The Mayflower Hotel, Autograph Collection

I had the pleasure of a week-long stay with a friend who has a Marriott Club membership. The hotel is in a fantastic location - couldn't be any better. The historic significance of this place adds charm and interest to the fine furnishings and comfortable rooms. There is a very nice gift shop on site along with a small store for incidentals. The restaurant is excellent and service is outstanding. This is excellent hotel for all kinds of travelers.

Back to leave a review a couple of months after our trip because I was just reminiscing on how great our stay was here. Everyone that we encountered who worked at this hotel was above and beyond friendly, continuously asking us if there was anything they could do for us. Our room was in superb condition, the window did face the main street, so there was a bit of noise at night, but not unexpected for a weekend in a metropolitan area. We even enjoyed great drinks at The Edgar! It was a real treat to stay here, and we look forward to coming back.

Nice hotel with awesome location. Great staff as well. Just avoid showering as the pipes and hot water system appear to be the same ones Edgar J Hoover and Franklin D Roosevelt used. Water was barely hotter than Room temperature at 8 a.m. My family members who showered in the evening reported the water was a little better then but not by much.

I recently attended a conference held at this hotel. 1. The facilities are extremely outdated and worn. Like many hotels in the U.S., it appears no updates have been made since around 2001. 2. There was no remote control for the TV. 3. The rooms had a strong chlorine odor after cleaning. 4. Noise from the hallway was very noticeable inside the room. 5. An old chocolate bar from a previous guest was found under the bed. 6. The hotel directed me to take a taxi waiting outside. While I agreed, I’ve rarely felt so concerned for my safety. If the hotel is recommending specific services, it holds a responsibility to ensure their quality.

Great location and full of history, but that is all about it… a front desk lady with curly hair seemed unwilling to help. Heater was so loud and not connect with the HAVC on the wall. Water pressure was unstable, so as water temperature. Very bad value you get for the price you pay. I would not recommend anyone to stay here.

Love this hotel and ambience. This hotel does really give you a luxury and upscale feeling. Very convenient location and closer to many garages for parking. This hotel is in one of the lively area in Washington

Stayed here with my wife and our toddler while attending an on-site conference. Good location with metro stations and food within walking distance. Friendly staff. Hotel has character to it. King room looked nice but lacked storage (no dresser, no nightstands with drawers). Desk space was not functional and the single chair in the room was not good for lounging or desk work. Window looked out onto a brick wall. The conference space was dated and non-functional, and the catered food was disappointing.

The Mayflower is an amazing place to stay! The staff are beyond nice and professional. We had a new person check us in and she was very nervous and made mistakes, however the manager came out and fixed it all in a timely manner. The lobby is BEAUTIFUL! The 2nd floor has amazing photos and places to sit and have quiet. There is so much history that has happened at this hotel. Presidents, Baseball players and celebrities used to frequent this establishment. Our suite was remodelled and was very nice. The bed was comfortable and the shower was huge! Large TV's and comfortable chairs and couch. We ate at the restraunt for breakfast and dinner and the wait staff were very kind and the food was really good. I would definetely stay here again.

We had an overall good stay here with a decent but underwhelming room for the week. For a less expensive hotel, this would be a four-star experience, but I just don't feel like I got a room worth the cost. We had a slightly sour first impression when we arrived with four bags and were offered no help with them until we had completed the check-in process. At that point, we were past needing it and decided to schlep them the rest of the way ourselves. It's my understanding that the floor plans vary pretty significantly at this hotel, but I was disappointed to find upon arrival that we were given an extremely small room despite being there for seven nights. We had to allocate the seating space to our luggage rather than using it for seating. The other disappointment came when we found that the room could have been in better shape. There was damage to the carpet as well as small stains on the sofa and larger ones on the bathroom wallpaper (I'd suspect that purple wallpaper is not the most cleanable surface anyway). There was a small crack in the bathroom tub, too. Also, the bedding was a little too small for the bed, leaving the bottom half of the mattress exposed each night a fitted sheet was used (one one night, housekeeping used a flat sheet for the base). On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable, the staff were friendly overall, the neighborhood is lovely, and the hotel has a fantastic proximity to the Farragut North metro stop. I would consider staying here again, but I would also look at other hotels in the area before making a decision, for sure.

I frequent DC on a monthly basis and tend to pick a new Marriott property to try. This was my first stay at The Mayflower. Check in went smoothly and the main entrance is absolutely stunning! The high ceilings with chandelier accents all over is a classy touch. The abstract art all over was nice too. There's a full gym with equipment, free weights, Peloton and treadmills. The rooms on the second floor are set up strangely. There's one door (off of the main floor) and you find two doors down the hallway. Being so close together, you can hear the adjacent rooms TV or conversations. Upon entering your room, there's minimal space between the bed and dresser/TV. The shower had someone else's hair stuck to the tub. The rooms are pretty small compared to other hotels. Given it was $800 for two weekday nights, I expected much more. If you valet your car, expect to wait a while in the morning for it. I was told 10 mins and it took 30 mins. The reasoning was they were busy, but as I stood out front of the hotel, it wasn't. Upon my vehicle arriving, I saw a small dent in my door and paint missing, it definitely wasn't there when I dropped it two nights prior. Room service was $38 with a $5 tip for breakfast and it arrived as if someone carried it upside down. As I opened the door to get my food, the employee bringing up my breakfast turned his head to sneeze and sneezed right in my orange juice. All of this to say, you may be better off finding another location, better prices and close to the Wharf.. There's plenty to choose from in DC.

Bottom Line: A comfortable historic hotel near the White House, DuPont Circle restaurants and Farragut North Metro station. I appreciate American history and historical architecture and for decades I had been curious about the famous Mayflower Hotel. Conveniently it's a Marriott Autograph property which I also enjoy. Given all of that, my husband and I decided to go stay at the property for one night. Our room was comfortable and we had a good time giving ourselves a self guided tour of the hotel. We enjoyed the exhibits on the mezzanine level as well as the signage throughout the hotel providing some history about the hotel. We had a slightly upgraded room that I believe was called a Deluxe Larger King room. The room was plenty spacious with large windows and a slipper couch. The TV was huge but proportionate to the size of the room. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. We checked out the hotel gym which was a decent size for a historical hotel in the city. Admittedly, we spent more time checking out the hotel bar and restaurant (Edgar) than the gym. I was surprised at how large the hotel was, especially for being built in 1929. I was impressed that the lobby ran the entire depth of the hotel which was a full city block. The hotel is close to lots of restaurants and nightlife in DuPont Circle and its conveniently located across the street from the Farragut North Metro station on the red line. It not close enough to the mall and museums such that this would be my preferred location for a family vacation but if coming to DC for an event at the hotel or a meeting in the area this is a good place to stay.

Nice location. Fabulous looking lobby. Very friendly service. Well appointed rooms. They offer tea/coffee all day and also some fruit, etc. I've been told that they offer free croissants and pastries in the morning. The location is wonderful. The room was very hot when I arrived and the wall thermostat was blowing hot air. But after a bit of fiddling with their HVAC system, it seems to be cooling down now.

Ideally located for our trip to DC, but expensive. Room was large and airy. Bathroom was adequate with a large glassed in shower stall. TV worked. Making arrangements for parking the car ranged from costly to absorbent. We went with the costly, parking in the parking garage and forgetting about the car until we left town. Uber and Lyft are the only ways to travel inside DC. The hotel restaurant was a plus.

I love the Mayflower. Beautiful historic hotel in the heart of DC. I have noticed that over the last few visits that some aspects of the experience has started to wane. Valet experience was less then ideal. The service at the on premise restaurant, Edgar is not at the peak level that I am used to from the Mayflower. Beauitful rooms and well appointed. Bathrooms are clean and bright with high quality finishes. The bed is super comfortable and the HVAC works very well. I will continue to stay at the Mayflower, when I can, and I have faith that the small dip in service levels will come back to the extaordinary standards that I am used to from this hotel. Great place to stay.

Enjoyed my stay here - great location! Within walking distance to most of the main landmarks. We walked to the White House in about 15 minutes. The staff here is super friendly and helpful. Onsite restaurant is great! The room itself is nice. They offer snacks and pastries on your floor each day. There's always a concierge available on your floor as well for help and recommendations. The two I had were great and so nice.

Wonderful service, rooms, and location My wife and I recently revisited the Mayflower hotel (this time on the MVC floor) and I'm happy to say that for the first time since 2020 the hotel feels fully 'back'. The Mayflower is a very 'adult' hotel with all that implies. Gracious service, traditional decor, and attention to detail that contrasts starkly with some of the more modern, 'hipper' DC hotels in which we've stayed. It is also a large hotel, so if you are looking for a boutique hotel experience you will have to look elsewhere. It is difficult to imagine a more convenient location. A short walk to the restaurants and shops of Dupont Circle and Foggy Bottom, the White House, and the Government buildings nearby and a slightly longer walk to Georgetown and the Monuments and Museums on the Mall. It is steps away from the Red line, not much farther from the Blue, Orange, and Silver ones, and there was a constant stream of cabs outside on Connecticut Ave. The one change that COVID inflicted is that the elite lounge remains closed - apparently permanently. And while a breakfast voucher of $27/guest (up to 2) at Edgar is offered to Platinum and above staying as a hotel guest, on the MVC side a complementary continental breakfast is offered at the 'owners station'. All in all, the Mayflower continues to be our 'goto' hotel in DC.

I spent three nights here for a conference and meetings on Capitol Hill. Compared to our venue in prior years (the Ritz-Carlton in Pentagon City), this location certainly had its advantages. Overall it was a lovely stay, but not without a couple glitches in the system. The hotel is located in a nice part of town, with several nearby restaurants and a short distance to the White House and DuPont Circle. It is conveniently located close to the Farragut North Metro station, so you can dispense with a car and avoid the usurious $66/night parking fee. It's also a reasonable walk to the National Mall and the museums around there. On one chilly morning I took a leisurely walk to the Air and Space Museum and got there in about 45 minutes. This is an old, stately hotel with all the associated charm and quirks. You enter into a cavernous atrium with a mezzanine around the top where you'd expect to see men in powdered wigs and long coats and women in hoop skirts all holding those masks on the end of sticks. The check-in process was smooth. I gave them my Marriott Bonvoy number which allowed me to get free wi-fi for the duration of my stay but no other special perks. I requested a king room but they only had two queen rooms available unless I wanted an accessible room. I decided to leave those for people who actually needed it. This hotel is enormous. I don't recall ever being in a hotel with this many rooms outside Las Vegas. There are long halls with little alcoves into which rooms are tucked, which gives it a labyrinthine feel. There was some interesting art, including what I thought was a large picture of a nuclear explosion, but it was actually an image of the 1980 Mt. St. Helens eruption. My two queen room room was very spacious and impeccably clean. Lighting could have been a little better, but it was sufficient in the areas that needed it the most (such as the nightstand and the desk. The chair at the desk was just a little too low to work at comfortably. There was a large closet with an in-room safe and a mini-fridge tucked into a cabinet. The bathroom was bright and the towels were soft. Instead of bath soap and small bottles of shampoo and conditioner, there were large bottles mounted to the wall. I'm not a big fan of bath gel, but it was fine. Water pressure and temperature of the shower was excellent. The beds were comfortable and I enjoyed three nights of very sound sleep, though every once in a while I would hear water running in the walls by my head. The climate control worked well and it was easy to control the temperature. The unit was far enough from the beds so that it didn't blow directly on me as I slept. I wasn't able to get the curtains to fully close to I was awakened earlier than I would have preferred by a thin line of light hitting my face. The conference accommodations were good, but for our full-day workshop the ballroom was too cold. Acoustics were surprisingly good for an old place like this. The kitchen staff prepared a very good breakfast and lunch for our group. The hotel's fitness room is quite nice as well. It is clean and reasonably well-ventilated, so it didn't have the musty sweaty-body odor. There are a handful of treadmills and elliptical machines, two Pelotons, but only one recumbent bike. The weight training area has several machines and a fully array of dumbbells. Daily housekeeping was offered, and whenever I returned to the room everything was neatly put together. I wanted some decaf Keurig coffee pods for the machine in the room, but both times I called no one could track any down. A minor inconvenience but a bit unexpected given the careful attention to all other details. Nevertheless, this was a very nice experience and I hope that our meeting returns here in the future.

Another disappointing stay. The curtains in my room would not fully close, so there was a two inch gap that let the light in first thing in the morning. The restaurant on property, Edgar, does not have sufficient capacity for a hotel of this size. The wait for a table at breakfast ran 30-45 minutes. There were 25 people ahead of me at 9:20am. I was seated at the bar at exactly 10am. A top notch hotel has the ability to serve its guests breakfast in a reasonable amount of time. The Mayflower failed in this regard. Otherwise, staff was friendly. Housekeeping did an excellent job cleaning my room.

Nice hotel. Spacious rooms! The front desk personnel could be a little friendlier, but I guess nothing is perfect.

Wife and I are Marriott Vacation Owners the 7th floor of the Mayflower Hotel is a MVC resort. We had points that we needed to use up before the end of the year so I booked us a night here. I parked across the street it was $35 cheaper for the night. We checked in and headed to the 7th floor to our room the elevators are pretty quick didn't wait long and once on it was fast to our floor. There was a MVC greeter when we came out of the elevator but he was busy so we slipped on by. The room was really nice had a kings size bed a small desk with a fridge and a small couch like sitting area at the foot of the bed nice walk in shower. The hotel isn't very sound proof there was some noise from outside. Over all great hotel bed was very comfortable and we had a wonderful New Year's Eve night. Excellent location to stay if your going to The DC improve it rite across the street. Check out is by 10am at the resort but if you stay in the hotel you can get late check out.

Wow. I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and decor of this hotel. It absolutely exceeded my expectations. It is really a gem of a hotel. The food at Edgar's was good. Definitely recommended. My only suggestion for the hotel is to fix the windows so they can open an inch or two for a little fresh air.

Had a great two day stay the other week, centrally located to all DC attractions including the White House. Dinning for breakfast at Edgar's was a good option, quickly seated and served. Reasonably priced and good quality food. The hotel has old world charm of the early 1900's, bathrooms were remodeled well and bed was comfortable. Pillow options could be greater. Once again a the location was amazing, walking distance to entertainment and great food.

The Mayflower Hotel is a historic hotel in downtown Washington, D.C., located on Connecticut Avenue NW. It is two blocks north of Farragut Square. The hotel is managed by the Autograph Collection Hotels division of Marriott International. The Mayflower is the largest luxury hotel in the District of Columbia, the longest continuously operating hotel in the Washington D.C. area, and a rival of the nearby Willard InterContinental and Hay-Adams Hotels. The Mayflower is known as the "Grande Dame of Washington", the "Hotel of Presidents", and as the city's "Second Best Address"--the latter sobriquet attributed to President Harry S. Truman. Today it is a four-star hotel. We enjoyed our stay at The Mayflower. The small details of the fun facts posted all around the hotel and amazing architecture. The front desk was pleasant and accommodated us by moving us to a higher floor upon request. The only critique are the rooms are quiet dark due to their placement. Often times in older buildings, windows are small and placed fasting more brick. There are few rooms that have multiple windows and a view of the city. I would make that a requirement if that is important to you upon check-in. Overall, the room was nice, and we'd stay there again.

I was here for a conference where we were invited. The security guard here was cold and did not allow us to pray in the lobby when we asked for a place to pray. We said we would just pray next to the couches in the waiting area which wasn't a problem yet they wouldn't allow it. I never had an experience like that. I was in many ways deeply upset by that experience.

Poor service from top to bottom. From bartenders to the bellhops - it's bad. The security is even rude. Lot of better options in DC.

The hotel is in a very convenient location. The lobby is very grand and littered with modern art. The rooms are very spacious. However, the rooms are poorly maintained for the price range. There was dust in almost every corner of the room; behind the bed, between the bed and the night stand, behind the toilet. The moldings were dirty and some of the wallpaper was damaged. These little details take away from the overall feel of the room.

FIX the WiFi in the hotel... it is the WORST I have ever experienced! "Old building " is a horrible excuse given at the front desk!

What a grand lovely hotel! I chose because of its history and so glad we did. We booked a suite, which was absolutely wonderful and elegant. The staff at the front desk and bell station were wonderful. Our room was spacious, clean and great sleep quality! We could easily walk to most DC sites... which we did. There is no valet here. You are able to park your vehicle at front to unload for about 10-15 but then you self park around the corner. SUPER close and the staff there are very nice. If you pay them (parking peeps) directly it is $10 cheaper!

Beautiful hotel in a great location! It was extremely busy and they didn't know how to handle the crowds. Concierge was exceptional! The housekeepers were nice. The loss of the star was attributed to the dirty towels that were in the room. I'm blown away that a hotel that can cost so much could have that type of error. Despite that, the overall experience was wonderful and I would go again, but certainly remind them prior to arrival to check their linens. Enjoy!

What a unique and historic hotel! Its a great location with nice rooms. I was pretty happy with this place as a hotel given that I rarely like staying at hotels. I just never seem to sleep great in hotel beds. No breakfast included, but at least there was coffee/tea and a decent breakfast sandwich place next door. I wasn't going to have the $20 eggs in the bar. I'm always just a little miffed at the lack of free breakfast. Boo...

The room was surprisingly extremely small for the price. But again this is such an iconic place (filmed : Scandal) the lobby is gorgeous but definitely hoped the room could have been bigger. I had to step over my luggages opening up getting across the room. The gym is all the way across to another elevator so if it's your first time at this hotel you'll need navigate a bit to find your way around. The elevator is also super slow ~ that also contributes to the age of the hotel.

Attended this hotel for a conference but did not stay overnight. It actually has awkwardly arrange conference room (because it an old historic hotel) with weird spacing. The meeting rooms are on the first and second floors (which is really the 3rd floor). Those second floor conference rooms are on the same level as hotel room (which I don't like). Very historic hotel - "second best address" in DC. Perfect location being close to several Metro stops in a active area.

I went here for an Indian wedding. We didn't get a room to stay overnight but we were all over the hotel throughout the day for different ceremonies. This is a beautiful hotel with gorgeous architecture. The ceilings are quite exquisite. My friend stayed in a room overnight and sent me a video of her room. The room looks clean and comfortable. Nicely decorated. The hotel staff were warm and welcoming. Even though I was not an overnight guest they helped me find things to do and places to go during the 4 hour break between the wedding and the reception. They even offered me a complimentary bottle of water. I hung out in the lobby for a while too. There are comfortable arm chairs and couches with a place to charge your phone (need your own charging cord though). The Indian food from the hotel served at the cocktail hour and reception was delicious. The open bar served well mixed drinks that were not weak by any means. I'd love to come back and stay at this hotel overnight next time I'm in DC.

Beautiful hotel. Extremely clean. I guess due to the COVID or whatever there was no bell service ( there was a bell man but no Service, You had to lug your bags in yourself, which was no biggie. (They gave me a cart). Employees were nice and friendly. Service otherwise was great. The lobby is beautiful and reminded me of a hotel from the 50's. ( I love old hotels with class, character and chandeliers everywhere). Our room was very large. Nice size bathroom too. Foyer area when you walk in with a closet. Room was clean, comfortable and modern. The bar was only open 1 night. Location was perfect. Train station right on the corner. Mostly everything is within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again.

The lobby was very nice, but the rooms for the vacation club were not. Seemed a bit run down and I had a defective bed. Only stayed for 2 nights so I did not see the purpose of asking for another room after 1 night, but while checking out I had alerted the front desk, and the vacation club representation on floor 7 that this bed should definitely be removed and tried explaining that future guests will most definitely complain. The front desk essentially told me there's nothing they can do because they are a "separate company" from the vacation club (who owns floor 7), and the vacation club representative apologized and told me all of the rooms were being renovated and would be completed at the end of the year for our "next stay". Nothing was done about the bed. I thought for sure the hotel would do the right thing and compensate for the poor experience, but I was mistaken.

We stayed at this famous historic hotel last week. It pains me to tell this story, but I feel compelled to share this very sad experience at this classically beautiful historic hotel. I should have suspected something negative could happen when we were assigned to room 666 over a Friday the 13th. No kidding!! We arrived and checked in just fine last Monday, staying through the following Saturday morning. The place is just gleaming and the staff is polite, accommodating and helpful. All seemed just wonderful. We received a welcome bag and complimentary bottled water. We went up to our lovely suite and marveled at the beautifully appointed room. Now remember it is COVID time and cleanliness is paramount. At first I noticed a few dirty things..a rubber band on the floor in the bathroom, a few tiny scraps of tin foil when we opened the couch for our youngest to sleep on. The in room bar is emptied and out of service for the pandemic. We leave for the day and return to find that our room has been cleaned and serviced. Good enough but...our young son's blanket is missing! His two stuffed animals are in place, but his blanket that he has slept with since he was barely alive fighting to survive in neonatal ward has just vanished!! Why⁉ How⁉ We calmly explain this issue and ask the laundry to be searched. Nothing. An employee comes up to help search our room and bedding...nothing. To make matters even worse, every time we search we find more and more filth everywhere. A child's journal?! Poppers?! ChAnge?! Terrible filth!! We end up leaving with no priceless blanket, but we did received a very small credit for living with the filth and lack of cleanliness...during pandemic times. For shame, Mayflower Hotel. You are merely lovely window dressing and no substance. Stay here at your own risk. And bring nothing irreplaceable!!!

I have been very impressed so far with the Mayflower. I would not recommend it for a conference, but would totally recommend it for a stay and a social event like a wedding:

An elegant and pleasant stay. The Mayflower Hotel delivers a classic feel with a touch of modern designs all from the lobby to the rooms. The bar is a nice place to enjoy a late night drink after exploring the city , or in the morning with all the nice breakfast options they have. I will definitely only book a room here next time in DC

First time staying at an Autograph Collection hotel and was really pleased! I arrived at 9 AM for check-in (though technically check-in is at 3 PM) and there were rooms available, but I specifically wanted 2 queens instead of 1 king. So I opted to leave my phone number and they'd call me when my room was ready. They called an hour later while my husband and I were out sightseeing but we didn't have to rush back, they had reserved it for us and we just had to pick up the key card when we got back. Note when we were walking to the hotel, all the side doors were closed and locked so the only entrance is the front entrance. The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside but once you're inside it's quite grand, with crown molding and intricate ceiling decorations throughout the lobby, conference rooms and hallways. The hotel was properly staffed with many bellmen, concierge, front desk staff so the wait wasn't too long for anything. I was in town for a conference with most of our meetings in the Grand Ballroom and it was really cold! But the sound system, acoustics and seating was nice with two screens on left and right of the speaker. With our conference group rate it was $309/night, free wifi if you're a Marriott Bonvoy member (free to sign up). Rooms were really large with a couch at the foot of one bed with a pull up iron table. Another table in the corner with the fridge, keurig stocked with k-cups, two plush seats in front of the TV. Wooden shutters of the room kept the sun out and thermostat worked really quickly. Note that the TV was really far away from the bed due to the L shape of the room. Multiple elevators throughout the long hallways that you could take down to the lobby so really convenient. Overall a great stay in a convenient location!

The concierge, Ozzie, is the best part about this hotel. She was so enthusiastic, cheerful, informative, and helpful. I've never experienced such hospitality. She is five stars all the way. Our room, although nicely appointed, had a bit of crud in the corners of the shower, and an empty water bottle behind the night stand. We will be back, and view the flaws In room cleanliness as an aberration.

Due to a knee injury that hampered my mobility, I had called weeks ahead of trip to request a room with easy accessible step-up shower. The room we got, located in the middle of long hallway on the MVC Pulse 7th floor, came with an abundance of bathroom grab bars. However, taking a shower still required stepping into a shallow bath tub. And it's a twenty-plus feet walk from bed to bathroom. Otherwise, it's a lovely, spacious, comfortable room replete with ample closet space, a large TV, a desk, large sofas, and a king size bed. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room just down the hall from ours was where President Roosevelt made a famous speech decades ago! Another things we liked about this historical landmark hotel was its proximity to the Farragut North Metro station with easy access to Union Station and Reagan National, and short distance from many DC attractions.

Second visit in a few weeks and learned some things. Our previous room was 350 a deluxe king in the central corridor. This was a great room...spacious and quiet. This most recent visit we were in room 511. I was excited as it was on the front overlooking Connecticut Ave. my excitement faded during the night as it became apparent that the outside noise would be an issue...at times we were able to hear conversations on the sidewalk. I spoke with the desk the next morning and they were very helpful and moved us to room 854 a premier king. Then I learned the following...the deluxe king is larger than the premier, and that the rooms with the same last numbers are the same...so 854 is the same as 754 and 654, etc. I really enjoy this hotel and would recommend that you stay in the central corridor and ask not to be in the front. For my money, rooms 854 or 350 are the ideal rooms.

Nice for a old classy hotel. Looks like recently remodeled. Stayed there for a conference in DC and used Marriott timeshare points. Free bottled water when ever you ask. Helpful staff.......but disappointed no pool or jacuzzi. Seems like takes awhile to summon a lyft but they always have taxis on the ready. Had a wonderful stay and slept well.

Beware if you choose to drive here. It is valet parking only, which is slow and inefficient. I called for my vehicle and it took them over 45 minutes to to get my vehicle. I got my car only after asking on the status of my car several times. When asked about what happened and why it took so long, I was told my request was canceled, despite standing by the door by the valets and waiting for my car. As for the rooms, it is a bit small and feels old than some of your modern hotels. But the hotel decor is nice and the hotel is situated walking distance from many attraction in DC. Their fitness center is clean and is well stocked with many equipments. If you're planning on staying in here, recommend uber/lyft and stay away from using the valet.

We stayed at this hotel for almost a week and found the hotel to be quite enjoyable. There are a lot of cool and interesting historic things that have happened here, so it is kind of cool to know that you're staying in a place where a lot of presidents and foreign dignitaries have stayed. We stayed in a suite and found it very comfortable, with nice views of the downtown all around us. The one thing that was disappointing here was that there was only one restaurant available (Edgar), which seems a little ridiculous for a hotel that has over 500 rooms. I know there are plenty of places to eat in the surrounding area, but you'd think for the price to stay here, they would have more amenities to offer in-house. Pro tip: If you are a Marriott BonVoy member and you make the reservation online, you can choose if you want firmer pillows or the soft pillows. Go with firm, you won't feel like your neck is broken after walking several miles in DC each day.

The concierge service was great. The property amenities met my expectations. 10 minutes to Georgetown and One Direction five minutes to the White House in the opposite direction. Friendly front desk staff and housekeeping staff.

I spent 4 nights here. It started with them telling me I didn't have a room despite me having all the correct documentation showing otherwise. They required that I call my travel agent, then they put my travel agent on hold for 30 minutes. Once they realized it was their mistake they still messed up the dates of my stay and said they would "extend my stay" despite those being the nights I already paid for. Two days later, my keycards aren't working and they tell me it's because I was late for checkout and needed to book another night and pay for the "extended stay" despite the fact that I pre-paid. After 10 minutes of back and forth, they realized their employee messed up the dates. Honestly, if you book here call ahead of time to make sure you actually have a reservation because they caused me an unnecessary amount of stress after a 12 hour day of flying. Once I FINALLY got in, the room itself is nice enough. Just call before so they don't try to screw you over like they did to me. It was super annoying.

Beautiful lobby. The rooms were nice but a little small with no view. Be ready to pay for valet! But it is walking distance to the White House. You could also walk to Lincoln memorial. Hotel is pretty centrally located.

This place is old. And I mean old. In fact, I think it's the oldest hotel in DC. And it shows when you're in the room and hallways. The lobby is the most impressive feature. It's big, bright and makes you go "oooh" and "aaah." The upgraded room I got was spacious. The one thing I hated was the bathtub in need of a desperate remodeling. The gym is overloaded with cardio equipment, which isn't all balanced properly. Running on the treadmill yielded a lot of banging against the floor. The weightlifting equipment options were better than I expected. The complimentary water and Granny Smith apples were a nice touch. Minor complaints aside, this place has a lot of history and I was happy just to get a room, especially at the rate I paid. Labor Day weekend in DC must have been a hard time for hotels because they practically gave me this room for my stay. Safes in the room. WiFi works fine.

Last night was my first time entering The Mayflower Hotel, Autograph Collection. I arrived for a magic show. The lobby area is massive. This is a great looking hotel. I would like to come back and order a drink at the bar.

I attended meetings here over the course of a few days and also stayed in the hotel. I absolutely cannot say enough nice things about the staff here. From check in forward, everyone was helpful and courteous throughout our meetings, getting help with the wifi (adding our Marriott Rewards numbers so we didn't have to pay the $12.95/day!), answering questions and even when we were departing for the airport, a doorman grabbed plastic bags for all of us for our box lunches without us even asking. The only odd interaction we had was at the concierge desk when we asked for some restaurant recommendations and found ourselves listening to a time share sales pitch....don't say I didn't warn you... The guest rooms are what I would expect in a historic hotel. Yes, they are quirky...I've been in other classic hotels and they are all like this. My room had a spacious foyer; I'm not sure what anyone might use this space for, but it wasn't hurting anything being there. My room had an accessible bathroom which was huge! The shower was clearly designed to be accessible for those with mobility challenges which was nice to see in an older hotel like this. The downside to this shower and very large bathroom though is that unless you turned the thermostat way up in the whole room, it was a little chilly since the room was way too big for the shower to warm it up and there is no separate heater in the bathroom. The bedroom did not seem to have a path between the beds and desk that would be large enough for a wheelchair or walker to fit through. I'm not sure if perhaps one bed is removed if someone who uses a wheelchair or walker were staying here? The beds were very comfortable, but watch out for stubbing your toes on the frame; the frames are solid to the floor and larger than the mattresses. There were no drawers for clothes, but there was a large wardrobe to hang clothes and some shoe cubbies in there that kind of worked for putting away non-hanging clothing. The desk is mostly filled with the television, but there is enough space for a laptop. The big downside was that the desk chair was not adjustable and so for a short person like me, this meant my arms were nearly at shoulder level when trying to work at the desk. I was able to use a combo of a little round table, a cube chair, and the foot of the bed as a serviceable work area. Noise level in the rooms is typical for a city; bring earplugs if you aren't used to sleeping with traffic noise, As others have mentioned, there is no in room coffee, but they do have it in the lobby. The fitness center was great. There were enough machines to accommodate the 6AM crowd, and the complimentary ear buds, apples and bottled water were very nice touches. The food we had at our meetings was amazing! This was not standard meeting fare. As examples, we enjoyed a grits and egg bar for breakfast one morning which featured an impressive array of vegetables. For lunch one day we had assorted kebabs which were delicious (salmon, lamb and chicken). The fresh salads were creative and wonderful. The soups were delicious! The desserts were amazing and we all ate too many of them. The conference food is 5 stars for sure! Meeting rooms are plentiful and comfortable. IT support was great! Location is great for getting around town; there are Metro stations in every direction and getting to and from Reagan National is very easy via Metro, cab or Uber. There are tons of restaurants in walking distance and it is also walkable to the National Mall.

Great location between DuPont Circle and Whitehouse, historic, and grand but poor sound insulation Overall, had a positive stay, but was very disappointed with the noise from outside my room. My room was overlooking an alley, and each night car, truck, and industrial noises woke me up. Very, very poor sound insulation for room 1080. Arrival: Arrived by Uber. Doormen completely ignored me. Efficient check-in with a helpful young lady named Mahi. Room (general): King room (room 1080). Nice loveseat/settee, large TV, large desk, and a king bed. Mini-refrigerator. One gripe about the Mayflower- no mini-coffee makers in room. Mayflower used to have mini coffee makers but in recent years they were removed. Also, entry had lots of scuff marks on the wall. Bed: Good bed with good linens. Bathroom: Ample counter space. Tub/shower. Not the best toiletries. Good Andis hairdryer. Noise/sleep quality: Very poor sleep quality. Tons of noise from the alley that my room overlooked. And the fire alarm went off very early in the morning of my second night. It turned out to be a false alarm. Horrible sleep! Housekeeping: Excellent housekeeping. I wrote notes to the housekeeper each day, and she read them and accommodated my requests. Kudos to housekeeping! Gym: on site but didn't have time to use it. Restaurants/bars: Restaurant and bar on site. I didn't try them on this trip. But I've been pleased with the lobby bar in the past. Lounge: The concierge lounge was generally packed but seemed to keep up better than my last visit. Ne was helpful as usual. And Austria was very helpful too. Parking: valet available IT issues: The Mayflower uses a "splash screen" logon to access the internet. I had to call Marriott to request an open IP port to connect my company laptop to our VPN. Ezra was the most officiant and helpful Marriott IT person I've ever encountered. Grounds: This is a city hotel with no real grounds. Overall staff attitude: Overall, staff was very good. Tips: (1) Beware of room 1080 for alley noise! (2) Easy walk to the Whitehouse and major sites. Also the DuPont Circle area has lots of quality restaurants. I needed hotel accommodations for my Brother while he was in town for business. I selected the Mayflower due to the great rate I was able to secure & the location. A few blocks away from the Farragut North Metro Statin-Red Line, the Mayflower (part of the Marriott International Chain), is one of the few luxury hotels in the District's/Connecticut Avenue area. The rooms are well decorated with a vintage theme - 500 rooms, 60 suites & two Presidential suites. The walls are donned with the 'autographs' by individuals such as Harry S. Truman. The Lobby boasts a grandeur backdrop of glitz & glamour that resonates with a welcoming flow across the entire hotel. Even the Concierge Corner is fancy, with employees handling requests & handing out shoe shines. It started to rain unexpectedly & Ahmad, from Team Concierge gave us a huge umbrella to use. Upon returning, we tried to give it back to him & he wouldn't accept it...so we passed it along to another guest that was heading out. Theres daily complimentary coffee & juices every morning on the 5th floor area. For a full dining experience, the Edgar Bar & Kitchen is located to your right as soon as you walk into the Lobby. The menu offers traditional American Brasserie & some modern contributions for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Not your routine hotel accommodations, yet a relaxing, indulgent experience with top notch amenities in the center of the Farragut/Dupont corridors.

My husband and I used Marriott Vacation Club Points for our Sunday through Wednesday stay. When I was about an hour's drive away from The Mayflower, I called to request an early check-in. When we arrived in DC, we initially struggled with navigating how the streets run. We circled the block once and was fortunate to find parking around the corner from the hotel on Connecticut Ave NW and M Street. We left our luggage in the car and walked to the hotel to check-in. The room wasn't available yet, but they took my phone number and offered bottled water. We didn't receive the call that our room was ready for another two and a half hours. Parking is one of the biggest issues to resolve. We chose valet parking at the hotel because we were visiting relatives outside the city and wanted in/out privileges. It was a flat fee of $61.00 per day. There were much less expensive parking options in the area, but none with in/out privileges. Trying to find street parking was too much of hassle. We reserved a 2 double guest room. Based on reviews, I specifically requested a room facing away from the front of the building where construction was taking place. The room assigned did not have a great view, but it was quiet which is what I preferred. The Vacation Club rep on the 7th floor incorrectly informed us that the complimentary breakfast was at the onsite restaurant ("Edgar's") when in actuality it was in the club lounge on the 8th floor. The room was elegantly furnished yet comfortable. In-room television service included access to Netflix, Pandora, in-theatre movies and others. There were two tiers of internet service (free for Marriott Bonvoy members), regular and enhanced. The glaring thing, however, was the absence of a microwave and coffee/tea maker, something that even a Super 8 motel has. The lack of a microwave meant we could not have leftovers from dining out in the room for more than a few hours. Coincidentally, they had two room service menus lying around. Other missing items were the channel lineup and welcome book comprising hotel policies and procedures and area attractions. Really weird. I also discovered stains on the side of the mattress and on the shower curtain. There was complimentary breakfast in the mornings and hors d'oeuvres served in the early evening which helped offset food costs. The incentive for attending a timeshare presentation we scheduled in advance helped offset the parking fees. At the meeting, I was informed that having a microwave and coffee/tea maker was prohibited in the rooms by city ordinance due to the hotel being a historical landmark and all. Barring a few offputting things, I enjoyed our stay at The Mayflower. It is a gorgeous building in walking distance of public transportation, The White House, museums and area attractions.

Checked into this hotel, clean big rooms, beautiful front entrance, and comfy clean beds. Definitely recommend this hotel if you're going to stay in DC. Front staff is friendly enough and there are great shopping/breakfast places nearby. 10/10

This is more than just an elegant hotel!! It is a jewel steeped in history that dates back to Calvin Coolidge's Presidential inaugural Ball and has served as host for decades since! It has had quite the list of celebrity residents and guests from Churchill, FDR and JFK, to Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana! As you enter the grand lobby, you're met with enormous crystal chandeliers and gilded finials and Art Deco reminiscent of the opulence of the Gilded Age and the Roaring Twenties. It's like stepping back into time! Just wandering around the lobby and the mezzanine gives you a look into its storied past from its inception through the present day! How amazing is it to have stayed in the same hotel where FDR penned his most famous quote: "There is nothing to fear but fear itself"!! Our room was so beautifully appointed and quite spacious with two queen beds that were so comfortable I didn't want to get out of bed! I slept so soundly, which I never do even in my own bed, that I felt well rested and ready to explore DC! With everything within close proximity, including the White House, this landmark gem is a great strategic point to see all the major sites and places of interest! Park at PMI adjacent to the Mayflower ($45/nt with in and out privileges Or $35/nt without) just let the hotel staff know so they can validate for the parking with privileges. The concierge is very friendly and knowledgeable! They have a gift shop, and two restaurants on site. Edgar's is a bar and restaurant named after the famed J. Edgar Hoover, who was rumored to have frequented the establishment on a regular basis! Just wandering around this magnificent hotel gives you a feeling of awe to know that these same halls were walked by dignitaries throughout history! Though not open to the public, it is worth a stay to reminisce about living in a bygone era!

We checked into the Mayflower today and I am here writing this review. We are Marriott owners and have stayed at many Marriott property's and I must say this is the worse property by far. The room is very small, dirty, and reaks of mold. The smell is horrible. We are supposed to stay here for an entire week but we will probably check out tomorrow and find somewhere else to stay this is so bad. We wasted our points on this? The only thing it has going for it is the close proximity to all the museums and landmarks and that's it. So dissappointed.
