The Most Anticipated Restaurant Openings in Chicago, Fall 2022 | Eater Chicago

"A massive, 75,000-square-foot club repurposing a former big-box store into a multiuse event complex that already hosts weddings and private events and will add a public-facing restaurant overseen by Yani Sanchez alongside chef Devinder Utpau; the restaurant will serve broadly American dishes with clear nods to Indian street and regional flavors (including a pani puri–inspired hummus concept, tandoori salmon and lamb ragu served with naan), and the venue also includes a theater and multiple bars, aiming for a late-fall rollout." - Ashok Selvam

When my fiancee and I decided to have our wedding and reception at The Matrix Club, all we were sure of was that it was a beautiful event space. Throughout the wedding planning process, we were thrilled to learn that the team at Matrix would allow the vision we had for this beautiful event space to come to life. We were working with a group of dedicated and energetic professionals that accommodated our every request and repeatedly went the extra mile to ensure that our two events would look and feel special, to both us and our hundreds of guests. What you see in the pictures is what happens when all of these factors coalesce. Also - not seen in these pictures is any of the food but if you ask our guests, they were served up the best food any of them had ever had at a wedding reception. Our DJ also came away very impressed by the sound system. In short - I can’t recommend The Matrix Club enough!

We went to Megs Lounge and was warmly greeted and seated. The bartender made a drink he was unfamiliar with but he was happy to try and it was great! Chef Al was a most gracious host. The food was fantastic and visually stunning! The chocolate spoon cake was decadent and very very delicious. It was our 1st visit but definitely not our last!

This concert was nothing short of extraordinary. Many of the negative reviews overlook the simple fact that event schedules are set by the organizers, not the venue. The acoustics were flawless, the lighting mesmerizing, and the atmosphere unforgettable. Amazing time, intimate experiences. Best venue in suburbs

This place was absolutely beautiful. I got a chance to take photos at this location. It's very spacious and perfect for hosting events. The event was able to seat over 400 people. When you walk in, the first thing you see is this amazing pool of water which creates this beautiful feel. The staff were very professional. I also found out they did the lighting for the event space and can change the lighting to various colors which is very cool. If you want to host an important event this location is definitely spacious enough.

Came to this place to watch the Champions League final. The big screen and good view made it a decent spot for the game. The hall was nearly empty, with just a few occupied tables. Surprisingly, only one server was working, she was doing a good job, but she didn’t get to us until after the first half (45 minutes), which is crazy. Management really needs to staff better for events like this. Food was okay, 5/10 at best. Only small plates were available, no full menu, which was disappointing. Another weird thing, while the game was still on, other employees came in and started moving tables and chairs to a different room, which was distracting. Overall, the place needs a lot of improvement in service and organization.

I recently attended my cousin’s wedding at The Matrix Club in Naperville, and I have to say it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. From start to finish, the level of service, care, and professionalism exceeded every expectation. Hands down, what impressed me most was the customer care. Every staff member went above and beyond to make sure guests were comfortable, and special recognition must go to Theressa, the Banquet Manager. She was everywhere at once—coordinating, guiding, and making sure every detail was executed flawlessly. Her energy, attentiveness, and passion were remarkable, and it’s clear that it’s people like her who make The Matrix Club stand out as the best place to host any event. The decor and ambiance were breathtaking. The venue itself is stunning—modern, elegant, and versatile enough to suit any theme. Our wedding planner recommended The Matrix Club as the top choice for a wedding venue in the Chicagoland area, and now I understand why. The banquet hall is spacious yet intimate, creating the perfect backdrop for both the ceremony and the reception. The catering was equally impressive, with a menu that offered a blend of flavors to please every palate. Every dish was served beautifully and tasted even better. Guests are still talking about the food! If you are looking for a venue that combines world-class hospitality with attention to detail, The Matrix Club is the place to be. Whether it’s weddings, receptions, banquets, or special events, they have the right team, the right space, and the right spirit. Truly, the best people to trust with life’s biggest celebrations. I would recommend The Matrix Club without hesitation to anyone searching for the best wedding venue, banquet space, or wedding planners’ top recommendation in Naperville and greater Chicago.

Google
Our family reception on July 13th at the Matrix Club was fantastic, and I highly recommend it for anyone planning a wedding or reception. A Special Thanks to " Lucky Charms Decor " who has done exemplary work. The venue boasts modern interiors and sophisticated audio-video equipment that enhanced our guests experience. Madan, Cherryl and Kristy were incredibly helpful in accommodating and customizing everything to meet our needs. The menu and food were good but could have been more extensive.

Google
Came here for Vishal-Shekhar concert on 31st Aug. Absolutely poor and ridiculous event management. No control over time. For 7 pm event, people were still crowded in the hall funneling towards a single 3 feet entry to the concert hall. Whosoever managed this, it is common sense to figure out how crowd should be queued from the hall entrance rather than leaving them to form a chaos.

Yelp
Service (A+) The service was excellent, the waitress was very kind and helpful. She promptly seated me, provided recommendations, made sure I could use my $10 off voucher, made sure the food came out in a timely manner, made the appropriate amount of conversation and promptly provided my bill. The interior of the lounge is amazing and I would like to have a wedding reception or graduation party or some special occasion. Food (B) I got the lamb kofta. Great idea but the lamb was a bit dry and the "heat" was a bit too much and didn't integrate into the dish. The portion size was a bit small also. (It was a small plate). But the presentation was excellent. I feel like this dish is a work in progress and could be better with some tweaks. Value (E) It's super expensive here and for that reason I will not be going back. I did use a $10 voucher and my total bill was $14 including tip and tax. Which I felt was a fair price, but no way would I pay $20-$24 for that item. The other menu items are also super expensive. My perspective is that it was super expensive to build out and the management team is using a cost plus model for pricing vs what the market can bear. Also the website has a few menus so it is confusing to know which one you will get. I let things play out with the staff but I wanted the burger that was on the online menu but I was presented the more expensive and different menu. It's confusing Overall (C) This was a tough review for me to write since this place has so much potential but they are not executing properly and the owners love for his daughter is resonating. Unfortunately i think that Megs lounge is going to fail. The prices are way too expensive, like by a factor of 2X or 3x, it is confusing to find, not enough marketing or promotions to get people in the door, etc My recommendation for management is to 1. Dramatically lower prices, 2. Create some type of consistent identity to the menu, 3. Do a much better job marketing by creating a strong social media strategy and better promotions. This place has potential but feels like an owners first attempt and pet project.

Yelp
The space is beautiful, large enough for the dinner banquet I attended. It was a little off-putting going to a mall, but once inside, didn't even think about where it was located.

Yelp
Such a beautiful space, and truly one of a kind. I was visiting from California to perform at one of their venues, and was amazed at the state of the art sound, lightning and decor. Staff were friendly and and accommodating. I highly recommend the lounge, very cool space and have great drinks and food. What a great place for the community!

Yelp
I attended the Jon B and Ginuwine concert. Beautiful venue with so much to offer. Food, beverages, a theatre, yoga studio and ample parking for larger crowds. While the venue is beautiful and it was a great show, the standing room only versus seating plan was chaotic. More than half the people in the seated section didn't have armbands for seating (which was open). Once there, seats were being saved with jackets and purses for others without seating privileges, which led to those of us with armbands to scramble for seating. I'm sure in time the details will be ironed out. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

Yelp
New Year's Eve celebration! Great venue for the evening. They had buffet stations with charcuterie, shrimp cocktail, pasta station, Indian food, salad station and more. Coffee and desserts included. Cash bar or the VIP pass gets you unlimited drinks. Really nice setup with two cover bands, Radio Gaga and Maggie Speaks.

Yelp
This is a beautiful venue but the Owner Madon still owes me money from 2 yrs ago. I did 3 sold out music shows (back to back) December, January and February at Matrix Megs Lounge and when we got through the 3rd event he reached out to me and said "I'M not paying you because I did not reach me revenue objectives.". He went so far as to say to me that I could sue him and it would not matter. As a leader of a pretty good band I found this to be very insulting. There were 350 in attendance and he only had 3 servers and 2 bartenders to handle the crowd. How is that the bands fault or responsibility? So this left me feeling certain way about Naperville music scene. It was obvious that this was Racism because he would have never did a rock band or a country band like this. The food and the drinks were over priced and the high priced drinks were served in plastic cups. There really needs to be an Urban Club in Naperville that caters to adults 35 +. This should be have been a great place for all to enjoy. They need new ownership.

Yelp
This was a very nice venue. It's located across from the Fox Valley Mall. They have a huge parking lot. We came here for NYE. It was easy to get our tickets scanned. They had a couple areas to do photos. Inside of the main hall for the event, they had multiple food stations like salad, two desserts, Asian, Indian, charcuterie including cold shrimp and oysters, made to order pasta, and coffee/tea. They had an abundance of tables to sit at, so it was nice to sit with people you don't know. They also had a couple of cover bands with a dance floor. Food was pretty decent, not fancy food but it was decent. Asian food was okay. Indian food was good. Charcuterie had a good selection. Made to order pasta was delicious. Dessert table presentation was messy because other people kind of butchered it. They do give you complimentary champagne for the countdown. I would say it was good for $65. I'm not sure about the $150 for VIP. On a side note, I wished they reinforced like a dress code. There were some people that dressed like they just got out of bed. They had like a best dressed couple drawing, which shouldn't be too difficult since a lot of guys wore just a t shirt and jeans.

Yelp
Excellent nightclub. It was like a bit of Las Vegas right in the Chicagoland suburbs. We saw a great blues-rock band called Brookwood Drive there last night. Not too big, not too small... tall ceilings, so you don't feel crowded. They have excellent food, a good selection of spirits (including some outstanding single malts), a good craft beer selection, plus wine & mixed drink lists. The front half has tables for formal dining (china, stemware, candles), wheras the back half has sofas & groups of comfy chairs around coffee tables. The bar spans the entire back of the room. The friendly staff are attentive. Everything about this place is classy. Other reviews talk about standing room cincerts, so maybe they configure the room differently for different events, but the layout I describe above is how it was for Brookwood Drive. I see from their website that they host conventions, wedding receptions, have many bands scheduled, & an upcoming New Years Eve Celebration. The complex also contains a yoga studio, performing arts center, but I didn't visit those, so can't comment on them. I highly recommend The Matrix Club.

Yelp
What's Love Got To Do With It. Purple Rain shows both Awesome John Williams, keep doing what you do, This band WOW !!!, every time I've seen them, they play different gyres of music for every crowd to hear. Thank you for giving us a good time to relax and enjoy ourselves. John Williams, you and the band. Shows so much showmanship when you guys play, We always enjoy ourselves when we attend your shows. Your team of musicians and singers always bring it. However, you must know how to draw your crowd in. oh boy, dont you do it. You guys do an awesome job in drawing us in. This is when music was music. May God continually bless your endeavors in all you do. Blessings to you and your band. We really enjoyed ourselves to celebrate with the Soul 2 the bone band From: our group Let's have fun

Yelp
Enjoyed the Soul 2 the Bone Band a lot! The problem was the venue. The waitress placed cover charges on my bill instead collecting before entering. So who tax a cover charge. Also, this is an upscale like venue and my alcohol beverage which was a margarita was served in a plastic cup. Therefore, I asked if I may have a glass & salt on my rim. Not knowing that there was an upchcharge for them to put it in a glass & a $3 charge for the salt around the rim. Servers are very inexperienced. This is the third time there but never paid extra for any of my requests before. Too nice of a place to not have things in order. Also, my guy burger came 2 1/2 hours later. Soul 2 the Bone you may want to consider elsewhere because they can't handle your crowd. Waiting forever to get food & a drink.

Yelp
Not really a concert place, very bad management, very disorganized, bad sound and bad lighting. Its more like a banquet hall.

Yelp
This place is Definitely not ready for prime time ! Let's start outside shall we ? On a freezing cold night. I tried to open not one, two but five doors before the last one on the left was the secret passage .. where's the signage ? No signage anywhere . No info on upcoming events . Driving up .. you don't even know what this building is ! Once inside .. there is no one to greet you . Again no signage .. maybe you're supposed to follow your instincts? The place is massive .. like a deserted airport .. only lonelier with not a soul in site . After wandering a bit I stumbled into Meg's lounge.. went to the bar .. Sever didn't even make eye contact with me for over 10 minutes .. perhaps he was too busy attending to his very few other guests .. I had to repeat my order several times. Ordered octopus.. I think it was octopus .. it was barely a few ounces which was hidden under the few potato slices .. and the kicker was that it was listed for $20 .. and the bill came with it listed as $22. I should've said something but I really didn't want any further interaction with the curt bartender . Did I mention it wasn't charred ... it was clearly burnt .. and absolutely no flavor . The smidge of sauce underneath couldn't save the day either . The menu tries to be chic .. but the tiny portion sizes with the high price tags.. makes me lose my appetite.. duck .. really ?? Get down to earth .. you're not Alinea .. ! I moved away from the bar and sat in another area .. for the entire evening no one came to ask if I wanted another drink . Some of the tables were even missing table cloths. The waitresses seemed so disconnected .. please train them or get an older staff . I went out to my car to get something .. and upon my return someone had locked ALL the doors .. thankfully someone else was leaving so I could get back in .. The venue is beautiful but sterile .. not a place I'd like to go and hang out at. So Matrix .. maybe this is just a glitzy Hollywood set .. but definitely not a premier music venue .. or club .. or whatever it is you're trying to be.
