"After working at a number of SF’s top restaurants, veteran sommelier Paul Einbund has settled down at this neighborhood charmer in the Mission, named for his father. Unsurprisingly, The Morris boasts a selection of wine, top-notch cocktails and a sophisticated, craveable comfort-food menu.Quell your hunger with slices of Tartine country loaf—baked just down the street—as you peruse the menu with appealing bites both small (pork cracklins with honey and Aleppo pepper) and large (charred broccolini with succulent grilled squid in chili-lime dressing). They have an extensive list of housemade charcuterie and the pâte de Campagne is a can't miss. Their signature smoked duck, brined for two days and aged for four, is a smoky, tender and meaty marvel." - Michelin Inspector
"If you’re not a big turkey person, the Mission spot’s smoked, roasted duck is available for pick-up on November 21st and 22nd. You can order a half or whole duck here, along with a wine pack or chocolate pudding." - julia chen 1
"When’s the last time you sat down for hickory and cedar-smoked duck, an impressive charcuterie plate that included an incredibly buttery tête de cochon, and wine from a list that reads more like a long, captivating novela? If the answer is never, get to The Morris. Here, service is impressive, the space feels intimate, and the energy is high without being chaotic. Ultimately, this spot looks a lot like a laid-back neighborhood place, but it’s actually a destination restaurant in disguise." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez
"Another perk of dining at this Mission bistro—besides their knockout charcuterie and chartreuse ice cream—is their john. It’s a downright pastoral dream, complete with a projector showing footage of a car driving through nature scored by Satie’s piano. It’s all trance-inducing and wellness-retreat-like, and might even push you to unpack big life questions (“Did I leave the stove on?”) as you wash your hands." - patrick wong, julia chen 1, lani conway
"The Mission tends to be a place you hit for burritos, trendy spots on Valencia, or just that microdose of San Francisco grit. The Morris has no burritos and is not particularly trendy or gritty, but we’re OK with that, and you will be, too. It’s tucked in a deep pocket of the neighborhood (almost in Potrero), and it’s phenomenal. Start with a foie gras dumpling, then share some shrimp toast and the roast duck. Just save room for the donuts." - taylor abrams
