Overall, a decent place for unique sandwiches. Have tried most on the menu and would recommend all except the Chicken Parm (which isn't a breaded chicken cutlet, but sliced chicken and sauce) and do find their roast beef a bit under seasoned. Good vegetarian options! Don't really appreciate having their political views shoved in your face when you walk in... would be better to stay focused on the good food and service they provide.

Yummm! 😋 I cannot get enough of their Shrimply the Best sandwich. I get very cranky on Sundays or Mondays when I'm craving my sandwich. Grrrr! Blast you Milk Bar for creating a sandwich addict! I go through withdrawals during their holiday breaks. 😩

First time in New Orleans and we're so happy we spotted this place and decided to dine in! Staff is super friendly and made us feel like royalty. Food came out quickly and was delicious. Strawberry lemonade was refreshing. They even gave free lollipops with each order; super cute. Definitely recommend this place!

I’ve been eating at the Milk Bar for years and have never been disappointed. The sandwiches & salads are delicious, great service and the location is clean & decorative. My favorite is the Empirely Delicious & raspberry lemonade!

This is an interesting place for sure people and servers are fantastic, the food was ok. When you eat in Nola you expect something superior this place was just average on flavor the roast beef definitely needed more something. Anyway you can have amazing milk shakes there for sure so they got 3 stars total.

It's been many years since I've been here, but I was determined to get back this trip. The Shrimply the Best did not disappoint! As delicious as I remember all those years ago and the service was great! Located in the Riverbend area (on the streetcar line) with lots of parking, this gem offers a twist on the local sandwich/poboy offerings. So worth it!

An impomptu stop for us on the green tram line, relaxed atmosphere, accomodating to coffee and sandwich requests, good portion sizes, friendly owner/staff openly chatting and approachable. Cow art on walls are great touch.

I really love sandwiches, and it has treated me very well. I ate here before I proposed to my wife. There are a number of seats available for dining. I like the Shrimply the Best sandwich. The cheese and shrimp just ooze out. I thought I wasn't going to get full, but it turned out to be very filling. I highly recommend this spot for anyone who enjoys a good sandwich.

My favorite sandwich place in the entire city and I'm obnoxiously picky -Occidental Oriental

This was the first eatery I returned to when I came to NOLA this year. I got my favorite, Yam I Am, a sandwich with a delicious combination of veggies, cheeses and dressing on a yummy roll. Enough for two meals. My friend got the I Dream of Aubergenie, another excellent vegetarian sandwich. There are also several options for carnivores. Before I leave town, I always return to The Milk Bar for a sandwich or two to take on the road. Give the Milk Bar a try. You won't regret it!

My brother and I opted for the Ocidental Oriental Ciabatta Sandwich, containing chicken, peanut satay sauce, mozzarella, red peppers, cucumber, carrot, cilantro, and shredded lettuce. The pros: it's a very big sandwich, very dollar friendly. The cons: the flavor was lacking, just mid par. Also the strawberry milkshake was acceptable but I've had much better.

This very humble sandwich shop is the bomb! Funny, that's their signature sandwich too. My friend had da bomb and I had a poboy. I doubt you can go wrong. Did I mention the milkshakes, sweet, cold and delicious. Definitely will visit again when I visit next.

Milk bar has hearty sandwiches with flavorful combinations from simple to unusual made with love by a lovely local couple who love and know their community. Offerings have vegetarian options and great salads too.

Clearly Milk Bar turned this location around since my last review (in 2014). When my first lunch choice was unexpectedly closed, I was hunting around for a new spot and this popped up in my Yelp search and I immediately started thinking about my favorite sandwiches. I had the always yummy Shirley Valentine AND a cup of the soup of the day which was tomato basil. The SV was delicious and filling as always and the soup hit the spot. I need to get back over there for a Shrimply the Best soon. I miss having them closer when they had a spot over on Prytania, but then their milkshakes were dangerously close to my house. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Most folks take out but there are some tables to dine in but don't plan to linger. The parking lot for the strip mall usually has spots but there is also off street parking.

So, I have a story for you. This place used to be downtown- by Tulane's Tidewater building. I went in one August afternoon for a sandwich. Got it wrapped up and took out my wallet to pay. Credit card machine was down and I had no cash. Guy behind the counter said- 'get me next time.' Two days later, Katrina shut NOLA down. We moved away, but we have a college student who decided to go to NOLa. I'm driving around and I see 'The Milk Bar' on Carrollton. Can't be. I go up, see the menu on the door- it is. I'll be danged. I go in, order, eat- sandwich was fantastic- and the place starts filling up. They start running out sandwiches and there's the guy. I go up to him, $20 in hand and tell him the story. He won't take my money. He just laughs. I leave it on the counter and start to go and he says, 'Wait, I'll get you a shirt.' Ignore the strip mall location. This sandwich shop is one of the best uptown. The bread is made in house and the different kinds of sandwiches- all are good. They even offer poboys- but their signature sandwiches are the bomb.

Absolutely delicious! I'm not sure if it's just me but the bread is almost kind of sweet, reminded me of a donut, maybe because it was really soft? Not as sweet as donut though. The staff are great. I came in on a Tuesday around noon and it took about 5 minutes for my sandwich to be ready. They offered me a cold water while I waited. After 5 minutes, 9 people came in to get in line so be prepared to wait s little. This place is always booming. I got the clooney's choice and it was great. The toppings and cheese melted in my mouth. This place is located off S Carrollton Ave nearby Walgreens with plenty of parking.

Ok wow! I'm not typically a sandwich person, but work was ordering so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Shrimply the best and was blown away by how delicious this sandwich was. It had the perfect balance of shrimp, pesto, and cheese. It was fantastically creamy and perfectly seasoned. I would absolutely recommend this place!

I had one of the best milkshakes I have ever had. It was the caramel milk shakes. It was reasonably priced. My husband and son had malts and they said they were great.

Grabbed lunch to go and boy was this place hopping. Had to wait a bit so I ordered a chocolate shake while waiting. That was gone in about a second. Yum! Fun moo cow art decorates the walls and a good amount of rotating self seating. I ordered the Aubergenie and Occidental. On this trip I added, chips. Both sams came bagged individually with an added lolli for dessert, it was perfect for my impromptu picnic. My sandwich was so juicy and big that I shared it with another friend and was more than full on just 1/2 a sam. Take advantage of calling ahead or online if picking up, it'll make things ho much faster.

By far the best sandwich shop in New Orleans. Great service, quality is always on point, and its menu feeds any soul! I eat here every two weeks, but it would be everyday if I had my way. My go to is the Roasted Turkey, but the Psycho Chicken and Blue Healer are great mix ups!

Very good food. Ingredients are always fresh and the workers are always nice! Portions are huge & the prices are also very reasonable!

Sandwich Was bland and they don't make the milkshakes fresh to order, keep them in a deep freezer. Staff was nice though.

Simply DELICIOUS! Service was wonderful. I was greeted upon my arrival and exited. It was a wonderful experience. I ordered the sautéed shrimp on French bread and it was amazing. The combination of shrimp and mozzarella was delicious. I saw people ordering the milkshakes, so I decided to order one as well. I went with the strawberry fields. In my personal opinion I would have like there to be a bit more strawberry flavor. Because honestly it just tasted like frozen pink milk. I would DEFINITELY recommend this place. It's great for college students as well as the older crowd. Parking is a slim because it's in a strip mall with other busy businesses. It's right off the street car line so On a beautiful day like today it's good to leave the car and take a bike or street car (if you can). Hope you enjoy

Holy ****. The best sandwiches you've ever had in your entire life served to you by an Australian dude who says things like "no worries." This is accurate to the experience. I indeed have no worries after eating this sandwich. Try that I dream of aubergenie.

The Milk Bar has great sandwiches, salads and the best homemade milk shakes at a reasonable price. It is so easy to drop in there.

A really great spot for sandwiches! They have a great selection, with my favourites being the Sweet Thai Chilli Chicken and Christmas in July (pictured). The portion is quite large so it can be split across two meals, and they accept NOLABUCKS, which makes it a really great option for Tulane students. Also, the candy is a nice touch. :) COVID-19 Response: they've been operating under take-out only, and you can call ahead and pick up at your convenience. The staff are always friendly which is a big plus!

Was looking forward to treating my son to a good shake based on the name and the rating. Was disappointed that the chocolate shake wasn't much better than a frosty from Wendy's. Chipotle ranch salad with chicken and chicken Caesar salad were average.

Finally got the chance to try milk bar, every time I craved a sandwich it was a Monday and they were closed. :( I will say it was worth the wait! Everything was delicious and came out pretty quick. They don't have dine in right now it's just a counter set up in the front door.

Milk Bar has adopted the COVID19 "greet you in the doorway" model of business, strictly take out. The usual applies, though: novel (though not novel like the you-know-what) salads with fresh and surprising ingredients, creative hot dishes, and sandwiches that can be a nice change of pace from a po-boy. Or, if you are still marching to the po-boy beat, those too; the roast beef meets with this tradtionalist's approval but you can also get more novel (gotta come up with a better word!) creations with Thai Chilli and lamb. But, it's a Milk Bar after all, and they live up to that name with some excellent shakes. I know they're good because it's pushing midnight a week later as I write this and my mouth is watering just thinking of a Go Bananas. They also sell coffee, haven't tried that, because "milk bar" always puts me in the mood for one of their milkshakes. Their specials range across salads, sandwiches, and shake flavors and I usually take up the challenge. I had a particularly memorable daily special salad with some kind of sweet potato served in a savory way. Excellent! COVID19 practices: Outside pickup and waiting only, restaurant staff are masked and hit the sanitizer between customers, they offer minimal touch (might have even been no-touch?) credit card payment, and the clientele were uniformly compliant with distancing and masking protocols. You can loiter (at safe distance), or they will call your cell phone. Or if you're really luck, you can get a parking spot in front and they'll wave when your takeout is ready.

Located in a strip off Carrollton this is a hidden gem! I placed a pickup to go order of the Psycho Chicken sandwich and a strawberry lemonade. The strawberry lemonade was perfect, 10/10 just sweet enough. The sandwich was good, but it was slightly dry. And frankly- not worth $11. But it was good! Very friendly staff and good food! Definitely would go back!

Great sandwiches and can easily sub in other stuff if you are vegetarian! I've tried two and loved them so far.

Blue cheese lovers, the blue Heeler is your go to sandwich (if you love roast beef and are also not vegan!). This sandwich is phenomenal. First, the ciabatta bread was light and buttery. The sandwich, itself, is toasted perfection. They give you a hearty serving of meat. My only complaint is that the meat could be a bit more seasoned. It's not bland, but it's also not seasoned to my liking. But, have no fear! They re-compensate for any lack of seasoning with the other ingredients! They give nice portions of the other ingredients, especially cheese! When you pull the sandwich apart, you're likely to get that "stringy effect" from the cheese that you see on commercials. I cannot wait to go back. The service is awesome! I truly believe this place is worth a try, and they have just enough odd combinations to please a pregnant woman. I will definitely update this review as I try more of their items.

These are great sandwiches. Highly recommend asking them to hold off on the heavy mayo. Bread and meat were great quality.

I love me some cows!!! But not to eat of course. Paintings of cows and a name like Milk Bar are right up my alley. My brother brought us here before a nice long day of Mardi Pardi-ing for some delicious sandwiches. It didn't disappoint! The bread tastes just like bagel bread (but isn't a bagel) and the sandwich selection is VAST. The staff was super lively and fun and made the process of waiting in line and ordering fun somehow. I ordered a veggie sandwich with cream cheese and sprouts. It was a little heavy on the sprouts but it was warm and soft and just delicious. Everybody else loved what they ordered! I wouldn't have expected a place like this to exist in basically a strip mall, but we enjoyed it!

Ahh Milk Bar is one of my greatest joys of being a college student in NOLA. Their sandwiches are to die for. I'm ashamed to say I have found myself here 3 times in one week once hehe. The service and hospitality is one of the best I've experienced! One sandwich could last me two meals also for such a great price. Not to mention the cheesepull ouhh!

Finally checked this place out for lunch after passing it up several times. A friend and i decided to split a sandwich n salad since we couldnt decide on 1 thing. Place is really cute inside..various pics of cows. They specialize in milkshakes but i didnt partake. The salad was really tasty but a bit overdressed. The toasty sandwich had good flavor but was a tad bit small for the price. Its a small venue so its perfect for small groups of four or less. Worth a return trip.

This is a very good sandwich shop in the city! I actually find it difficult to come across a good spot that specializes in sandwiches...sometimes you don't want a poboy lol, just a sandwich even though they do actually sell poboys as well!). And Milk bar is the spot I'd been looking for. I've tried 2 sandwiches so far, and I think they've mastered pairing the meat protein with toppings and condiments to make for a great end product. Also, the sandwiches are a nice size; I typically eat only one half at a time. I do think that their items are a bit pricey, but as I said, I don't think there are many spots in the city to achieve what they do here, so I don't mind. They also have salads and smoothies...haven't tried yet but I want to! I'd definitely recommend!

This is a cute little spot with solid sandwiches. I got the Clooney's choice sandwich (tomato, roasted red peppers, avocado, mozzarella, cilantro, marinated chicken and lemon mayo which I omitted because I don't like mayo). and my husband got a roast beef po boy. My sandwich was really yummy, the bread was warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the cheese was perfectly melted. Both of our sandwiches were really fresh, too. I also liked that they didn't put too much chicken on the sandwich, it was just the right amount. So why four stars instead of five? I didn't love the chicken in my sandwich-it didn't taste or look marinated to me and was kind of bland. Don't get me wrong, I still really enjoyed my sandwich but I wasn't totally blown away to the point where I'd give it five stars. Regardless though, I'd still happily return to milk bar and try some of their other sandwiches. They also give you chupa chup lollipops which are my all time favorite lollipops so bonus points for them for doing that!

A cool, rustic neighborhood vibe in a small strip-mall storefront. Buzzing with several customers at 2:00 in the afternoon. Must be a good sign. Nice variety of unusual menu options- sandwiches with roasted lamb, roasted veg, various cheeses, chicken, roast beef, shrimp - all on good, chewy, crusty ciabatta rolls. Counter service is quick and friendly. Nothing fancy here but the sandwiches and salads, and for less than $10. Can't go wrong.

Ordered takeout here and they had really good, quick service which was great. Called ahead and got there about ten minutes later and everything was ready right as I paid. You can't go in right now so order and pick up at the door, they have a table set up with the register in the door way. I got the Clooney's choice and a Christmas in July sandwiches and was in the mood for a good satisfying sandwich. I thought the ciabatta was good on both, and the size of each sandwich was pretty big. Both sandwiches were good, I'm not sure I would order them again or go out of my way to go back to milk bar though. The flavors weren't anything special, like the sauces didn't really do much to really go above and beyond for taste. They give you a lollipop with each sandwich which is nice.

Wow! I've found a new spot to hit at the riverbend on Carrollton Ave. Milk Bar is a sandwich shop in a strip mall with several restaurants nearby. They specialize in great sandwiches and milk shakes. Didn't get to try the milk shakes this time. My group tried several sandwiches. I had one of the best sellers, the "Clooney's choice." It's got marinated chicken, avocado, tomato, and a mouthful of flavor! Wifey had "shrimply the best," which was also a very good sandwich. Our friend tried the thai chili lamb which was obviously very good! We all had Zapps potato chips on the side. I don't think that they have beer or alcohol available at the spot, but we walked in with daiquiris that we bought 2 blocks away. Parking was not an issue. Service was very friendly, and the servers were helpful. Will definitely be back.

This sweet little place just made my heart so happy. Tucktaway and University Row, is milk bar. It's a perfect a little nook for sandwiches but more importantly, the milkshakes! These milkshakes bring the boys and girls to town. They use a real ice cream and are made fresh and so smooth. The staff is incredibly nice and friendly and the place is super fun and definitely a place I would recommend to anybody in the area. I had the strawberry milkshake and it was so great. I was instantly transported back to my childhood. Strawberry milkshakes were my grans favorite. My daughter had an awesome chocolate, chocolate chip muffin and my son had a chocolate chip cookie that was as big as his fave. We all loved this sweet spot and will definitely be back.

Quick & easy sandwich shop! My only complaint is that they aren't open on Sundays... Usually when I'm craving a warm, soft yet crunchy, ciabata sandwich! Our favorite is Clooney's Choice, which is is marinated chicken, avocado, tomato, roasted red pepper, red onion, gooey mozzarella, cilantro and lemon aioli that is absolutely to die for and makes the best cheese pull that's totally Instagram boomerang worthy! You just go up to th counter and order and they call your name when it's ready! Don't forget to grab a milkshake or smoothie to go with your toasted sandwich!

I love the milk bar, it's probably one of my favorite places to eat uptown in new orleans. The service is really good, and the sandwiches are amazing. I definitely recommend.

This place is pretty awesome. My first visit I got the shrimply the best and it was SO DELICIOUS and FILLING. I could only eat half in one sitting. But I PROMISE I thought about the other half for the rest of the day lol. Their sammys are made in a circular/disc shape that I've honestly never experienced before. I thinks it's cool because it gives the bread this crisp out shell that's simply divine. And the ooey gooey-ness of the cheese, YUM is an understatement. The location is very unassuming in a strip mall. I think this spot is perfect for take out but if you eat in, read over their political interpretations on the wall, pretty entertaining. Also, they have options other than sandwiches, they have salads and even soups ( I tried the tomato bisque mmmmmmmm). Oh and ppl seem to dig their shakes! Definitely check this spot out. K?!

One of tastiest, best convenient lunch spots in Uptown New Orleans. The first thing that Milk Bar gets right is the service. Staff are so friendly and I always enjoy our conversations as I wait for my food. Sandwiches are served on freshly toasted bread, but they also have a wide arrange of selections for vegetarians and vegans, including salads. Local favorite! Highly recommend the Clooney's Choice (that's my go to) and Christmas in July. Every meal also comes with a Chupa Lollipop to top it off.

It's doesn't come across as clean because it's a hole in the wall but my favorite sandwich is found here: the Christmas in July (without spinach and tomato. The bread is the best! Some friends love the psycho chicken but I'm sticking with turkey.

Great college row sandwich place. A bright, friendly, turquoise painted hole-in-the-mall decorated with all themed things cow (milk bar ; ) Sandwiches are deceiving... ate the whole thing and was full the entire day... so sharing could be a good thing depending on your capacity for rich food. Had the lemon marinated chicken sandwich (flavor bomb! Had ours without cheese) and the lamb and hummus, all terrific. The menu said ciabatta roll, what came out looked more like the love child of baguette and brioche, which I chalked up to a difference in interpretation of the word ciabatta between the northeast and southwest. Whatever the name, again, delish. Potato chips were overkill, even though I love the New Orleans brand. They also do a wide array of interesting milkshakes. If I lived there, I'd prob go moo times. Sorry. Couldn't resist.
