How To Spend a Big Fat Weekend in Québec City | Bon Appétit

"Part actually-cool food hall, part farmer’s market, part food business incubator, Grand Marché de Québec is where to go if you’re looking to get a taste of the entire Québec region without, you know, driving around the entire Québec region. I sampled juicy, first-of-the-season local strawberries. Chewy, maple syrup-coated potato donuts (yes, potato!) atBeignes d’Antan. Salty and fennel-dotted salami atLe Pied Bleu. Extremely sweet (and extremely good) maple syrup candies from the St-Raphaël area. And washed down with an American pale ale atSNO Microbrasserie." - ByRachel Karten

Out of the way large marketplace with very fresh local produce. Great options for locals to buy fruit and vegetables but few places to actually eat. Catered mostly to locals with some speciality vendors for tourists.

It wasn't very busy when I visited on a week day. So walking in the market was relatively easy. It is very clean and modern. Bought some alcohol, biscuit and cupcake, hot sauces, cured pork, strawberries and tried a hotdog. There are cheese vendors, smoked meats, pizza, baklava, and a Lebanese restaurant. The market also hosts what seems to be a culinary school. Washroom are available, so is free WiFi. Free parking for first 2 hours which is enough. Visit here if you want a from the touristy old Quebec city.

Fresh fruit and vegetables, deli meats, freshly baked goods, and delicious conserves. Upstairs are wonderful ceramics and a family cookery school. Something here for everyone

I absolutely love this market! The atmosphere is so welcoming, and everyone is incredibly friendly. You’ll find a wide variety of products, from vegetables and fruits to meats, all of which are impressively fresh. The sense of community radiates from each little kiosk, making the experience even more enjoyable. The prices are reasonable, and beyond groceries, there are charming little shops offering items like flowers, plants, candles, and more. It’s a delightful place to explore and shop!

Last minute shopping for family gifts, we bought Joe smoked meat, duck pate and geese pate, brie cheese, happy shopping but one small problem had happened with one of my friends, she used the toilet for disability and forgot her purse in there, when she came back looking for it , luckily she found her purse, her phone , her credit card and driver license still in there but all her cash gone. We are in the rush to go back Toronto (9hours of driving) and it’s almost 3pm so we just left couldn’t stayed to report to security for camera check. A little sad and disappointed but we found all the things we need to buy.✅

This place was such a fun stop on our visit to Quebec! We had an Airbnb booked so we needed some food for a few days! This was absolutely perfect! They had great meat and seafood selection, eggs, butter, cookies - everything you need for a few days of meals! Highly recommend this stop!

Nice local market place where farmers and local small businesses sell variety of food. Super clean. The produces were literally shining how much clean they were- potatoes, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, strawberries, blueberries and more. There were local bakery with in house baked fresh bred variety. Local meat producer’s shop with a good choice of hams, sausages. Another store with a vast selection of local cheese to choose from. A small pizza place, chocolatier. A good parking lot without shortage of spaces. Thumbs up for sure!

This market offers a special experience that’s different from your typical shopping trip. It’s full of interesting shops and delicious food that make it worth visiting again and again. Besides the food, the market has small shops that sell unique items like local jams, cheese and gifts you won’t find in big stores. It’s fun to explore and see what surprises you might find.

Yelp
My family came here looking for many food options to dine in, but there were very few options--mostly desserts. The swirling pastry in the middle of the market and the pizza place were very good. All the other ones we tried were mediocre.

Yelp
Lots of choices for fresh vegetables, flowers, plants, and prepared foods. I purchased a lot of maple products, honey, a delicious latte, vegetables, a gorgeous quiche, imported delicacies, and some delicious Italian arancini balls and marinara sauce that I warmed up for dinner. A market for both locals and tourists, it is much better than the old one near the port (though, to be fair, I had visited in the winter). It doesn't have the history or weathered charm of Jean-Talon in Montreal, but it has free parking, ample space, and an airy light interior. I'll be sure to go every time I visit and can't wait to see what other businesses open up to fill it to capacity.
