The Meat Hook Review - Williamsburg - New York - The Infatuation
"We wouldn’t be surprised if The Meat Hook mixes a few splashes of holy water into their sausages. The Williamsburg butcher shop also has fresh produce, prepared foods like potato or chicken salad, and incredible grass-fed pork, beef, and lamb from small farms across New York and Pennsylvania ready for your next cookout. Their sausages rotate regularly, but if you see the green chorizo, get it on your grill as soon as the coals are hot.
Meat Hook has locations in Carroll Gardens and upstate, in Hudson. They host butchery classes and other events, but the one to mark on your calendar is their summer BBQ, an annual series of pop-ups in their Williamsburg yard. About once a week through the season, they bring in chefs from other restaurants to collab on a grill-out menu. Keep an eye on their Instagram for the schedule, and get to at least one every summer.

Williamsburg’s the Commodore Opens in the East Village | Eater NY
"I see that Williamsburg’s whole-animal butcher, the Meat Hook, has opened at 301 Sackett Street (near Court Street) in Carroll Gardens, aiming to fill the void left by the closure of local butcher G. Esposito & Sons in 2023; the team is also preparing for their first upstate outpost on Hudson’s main drag on Warren Street." - Emma Orlow
The Meat Hook Is Opening Two More Butcher Shops | Eater NY
"At 301 Sackett Street near Court Street, the Carroll Gardens Meat Hook aims to fill the void left by G. Esposito & Sons' closure; a longtime customer and neighborhood resident helped Brent Young find the location. Expect "very similar" offerings to the Williamsburg shop in a space that’s similar in size but a little tighter and without a backyard, and this location will be managed by Steve Young." - Melissa McCart
Newest location of Williamsburg butcher shop. Smaller selection than the 2 other longstanding neighborhood butchers. But bright red beef and pink pork are great displays of the fresh quality meats. Love the sausages and charcuterie too.

We mostly like this new addition and do prefer them over other options in the neighborhood for some cuts of meat. Customer service can be very hit or miss. Some of the staff are consistently friendly whereas our experience with others is that we’re an inconvenience - which isn’t the best energy under which to be buying food! They can also be inconsistent about until when they’ll sell sliced meats. I’m glad they’re here and that I also have other options for the less than optimal times.

We truly love this place and visit it at least twice a week. The locally sourced meat is delicious and makes at-home meals such a treat. Don’t skip on the potato salad if they have it.

Not the best selection, but I've always been impressed with the friendly, knowledgeable staff and the quality of the meat.

If you are thinking of going here - go. The prices are not sky high. From ground meat to steaks and even chips, everything is fresh, well sourced, and thoughtfully curated. Simple, honest food done right.

I just had the craziest Matzo Ball Soup sausage made by Steve. It’s so good! It tastes just like matzo ball soup. Always a
good time at The Meat Hook

Fantastic products, only reason 4 stars is the employees act like they are doing you a favor. Record store energy. Great chicken salad, wish they made it more often and didn’t give you shit for asking.

Can’t decide if the staff, the service, or the meat quality is better ! Everyone is helpful friendly—and most importantly— knowledgeable about the meat. You can’t go wrong !
