"If you take just a ten minute drive from downtown, you’ll be rewarded with a pleasing change of scenery well worth the minimal effort. This tavern trades urban rooftops for pastoral river views from its roof deck, with the panoramic greenery of Shem Creek laid out before guests. The cocktail menu is solid, varied, and doesn't stray into any arcane territory. There are good iterations of the classics—margaritas, palomas, mojitos—bolstered by a few house creations. A cucumber mint cooler seems like a perfect start to a warm Charleston evening, while the Mocha Peppucino will appeal to sweet-toothed drinkers." - Paul Oswell

"The team behind Mount Pleasant staple Crave Kitchen & Cocktails and cheesy food truck Mac Daddy recently opened their newest restaurant The Mill Street Tavern. Located at 508-B Mill St., next to Shem Creek Bar & Grill, the eatery is now open daily for brunch, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are plans to eventually add happy hour and dinner. The Mill Street Tavern boasts a rooftop deck that overlooks Shem Creek. The restaurant claims to be located next to the first tidal mill created, which dictated the interior design. On the brunch menu, patrons will find biscuits and gravy, a fried mortadella sandwich, a chicken philly, omelets, eggs benedict, and more. Back in 2017, Crave’s executive chef Landen Ganstrom said he created the menu for the Mill Street Tavern with his family in mind. 'Coming up with the new food was simple,' he said, 'I just came up with things that I’d want to feed my family, because, in many ways, this community is our family.'" - Erin Perkins

We had a great 1st visit. Phenomenal service and excellent food. Fried green tomatoes were fresh, and you could tell the oil was new (some of the best we've had) and the bacon jam 🤤 just enough spice. We ordered fish tacos and the yardbird, and both were excellent. We can't wait to come back again.

Fascinating Indian/asian/southern fusion restaurant! We made a reservation and when we arrived, the manager explained that they had accidentally just seated a group at our table. But, the manager then went above and beyond to make it right with free drinks and appetizers. This was our friends birthday dinner on her birthday trip, and it meant a lot to us that the team here made it right. The food was fun, filling, and delicious. It’s definitely fusion food, so it’s outside the box- but we loved it. My wife said the lobster roll was the best she’s had!

Excellent, Mt. Pleasant waterfront rooftop spot to enjoy the sunset. Craft cocktails and better than expected seafood. Loved the Bang Bang shrimp and fish tacos.

We had company in town and wanted to try something new, so we made reservations. They were definitely not needed but we did eat around 5:45 pm on a Thursday night. The sidewinder nachos appetizer was delicious! Sorry I did not get a picture. The shrimp and grits were amazing. They use my favorite grits from Marsh Hen Mill. I almost forgot to take a picture. Overall, I give them a 4 out of 5! Definitely worth trying them out.

One of those rare dining moments where conversation is replaced with euphoria. We all thought the food was fantastic and the setting out front was replaced with a surprisingly great view of grassy creek out back. Celiac - Gluten Free options available as well as good all around southern options. I had the bang bang shrimp, fried green tomatoes, and shrimp and grits (all made gf on request.) Pictured.

We found this place on Resy and it is really a hidden gem. Must try the honey hot brussle sprouts and the garlic soy wings, which is amazing! The grill oysters and Entrees are just "ok" level but they are really generous in portioning. We were not able to see the Shem creek since it's winter and sky get dark early, so make sure you go there early to get a good sunset view! But overall we have had a good experience!

We were here on a quiet Sunday night. We made reservations but none were really needed. The service was great and the atmosphere was comfortable. The brussels were good but the honey was a bit overpowering. Maybe less drizzle is better. The short ribs and the shrimp tacos were really good. My husband loved the sidewinder fries. Overall our experience was a four out of five. We will eat here again.

I eat strictly gluten free due to Celiac, and this place was fantastic. Everything tasted great- especially the bang bang shrimp. There's a dedicated fryer to keep it free from cross contact, and they have GF buns. Highly recommend!
