"Anyone looking to grab a bottle of wine, a slice of pizza, and/or bike gear will find a home at the Meteor, which is an extremely casual counter-service cafe, bottle shop, and bike shop. It offers coffee, pizza, breakfast sandwiches, and grain bowls. Order online to skip the line, though bike chains aren’t available to go." - Darcie Duttweiler
"The Meteor on South Congress is a one-stop shop if you’re on your way to a pizza-and-wine cyclist meetup at a park. The equal parts cafe, wine bar, and pizzeria (which also doubles as a bike shop), is a great casual spot to pop in for a glass and some tinned fish, even if you’re not here for an oddly-specific event. The focus here is on natural wines that won’t break the bank, with plenty of bottles falling in the $25-$35 range. If you’d rather hang out in your living room with your cat and enjoy some wine in peace (why are you still reading this guide?), they also have a wine subscription service." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion
"The Meteor is a reliable neighborhood spot if you live in the area, with round, sourdough pies that are just good enough to satisfy a craving for carbs and cheese. They also make some sandwiches—including a solid burger if you prefer your carbs and cheese in handheld form—and a few salads, if you want nothing to do with carbs and cheese. It’s one of our favorite places in town for drinking wine—and it only gets better during Happy Hour with half price glasses of wine (and cheeseburgers)." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs, max bonem
"Equal parts cafe, wine bar, pizzeria, and bicycle shop, The Meteor is a great casual spot to pop in for a glass of wine and some light bites. It’s located just far enough away from the busy part of South Congress to make it a welcome escape from all the action, or as a bookend on either part of a long day trying on new sunglasses and boots. The specialty here is round, sourdough pizzas that are good for satisfying the inevitable post-shopping craving for carbs and cheese, but there are also pastries, sandwiches, and salads. It’s one of our favorite places in town for drinking wine—and it only gets better during Happy Hour with half price glasses of wine (and cheeseburgers)." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion, matthew jacobs
"This neighborhood bar has made harm reduction part of its hospitality practice: staff began stocking naloxone kits behind the bar about two years ago, and the kits — along with fentanyl test strips — are both kept for emergencies and made available for customers to take. Bartender Tyler Kleinow frames the role as part of basic care: "It’s healthy to remind yourself that you’re not performing brain surgery, but at the same time, you are responsible for other people’s lives to an extent," and adds pragmatic behavioral guidance: "Like, don’t be pretentious, don’t be an asshole. But also, you do have a job." The bar even issued a blunt Instagram PSA to reduce risk: "We don’t want you to do any nose stuff here, but you sneaky little shits are going anyways so please be safe." - Justine Jones
