10 Exceptional Bars and Restaurants for Live Music in Phoenix | Eater Phoenix

"Listed five times by Downbeat Magazine as one of the world’s great jazz venues, this quirky, intimate spot — a non-profit and educational facility devoted to promoting jazz — is considered a Phoenix treasure, named for legendary drummer and Phoenix native Lewis Nash. Nobody minds the slim pickings regarding beer, wine and food (the latter limited to movie theater-style snacks) because they’re there to see jazz veterans from around the country (particularly New York, Chicago and Los Angeles) give mind-bending performances in every jazz genre. Many just grab a bite in the neighborhood before the show." - Nikki Buchanan

This is a great venue for Jazz in Phoenix. We love the new setup after the venue went through a huge renovation. Not only they always have a great lineup of performers but also do a lot for the community. Highly recommended.

I like the venue and the music. The jam session was entertaining. The drinks were quite disappointing though. I order a mojito and it was pretty bad. It wasn't a $16 drink for sure. They should up their game for the drinks.

I would say the event management is a little lack luster and they definitely need to improve the sound engineering. Also, the chairs provided are the WORST in terms of ergonomics, especially since you have to sit there for a few hours. The drinks and food were okay. The performance we saw was amazing but I was right in front of the trumpet so if I didn’t have ear plugs my hearing would probably be gone. Some suggestions would be to get better sound engineering, get COMFY seating and provide ear plugs.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I thought the new renovation would make things better, but their issues soon made themselves apparent. First off, the bartender lady is rude every time I go there. No emotion, no smile or kindness. That is not the kind of service I expect from a bartender... And they charge you $10 to watch amateur musicians play a jam night! Not to mention, I went there to play drums, and the pianist and bassist heckled me, told me I don't know how to play, and would allow me to move anything for my accomodations. The last time no one had a problem with me moving a cymbal for being a lefty... And they kicked me off after playing only one song. I waited 2 hours to play when I was the FIRST drummer to sign up. This place clearly doesn't care about its guest. Do not waste your time and money. Unless you're into seeing crackheads pissing outside the place.

The little Jazz Club that jams! We were lucky to make it to a spectacular showcase of Dennis Rowland & his mentees from Scottsdale Community College. Every semester, the class culminates in a concert held here. We were truly wowed by the variety of singers - all different ages & styles. The concert started st 7:30 & when we took off at 10 pm, it was still going strong. We experienced such a positive vibe there, per the usual! I sat next to a chick I'd never met before & we just chimed in as backup when one student sang Sinatra's "That's Life." Because we were FEELIN' IT! The band itself was outstanding - they consistently jammed for more than four hours. The pianist?! Epic. Dennis hung out on the sidelines, supporting his students, as he's done for a decade+ The bar served a very small glass of house Zin for $9. Normally, I would not be cool w/ that. BUT...The Nash is in the middle of a capital campaign to renovate the club, so if upcharging for drinks can help fund the reno, I am more than happy to pay for extra. They have photos up of how the club will be upgraded & it looks pretty grand! We're excited for the makeover. As far as parking: it was disappointing that street parking meters on the west side were covered - meaning not usable. No idea why City of Phx did that, but they're where we usually park for $3-$5. Instead we parked in Carly's parking lot w/ the app & it was THIRTEEN DAMN DOLLARS. AYKM?! That's bananas. I'd say get there earlier to find street parking that may require hoofing it a little. Overall, we had a terrific Tuesday night!

Between the amazing bartender and his great stories, this crisp light beer, and the mural of Mahsa #WomenLifeFreedom that brings all the emotions, I couldn’t be in a better place at this moment. Cheers 🍻

Yelp
This was my first time at this intimate Jazz venue located on the corner of Roosevelt and 1st Street in the heart of downtown Phoenix with mostly volunteer staff. They had great reviews and I really wanted to love the show but I just couldn't and didn't. We were pretty underwhelmed and found ourselves yawning and ended up leaving early. I think it is a nice venue if you're a huge jazz fan as evidenced by all the positive reviews. It just wasn't for me unfortunately.

Yelp
Looking for great jazz in PHX? Look no further than The Nash! I recently visited Arizona for work and decided to stay a few extra days for my own mini solo retreat. One of my favorite things to do when traveling solo is to checkout a jazz show and I'm always browsing through Yelp to find a local joint to spend a few hours. After searching, I came across The Nash and was determined to make my way there while in town. Lucky me, Emmy-award winning jazz pianist, Nick Manson, was playing one of the evenings I was there so I was in! When I arrived, guests were slowly making their way inside and there were a host of friendly volunteers buzzing about. I purchased my ticket at the door as I had never been inside of The Nash and didn't really understand which seat may be the best for me. The team was kind enough to point out which seats were available before I purchased my ticket. What's funny is, it's not a very huge building, very intimate seating which I loved, so idk why I was so confused lol. I believe that almost everything is better with a glass of wine so I was super happy to see that there was a concession stand open and ready for guests - WIN! With quick snack options and a nice lil wine menu, The Nash has the right idea! I took a seat in the back as I thought it'd be awkward to be stuck at a front table with someone I didn't know, lol. I'm friendly but I like to skip the small talk. So I was happy that the seat in the back was open! The show started on time and man, what a show! I ended up leaving a bit early as it was getting dark and I was tired, but wow - I truly enjoyed the show and The Nash, I can't wait to go back and support their mission and performers again!

Yelp
Intimate vibe with diverse crowds united by great music. Clean facilities and friendly volunteers that usher you through the experiences.

Yelp
I appreciate this spot, seen a handful of shows. They have a mission to bring jazz to the forefront, they are big on education for youth, showcasing some great musicians. A few months ago we went to listen to a Tribute to John Coltrane. Yes. Fantastic, absolutely wonderful, if you close your eyes you think you were listening to real deal. The members of this quartet were immensely talented, young, personable, polite and genuinely grateful to the audience for coming. It felt good, I was happy to witness great jazz in our community. However.... I would like The Nash to read this. I would like to express my disappointment this evening with a vocalist who was brought on stage to sing a few songs. As he stepped on stage said a few words, then proceeded to identify each of the four band members by the correlating names of the original band members who actually played with John Coltrane back in the day. I admit I do not know the names of Coltrane's band members. I'm sure they were amazing musicians in their own right but I could not name them! This vocalist on the stage then looks straight to the audience says "and if you don't know these names there's ..." and points to the exit with two hands. As though to say "there's the door you can leave" An awkward silence filled in the room. He just told us there's the door if we didn't know the names of the original band members. (!?) After the awkwardness dissipated I quietly said to my friend, I don't know the names of Coltrane's band, and you don't either so I guess we need to leave. He agreed that it was an odd thing for the act to say to a paying audience. Yes it was very odd, and disrespectful. We are an audience looking forward to this evening, we are all happy and excited, people coming together with like minds.....being shown the door??? I think he meant it in jest but neither he nor the audience was laughing. It was awkward and very unnecessary. It did not make the audience feel good. My heart sank, his comment & gesture made me feel unappreciated. Amd I thought this was a place of music appreciation This is the deal: Our jazz IQ should not matter! We came to celebrate/listen to great jazz . I don't think the management of The Nash took note of this moment as it happened so fast. This is more on Dennis Rowland than the venue, however it's important for the Nash to know, after all you are here in our community to educate the public on the world of jazz. We welcome the education, we welcome the music, but not an insult. There should be no disrespect directed to the audience. Without an audience you have no show.

Yelp
Cool jazz club named after Louis Nash in downtown Phoenix. The seating is perfect, there's no bad seat in the house. Great artists bless the stage weekly. We had the pleasure of seeing Michael Powers and band and they were amazing. This jazz club is a non profit. Quaint and cozy. They offer snacks, alcohol and non alcoholic beverages. I really enjoyed this venue and would return again. If any of you all visit, take a sweater as it can get a little chilly in there.

Yelp
What a wonderful Sunday afternoon! We 3 with Rene Patrick and Francine Reed. What a lot of talent to witness. Love this place.
google avatar

Andrea H.

Yelp
What a great place to see a show! My first time and won't be my last. Seats about 100 so it's like live music from your living room. Francine Reed was great - funny, voice terrific, band tight, great ambience and staff. Def will be back!

Yelp
What a treat! First time at the Nash Jazz Club in Phoenix. Front Row Table to see Francine Reed and the band. I used to see her perform at Chuy's Night Club in Tempe off of Mill Avenue many years ago. What a great performer! The Nash is celebrating their 10 Year Anniversary! It is a nonprofit organization that promotes Jazz on the Valley. Lots of opportunities for volunteers and those interested in hearing some great jazz artists. You can order tickets online. The Nash seats over one hundred people and a great entertainment venue. Parking is limited but the Light Rail and surrounding parking options are available.

Yelp
One of the best jazz venues/education centers in the southwest. Good environment, plenty of good performers. As a jazz musician I respect that there jam sessions are hosted by a variety of different hosts each week.

Yelp
I did not know what to expect coming here to The Nash. My first visit here was ever surprising. When you walk in you hand your ticket to the person that checks you in, and you are taken to your table. Did I say table, yes indeed our table was front row, and everyone is seated at their table. We figured out The Nash can accommodate over 100 customers. Nestled on the corner of 1st Street and Roosevelt Street, it sits in the heart of Roosevelt Row. On this Sunday afternoon we came to see Francine Reed. She was such a joy to listen to as well as entertaining and her ability to talk to her audience is impeccable. The musicians that accompany her were amazing, as well as talented. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with incredible entertainment. Since it is a small venue all the customers in the audience have a tendency to talk to one another which makes you feel right at home. Would I return to The Nash, absolutely. Even if you are able to make it here once, do it, you won't be disappointed. Just remember the parking can be challenging but you can find parking. Check out their upcoming events, maybe you will see an artist you would like to listen to. It is a great place to listen to jazz.

Yelp
Exceptional local venue. Great sound, visuals, and vibe. Jazz is featured, coming from a variety of performers, amateur and professional. Refreshments are available and a friendly helpful staff of volunteers. A community resource for promoting musical education. And did I mention the great sound?

Jerry P.

Yelp
Historically, I am a classic rock, blues, some folk and select alternative kind of guy when it comes to music. I found the Nash a few years back and attended a show. I keep going back. I'm drawn to the venue. The degree of talent and skill of the musicians presented there are world class. The atmosphere is intimate and classy. The audience is as diverse as it gets. What's more, is what they do at the school there, for students and the future of jazz is commendable. If you have not attended a show there, do yourself a favor and check it out. Maybe, I'll see you there.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. Intimate venue, excellent music, friendly staff (mostly volunteers). Parking garage right across the street. Sandra Bassett performed Motown- she and her band were incredible. Could not of been any better!

Yelp
Another fine performance at The Nash. I don't have much time to attend live music despite living in Scottsdale, but I hit this amazing intimate club whenever possible. On Sat. 1/7/23 they had the amazing Kim Weston (vocals & electric violin) band. Included were Beth Lederman (keys - well respected in AZ), Marcus Williams (guitar), Mario Mendivil (bass) & Ronald Bruner, Jr. (drums - from LA). This place books the best artists from all over the US & world - no wonder Downbeat Magazine lists them as one of the world's best Jazz clubs.

Yelp
We hit this place on First Friday this March and it was a welcome escape from all the cacophony outside. It is a cozy venue with tables and chairs facing a well lit stage with great acoustics. There is a large screen above and next to the stage for those sitting toward the back. The very back of the room has a raised counter for standing room. The restrooms are very nice unisex single seaters in the back as well. Bottled wine and beer are offered. This is a nice spot for a date. It is smaller than the old Rhythm Room and the venue attracts popular talent from the world of jazz.

Howard A.

Yelp
Probably one of the finest Jazz venues in the West! Whether you like classical , contemporary or other jazz genres , you will experience some of the most talented musicians. Recently saw 2 tenor saxophonists from LA literally take the 120 person sold out house down! A Phoenix treasure even if you are not crazy about Jazz!

Yelp
I absolutely love this venue! Our first time visiting Roosevelt Row area and first time at The Nash. It's a small intimate place. Several tables for 2, a high top seating bar in the back and chairs along the side. We had a table but there's really no bad seat in the house. We saw The David Binney Trio and they were amazing. The sound at the Nash isn't a problem at all - sometimes buildings are not really set up for good acoustics but The Nash was on point. There's a small snack area and they offer full bottles of wine as well. I was worried about parking as we don't visit downtown on weekend evenings. There's a free parking garage with plenty of parking just behind Fist & Last (see my review!) which is walking distance from The Nash. If you are looking for a great romantic night out, have a nice dinner nearby and wrap up your evening with a chill visit to The Nash Jazz Club with a nice bottle of wine.

Yelp
Best Jazz club in the state. Small and intimate just like a Jazz Club should be.

Yelp
Great Vibes. I throughly enjoyed this night at The Nash. Last minute plans that turned out great. I will definitely visit again, might become a regular.

Yelp
The Nash is a jazz house that is home to Jazz In Arizona, Inc a 501 nonprofit whose mission is, "to build a vabriant Jazz community in the Valley." And they do just that, by hosting touring artists, local musicians, weekly jam sessions, master classes, and educational programs ranging from one on one private lessons to jazz workshops. Make sure you take a look at their calender online! We came for the Peggy Lee Tribute which was wonderful! Jan Sandwich was on vocals and chronologically went through Peggy Lee's life from birth to death and all of the main events in her life in between partnering each event with one of Peggy's songs that were related to each event. It was a great narrative beautifully shared. Nicole Pesce played on the piano and Adam Clark played on the drums. They both were great as well! The show was fantastic but there were certain things that were not. 1. The chairs they have are not comfortable at all. 2. They don't serve food, just snacks. However, they said you can bring outside food to any show. So maybe hop to Carly's during intermission for a to-go order? 3. They have a mini-bar so no full bar options that most people are used to. Unsure if they also allow a BYOB policy too, I'm sure you can call and ask. As for parking, you can park in their shared lot with Carly's, use the metered parking along the street (our show was 2 hours long, so very doable for the meter), or you can park in the parking garage across the street, NW of their entrance. You can also buy the tickets in cash when you get there, which I did. Ours was $14 each. The house gets packed quickly so come 20 minutes early to grab a parking spot and a seat! Also, they have student discounts on the tickets, make sure to bring your ID to receive it.

Yelp
So if you're looking for a jazz club similar to one you would see in NYC or Los Angeles, this will be disappointing. I did read the description and realized it was more of a "amateur" performance, but I guess I expected a different vibe. I will say there were one or two people that REALLY impressed! don't expect a nice bar or a large option of alcoholic drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolute wonderful time!!! Small intimate place to enjoy Amazing Musicians!!! Volunteers handle the venue with style and grace

Maryellen S.

Yelp
I love going to The Nash! It's never disappointing. Great performances and reasonable ticket prices. I recently went to the new Jazz and Poetry event with Holly Pyle and House of Stairs. It was phenomenal! A tribute to Donney Hathaway but a far cry from the usual 70's music retrospective. Most times you can buy tickets at the door but they do sell out from time to time. They sell beer and wine and some snacks but no real food. If you go to Short Leash (they close at 9 pm) next door you can bring your food into The Nash...it's cool. You can also bring other take out. Not sure if you can still bring your own wine and beer. I'll find out next time. Street parking is usually not too hard to find. If it's really crowded, there is a lot across the street from the venue.

Aleah M.

Yelp
Super fun night out! It's a small place. But it's cute and quirky. The tickets are worth it!

Yelp
Great Date Night if you love live music & bite with friends or colleagues - $15 cover but worth the entertainment. Great natural musicians & great atmosphere !!

Yelp
I have been to the Nash a lot this year and every year I find myself loving it even more. Today was a jam session allowing musicians to come in and share their talent and I am not surprised by the talent The Nash showcases.5$8: is easily one of the best locations to visit in Phoenix. I have brought my grandmothers and best friend here and each time we do not disappoint. Tonight I was even carded (thanks for thinking I'm younger than my drivers license states)! Enjoy great jazz, wine, and talent!
google avatar

Yelp
I'd return in a heartbeat ( pun) it was fun and a mixed crowd, no crowd drama nor overbearing staff to insist on beverages, simply low key with enjoyable music. I liked the fairytale brownies as snack and hub got a beer. The paintings of musicians on the walls is a cozy touch.

Yelp
Great spot ! New to the state and was excited to see that music venues in phx are now asking for Covid cards , so I feel safer attending . Fantastic show on Sat 8/21. Lovely building , good space , great sound . Plus they do offer beer, wine, and snacks which is always nice . We will be back !

Yelp
I came here for the first time with friends for the Pro Jam session when Nash himself was playing in the House trio. I was amazed by the talent of all the artists that performed that night! My friend told me the quality of the the other jam sessions varied, but this Pro Jam session was by far the best! We got here about half an hour before the session started so we were able to get a table. Got some white wine to go with the music. It was a full house, and the people had to stand in the back of the room. So, definitely come early for the pro jam session if you want a table. Nash-drum, Ben Hedquist-bass and Angelo Versace-piano (the house trio) were amazingly good, and they made sure that other artists had a chance to play on stage as well. There were some visiting singers in town So they performed as well. It was a very tight knit community, and the performers mostly knew each other. The whole performance can be described as full of "harmony and creativity". Highly recommend! And I will come bk again just for the pro jam session!

John M.

Yelp
The two of us sat at table for four. The other party of two had not arrived yet. They seated a very strange woman at our table. We had no room left for our friends. The strange woman was annoying. We have not been back since. The venue is quite good. Small enough for an intimate live performance.
google avatar

Yelp
Charming, thoughtful and good old fun. A fun experience you won't forget. It's very clean. And the managers very sincere in their warmth. What stuck out to me was just how nice and welcoming it was. It's just an atmosphere that beckons you to come and experience it. A welcomed change of pace from the futuristic gauche modern culture outside its front door.

Yelp
The Superstition Orchestra is leading the charge tonight, in a ROCKIN' tribute to the legendary jazz artist and composer, Woody Shaw. If you haven't checked out the NASH, shame on you. It makes for a TERRIFIC evening amongst jazz aficionados in Phoenix. COME ON DOWN !!

Yelp
It's been a while since I first wrote my review of The Nash, but first impressions can often lead to mis-interpretations. As I sit, it's one of their Sunday improv jazz nights (6-9pm every Sunday) and I'm listening to the band kick out a Dizzy Gillespie tune. The upright base is kicking it, the drummer is keeping time perfectly, and the pianist is rocking out, well as rocking as you can really get with this one. I've been back a number of times since that first pass by on First Friday, and my opinion of this spot has dramatically improved. Improv jazz Sundays involves a solid core trio of musicians as they bring in random musicians just waiting to strut their stuff. $5 for the general public and $2 (or $3 - can't remember exactly) for musicians going up on stage. Show up on a Wednesday at 7:30 and they've got a practicing brass band and you can sit in the audience for $5 per person. Every week they showcase up and coming jazz musicians, local jazz stars in their own right, or touring musicians who've risen the ranks. Some bigger named shows will cost ya $50+, some shows $15, either way this is a nice place to come for some live jazz. Onward and upward, to the really important parts, no kitchen an no bar will leave you dining on candy bars and bottles of soda, a dumbed down movie theater snack bar type of experience, don't fret. The Nash has a BYOB policy that stands against the best. Bring your own beer or wine for a corking fee $5 for wine and $2 for beer I think, but I'd suggest consulting their website for these specifics. With 12 or so 4 top tables, a high top bar-esq seating that fits 10 or so along the back of he room and some random chairs lined up along the edges of the venue, I'd say this place comfortably sits 75 or so. Checking out the neighbors you'll see people who brought pick nick baskets and coolers with them and have made a night of it. A perfect way to dine on cheese and meats, sip a little vino all while listening to some classy jazz. I'm definitely gonna stop and get a to go order next time from my favorite hot dog joint next door for my dining pleasure. Concerned about you're attire? Don't be, downtown is Phoenix chic! Put on your nicest shorts, summer dress, jeans, sandals and a clean shirt and you'll fit right in. If you feel like getting dolled up, business casual also works here, but I've never seen any one in a ball gown or tuxedo here ;-) If you've remained misinformed this whole time about Phoenix culture, well, consider yourself informed. One of my favorite spots to listen to some live jazz, bring your pals, bring your gals, you'll have an enjoyable evening! Happy yelping Phoenix, I'll see you at the Nash!!

We stopped in to watch Phoenix Jazz Girls Rising and we LOVED the vibe. The show was great and the place was really chill.

Yelp
It's great to have a dedicated place for jazz musicians in town. Three are 2 major problems with this venue: 1. They have absolutely no parking. For an establishment as old as this, they should have been able to aquire nearby land and convert to a parking lot for cheap. Instead they have no parking for guests at all, and youll be walking 1/4 to 1 full mile just to get here. That is unfair for elderly and disabled people, not to mention ridiculous to endure during the summer for anyone regardless of ability. They are clearly not thinking through the cost of lack of parking. I forgo this venue very frequently knowing I won't be able to park anywhere nearby. 2. The entry fees are too expensive. Minimum I see is around $20 and for good musicians it's $150 or more. I think musicians should be supported but this pricing model stops me from going all together except in first Friday's when it's free. If they cut their prices in half then it would attract me and more people to the venue. Now it likely only attracts die hard music venue fans. I wish there were more jazz clubs in Arizona. The music scene is very poor in town.

Yelp
For those of you who love Jazz: The Nash recently got their alcohol license - for those of you who have put off attending one of the great jazz sessions because of their limited libations - they are serving drinks now. This cute little club is in the Roosevelt Art District. Super jazz venue in the sunny Southwest. Talented artists.

Yelp
We visited The Nash for a free ASU student performance. It was great. It was free! The venue is pretty low key and located in a great part of town. I really wish we'd visited earlier than we did, as we'd definitely return, were we not moving out of town. I can't really speak to the service, as there wasn't any. Well...other than the phone call I received after leaving a message. THAT was great -- they called back promptly and left me a message with the answer to my question. I imagine ticketed events are probably a little more involved, as they have a drink menu, at least. If you're thinking about visiting, I'd suggest it.

Yelp
Had a great time at the Nash. I like that the venue support Jazz and does community outreach. The venue def can be considered "intimate", great to bring your date if they also enjoy jazz. There is a small booth upfront that sells drink/snack and the price seems reasonable. Friendly atmosphere and I saw people from different range of ages, casual dress and not. It in itself is magical. Def will be back. Also thank you for those who volunteered and helped keep this place running.

Yelp
Great music, great staff, it's free on first Fridays if you want to check it out, it is unusually louder on first Fridays because a lot of kids just go in to escape the heat. But great intimate jazz spot! It's nice to know that real music hasn't died.

Yelp
Why oh why haven't I been to the Nash in the four years I've been here. Why?! For starters, I missed the BYOB. Dern it! Secondly, it's such a cool place. So cool! The volunteers are super sweet and polite. It's such a nice vibe. Seating arrangements are first come first serve. There's maybe 2 long, high top tables in the back and a few tables on the floor if you have food or snacks. Wine by the glasses are $5. Bottles of wine are $16. Don't worry, if you don't finish the bottle, the awesome staff at the Nash will allow you to take the rest of the bottle home. That's a win - win for me! I'm heading back next month to the Nash for the Jazz Meets Poetry event. Can't wait!

Yelp
I came here on Sunday, September 15 it turns out the show got canceled and didn't receive an e-mail or my money back. I was sat down and not informed any further that I would be "seeing half of the show" according to the staff member (which was only 35 minutes). The show should have been approximately 2 hours. After I had complained the staff member took my name, e-mail, and number. I was told I would be contacted in a few days and haven't heard back still. I am very disappointed because the reviews seem to vouch how wonderful this place is.

Yelp
Great place for music downtown! Friendly people, good atmosphere, and the BYOB! Both amateur and well seasoned professionals playing jazz, having a great time, and entertaining the crowd. Not that many places like this that you can go to and just kick back and listen to a bunch of musicians who are doing it just for the love of music. Give it a try, there's nothing here not to like!

Yelp
Very enjoyable evening. I'm shocked at the lack of jazz clubs in the 5th largest city, this being really the only one. If it was closer, I would be a regular. It's a bit cramped, but that's what I'm used to in jazz clubs. Definitely a plus to the city.

Yelp
The Nash is a place that I have been wanting to check out for a while now, and some friends were there Sunday night and told me to come join them, so I did and before I got their I told a friend where I was going because I knew he liked live Jazz music and told him to meet me there, an impromptu double date of sorts I arrived a little after 7 and I have to say I was immediately impressed with The Nash, what a cool lil spot to listen to some live jazz music. The place just has a cool vibe, and its only 5 bucks to sit and listen. It is a byob, so if you want wine or beer, remember to bring it in, also there is $5 corking fee. Here something most don't know about me, My dad is a pianist and my mom was an cellist (though neither play now) so music has always been a part of my life and ever since I was little I have loved the look and sound of a baby grand piano and the cello, well any musical instruments really, so it was a real treat to see them on stage being plucked & played! I'm definitely looking forward to coming back to The Nash to listen to some more live local musicians.

Yelp
I've passed the neon sign like a million times, assuming this was just some quiet little jazz house. I was wrong. It's a booming, hip, jazz house, and I'm a dummy for not checking it out sooner. I was totally buzzed on a First Friday, the place was packed, and we were all bobbing our heads to this really groovy band called "The Stakes". Yeah, that's a plug for a band I've barely discovered, but they kick ass. The acoustics in this venue were divine. Loud, but not overpowering with some crappy PA system (like certain small venues on Indian School). Cool and comfortable, and no one has to leave all sweaty (Like a certain small venue near Grand). I had tons of fun. I'll come back with my friends. The BYOB thing sounds weird, but I can deal. Just don't look at me weird if I waltz in with a case of PBR. Kidding. Kind of. Get cultured. Go to The Nash.

Yelp
Five stars for the music and a minus 1 because foods not an option! But in all fairness I'm in love with the place and will be back in a few days ... Gotta love em ..

Yelp
The music tonight is very much to my taste, very traditional . Be sure you check who's playing before you come. A nice venue, intimate with good acoustics. The people working are mostly volunteers and a bit disorganized, but very nice. The bathrooms are clean and well stocked. The biggest negative is the absence of food service. We planned ahead and brought a picnic. They don't even serve coffee. How can you listen to jazz without coffee? The Nash is certainly the place in Phoenix to go for just jazz.
