Orlando’s 38 Best Restaurants | Eater Miami

"Of all the restaurants run by James Beard-nominated restaurateurs Jason and Sue Chin, The Monroe may very well be their most fetching. And the interior’s tropical mid-mod beauty is matched by a menu of modern comfort fare that’s equally eye-catching. Chef Nikk Burton’s dishes straddle the line between approachable (Buffalo chicken eggrolls) and sophisticated (coffee-crusted Cheshire pork chop), but the restaurant’s famous fried chicken — using the best from Bell & Evans — is arguably some of the best served in the city." - Faiyaz Kara

The 25 Best Restaurants In Orlando 2024

"The Monroe does excellent, upscale comfort food dishes that go heavy on nostalgia in a loungey space that’s like a more upscale version of the Brady Bunch’s living room. Go for the crispy cauliflower as an appetizer, then double down on the fried chicken with skin that’s just the right level of crunchy before desserts like an ice-cream-topped brownie. We stopped at The Monroe while traveling to Orlando to celebrate my birthday, and it was such a great find! Everything we tried was delicious, and the menu had some really creative options. The BBQ rainbow carrots with Cheerwine BBQ sauce were a standout—totally unique and packed with flavor. I also loved the Field Greens salad with arugula, goat cheese, blueberries, walnut granola, and roasted shallot vinaigrette. The granola added such a fun and tasty crunch! Our server highly recommended the burger, and he wasn’t wrong—it was fantastic. I'm so glad I went for it! We finished with the chocolate cake, which was rich, decadent, and absolutely memorable. I honestly wish I lived closer just so I could come back for another slice. I'd definitely return to The Monroe to try more of the menu, maybe even for brunch next time. Our server, Nick, was friendly and helpful, but overall the service felt a bit slow considering the restaurant wasn’t very busy. That said, the food more than made up for it. Looking forward to coming back!

Google
Cute little place. Prices are fair for what you get. The cinnamon roll was delicious, the biscuits and gravy were very good but I can always use a little gravy. My only issue with them was they were topped with sea salt and it overpowered the entire dish making it very salty. Flavor on point but hard to ignore the salt. I got the shrimp and grits. A dish I get many places, it wasn't bad by any means but nothing really stood out. The shrimp themselves have quite a kick and its served with some hot peppers, they say its a bit spicy but I think its a bit understated as I like spice and had to take the peppers off the plate. Grits cooked perfect the sauce was different but a very nice sweet take to compliment the heat so all in all not terrible but for over 20 bucks I would likely try a different dish

Google
The scenery, atmosphere, and service were all exceptional! We started with the biscuits and gravy and cinnamon rolls as appetizers—both were absolutely delicious. However, my main course was a letdown. I ordered the fish and chips, but unfortunately, it was more batter than fish, and the tartar sauce was bland and lacked flavor. I'd rate this dish a 1/10. That said, I’d love to come back and try other items on the menu since the overall experience was enjoyable. Update- 2nd visit and everything was bomb!!! You must try the hummus and the chicken and waffles. It won’t disappoint

Visited The Monroe for a friend’s birthday and it was very enjoyable! Let me start at the beginning. So my outfit was so cute. The entrance gave me like Las Vegas vibes and the inside a cozy corner of cozy corners. Haha. There were seating areas to wait with a shuffleboard and coffee bar. The dining area was framed in front and around the kitchen. The menu wasn’t extensive for brunch but everything looked good. Nothing tasted bad either but nothing was like super super different or unique about the food either. What I did enjoy was how it was presented. The plates were served with elegance. For two appetizers, a drink and 2 drink, my bill was $85 and that includes tio and tax which was excellent. Would ABSOLUTELY return. In nicer weather (wayyyyyyyy too hot right now Mother Nature!) is even consider the event spot for a gathering.

Visited for Sunday brunch. Aesthetics was very nice. Service was good, I can’t remember our servers name so sorry but sorry but she was great. We ordered the Chicken & Waffles, Shrimp & Grits, Smoked Salmon. I didn’t care for the waffle batter, my friend stated the shrimp were a little spicy, and my sister loved the Smoked Salmon dish.

Google
Saw that The Monroe was a James Beard finalist and I am SO glad that I checked it out! The atmosphere is so casual, but not trashy, think Jimmy Buffet Key West. The service was friendly, but the star is the farm to table food! OMG! Absolutely amazing! If you are near downtown, you must go!

Google
Had a reservation for 11am and was able to get a cinnamon roll which they only make a couple. Definitely worth the try! The chicken was perfect for chicken and waffle I recommend to get additional syrup on the side. The breakfast sandwich was great the pork belly was a touch salty and their garlic aioli looked more like a chimchurri. The salad was a bit wet I recommend asking for the dressing on the side. A great experience overall!

Yelp
The Monroe might have just taken my number one spot for brunch in Orlando! First of all, their fried chicken is absolutely amazing, perfectly crispy, and so well seasoned, and you must order it in one form or the other for brunch. I ended up getting the southwest style chicken salad, and it was incredible. Speaking of must order, the cinnamon roll quesito cannot be missed. It is served in a hot pan and smothered in cream cheese icing. They sell out of these pretty quickly during brunch, so keep that in mind! The Monroe is beautiful inside with tons of eclectic seating options, a coffee bar in the corner, and a large bar space with TVs. Definitely add it to your list of brunch spots in Orlando!

Yelp
The Monroe is a nice little spot for date nights with a great warm atmosphere. The food was decent enough (some things were hit or miss), but the ambiance was the real kicker here. I got the whipped ricotta to start and the dip itself was absolutely amazing. Creamy, smooth, and with the perfect jam to bring it all together. 11/10. However, the bread it came with was a little charred on the side. Not sure if that was intentional or not, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the slightly burnt smell and taste. It was hard to tell after it was dipped into the ricotta though. I had the crispy chicken sandwich for my main course, and although the chicken had great seasoning, the sandwich itself was pretty dry. I asked for some extra sauce to combat this, but it still didn't really do the trick (the spicy ranch was amazing though ngl). I should mention that the Monroe is probably better known for its cocktails because I saw the bartender really whip up some fancy drinks. However, I ordered one of their craft beers, the "Suits & Skulls" from Unknown Creatures, and it was a crisp Amber lager. Exactly what you would expect from a craft beer. The bartender also showed me a bit of the art that each of their craft beers companies have on their cans, and it was really a vibe. The service was also good. I sat at the bar, so I had the opportunity to talk to the bartender a bit. If I was a little more talkative this evening, I could tell she would be down to have a good conversation, but she still told me a lot about their craft beers. Overall, the atmosphere of this place is unmatched, but there are some discrepancies with the food. Each dish I ate had a great part and then a not-so-great part. The Monroe earns itself 15/20 Freys due to the inconsistency in the food. FREY OUT!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were staying nearby and wanted to grab some brunch before hitting the road. We stumbled upon this gem and had ZERO regrets! The ambiance and food was truly a 10/10. We LOVED IT!! We sat at the bar and had a great bar tender. I decided on ordering an espresso martini and my boyfriend got a mimosa. I then got the Monroe's famous fried chicken, and my boyfriend got the chicken & waffles and we loved every single bite. We highly recommend. We absolutely will be back! P.S. they have a great lounge area that would be perfect to work or study from!

Yelp
Soooo vibey and fun. Love the ambiance for a date night, brunch with friends, after dinner cocktails, and so much more! The Monroe specializes in what I call elevated Southern food. We've come here for both their dinner and brunch, and always find something to enjoy. My favorite thing to get is The Monroe's Famous Fried Chicken and I think it provides the most value in terms of price and flavor. But I've also tried the steak and crispy chicken sandwich. All the food is solid, but sometimes I think things lack some salt or seasoning. The thing about good Southern food is that it's a flavor bomb; there have been times where I've felt a little underwhelmed with the food. But the quality of the ingredients is really good and everything is cooked well. The cocktails here are also sooo good. Their bartenders are fantastic and I've never had a bad cocktail. They get their coffee from Foxtail and that's fine. I don't think it's super good, but the not the worst I've had from a brunch spot. My friend has hosted multiple birthday parties here and they're really great at accommodating large groups! You can even rent out their outdoor event space for private events.

Yelp
The Monroe has been our consistent date night spot. Their fried chicken is one of the best in the city and I love their well crafted seasonal drinks. The service is always exceptional too and of course the amazing decor and ambience really sets the mood.

Yelp
Stopped in to The Monroe on a random weekday after reading all the hype on Yelp and after dining in, I get it. The location is odd being tucked within what feels like a gentrified new housing area based on the bottom of an apartment building. I was lucky to snag street parking right in front of what felt like a slow lunch rush. Otherwise they offer additional parking at Union West garage. The space itself was captivating to say the least. Wide open with a beautifully centered bar, comfortable couches, and a coffee bar with floor to ceiling windows making the space bright, open and inviting. We came with no reservation but I could see how planning ahead on a busy weekend night is beneficial. The service was great and very attentive and most of the dishes we ordered were top notch. Such as the smash burger and fried chicken sandwich. The burger came with a burger sauce with melted cheese between two patties cooked at just the right temperature. While the fried chicken came with a massive sized crispy chicken topped with a saucy slaw. Both a table hit. While the hubby's steak was just okay. All three served with seasoned steak style fries. I'd come back to see what the rest of the menu has to offer given how much we enjoyed our first visit.

Yelp
Went to Orlando for a day trip, checked out one of the city's Yelp collections for recommendations and this place popped up. Reading all the reviews, my friend and I had to make sure to add this to our itinerary. The place was surprisingly spacious inside with a bar near the center, lounge area at the entrance, a shuffleboard in the back, and the seating area to the left when we entered. We were brought to our seats quickly despite it being busy. Loved the artwork and decorative accents around the place. We ordered the Pork Belly S'mores and the Fried Chicken. The appetizer and main dish could easily be split between two people. The pork belly was flavorful and I'm still thinking about that miso marshmallow concoction as I'm typing this. The fried chicken was good along with the sides--nothing remarkable. The highlight truly was those s'mores. Yum.

Yelp
We came with friends for the first time. We can't believe this new area of Orlando and how much it has changed. The Monroe feels like you are in a big city up north. We ordered the fried chicken dinner with mac and cheese and succotash. It was delicious. The chicken breast was a bit dry for my liking but the wing and thigh were tender, crispy and moist. The Mac and cheese is one of the best I've ever had. The ambiance and service is 5 star. We can't wait to come back for Happy Hour and brunch. Such a beautiful restaurant.

Yelp
UPDATE: Just visited The Monroe again for my birthday today and it's genuinely my new favorite restaurant. We came for brunch and the vibes are just so cutie. I love how it doesn't feel cramped even when it's busy and it's full of natural sunlight (but not in a way that's over heating). We set a reservation for 11:30 and we appreciated that they made sure to send us a text warning the AC was out but were working to get it back up and running. That wasn't going to stop us from coming of course but I appreciate letting us know so we could make that decision ourselves before heading to the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. I took my partner there for the first time and he was very impressed with everything to the ambiance, presentation, and taste. One day I'll come back for dinner. My only suggestions (more like selfish desires) is that I wish they offered more selection for drinks. They don't offer any type of cream liquor, so no baileys, RumChata, or a white chocolate liquor. As a girl who is not a lightweight at, I like an espresso martini with baileys since I don't prefer dark coffee drinks. The options feel limited unless you have regular half and half (which can taste kinda boring). Which of course, was my own decision to order a White Russian then to put half and half in the espresso martini. I could have swore I got baileys in it last time but maybe i remembered wrong. I also do think a matcha martini would go crazy on their menu. Not a lot of places offer that in Orlando and it feels so fitting for their vibe. Either way it's a good time and we throughly enjoyed everything.

Yelp
I have been wanting to visit The Monroe for a while, and I am so happy that I finally did. The interior design is expertly done, and the restaurant is decorated so beautifully. We came right when they opened, as were quickly sat. The service was great, and we never had to worry about our drinks being empty. I started the meal by ordering the Twisted Collins drink and the Crispy Cauliflower from the happy hour menu. The drink was light and very refreshing. The cauliflower was perfectly crispy and very delicious. For my main, I ordered the Spinach Lasagna. I thought it was pretty good, and considering I usually don't enjoy mushrooms, I thought these mushrooms were pretty tasty. My husband got the Fried Chicken, which he raved about long after dinner was over. I stole a couple of fries off his plate and I thought they were spectacular. The Chocolate Cake was very yummy, and not too sweet, which I love. The flaky salt on top paired so well with the rich chocolate flavor. We were too full to finish it so we took the rest home for a late-night snack. My husband and I have already talked about coming back here in the future, and I can't wait to explore the menu more.
google avatar

Suchita S.

Yelp
The staff is very lovely and accommodating. They were able to split a large table of appetizers amongst many members of our party. I would definitely get the cauliflower appetizer. That is easily the best thing on the menu. The hummus and the pimento cheese are ok. For the pimento it is served with pork rinds but if you're vegetarian they just give you ritz crackers which is kinda a throwaway. Their drinks are pretty good but very strong. I got the Monroe punch. The spinach lasagna was delicious. But unfortunately there aren't a ton of vegetarian main options.

Yelp
My best friend and I finally got a chance to check out this spot for happy hour, and it did not disappoint! We've been to other restaurants by the same company, but this was our first time trying this one and now we're wondering why we waited so long. We started with coffee (because, priorities). I ordered the Elvis latte and loved it. The balance of coffee, banana, and bacon cream was spot on--rich, unique, and so satisfying. My friend went with a chai tea, and they were able to customize it to be a bit sweeter with brown sugar. It was delicious and comforting. From the happy hour menu, we decided to share a couple of items. We went with the deviled eggs which were creamy with just the right kick from the jalapeños. The French onion dip that was paired with the crispiest fries ever. So addictive. Lastly the Pimento cheese dip which was usually served with pork rinds, but they were out and gave us crackers instead, but still amazing. The vibe was super cute, and our waitress was attentive, friendly, and helped guide our food choices perfectly. We're already planning our return next time for dinner!

Yelp
Finally had the chance to try The Monroe and I am a bit disappointed. The service was great and the ambiance of the place was amazing. The food on the other hand... not so much. I ordered the Flat Iron Steak. It comes with truffle fries and chimichurri. The truffle fries and steak weren't bad but super salty. You could definitely make or buy a better chimichurri. I also tried the Monroe's Chicken, it was good but a little bit dry. The seasonings were great though. Overall, the salt was overbearing and all you could taste.
google avatar

Denise C.

Yelp
Came here with a girlfriend for a quick coffee. I had the banana latte and I am still thinking about it. I can't wait to go back to this place for the latte and to try their food. The place is decorated elegantly. They have a small are to wait for your table and it also serves as the small coffee shop area. I would grab my best girlfriends and come here for brunch! It's elegant and and the customer service is top notch. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Five stars and more. Excellent food excellent service and cool looking restaurant next James Beard worthy. Try the fried chicken and the bread pudding. You won't be disappointed. Love love the food.

Yelp
I visited The Monroe today.... While other visits have been great, today, not so much. To start, the air was broken, and I understand things happen, but no one told us so we could have the option to go somewhere else. The wine was great, but I wasn't a fan of the deviled eggs or the wings.
google avatar

Raul J.

Yelp
I ordered a My Dear Watson and my partner ordered a Seasonal Vanilla Latte. My drink was okay, mostly just tasted like orange juice. My partner enjoyed hers. Staff are kind and it's quite nice and cozy inside.
google avatar

Julia S.

Yelp
So, the plate looks good... but looks can be deceiving.. The chicken and waffles were disgusting. The waffle tasted like it had been soaked in oil after being cooked and the chicken had a thick layer of fat, visibly yellow adipose tissue, under the skin. It left a thick layer of oil coating my mouth; I can't imagine eating it and enjoying it. Mimosas were fine, not enough juice. The cinnamon roll was tasty, but it wasn't a cinnamon roll at all. Dry and the only flavor was the orange. Service was also slow, although it seems they were short staffed.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant has a lot of potential! We came here with high hopes and the food overall was pretty good. Our let downs were the limited menu, the spotty speed of the service midway through the dining experience, and the overall value. The Wagyu Burger was $29 and with all the sauce, I couldn't even taste the Wagyu or anything special about the patty. We were going to order wine and let the waitress know before our food arrived, but by the time she returned to us to take our wine order, Our food had arrived and was halfway eaten. Overall our food wasn't bad and we loved the vibe and location, but likely wouldn't be back if we were locals except for the Mac and Cheese. That was a winner worth repeating!
google avatar

Colette L.

Yelp
The Monroe has such a cozy and eclectic vibe! All of the employees were super friendly and welcoming. The menu has lots of great and fresh options and we really had such a great experience. I got the Chai Latte to drink. It was your average Chai Latte, I would get it again but it also isn't one I would go out of my way to get. But definitely a good choice if you are coming to The Monroe already. To eat, I get the Florida Cobb which I really enjoyed. It tasted super fresh and all of the ingredients works really well together. It was filling, although I definitely wanted more because it tasted so good. Such a fun environment and I love the unique decor inside. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
We visited The Monroe yesterday, and while the space is absolutely beautiful, gorgeous decor and a great overall vibe, the food unfortunately didn't meet my expectations. Service was great. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and professional, which we really appreciated. That said, the food and drink left much to be desired. For a place with such a stunning bar, the cocktail menu felt surprisingly limited. I was hoping for a more creative or diverse selection. We started with the Yellowfin Tuna appetizer, which tasted very bland. It lacked seasoning and depth, just felt flat and insipid. For my main, I ordered the flat iron steak, there was a bit of a mix-up where fries were substituted for the mac and cheese and not as an add on. No big deal, though. The steak, however, was a letdown it came out completely burnt on the outside, very dry and acidic from the char. The flavor was just not enjoyable and they charge $33 for that steak and was a very small too, honestly not worth the price at all. I wouldn't order it again. Overall, while the atmosphere and service are lovely, the food didn't impress me enough to return for dinner. I might come back to enjoy a glass of wine and the ambiance, or maybe give their brunch or lunch a shot, but I wouldn't recommend it as a dinner spot based on this experience.

Yelp
Pros: I love local restaurants that participate in Magical Dining Month. It's really good for the public and the city as a whole. Ambiance is so sleek. It's in a great part of downtown and the aesthetic when you enter is chic coffee shop library/old school diner. I love it. Service is top notch. We are always very well taken care of when we come here. Food is out of this world. Refreshingly different from other, boring MDM menus around town. Cons: They were out of a certain dessert on the MDM menu, one-third of the reason we even came here, and they wouldn't hear of doing substitutions from their main menu. They want you to feel high class, but then pull stuff like this. Tips: Call ahead and make sure their online menus are accurate. Eat their fried chicken. They do that very very well.

Yelp
If you're an Orlando local or visiting, make sure to add The Monroe to your bucket list. As locals, we're always looking for the next best restaurant and I think we may have found it. For starters, the interior of this restaurant is precious. It's a coffee shop by day and a restaurant by night. We loved the colorful decorations. As an appetizer, we opted to try the pork belly s'mores and the buffalo chicken egg rolls. If you like sweet, make sure to try the pork belly. It was a tad bit sweet for us, but others may enjoy. The egg rolls were to die for. We both chose the fried chicken sandwich for our meal. I subbed for brussel sprouts and he subbed for cucumber slaw. How delicious! Our service was excellent and our waiter was lovely. Wish we remembered his name. We can't wait to try again!

Yelp
Stopped in here for a quick bite and a few drinks. We were sat before our reservation time and the service was quick. My man and I each had a mimosa and we shared a burger. This place has one of the best burgers I've had in a long time! It was so good and juicy. The atmosphere is so cute and I would come here just to hang out if I lived in the area. I sadly didnt take a picture of my food because it was so good I devoured it.

Yelp
5 Stars for an incredible ambiance, fun cocktails, and delicious food! Ok, so to be clear, this isn't necessarily my normal preference in cuisine (southern/new American fusion, fried chicken, etc), but my friend needed a rec for somewhere to host her birthday dinner downtown and I knew it would be The Monroe. I hadn't been in ages, but was again blown away by the thoughtfully decorated and curated interior. They also have an exterior "porch" that I imagine is divine when the weather permits. Our server, Fred, was incredibly kind and gave us great recommendations (and took some GREAT photos of the group outside afterwards). I ordered the seasonal kale salad with seared salmon added and a side of fries. The kale salad was good, but a bit heavy handed on the dressing. It was one of the lighter options on the menu and the salmon was incredible, so I didn't mind! The fries are SO GOOD. Fred recommended the sauce they use on their burger for the fries and it was a fantastic recommendation. I appreciated that they had mocktails as well as beer, wine, and cocktails, as a few people in our part weren't drinking alcohol. The rest of us enjoyed some espresso martinis and the fried bread pudding dessert (big enough to share among the table!) and were more than satisfied. One note is that they use a cold brew for their espresso martinis, which was a bit of a bummer since I see they have a full espresso bar at the front and I would've hoped they could offer that option. But that's just a preference thing on my part. Overall a perfect spot for a group dinner with alllll the vibes.

Yelp
The Monroe is a new addition to downtown Orlando. That whole new area is really nice and modern. Our waitress was great and the food was good. I enjoyed my steak frites and drinks.

Yelp
Unfortunately I don't have any pictures to share bc my husband and I were too busy downing the food. This place is insanely underrated. I was not expecting to walk into a local gem. We came in from miami for a quick bite before a concert and everything was ridiculously delicious and well thought out. Amanda and Zelly were super charming, personable and welcoming. We ordered the whipped ricotta with focaccia (woah.) As an italian I was soooo impressed by their focaccia, and the whipped ricotta was kind of genius. Topped with a sweet and savory vegetal/ jam situation. I couldn't stop eating it. Then their signature fried chicken and smash burger were some of the best I've had to date. Every dish hit all the flavor profiles-- sweet, sour, salty, acidic. What a lovely spacious location with food to match. Thanks so much for a hyper enjoyable meal/ pregame. You guys are awesome *edit* I do have a picture

Yelp
I will start with good and then tell you the bad. The restaurant has an eclectic / industrial vibe. The waiting area is cozy and you can order coffee while you wait to be seated. If you go, get the chicken. The fried chicken that my husband ordered is why this place got 3 instead of 2 stars. Now the bad. The staff is friendly but not attentive at all. I got the green eggs and ham. The eggs were supposed to be runny. They were anything but. They were so over cooked that the whites were hard to cut with my knife. The toast that came with it was burnt. If you want a drink that is on their dinner menu, you cannot get it. Our server told us we could only order the cocktails that are on the brunch menu. The service is very slow. It took over an hour to get our food after we sat down. I will not be going back.

Yelp
Looks like I'll have to be odd and go against the grain on this one. I'm sorry. The Monroe had been on my list to visit for a long time! The first time I tried to go, the restaurant was unexpectedly closed due to an A/C that needed repair. That is understandable and respectable. The Monroe cares about its employees and its customers and did not want anyone to be uncomfortable. So, this was my second time trying to go to the restaurant. I was having a little aunt & niece time and she picked this spot. I was so excited! Immediately upon entering, I was impressed with the beautiful space! I could imagine myself sitting with my laptop, enjoying the environment and being productive. The space was cozy, like a living room, with its eclectic style and greenery (plants). I loved it. However, I was quite underwhelmed with the food. There wasn't anything special, memorable or stand-out about our meals. After reading all the reviews, I was just expecting more. We ordered the fish and chips and the classic Burger from the lunch menu. Both seemed lackluster. Perhaps, I'll need to return to try the dinner menu. We also ordered some beautiful mocktails. In my opinion, they looked gorgeous, but the taste wasn't great. Rather surprisingly, it seemed very watery. On the other hand, the space, ambiance, decor, etc. knocked my socks off!

Yelp
If Orlando is the land of the image, a blank canvas where you're asked to imagine that you're in Thailand or at Hogwarts or the moon, then The Monroe is playing along. The owners of Creative Village, an anodyne condo complex meant to approximate a walkable city, took careful notes on urban hipster cuisine circa 2013 and came up with The Monroe. From Edison bulb lighting to a title dressed up with a classy definite article to shareable small plates, the hipster mimicry was at least better than my resort's approximation of an Italian villa. But like at the resort, hints of Orlando peek through: giant portions, few vegetarian options. The food isn't bad, but not that memorable, either. The hummus appetizer was pretty good; the smoked tomato salad, on the other hand, was enormous and mostly tasted like lettuce. The patatas bravas came with a nice romesco, but the colorful presentation outweighed the bland flavor. My husband was taken aback by the giant glop of blue cheese on his enormous steak. Steal My Sunshine is a cool name for a tequila cocktail, but cinnamon and passion fruit are a discordant, uncomfortable flavor pairing. This place looks picturesque in its photos, but like much of Orlando, I am not sure it has an identity of its own. Ultimately, The Monroe is fine but ... just be yourself bro.

Yelp
Another great lunch experience with my Coworkers. Appetizers: Cauliflower - Everyone loved these, for me it was good but I didn't feel the same as they did. Pimento cheese dip - Now this is order over and over again, the pickled onion in there sent it over the top. Served with crackers, we ordered extra crackers. I ordered the 2 piece Fried Chicken meal, with Macaroni Salad, Cucumber Salad and roll. The reviews about the Fried chicken are so on point, so juicy and crispy at the same time. The sweet and Savory on the Chicken is a perfect blend. One of my Coworkers ordered the Cobb salad and it was huge, she said it was really good but she couldn't finish it. It was with the hype...our Server was really good, we had a large group and he didn't miss a beat!

Yelp
Went there for an event. The event was set aside from the restaurant. If i lived in the neighborhood, id be going there alot. It is so convenient with friendly staff. The food...hard to judge. We had appetizer bites which were really good. Just not menu fare. So we will go back to try the Brussels Sprouts. Good luck! Great place.

Yelp
This place definitely has a hip atmosphere. It looks like it could get boisterous, but we were there for a late lunch and it was great. The concise menu has lots of interesting selections, and we enjoyed everything we tried. We started with the hummus, which was served with fresh-baked pitas. The hummus was topped with an assortment of herbs and seasonings, which made it fun to experiment with different combinations. I had the three-piece fried chicken, and it was terrific. The crunchy, complex batter kept the tender, moist chicken steaming hot throughout our meal. The accompanying macaroni salad and cucumber chunk salad were both excellent. My companion had the steak frites, a classic preparation with perfectly seared steak and a huge pile of nicely crisped truffle fries. There are some interesting wines by the glass. I finished with the very intriguing root beer latte. Service was cheerful and attentive.

Yelp
One of the beach chicken Caesar wraps I've had in Orlando! You can tell they make their dressing and overall it was amazing. My mom's power bowl was also SO good. It's so pretty inside, a great spot for date night or girls night. I'll be ack for sure!

Yelp
The greeter is perfect. She definitely creates an inviting atmosphere. The Monroe's atmosphere is really pleasing. We visited for Mother's Day and my family was so impressed. We started with the deviled eggs which two orders of were not enough. We could've eaten a dozen more. The biscuits and gravy were like none I have ever had before. Simply delicious and filling. As for our entrees, my parents enjoyed theirs (the chorizo hash) most. They loved the flavor. We are a saucy family though, and they would have liked some type of salsa or crema to enhance the dish but none is available. My sister described the very small yet pricey bowl of shrimp and grits as "interesting" because the grits were a very odd almost paste like consistency. Definitely not the southern, hearty grits we are used to and prefer. My brother and I both ordered the chicken and waffles. He enjoyed and ate all of it. I am a lover of all things food and a to go box hates to see me coming. But I did not enjoy the Korean style fried chicken as it was very fatty under the skin. Though I typically choose thighs, the fat was overwhelming and surprising since the texture on the outside was perfectly crisp. Then there was the waffle, which was very cornmeal-ish. I did not enjoy it at all. I ate only a few bites and was thankful for the starters. Hopefully my dad will enjoy them as leftovers since he cleaned his chorizo bowl. Mom looooved the croissant dessert. That was a perfect ending to the meal. Richard was very attentive, quick, and focused. I love a server who anticipates our needs. I bragged about the dinner menu's lasagna, cauliflower, and chicken meal with macaroni and cheese so I know my family will be back. Overall it was an awesome experience.

Yelp
I want to start off by sharing this location was very beautiful and I loved the energy/atmosphere. Service was great! We were greeted as soon as we walked it and the location was super busy. I was thankful we had reservations and there was no wait. The Monroe is known for comfort food and I will say the buffalo egg rolls were delicious and provided comfort. However when it came to my main dish, I feel like the fried chicken was over hype and had a sweet taste. I'm a fries lover and the fries were super crunchy and I don't feel like I could really taste potato and had a fry full of grease instead. The dinner roll was kind of hard. However, the mac & cheese was decent. I barely touched my food which was a little sad since the restaurant wasn't very inexpensive. The dinner overall was fair, the menu options are also limited.

Yelp
We walked in and the hostess looked us up and down and said "We aren't open yet". This was not a good impression. And it was 2 minutes before opening. Meanwhile the hostess then walked over to another couple who was sitting in the waiting area and ever so nicely said "It's going to be just a couple more minutes". I will say after we got away from the hostess the service we received was amazing. I wish the food was the same. For appetizers we ordered the cauliflower, jalapeño deviled eggs and the buffalo chicken egg rolls. The cauliflower was delicious! The eggs were interesting but the yolks were so over whipped they had no texture left. None of us liked the egg rolls. These did not come together well. We all ordered the fried chicken dinner since it's their signature dish. It came with macaroni and cheese. The chicken was crispy and slightly salty in a good way but that was it. The macaroni and cheese was another story. It was hot cooked pasta with a couple shreds of cheese on top. All of us ate one bite and then left it alone When the server cleared our tables she knew immediately something wasn't right. She sent the manager to our table. We informed her of the problem and she even told us she had noticed it was wrong t, there was a new guy making it and they already were making a new batch. She did take a few dollars off our bill. I won't go back, but I did appreciate the nice service, minus the hostess

Yelp
I think we had hit this spot on an off night. So, I will try it again. On our visit we loved the atmosphere. I'd love to come back when they have live music. Drinks were good. We had a couple of servers. Unfortunately our food came spread apart timing wise and one meal was not cooked. Like I said, it felt like it was maybe just an off night for them. So I will return, but it will be to the bar and not include any food order.

Yelp
The Monroe is a restaurant/bar located in the Creative Village near Downtown Orlando. Right off the bat I'll say this is a beautiful setting. They've knocked the aesthetic out of the park. They are part of the Good Salt restaurants, so if you've been to Seito, The Osprey, or Reyes you'll notice a similar aesthetic. It's modern yet fun and upbeat. Lots of colors and funky artwork. The service was okay, upon walking in the hostess was on the phone for about 4 minutes and didn't really acknowledge us. Finally another hostess came over to seat us and he was pretty nice. Our actual waiter was fine and helpful as well. We went during happy hour so we got some drinks, we got the twisted collins which is basically their house tea with vodka and lemon soda. I wasn't a fan of this, it felt lazy to me and you can tell they just dumped some vodka into a sweet tea. For food we got the buffalo chicken dip appetizer and entrees of the coffee crusted pork chop with creamed corn and the Monroe's famous fried chicken with mac and cheese and broccoli. The buffalo dip was decent, nothing too special but it was chicken and buffalo sauce with cheese, the cracker it came with paired well. The pork chop, this was easily our favorite thing we ordered. The pork chop has a great char and the coffee crust gives it a bit of a sweetness but not over powering. The creamed corn paired with it really well. The fried chicken...this was very disappointing. I was looking forward to this but it lacked taste. The chicken is very crispy I'll give them that but I think it was severely lacking in seasoning. I did get some hot sauce to dip it in and that helped a bit but the chicken should be able to stand on it's own. There were also pieces that were very dry. The mac and cheese was pretty good though. The bottom line, I really love this space it's a great atmosphere with a real cool vibe that I think is unique especially to the Orlando area. As for their food I'd say it's mediocre based on the items I've had. I've had other cocktails from them that aren't on their happy hour that are quite good but the happy hour items aren't the best. I personally would come back for strictly drinks.

Yelp
My wife and I enjoyed a late anniversary dinner here yesterday. We started at the bar to enjoy the Happy Hour menu and shared a chorizo Scotch egg, an old fashioned, and the Lolita red wine. We were promptly seated for our reservation time after happy hour and decided on several small plates to share for our main. Our server Joey was incredibly attentive and made sure our food was to our liking. The head chef came by out table to assure our experience was impeccable. The food so came in a very timely manner, so our table wasn't crowded out with an overwhelming number of dishes. We sampled the s'mores and Cesar salad first, then came the ribs and pimento rolls, then came the pimento rolls, ribs, cauliflower, and carrots. We were expecting small plates, but just about everything was almost entree sized, so we were left with so many leftovers. The ribs had an amazing bark and sweet mustard glaze,n the cauliflower was so savory, crispy, and almost meaty, it could have easily been an entree. The ambiance is so relaxed, it makes for a great date night, in an elevated casual atmosphere; the music isn't to loud, the other guests aren't too loud, and the staff is attentive without being overbearing.

Yelp
We came here for our annual Christmas luncheon this past month. What a beautiful restaurant, since we were a group of over 40 people, we were seated on the outside patio, which was set up beautifully. Upon arrival, there was an appetizer station, the servers came to each table to take drink orders. The appetizers were a cheese board, salad and a veggie flatbread, all very good. Now on to the entrees, we had a choice of fried chicken, salmon and steak. I had the salmon, which I can't say enough about how delicious it was. My co-workers had the chicken and steak and everyone loved their main courses. We also had a choice of brownie and pumpkin cheesecake for dessert, the cheesecake was incredible. I have every intention of returning for brunch.

Yelp
I'm very happy that I tried out the Monroe! It's absolutely beautiful restaurant on the outside as well as the inside! Once we got inside we were seated immediately and our server went over the menu items with us! After hearing some recommendations I decided to go with the French Onion Dip to share and the Fish & Chips this time. This had to be some of the best cooked fish & chips that I've had stateside! Nice and crispy batter, fish cooked, and most importantly it wasn't greasy. I've heard that the fried chicken here is amazing as well so I am fully prepared to run back here and try that out! It's so nice when you try out a restaurant that you have decent expectations about and they completely knock it out of the park!

Yelp
Finally, I made it to The Monroe. This restaurant/coffee shop is super Instagrammable and is beautifully decorated and spacious. There is both indoor and outdoor seating with a courtyard. Dog and kid friendly for sure. We had the cappuccino and seasonal vanilla latte and then stayed for lunch as well. The dip and chips were the perfect sharable appetizer, and we had to try their famous fried chicken; it hit the spot. I can see why it's their #1 selling menu item; crunchy, sweet, and salty. The batter and chicken were perfection. For being a southern style restaurant, the prices were on the higher side for food that is more homey than fancy. You definitely just pay for the atmosphere. Our waiter was really knowledgeable and friendly. He walked us through the menu, and the food came out with no issue. Luckily, we sat down before the big lunch crowd came through. Parking is the biggest issue we had! Everywhere now you have to pay for parking, it is ridiculous. I'm not sure if they validate parking in the parking structure, but by the time you make it into the restaurant it's pointless to move your car. Moreover there is a 2 hour time limit and it's parking via an app.

Yelp
Had an open Friday afternoon and my wife and I wanted to check out a new happy hour spot and decided on The Monroe. It was beyond our expectations! The Monroe turned out to be one of the best happy hours we've been to Orlando! The food was excellent! We had the deviled eggs and the chicken egg rolls. Highly recommend both they were scrumptious. The drinks were on point. Definitely try the Monroe punch. Big shout out to our bartender Gabe for her great service!

Yelp
I wanted to try somewhere new so after the Magic game came here for dinner and I like how they close late at 11pm so was able to get some food after the game. My server Stephanie was awesome she recommended her favorite dish wish was the kale salad with chicken and it so good. My friend got the fried chicken and he enjoyed that as well! The bread pudding we sheared was so delicious! Even my mocktail called pear a normal activity was tasty too! I also like how the portion size of all the plates was huge so it's enough to share between two people but also to take home for leftovers. This place also is very clean and it's cozy inside.

Yelp
We went to The Monroe for an early lunch and we had a great experience. Our waitress Elease was awesome. She was attentive and ensured we had everything we needed during our visit. I had a latte along with mushroom hash and really enjoyed my meal. I had a great experience from beginning to end.

Yelp
I enjoyed the food/drinks/service here. Good for date night or solo dining or group events. There's also an outside area where you can make bring your doggo? I don't really know the name of this area, it's close to downtown but it still seems more up and coming. I plan to return and I believe they have happy hour too

Yelp
Visited the Monroe for brunch recently. First, I was amazed by how big the places. Plenty of seating for sure. We made reservations and were one of the first ones to arrive, with it quickly filling up. The drinks were pretty good, the food was excellent, staff was very friendly. It was a little slow, that would be my only pushback. Ambience is casual, perfect for brunch and I'm sure it's a pretty cool place for weekend dinner option. I'll certainly try it out again.
