"The Misfit is another restaurant that often gets used as a bar, and even though it's located a little too close to the Third Street Promenade, we grin and bear it. The crowd is full of locals, the pitchers of white sangria come extra cold, and the food is solid, like the massive fried chicken sandwich with creamy fennel slaw and a quinoa-kale salad that’s great for sharing. "Turns out there is a limit to how many children on leashes you can handle in one day, and you hit it within five minutes of being at The Promenade. Time to go take the edge off at The Misfit. The American gastropub is a time-tested standby with good bar food, a low-key space mostly devoid of tourists, and one of the best Happy Hours in the area.
