Yelp
A standard Irish pub with a good selection of decent bar food.
During COVID they have a pretty awesome outdoor setup with tables around the entire corner and barriers between each table. I came for lunch and there were a handful of people but not very many, so we managed to pick a pretty isolated table and felt relatively safe. They even had several outdoor TVs and were playing different sports games on different screens, so I'd say it's a pretty prime place to chill and have a beer if you miss watching sports at a bar during these times.
We got an appetizer combo platter (which included onion rings, potato skins, fried mushrooms, and wings), the dandy tandy (a grilled cheese with mustard, sausage, and sauerkraut) with a side of fries, and the Guinness beef stew with a side of soda bread. The portions were pretty generous -- we definitely had plenty of leftovers which is always fine by me.
The food was a bit slow to come out, and it was a bit hard to flag down our waitresses because they had to come in and out a lot, but it wasn't really a big deal and seemed mostly to do with the kitchen and table setup for COVID, which I can't blame them too much for. And when we did manage to get their attention they were always quick to return with what we needed.
The actual food itself was a bit hit or miss with me. Honestly, everything deep fried (the onion rings, the mushrooms, and the french fries) was top notch and I would definitely recommend. The onion rings in particular were probably some of the best I've ever had, and I'd come back just for that. But some of the other food (potato skins, wings, soda bread) was just okay -- definitely not bad, but nothing to phone home about. The grilled cheese was probably the least impressive and something I wouldn't really get again.
I will say though that I appreciated how they seemed to have a good selection of traditional Irish entrees (not that I'm Irish but it seemed traditional to me). The only one we actually tried was the stew, which was pretty satisfying, but they also have things like corned beef and cabbage, bangers and mash, chicken pot pie, and shepherd's pie. They even have condiments like HP sauce and Irish Ketchup which I don't know if I've ever really seen before. The traditional Irish breakfast definitely intrigued me and after trying their fries (which were super crisp, thick cut, and delicious) I'd consider coming back to try their fish and chips as well.
