The Meadow - Mulberry St.

A cute little candy shop with a wide variety of chocolates from across the world as well as some local chocolates too. They also have a wide variety of salts, soaps and other little items too. Very nice store but it is a little cramped though especially when it’s busy.

I cannot recommend The Meadow enough. it has 130 different salt, so many real (bean to bar) chocolate from different parts of the world with unique stories, beautiful packaging, cocktails bitters mostly from USA, wine, wild rare flowers, and unique gifts options. They are based in Portland and all the furnitures too are made there. It feels warm and homey, the staff guides you in finding the perfect one for you or as gifts depending on your needs. The owner, Mark, is truly passionate about salt and created a world that opens up your eyes to experiencing food differently. I might be biased as I helped out their store in Tokyo but The Meadow has opened up my eyes and taste buds! Highly recommend in exploring the store and asking many questions! They also do simple gift wrapping

4/27/2023, Thurs: I stopped by 'The Meadow' on Mulberry St between Spring and Prince St in Nolita in NYC, and browsed and sampled the fleur de sel French coarse sea salt and the US state Oregon truffle mushroom infused sea salt, and then looked through the chocolate bars from Brooklyn and Bronx based Kraft companies and some of the chocolate sourced from Mexico and the Caribbean, about as local as it gets. The quality and selection were extremely high, and the staff very friendly and with expert knowledge, and the sea salt can be purchased in glass containers of different sizes that can be re-used or returned to the store for re-use. Sodium is one of the essentials in our diets, and the flavorful coarse sea salt on the surface of foods, has been said by many chefs and culinary writers to be what separates fine tasting foods from the average by the average home cook. The chocolate here is higher in cocoa and from smaller producers, and in many cases without any additives like even soy lecithin found in most larger chocolate producers and candy stores, and with less sugar or natural sugars substitutes such as Stevia. A very impressive selection of sea salt, chocolate, and other bitter selections such as black chickpeas, and samples of popcorn with the Oregon truffle sea salt, and even fresh cut flowers, at this one-of-a-kind store 'The Meadow', and even a pleasant place to visit.

Several times I was searching for the store in its old location...didn't know they had to close for a while and now reopened in a new location. And it just looks like the old store with the same good vibes going on. Chocolate from all over the world. Although I haven't tried them yet, but if it is anything like before, I won't be disappointed. Several of their Chocolates I already know. Tried to choose different kinds. For people being new to quality Chocolate it would be good to see the prices. I'm used to it and not shocked if a tablet costs over 10$.

Stepped in after seeing the board outside while walking in the area. They have a huge collection of chocolates from around the world. They also sell a lot of different salts and bitters. I had a great conversation with the lady who worked there, and she was able to give me recommendations for what kind of chocolate to buy based on my tastes.

One of my newest favorite stores to visit while in the area. From the assortment + aesthetic, to the hospitality. It is so much more than a boutique chocolate store; there is an array of salts (which you can ask to taste - if you show proof of vaccination), a section of bitters, elevated pantry staples (sesame miso, smoked shoyu etc), and flowers. I purchased the Fleur de Hell, mainly based on its name, but it’s got a great kick from the ghost chili pepper

Quiet little location that you may walk on past. Interesting items for sale that you didn't know you wanted. Mainly selling salt and salt related products. (Black truffle salt is a must!) We also purchased a selection of bitters for gin. They also had a number of other bitters for other liquor. A large selection of exotic chocolate. There was also a dog in the shop which gives it a special place status.

Definately a unique cozy place, specializing in chocolate and salt, where we can find a great variety of chocolates from all over the world, as well as different types of cocoa beans and different darkness percentage. Worth to mention their Sirene pure 100% cocoa bar. As for the salt, they have all kind of salts you can imagine, they even have delicious salted snacks such as Black truffle salted almonds. And some amazing ice cream from Venice Beach, CA, among other things. Worth to stop by!
