"Most businesses on Mercer Island’s main drag are pretty quiet on weeknights—except for Allister. The warm glow from this upscale American restaurant shines like an anglerfish in a sea of darkened storefronts at 8pm. Inside the pastel and bronze-accented dining room, people bump knees at the bar and watch sports while perusing a surprisingly long cocktail menu. The food itself is nothing groundbreaking, but it works well for islanders looking to switch up their weeknight routine with decent steaks and salads. Use this place for a snack-filled nightcap or just an excuse to stay out past Mercer Island’s unofficial bedtime. Food Rundown photo credit: Kayla Sager-Riley Buddah Plate Every inch of leafy greens gets a good amount of herby dressing, generous slices of avocado, and sprinklings of fried chickpeas and barley. photo credit: Kayla Sager-Riley Allister Wagyu Cheeseburger This burger had the right idea, but no amount of toppings like cheddar and american cheese pulling double duty can hide the very undersalted patty. The fries, however, have more than enough salt— frizzled at the ends, limp (not soggy), and worth ordering on their own. photo credit: Kayla Sager-Riley Double R Ranch Wagyu Hanger Steak A shiny demi-glace clings to every crevice of a pink in the middle cut of meat. Mashed potatoes have a good mix of smooth and starchy chunks. And the carrots and broccoli are tender. There’s just nothing extra exciting about it. photo credit: Kayla Sager-Riley Pappardelle & Beef Ragoût The thick, chewy sheets of pappardelle have flavor, but the ragoût could benefit from a longer cook time so everything gets softer and saucier. Instead, the whole dish is a bit dry and begging for more salt." - Kayla Sager-Riley

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently transferred to a new home at The Mercer, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the outstanding support and professionalism of the team. From the beginning, Ms. Stefany, the property manager, demonstrated exceptional leadership in ensuring everything was handled smoothly. Her dedication to the residents and the community is truly commendable. A special thanks to Ms. Katie for her kindness, patience, and incredible attention to detail. She made the entire process seamless, from scheduling to follow-ups, and always made sure I had all the information I needed. The Mercer team as a whole has been fantastic—organized, responsive, and genuinely caring. Moving can be stressful, but their support turned it into a great experience. I highly recommend The Mercer to anyone looking for a well-managed, welcoming place to call home!

The best management team! The staff is always there to help with any need. The facilities are also very well kept and maintained. Stefany is just the most attentive and caring manager to work with!

My car got broken into.. in Mercer Island... I told the leasing office what happened but they did nothing about the broken gate. The gate to the parking garage does not work. It has never worked since I moved in 4 months ago. Also keep in mind that it costs $150 for parking but clearly will not be safe or secure. See picture.

I applied on Sep 19 and got response that will get approval and move-in details today. After tried contacting via email, leaving messages, calling in the past 3-4 days - just nobody answers. Only got one lady’s response this morning. However, until now still waiting for email. No more other forwarding process.

After about 3 years of living here, sadly, it will be coming to an end. Not because of anything wrong with these apartments, but just found job opportunities elsewhere. Even with staffing and maintenance personnel shortage, they still get the job done very well. The leasing office staff are super nice and have great constant communication. They have also gone above and beyond than any apartment I have lived in having creative and fun community events. As this place may be a bit higher in price than nearby complexes, there are things that make it well worth it. The building/walls are concrete, so you don't hear everything your neighbor does. Lastly, amazing amenities like sauna, hot tub, heated pool, and a well sized gym.

Very clean modern building with a pool sauna and hottub available all year. Management and staff are super friendly and caring as well. Great community as well!

Maintenance has been terrible, the hallways rarely get cleaned - gum and dog pee stains on the carpet for months. Courtyard amenities are to close for quiet hours but the doors don't lock and it's totally up residents. Garbage smells that you would want to avoid an entrance altogether. The office staff is friendly but can do nothing about maintenance. For 6+months the maintenance timeline has been 3-4weeks. Management is non-existent.

I have lived at The Mercer for about 1.5 years. Currently it is an extremely well managed complex. Stephanie is an excellent, professional property manager. She has hired good people and is very customer service oriented. Kevin ensures that his team provides prompt maintenance service. The reason for 4 starts rather than 5 is that security could be improved - especially access to the freight elevator and the rent is high.

Yelp
I've lived on the property for several years so I guess it's time to push out a review! Why have I stayed? Why do people keep going back to Disney? It's the employees! I'm serious, the office and maintenance staff people are awesome! The 3 office young ladies (40's isn't old) are very nice and smile. They always try to assist if you have an issue and even listen to your complaints when you know they can't do anything about it. At least I feel better after bringing something up. I really appreciate their work in organizing and keeping our packages safe, taking on inconsiderate residents, and coming up with resident events. The maintenance guys are awesome too! Kevin will be missed but Jay has stepped up and has taken over as the person who never stops moving! I'm very impressed about how much these guys are able to accomplish in a single day. They are always running around knocking stuff out. Again, they're always friendly and smiling. They are all just good people to be around. Ok, ok, there has to be something that you don't like right? Absolutely! If I owned the property, I would have made different decisions on where to spend my budget. It's not just about the facade of the building but the internal workings that also matter. That's if you want to keep people paying a premium to live here. It has to be cheaper to keep a resident than to flip the unit. It's advertised as a luxury apt complex so it should deliver. Where do I start? They spent a lot of money on the A/C units but the hallways are still hotter than they were with the old system. Fix the hallways and tint the hallway windows. It's normally 90 degrees with the A/C on! It's terrible. I'm sweating by the time I get down to my car. We have the slowest elevators that I have ever used in my entire life. They are terrible. Plus 1 door is rubbing pretty bad. Instead of fixing them, we received new low-light, light fixtures in all of the hallways. They had to go back and install recessed lighting due to how dark it was. The new mirrors in the elevators remind me of Las Vegas and they are still terrible. The NE corner emergency stairwell of the open/upper parking garage doesn't lock so you'll find a transient living at the top of the stairwell every couple of weeks. It needs to be secured or another door added so people can't go up the stairwell. The worst is the EV parking. I don't think the electrician did a very good job. There are only 3 spots left. I believe 2 of the spots are on the same breaker so if a non-Tesla vehicle tries to charge, it throws the breaker. Oh yeah, they 100% need to install wifi in the garages. We can't update our vehicles. Hey, it's the new EV world order. Here's a funny one. There's a cool looking bridge with what appears to be a roof for residents to use that connects the 2 buildings. It just looks like a roof but there's no roof! The beams were never covered so you'll be wet when you're trying to cross. The pool has been leaking into the parking garage for over a year so we're out 2 parking spaces. The waterfall feature for the hot tub no longer works so we've missed out on that for several months. The noise would drown out some of the noise created by people at the pool. Something else that I don't like about the property are the junk charges. For instance, you receive an electric bill for your unit then you receive another electric bill from the property for the property! That means the renters are paying for the common areas by being forced to split up the electric for the hallway lights, hallway A/C that doesn't work, the pool, EV charging, etc. My monthly common area bill has steadily increased. I'm paying the highest rent in the area. You guys pay your own electric bill. The parking is definitely the highest I've had to pay at $150 a spot. Honestly, if it wasn't for the staff, I would have bought a place on M.I. or in Bellevue already. 5 Stars for the staff and 3 for the owners.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Everything about it has been hands down top notch. My maintenance issues are always handled promptly and professionally by the most friendly maintenance crew. The front office people are always helpful and cheerful. I have lived here since 2018 and have never been so happy living anywhere. Celina

Yelp
I've lived here since 2016. Rent prices continue to climb with every renewal. I had to sign my renewal during the coronavirus outbreak, as I'm unable to move due to obvious reasons. Most apartment communities are offering incredible incentives to stay or to move in. Not the mercer. If you're looking for a property that is flexible and understanding, I encourage you to do your due diligence and investigate the other apartment communities on the island. Parking is an astronomical expense. Truly. Despite being mid-pandemic with coronavirus, staff (office staff, building maintenance and cleaning) are working without face masks or gloves. All amenities have been shut down. And rent still rises. Though it's a non smoking community, residents smoke in their apartments, and that smoke will enter your home. I've had to purchase two air filters and purifiers to try and combat the constant second hand smoke. WHY YOU MIGHT ENJOY LIVING HERE *The location is fantastic *Island is beautiful *Air conditioning works most of the time *West Building has nice finishes, but you can hear your neighbors sometimes *East Building has some old/worn finishes, but you don't hear your neighbors as much *There's a pool! (Living in a unit that faces said pool is very loud) *Parking (expensive), but free for guests if you have a pass for them *Maintenance team is super rad and friendly!

Yelp
Apartments are well maintained and our last two years stay have been good. However, the apartments are pricey, and utility costs are also pretty high. Unfortunately, due to Covid, we couldn't use on-premise amenities as well for last year. I am giving two stars due to our recent move-out experience. We were charged heavy move-out fees where equipment replacement charges were levied upon us (though the equipment was in working condition and might have required some clean-up/component replacements). If management decided to replace the equipment, they could have at-least subsidized the replacement cost.

Yelp
DO NOT RENT from The Mercer Apartments !!!!! one star because ZERO isn't an option! I came to visit a friend and I WAS considering moving to The Mercer but with this pandemic the lack of concern for their tenants safety from the CORONAVIRUS I would never move in a heartless , lack of concern for their tenants, greedy , and money hungry place . During this pandemic the property management has been nothing but horrible. They immediately closed down the office and all amenities, but the lack of concern for the tenants during this pandemic is absolutely disturbing. There so worried about shoes in front of tenants apartment door then the safety of their tenants! CDC clearly has stated shoes can carry the CORONAVIRUS. I'm glad I went to visit my friend before I rented from the Mercer!

Courtney B.

Yelp
Management has since changed and is back to taking advantage if its clientele. Rent will always increase when time for renewal. Try speaking w current residents to learn if it's better.

Shelena Y.

Yelp
I really enjoy living here. It is the end of our first year and so far so good (we'll see our next rental price soon and maybe be I'll change my mind :) ). However, the building is well kept, all my questions and concerns addressed properly on-time and with all possible respect and hospitality. There were some bumps on a roads in the beginning when the management team was adjusting to the building, but they did a great job since then. The gym is the state of art, the pool is clean, everything works smoothly :) I hope it would stay that way :)

Yelp
No Heat for Christmas While the management team is super friendly, imagine not having heat for more than three weeks over the holidays. I work my ass off all year to afford "luxury" living, but when it's time to rest at home for a couple of weeks they can't fix my heat. While they provided a space heater, it was just that - a "space" heater. It doubled my electric bill while heating a small area of my 860 square foot apartment with high ceilings. Never mind that my lips were blue every night I went to bed, and my clothes were like ice putting them on in the morning. The space heater kept my place above 59 degrees at night while doubling my electric bill. The yards are covered in dog shit, and I just pulled a chicken leg from my puppy's mouth from the garage. Do I sound cranky? Maybe because the cross-fit gym starts dropping weights at 5:30 AM. Despite multiple tenants moving out because of this, the building management says they can't do anything about it. I want to love this place for the fine finishes and location - BUT I still haven't warmed up after the holidays. Maybe if they had at least given me rent credits, I wouldn't be so mad. But I have to pay my overpriced rent, while they don't have to provide heat as long as they are trying "diligently." Can't wait for my lease to be up.

Yelp
The fairly new management team consisting of Katie, Amanda and Winter are the best! They really go above and beyond to meet that needs of us residents. Jonny on the spot maintenance crew that will look into any issue pretty darn quickly. I've lived here for 3 years and I just renewed my lease! If you are looking for a pet friendly, luxury (resort-like community) with a ton of amenities, 10 minutes from both Seattle and Bellevue with an all star management team, look no further than the Mercer Luxury Apartments. Added bonus- free daily cookies and coffee in the clubhouse. Love the hot tub, sauna, pool, and gym. I should also mention- Many free meals and drinks throughout the year in celebration of holidays. Free pizza in the clubhouse during every Seahawks game while watching it on the 60 inch Hi-def screen Happy resident

Yelp
I've lived here for 12 months and I would love to give 5 stars for the management team: Chris and Kellcee. (I didn't' get to interact much with Lisa at all). They are very precise and prompt on the communication aspect, such as answering your emails, phone calls, even through messaging system on the community website. It never took more than 2 days for maintentance to come up and fix things upon request, any billing questions or issues were professionally answered and most importantly, they listened to what my circumstances were and willing to help anyway they could. I also appreicated mass emails sent to residents on what was going on with the apartment such as alarm issues, garage door issues, pool noise, etc. Also they sent you a text and email on any events that might be going on and as well as office closure days. However, the reason why I'm giving overall 4 star review is because of those apartment issues. The alarms were going off at random hours (and they are excruciatingly loud), garage door wasn't working for almost 2 months and sporadically a few weeks here and there and yet they did charge extra fee for garage parking. Overall, it is a nice place to live since the location is perfect for those who work in Seattle or the east side. Easy access to freeways, walking distance to restaurants, grocery, coffee, yoga, and you feel safe walking alone even at night, also 15 dollar Uber ride to downtown for a night out is a nice perk!

Chris L.

Yelp
My wife and I loved living here so much, we renewed for a second lease. The amenities were great, the location is the best there is in the whole Seattle area, the residents were very friendly, and parks and grocery stores were a five minute walk away. So, why 1 star? Upon moving out, Lisa (the property manager) tried to completely fuck us over. I don't make accusations lightly, so let me explain why you should stay away from this place as long as Lisa still works here. 1) Even if you scrub and clean the place down, they'll still say everything is dirty, and charge you accordingly. 2) They tore out the carpet in our apartment, the one that's been there since The Mercer first opened more than 5 years ago. They replaced it with wood floors--and tried to make us pay for the upgrade! They conveniently didn't tell us that they were upgrading the apartment, they just told us that the cleaning company they use determined that the carpet was "damaged beyond repair" and needed to be replaced. We found out from our next door neighbor that what actually happened was they put in this new wood flooring. 3) I wanted to talk with someone from the cleaning company to ask what exactly made the carpet "damaged beyond repair"--I thought this claim was completely ludicrous and I wanted to get to the bottom of it. It turns out the price they charged us for the carpet replacement had NO FOUNDATION WHATSOEVER. The company who assessed the alleged property damage had a PO Box as an address, there was no phone # provided, and we couldn't find them on Google or Yelp. The company they used to assess all property damage is a MADE-UP COMPANY! The charges were so ridiculous and unfounded that when we contacted the Accounts Receivable department of Greystar (the company that manages The Mercer), they spent weeks trying to understand where these charges came from and ultimately they threw them out because they were completely unfounded! That's not even where the bullshit ends. When we tried to move out early, we found new tenants who were willing to move right in. This way we wouldn't have to pay for breaking our lease. Lisa actually went out of her way to intentionally sabotage our efforts in finding a new tenant to rent out the unit: 1) When prospective tenants we brought in through our Craigslist ads were waiting for us to meet them in the lobby, Lisa tried to poach them and show them other apartments, going to far as to tell them negative things about our apartment, and how they'd be much happier renting a different unit. (I'm completely serious about this.) 2) Lisa lied about the number of comparable units (1b/1ba) to pressure us into just breaking the lease and paying the big fee rather than finding a new tenant. She said there were 7 1b/1ba units available so ours was almost certainly not going to rent with so much competition, but the other leasing office representative looked it up later the same day and said they only had 3. 3) Lisa also told us that no comparable units were available to show prospective tenants to give them a point of comparison as to what our unit would look like. We talked to one of our neighbors about this and discovered that on our floor alone there were 3 different 1b/1ba units available for showing and Lisa completely lied to our face to undermine our chances of finding a new tenant for our unit. We are not the first tenants she tried to screw over, either. Look through the other reviews and see what people say about moving out. As much as we loved living at the Mercer--excellent location, beautiful apartments, great amenities--I would strongly NOT recommend living here so long as Lisa is the manager. She tried to fuck us over and she'll have no problem trying to fuck you over as well. As long as you're OK dealing with the same shit she put us through, then go ahead and take a closer look. Otherwise, try other apartment communities in the area--there are lots of nice luxury units in the area at comparable prices, and who don't have horror stories of how the managers tried to fuck over their tenants.

Yelp
"The Mercer" paints a pretty picture, from the swimsuit model that coos enticingly, "Follow me to The Mercer", to the Overlook hotel lobbies, with faux fresh flowers freshening the end of each corridor. The A/C is indeed nice when it's turned on, but they do not tell you the system is NOT on most of the year. When it isn't, it teasingly mocks you by blowing out hot air. Quiet? Well, yes, the concrete walls are wonderful at drowning out any noise from the neighbors, and most of the residents are quite nice. But it's definitely not quiet. You hear the numerous children literally screaming several times a day; closing the windows doesn't help, as the windows aren't soundproofed. In the morning, the chat of the maintenance staff resonates in the echo chamber as they attend the pool. At night, you may be soothed by the sounds of teenagers merrily chatting, singing in the hot tub, or an occasional all-out party with accompanying music. Each year, the rent went up at a staggering pace, dwarfing the rate of inflation. After a year, the rent went up 8.47%. When our second lease was up, we were kindly offered an additional 16.92% rent increase. Those precipitous rent increases included parking, but not the utility (ISTA) bills of $100 to $200 a month. You may be reminded of 'Das Boot' by nagging feelings of claustrophobia in your smallish apartment or the parallels with management, but it's really not that bad. Regarding the "amenities" at "The Mercer": The dog urine-scented freight elevator supports the frequent turnover in residents. When it's in use you have to schlep over to the other elevators once you realize your wait is in vain. Having the paper delivered outside your door is nice, except when it isn't; then you keep opening the door periodically, waiting for its arrival. There's also the 'Miss Mercer' contest, if you'd like to participate. Parking, or most anything else, costs extra $$. The crammed parking slots challenge your spatial reasoning skills, reminding you of those small metal puzzles you did when you were young. The concrete posts, and occasional scraped car door, remind you that failure is not an option. The granite counters in each apartment deserve a special call-out. The granite is really more a burden than a luxury. Research the "water test" before moving in, When I asked the leasing agent, after moving in, about the dark water splotches left behind by any wet items, such as water glasses, she said the temporary dark colorations were normal, as granite absorbs water, and not to be concerned about them. I also asked the building maintenance staff, and bought the recommended granite counter protection treatments at True Value. In both cases, neither staff member suggested that the counters might need to be resealed, as recommended by numerous granite care sites when this kind of problem occurs. Self-clean the oven at your own risk, and remove pets, plants, and children first. I used one fire extinguisher the first time we tried it (fire in the oven), but the maintenance staff said not to worry about it or the large volumes of acrid smoke. Fortunately, I had a fire extinguisher available for the second fire, too. The second fire was on top of the stove, and only had high flames. Despite the 3.8K lease escape penalty, at some point you may consider leaving. Your relationship with management now changes from resident to supplicant. I was charged with mucho $$$ for a brand new granite countertop in the bathroom when I moved out, due to water stains. Only then did I research granite countertops, and learn about the water test. You may have better luck, and your move out charge may only be about $500: about $200 for cleaning, even if you vacuumed and mopped the floor, and about $300 for your final ISTA bill. Recovering my security deposit at "The Mercer" was a challenge: At first the manager said that the lease concession (they were offering $500 iPads when I moved in, and the leasing agent, said I could apply it to rent, either monthly or all at once) was applied to my refundable pet deposit, so nothing was due back. I had to find the documents showing that it was clearly called out as a refundable deposit upon move-in. Perhaps your experience will be better; ours had all the joy of a root canal. Our advice to prospective tenants: Provide written maintenance orders once a year requesting that your granite be resealed. Learn about the water test, and request resealing when that fails. Do not use water near the bathroom sinks. Do not use the self-cleaning feature in the oven. If you don't want noise from the pool area, do not get an apartment overlooking the pool. If you don't want noise from the Starbucks trucks, about 5 AM, don't get an apartment in the front. If you have family, dogs, and love all the bells and whistles, have an elastic definition of luxury, you may enjoy "The Mercer". All others: Caveat emptor.

Alex H.

Yelp
Don't fall for the "luxury" scam this place portrays. I pay 2385 for a two bedroom two bathroom apartment, and let me describe what "luxury" amenities I am provided with: 1.) A one room tanning bed that consistently has burnt bulbs and no bed cleaner, or towels. The room is always cold, I've discovered you have to turn the bed on and wait to undress so you don't freeze (The leasing agent also failed to mention the tanning was extra, she said everything was included, like a "resort" but whatever...) 2.) Elevators that take forever, or are not operational due to the constant fluctuation of tenants moving out. And a lack of equipment to haul our groceries or purchases up 5 flights. 3.) A pool that's consistently fully of loud teenagers or drunken adults up until all hours of the night. When you tell the management regarding the late night noises nothing happens. They don't seem to care about the midnight madness. I can tell you my husband and I have complained nearly 20 times and not once has any staff called us back. Not one reply from any person, a complete lack of respect for our concerns, but they certainly take our money every month no hesitation 4.) The gym is consistently out of sanitary wipes. The equipment is broken and dusty. Chunks of plastic on the ellipticals are missing and the screens don't work. Of the 3 treadmills 2 are typically our of order. 5.) The parking is an extra 200$ if you want a spot that's secured and by secured I mean, a fob is required to get in and out and half the time the gate doesn't work properly. Hope you don't get trapped in. And if you pay 200$ a month for parking shouldn't the gate work so your vehicle is secure at all times? Not just half the month. But of course they wouldn't prorate their own mess ups. 6.) The concrete walls eliminate some noise but not all, don't let them scam you on that "amenity" 7.) Inside the apartment itself, the washer and dryers squeal and take forever to dry. And when I asked the handy man staff to look at them, they apparently all do that. Granite counter tops have chunks missing on them. The bathroom mirror in my apartment has wood pieces missing and paint drips on the glass from the shoddy maintenance job. The tile and grout always leave this weird black/gray stain even if the littlest of water is dropped on the ground in the bathroom. 8.) The carpet in the hallways, and entrance to the freight elevator stink of pungent urine. Overall the location is great and ultimately that's what you pay for. But beware this is not what I had anticipated from a luxury apartment. Perhaps that's why my husband and I are opting to break our lease and pay $5000 just to get out of this joke. Good luck.

Mike J.

Yelp
A friend of mine lives here. Parked in their parking lot for 20 minutes, came back down, and all my stuff was stolen (nearly $6k worth...nothing in plain view). They have no video surveillance in their parking lots (which would probably cost them under 5k to install). The police officer told me that it was likely a resident and knew that they had no cameras here (which tells me this happens routinely). Talked to the property manager and asked her to review the footage inside the complex (If it was a resident, they would've been able to see them carry my stuff inside). She agreed. Left multiple messages, never received a call back. If you're looking for safety in an apartment complex, do not consider this place. If you're looking for a management team that cares about you and follows up with you, look for something else.

M E.

Yelp
Well, one would hope that after three months, things would get better, but they are only getting worse. People have stopped using the freight elevator due to the smell of dog urine. Unfortunately, those taking the stairs are left to navigate puddles of dog urine and smeared feces. Requests to clean the carpets fall on deaf ears. A dog friendly apartment should expect to do more cleaning, but alas, our management doesn't grasp the concept. Downgrading to two stars as the cost to stench ratio is off.

Bella D.

Yelp
We lived here for one year, in unit 642, before buying a home. I absolutely loved this place. The staff was very friendly and the location exactly within walking distance to everything. We had a pool view and the noise didn't bother me one bit. For god sakes, if you can't handle the noise, then don't move into an apartment. Or just buy a damn box fan. We got our deposit back. Why? Because we took care of our apartment. We didn't break doors, or use the washing machine to churn mud, or let our pets and babies shit all over the walls. We kept it clean and treated the unit with respect. THAT'S how you get your deposit back. The same people bitching about deposits are probably the same ones scraping their kitchen chairs across the laminated flooring every damn night.

Robert M.

Yelp
I love living here. People are friendly. The staff is engaged in creating community within the building and my experience has been that they take care of things right away when there are issues.

V B.

Yelp
LOVE this place - perfect location for walking to every convenience imaginable, great amenities (pool, gym, complimentary espresso and freshly-baked cookies), and the management and maintenance team are immediately attentive and responsive to residents. So many fun events to connect with our community and the spaces are gorgeous and well-appointed. Don't want to leave!

Roxana D.

Yelp
The positives: - apartments are really quiet (ie, soundproof); I have never heard noise from my neighbors the entire time I've lived here - gym is pretty good and has all the basics - maintenance department fixes any issues in less than 24 hrs - location is great The negatives: - receptacles for dog waste are not cleared nearly as often as they should and they are always full...same goes for the recycling rooms on each floor - pool hours are 10 pm nightly. If you or young children go to bed before then, you are not keeping your windows open as the pool noise will be heard from your apt - BIGGEST ISSUE!!! Air conditioning no longer functions the way it has in the past. Basically if the majority of the building doesn't have their AC turned on, you aren't getting any cold air. This has been an issue when it is anywhere from 75-85 degrees outside. Management has not done anything about this and instead tells you to turn your AC on so the boiler system will flip over. Doing this when it is set to warm air then made the inside of my apt building go from 74 degrees to 76 degrees. This continues to be the case even now in the middle of June. There are a lot of great things about living here but it is unacceptable to be paying for an AC serviced apt building but not get any AC in the summer. Knowing what I know now if I was looking to rent I would do it elsewhere

Yelp
My husband and I (and our little dog) lived at Mercer Place for about 2 years from 2012 to 2014 and I'm sorry it's taken so long to finally write this review. Overall we had a pleasant stay and our encounters with management and staff were very positive. Also, the maintenance team promptly responded to any repair requests. Shout-outs to Lisa, Kevin, Erin and Jason (the personal trainer)! Our unit was isolated so we weren't bothered by noise from neighbors, however, we did encounter regular disturbance from Subway/Starbucks delivery trucks and garbage trucks between 3a-5a. I worked diligently with the City, the local garbage company, and with Subway and Starbucks (not the drive thru, but the other one) to get delivery times under control. Hopefully someone benefits from my work. I don't recall issues with random fire alarms mentioned in other reviews. The complex is very nice overall though and we'd consider renting there again. Our unit was well appointed and we loved our expansive light/bright apartment with high ceilings. Mercer staff regularly plans fun events for tenants almost monthly -- I recall the big summer BBQ by the pool being the best one of all. The multi-use trails in the area are unbelievable -- get out and use them! If you have a dog, walk it! The parks and green spaces are gorgeous and the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest abounds. If you can deal with wet/damp weather 8-9 months a year you'll be thrilled when summer arrives. I recommend doing the Mercer 5K or Half Marathon in March, watching the local parade, enjoy the Farmer's Market, and run across 90 bridge to Seattle or towards Bellevue and watch the jets at SeaFare --spectacular! Take a gazillion pics of the incredible foliage and fall colors so if you move you'll have them as memories! OH and one of the very best things about living at Mercer Place....having Bennett's restaurant attached to the building! Be prepared to spend money there and love every bite! The happy hours are awesome too - best sliders in Seattle!

Yelp
My family of four lived in the Mercer for about a year after returning from a relocation from the East Coast. We loved the central location, the friendliness of the staff, and the kids especially liked the pool. Our neighbors were friendly and considerate and we had no problems with hallway noise or other distractions. Our apartment looked out onto the pool from the 4th floor and we were unperturbed by poolside activities. For families who are considering the Mercer, the school bus stop is just a couple of blocks away and an easy walk for elementary school kids. Our kids learned to navigate it when they were in 2nd and 3rd grades respectively. Perhaps it's changed in the few years since we lived there, but our experience was first rate.

Yelp
My husband and I lived at The Mercer for a couple of years. It was generally a bad experience. The rent increases every year were HUGE! I also believe they overcharged us when we moved out of the building. Don't recommend The Mercer!

Yelp
The staff is incompetant and unhelpful. My bf and I were looking for a place to move and decided Mercer Island would be nice since it's between both Bellevue and Seattle. After visiting the apts, and seeing the new building being built as an add on, we decided this was the place for us. After putting down a signficant deposit, we were told that we'd receive weekly updates on the progress of the new buiding. That never happened. We had to call multiple times, even tricking the staff by calling the line designated for folks who would like to come check out the apartments. It's amazing how quickly they answered there, but never responded to the multiple voicemails I left. We were told the move in date would be 12/15, then on 11/29 I reached out again to confirm the date since I still needed to give my current apt notification of my move out. I left a message. No response. I called again, no response. After a few days of this, my bf then called the future residence line and finally got a pick up. They advised us the date had been pushed out, but they didn't have an idea of when they would be completed. Now, I'm a pretty patient person IF you just keep me in the loop. But this is ridiculous!! After a few more weeks we decided to go elsewhere since this whole experience was becoming more and more concerning. After we quickly found a new apt, I reached out to find out if we could recieve the deposit back since we never signed the lease. Of course... like always... I call, leave a message... get nothing back. I call, leave another message... get nothing back. I call, advise that I'll be stopping by the office for an update, still get nothing back. I just happend to call right before I was about to head over when I FINALLY got a pick up. The person this time adivsed me that though we haven't signed a lease, we couldn't get the deposit back. I asked why it took 4 calls for me to get that info, and she stuttered around about not being in office... calling me back... but umm... maybe she had the wrong number (I left it 4 freak'n times!!!).... This whole experience has been beyond frustrating. At this point I'm happy to eat the cost of the deposit just to officially be done with the Mercer.

Yelp
LEASE AN APARTMENT HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE ROBBED... Management just want to charge you for every nickel and dime. I paid them around $4000 for breaking the lease (I am ok with it as it was stated in the contract). However, they charged me additional $400 for cleaning the apartment when I had cleaned my apartment really well. I spoke to the management, who was very rude, about it and they said this is a standard charges and I would have to pay regardless the condition of my apartment.

Yelp
The staff is really nice. Apartments are clean and well maintained. The apartments are surprisingly quiet. Some of the residence could use some lessons in common courtesy. When your dog poops, clean it up. It's not rocket science. Some of the other reviews complained of this, but I really don't know what the management could do about it. Some, not all, just need to realize that they are sharing a living space and need to be more respectful of others. But hey, that's apartment life.

Yelp
The Mercer is an amazing place to live. The atmosphere is warm with class. It is in my opinion like living at a resort. I come home to beautifully kept grounds and great amenities. The Mercer upgrades and keeping things in top order. I could not ask for a better staff that is articulate and action oriented to make sure things are taken care of. With all that said I definitely recommend making The Mercer your destination for luxury living.

Yelp
This is an update five years later ! I am happily still a resident and have no intention of moving . The Mercer is more than a building it is a family . The management and maintenance are the best ever! No service request goes unheeded . I consider the team part of my family . Probably to their dismay , as I'm always trying to be their Jewish mother . Katie and Wynter always go the extra mile for residents and have become my computer techs .

Yelp
I love it here! The property is great and the staff are very helpful. The maintenance technician, Brian Chubb, resolved my service request quickly and with accuracy.

Yelp
We lived here for 5 years and loved staying here. Great location and nice building with good services. It is nice place to raise little one, you can hardly hear noise from next door or someone above you. When we requested maintenance service, they never took more then a day. You dont even have to change a light bulb, they do all that for you. We had some issues with parking when new management took over but they did try real hard to get my parking spot back which I really appreciated. Overall it was very nice place to live.

Yelp
The mercer apartments are really nice. Me and my girlfriend are looking to move to mercer island and after touring the apartments we have decided that we will probably be moving here. The office staff seemed very busy and although they were kind of busy in the office they still paid attention to us. On the tour she took us around and showed us the amenities and the actual apartment we are thinking about renting. The rent prices are crazy high but its a sky rise in downtown mercer island so you get what you pay for and hopefully its worth it. We are aiming for a August move in and have a decision to make with another complex in mercer island. These are very nice and everything is updated. This is definelty luxury living and honestly I think it will be worth the extra money. I have some time to think about it but I really like the feel of the office the gym is amazing and I was very pleased with how clean the apartment and office was. They seem to really be on top of things. I really like the cabana area and they have lounge areas with fire pits which is awesome. We really have some thinking to do. The manager was amazing and very nice.

Yelp
I enjoy living at The Mercer and while it is a nice apartment complex especially for the cost, and very conveniently located, I would not call it "luxury" by any means. The Mercer is about three years old and still looks good. The apartments are attractive, the kitchen and bath have granite slab counters and they paint the apartments between tenants so it is fresh. The new landscaping in the pool courtyard is great and maintained by an outside company (this is good because only one of the mercer maintenance guys- Bruce ever actually seems to work) . The staff is all very friendly, but they have no sense of urgency, for example if you tell them a dog has peed in the lobby, instead of running out with paper towels and an all purpose cleaner, they say "OK, we will call someone". They don't seem to have a sense of what "luxury" means either- one of the things I find funny is the broken, paint spattered chair that is used to "decorate" the 3rd floor elevator area, and the sad events they hold for the complex that are poorly planned and poorly advertised. However sad those things are, here is what I really dislike: There appears to be only one lady who cleans the entire complex and she does it half heartedly. The hallways, elevators, stairs, surrounding grounds and residence lounge are dirty. The tile floors in the elevator lobby/mail area have ground-in dirt. The carpets are in desperate need of a cleaning. Dogs have urinated in the elevators, and on our floor a dog has defecated several times in the hallway. Instead of cleaning the carpets, a strong smelling spray is used to cover up the smell. It seems strange that an apartment building does not have a rug cleaner that they can pull out to clean spots on the carpet when a negligent pet owner doesn't get their dog out in time, and with pets in the complex the carpets really do need to be cleaned at least twice a year. Also some of the residents don't pick up after their dogs outside (even with convenient bags provided by the apartment) and maintenance doesn't pick it up either. A twice daily walk through of the complex by the manager would probably catch some of the issues/areas that need to be cleaned. I'd like to give The Mercer 5 stars, because it is a beautiful building, the staff are pleasant and the rents are good for the area and for the amenities, but a "luxury" apartment needs to have much better maintenance and better attention to detail than this.

Yelp
I've lived in these apartments for two years and love it here! The units are spotless, so quiet, and the amenities are amazing (year-round heated pool and hot tub, 24-hour fitness room), The maintenance crew rocks and the facility staff are so nice and professional. Best place ever!
