The Best New Bars Around D.C. Right Now | Eater DC

"Logan Circle’s mod new bar opened last month with high-tech golf simulators, darts, and Caddyshack playing on loop. A Mad Men-like look embraces the sport’s midcentury-era rise to fame. Riffs on country club classics include a vodka-fueled Transfusion and Don Daly spiked with Don Julio, joined by drinking snacks like 10-inch pizzas and chicken tenders. The building’s developer Jim Abdo is a partner on the playful project, which is operated by H2 Collective — the Hilton hospitality brothers’ prolific D.C. group behind places like Players Club (which sits below), El Rey, Cafe Colline, Crimson, and Chez Billy Sud." - Emily Venezky

Seven D.C. Restaurant Openings to Know, January 2025 | Eater DC

"A stylish second-story nightlife perch on the 14th Street strip where guests can snack on pizza and sip spiked iced teas while working on their golf game; the concept comes from the H2 Collective hospitality team (behind Players Club) and developer Jim Abdo." - Tierney Plumb

Logan Circle Lands a New Golf-Themed Bar With Retro Flair | Eater DC

"Opening Friday, January 17 on the second floor of the Mai Place apartment building (1400 14th Street NW), this clubhouse‑style venue — developed with partner Jim Abdo and operated by H2 Collective (the Hilton brothers' group behind El Rey, Cafe Colline, Crimson, and Chez Billy Sud) — transformed a former office into a sprawling bar with room for 280 customers. The concept and theme pay homage to municipal golf courses: a pro shop upon entry invites customers to dress the part with for‑sale swag like embroidered caps and customized golf tees. The Mad Men–like look embraces the sport’s midcentury‑era rise to fame, with old‑school photos of golfing greats, tufted leather couches, plenty of preppy plaid accents, and a handsome green paint job. Riffs on country‑club classics include a vodka‑fueled “Transfusion,” Screwdriver‑esque “Breakfast Ball,” and “Don Daly” spiked with Don Julio ($14–$15), alongside a mostly canned beer list; a short selection of drinking snacks includes 10‑inch pizzas, chicken tenders, and fries — “We aren’t going for a Michelin star,” jokes H2’s regional operations manager Chris Janiak. High‑tech virtual simulators let patrons aim for a hole in one on some of the world’s most iconic courses, from St. Andrews in Scotland to Torrey Pines in San Diego, with tee times starting at $50 per person. Games aren’t limited to golf: customers can also throw a football and shoot penalty kicks on an interactive darts display, and nine‑foot‑long putting greens double as spots to play games like “putt” pong and tic‑tac‑toe. The venue keeps the party going late (as late as 2:45 a.m. on weekends), opens at 5 p.m. during the week and noon on weekends, features 20 TVs expected to show support for D.C. sports teams, and broadcasts the cult classic Caddyshack on loop on two huge projectors near the bar; as Janiak notes about a possible celebrity cameo, “I’m friends with his sons when I lived in Charleston.” “We like to say it is the 'graduate' of Players Club,” says H2’s regional operations manager Chris Janiak." - Tierney Plumb

This was my first time at the Muni, and I see myself coming back. I went for a private event for National Women's Golf Day. I enjoyed the putt simulator a lot as my short game is what I need to work on. DJ played good music. The pizza came out quick and was alright. Happy hour deals are reasonable. Improvement area would be more of a menu or at least salad options or veggies platter. There was plenty of space to commune. However, many stayed around the simulator section. Stop in to check it out.

The Muni is a nice hidden kind of spot on 14th street Washington DC. The golf themed interior is very nice and spacious. The bartender was very nice and a pleasure to speak with. She had a lot of patience with one of my friends who had too much to drink prior. Responsibly she cut him off and carried on with providing great customer service despite the shenanigans. I had a grape cocktail that was damn good and stayed there for over an hour. The place was not busy but the ambiance and concept was nice enough to keep me and a couple of friends there for quite some time. Cheers!!!!

This is a decent venue with some potential. The signature drinks were good and the environment is nice - it's a quieter bar which makes sense for a new place. Management however is young, inexperienced, and completely unprofessional. We tried their putting darts game which costs $15 for a half hour. Not crazy expensive, but the game broke only 10-20 minutes into it. My group of four spent about 30 more minutes trying to debug and fix it ourselves without bothering anyone. Eventually we realized the software was just broken. When we finally spoke to management (Jessica), she was immediately confrontational. I suggested we should get a full refund since we couldn't use what we paid for, but she was dead set on keeping at least $15. I directly asked her, "Okay, I'll ask you, was the service we paid for not working?" and she admitted, "Yes it was defective" - then decided we should be kicked out of the bar instead of handling this reasonably. The bouncer seemed confused about kicking us out once he realized we weren't just drunk, and told us our drinks would be refunded. This place clearly has major communication issues at the management level. We spent 50 minutes total there with most of that time trying to fix their broken system, only to be thrown out after they admitted their equipment didn't work. I'd avoid this place for a few months, maybe years, to see if they make it or figure things out better. A bar needs mature management that can handle basic customer service, and The Muni definitely doesn't have that yet.

Atmosphere of this place is really cool, love the vibe and the commitment to the theme. It is actually HUGE inside and there are quite a few fun little games where you putt on a green but there is a digital overlay where you play "beer pong" or "darts". Fun little spot for a low-key date with activities or a hang with the homies

Great atmosphere and vibes. Strongly recommend allowing guests bring their own clubs. People who live for golf won’t come if they can’t use their own sticks.

As someone with zero athletic ability The Muni is the perfect place to attempt sport without the risk of injury. If you're like me and you can appreciate thoughtful vintage design, I think the venue is spacious and beautifully expressed from the chairs to the wood paneling, to the cozy couches found in the back corner. I am especially impressed with the staff and the service since service in DC seems to pride itself on being abysmal. From the moment you walk through the doors, I found the hosts to be welcoming and friendly. I was genuinely impressed with the service provided, especially when I left my bag unattended and they promptly placed it behind the counter. I also enjoyed the kind and friendly bartenders specifically Troy, who always encouraged shots and never let my drink get too low. I had a minor issue with the sound of the game and the manager promptly solved my issue. I've been in the venue both when it was packed with unhinged Republicans from Florida celebrating a Commanders win, and when it was empty and my Z list celebrity companion was not so silently harassing single women at the bar, (sorry to those women), and every time I had a great time. I recommend The Muni to anyone looking for a venue that can accommodates a company party or an intimate date night. If you're like me and the thought alone of Top Golf brings on the anxiety of a possible concussion then The Muni is certainly a stylish and safe alternative.

Yelp
Company had a post work happy hour here and it was a lot of fun. Great bar service, tons of space, arcade games, with a quirky golf theme throughout the space.
