All the Dallas Restaurant Openings, July 2025 | Eater Dallas

"Jeff Payne of Cousin’s BBQ and his partner Jason Cross have opened their first fine dining restaurant in Fort Worth, the Mont. The menu has a selection of butcher’s cuts, including Irodori wagyu selections, a double long bone pork chop, a 40-ounce Irodori wagyu tomahawk steak with potato purée and a dish called the Duck that is served with black garlic glaze, slow roasted duck leg, foie fried rice, scallion crêpe, and maple nuoc cham. The interiors give heavy Art Deco vibes with rust colored velvet seats, gold chain mail hanging from the ceiling, and wavy tiles on the floor." - Courtney E. Smith

I gave a lower star to food because we really did not order food except for the brussels sprouts. We were told, when we ordered them, that they were cooked and beef. I am a vegetarian and don’t mind eating things that are not cooked in vegetable oil, but I really don’t wanna know about it. The GM came over and visited with us and we knew him from before and he was a lovely wonderful person and we had a lovely visit with him. The bartender was very nice as well. The ambient is amazing. We also ordered some candied pecans as well as some olives that were brought to us and a couple of drinks and it was all very, very nice. I’m giving more of this review due to the ambient which was very very high-end quiet, low lighting and it just led to a lovely romantic, subdued atmosphere. Quiet interaction with a loved one, friend, significant other, spouse whatever.

A great place for date night or more elevated night out with friends in Fort Worth. Service was attentive, the wine list and sommelier were fantastic, and the food was exciting. Great selection of oysters, small plates (my favorite is the wedge salad), and the duck was incredible. I also love the handmade pastas. Creative flavors and solid portion sizes. Little touches like takeaways, and pre-dessert made the meal exciting. Will definitely be back.

What a wonderful evening we had dining at The Mont! The service was fantastic! From the moment we walked in we were welcomed and taken care of!! We originally had a table outside but the road noise was a bit much so they moved us inside! Our waiter was wonderful and his suggestions were tremendous!! The wine selection was great and we ended the night with a delicious ice cream sandwich! Can’t wait to return!

I rarely leave reviews, but this new restaurant absolutely deserves the praise. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, modern, and inviting. The interior design is elegant without being over-the-top, and the music was just the right volume for conversation. Now, let's talk food: every dish we tried was a flavor masterpiece. The menu is thoughtfully curated with creative takes on classic dishes, and the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh. What truly elevated our night, though, was our server, Charlemagne. Professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable, Charlemagne struck the perfect balance between attentive and unobtrusive. He gave excellent recommendations and made us feel genuinely welcome. If you're planning to visit—and you should—definitely ask for Charlemagne. Their service took our dining experience from great to unforgettable. Can't wait to return!

When you take bites of food and it make you want dance, that equates to happiness, and that is what The Mount delivered. Tip # 1 You must order the hush puppies. I don't even like hush puppies, but these are a must. The scallops are amazing. I don't think you will go wrong with anything you order. The environment is amazing. If you can't get a reservation, the bar is a great option to grab dinner. Great staff, and hats off the chef. The small stuff is what matters, like when you order a salad and you can't stop thinking about the graded goat cheese on it. Ps amazing cocktails

I had an incredible dining experience at The Mont! The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The restaurant’s decor was stunning, creating an inviting and upscale atmosphere that made the meal feel even more special. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the service was top-notch from start to finish. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable meal in a beautiful setting!

I couldn’t wait for this place to open! We went on a Saturday night and for a new restaurant, they really had it together! The location and parking were great and they even offered valet. My cocktail was excellent and wine selection is good. The atmosphere and vibe are really what stands out. There was a good mix of people, young and older. Not too loud and has good ambient lighting and music. Foodwise, a couple of appetizers fell short for us but everything else was amazing. The smoked fish dip was bland and had a fishbone…it happens but it shouldn’t. The texture of the crab cake was tough and not what I’m used to when I think of crab cake. The hush puppies are delicious but need a ramekin of the aioli for extra dipping. The wedge salad and the beef tartare were my absolute faves! My husband ordered the Cavatelli and I snuck a bite or two. Also delicious! Our server was very attentive and polite. Overall, it’s pricey but we look forward to our next visit!

Wow! Hard to make a better first impression. This place is really beautiful and the decor is not only "cool vibe," but also (unlike most new spots) has enough soft surfaces that allow for conversation. The food was spectacular-appetizers of crab hushpuppies and ceviche were both amazing. My wife's Duck was perfect and I allowed the server to convince me the fried chicken was worth skipping the steak. Was she ever right...a unique deliteful mix of savory and sweet. We split some incredible sprouts as well. Great bar and our dirty martinis were excellent. In addition I really appreciated our servers guidance. What a great dining experience. These BBQ boys done upscale right!

Yelp
The husband picked TheMont for our Friday night date and I was excited to this new modern dining location. The parking scene is a little tight but we are True Texans & drive a larger truck so I'll compromise. The ambiance was great, & I could tell right away the designer was very deliberate in setting up the dinning and bar area. Overall, we had a wonderful time in a side booth. The food was wonderful & waiter was thoughtful but I will say that the music did not fit the vibe! Recommend Leon bridges - pay homage to a local FW artist

Yelp
The place is beautiful inside, but it felt way more west coast than Fort Worth. I don't need longhorns and rusted metal, but I do need it feel a little more comfortable for a long time Fort Worth guy and his crew. Turn the music down, and maybe a little less club style music. At least play some music that fits the ambience of a high end restaurant. La Pulga ranch water was $30 with mostly ice. The cheapest entree on the menu was a $41 yard bird. Now it was tasty, but hard to feel good about fried chicken over $40. Deviled eggs for apps... decent, but there were 3 of them and they were $23. Come on! My recommendation is skip the Mont. There are many better restaurants in Fort Worth for the price.

Yelp
Great: Wagyu ribeye steak, wedge salad, Brussels sprouts Needs improvement: mushroom side (very bland), bartender service (slow, inconsistent, no Jack and no Crown, no domestic beer, and weak drinks). Old Fashion was weak and was $35!!! The seafood appetizer was $125 and was very bland. The lobster had no flavor, but the hot sauce and ceviche were good. It took 30 minutes for some to get their drinks, we had to ask for forks, and they were bringing the wrong drinks. I asked for black pepper and -- my hand to Jesus -- she brought me a little ramikin with 1/2 teaspoon of pepper. In summary, splurging on a great dinner every now and then is nice, but when it was over $1000 for 6 people, the service, drinks, and food need to ALL be TOP notch.

Yelp
Great place for date night or an elevated night out. Service was comfortable and polished. Som was knowledgeable and made wonderful suggestions for wine pairing. Food was exciting- We enjoyed the wedge salad, the duck, handmade pastas, and the doughnut dessert. All were delicious. Small touches like amuse bouche, pre-desserts and takeaways made the experience feel more exciting. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
The Mont is a new fine dining restaurant in Fort Worth. They have complimentary valet for parking. The dining room is beautiful and the service is impeccable. They even have a glass wall, so you can request to sit and watch the kitchen and the chef (I didn't know, so we didn't reserve that table). The food was excellent, the salad was probably my favorite thing. (I do love vegetables, I'm "one of those.") Overall, Mom and I loved it and we'll definitely be back soon!

Yelp
Impressive from the beginning /entrance, I was excited to try out a new upscale restaurant in the area. Gorgeous decor& layout. Impressive menu from the appetizers, small plates, entrees, & desserts. We had a view of the busy kitchen. Loves my light & tasty beet salmon appetizer, the Bibb lettuce salad was fresh & tasty with a portion to share. The seafood hush puppies were mild in flavor and well made. My cod was perfectly cooked with a light yet meaty texture with well thought out sides. My husband's lamb was tender and well flavored. Our mushroom side was amazing, earthy and deliciously flavored. The Chocolate One dessert (we had to go) was so unique and wonderful. Not too rich and a smooth texture with pomegranate seeds & pine nuts! It was heavenly! The buttermilk tart was sweet & comforting. We were in a large party so that may have accounted for the delay in entree service, but I definitely want to try out more options from the well curated menu!

Yelp
Great new restaurant in Fort Worth! It's dark and sexy inside with a very cozy and modern feel. Perfect for date night, grabbing drinks, or girls night. We ordered the oysters and beef tartare - both amazing. We had the Grouper, Steak Au Poivre, Brussels sprouts and mushrooms... everything was amazing. On top of that, our server, Charlemagne, was both funny and personable but also very knowledgeable about the menu. Top notch service all night between him, the water runners, table clearing and checking in on us! My only criticism is my husband is a beer drinker so I wish their beer list was a little longer.. at least a Stella or Peroni!

Yelp
It's such a beautiful restaurant and we would definitely love to eat there more often, but it's not vegetarian friendly at all! I understand the owners are behind barbecue restaurants. we live in Parker county and that's all we have. please add a few vegetarian options.

Yelp
Second time at The Mont...it's not really near my neighborhood, but has a great view and stunning interior, so my girls group decided to give it a try. Of the four of us, I was the only one who had already been there. We had a 6:15 reservation. It's loud. When I say loud, I mean almost concert loud. We constantly had to repeat ourselves, the waitress couldn't hear us, it was frustrating. Food was good. Pate was tasty, cured salmon was well prepared, wedge was fresh, but had some unidentifiable small things on it. Steak lacked flavor. Parsnips were good. Bread "course" is served in kind of a large strange bowl, but they do offer gluten free bread, so I appreciated that. Drinks were timely for the most part. No salt and pepper on the table-always annoying to me. Awkward cutlery. We had 3 drinks each, 3 apps, 2 salads, 2 entrees and a side. $600 for 4 people. I'll go back but only right when they open. Ears are still ringing!

Yelp
My first review was a few weeks ago and I was considerably more generous than I'm going to be right now. We thought we would give it a second chance as they are relatively new and they came out with some new fall courses. But our meal could not have been worse. It's too bad, because the atmosphere and the bar scene is great but a restaurant has to have good food and that's what they lack. Where do I begin? First of all, and this is a relatively small complaint, but their martinis glasses are half size. Little dainty glasses that may have been used in the 1940s. But at $19, it feels like a serious rip off and that's just the beginning. I think it's important to mention the good first, so I will say that the lobster hush puppies were actually good. They just needed more of the sauce. There was just a smear of the sauce and that wasn't enough. My Chicken liver pate literally must've been sitting out on the counter for hours because it had brown edges. When I showed it to the manager, I asked him what he thought was wrong, and he said, "What? Is it green?" (I swear to God.) needless to say, I sent it back and incredibly they said there was no fresh pate to bring out. (And we arrived at 630pm So, I can only assume I was served at least day old pate...Disgusting!!) The deviled eggs that I gave rave reviews to last time, now had brown yolk. Talk about unappetizing! They were very bitter tasting. They should not have changed the eggs because they were actually good before. Main courses: The Cluck. Probably the best thing that we had, but the chicken was still very dry. The duck: I sent it back because it was like a salt lick (seriously, I had some else at my table taste it and they wanted to spit it out) also, There were some weird green looking tortillas and some kind of pickle salsa that was supposed to go with it. Strange. Maybe it was supposed to be eaten like Peking Duck?? Not even in the ballpark! It definitely did not translate. The fish that a friend had was undercooked and fishy. A bad combo. He couldn't eat it. The venison schnitzel was least edible. None of us ordered a dessert because there was nothing on the menu that was enticing. I live in the neighborhood where The Mont is and we are in dire need of decent restaurants in this area, but you can't live on atmosphere alone. We had such high hopes, but I'm not sure they can deliver no matter how much time they have. By the way, the waitress said that the chef is a spiritual man and blesses the food, which sounds nice, but I don't think even God can help this place.

Yelp
I have been to The Mont 3 times. 1 time in the dining room and the other 2 times sitting at the bar. The Mont is pricey for the quality of the food and drinks. Very stingy with the alcohol. Service is sub par. If you want a nice romantic dinner and drinks, do not go there as the volume of the music is very loud. We complained multiple times and the manager would turn it down and then several minutes later the music would be loud again. I had high hopes for The Mont but they have a long way to go to serve the neighboring community.

Marcy C.

Yelp
The atmosphere music and decor is absolutely stunning. The ceviche was amazing. Although it was offputting for me is that they would not even try to make accommodations or substitutions for my dietary restrictions and all . I have never been to a restaurant that could not accommodate my dietary restrictions within reason. I asked if they could make my scallops without butter, as having lifelong dairy and gluten allergies I understand this may sacrifice seasoning and taste. Even if that just means cooking it in oil and salt instead of its original seasoning. I understand that some things are pre-mixed and cannot be accommodated....but being such a high end restaurant, I would hope that they'd offer a solution but it felt like a general unwillingness to help. I was told it could not be made without butter and that the sides were prepared as is and could not be made with without butter as well. I was forced to get a side that I did not enjoy. Overall, I just wasn't a pleasant experience as my dietary accommodations could not even be slightly altered nor recommendations made, which was disappointing. When this was brought to the manager's attention and she stood 10 toes down on butter, not being able to be removed.
