The Ninth

"It was a great relief – and a cause for celebration – when The Ninth reopened in 2023 after a fire. Jun Tanaka’s place may be on Charlotte Street, with its plethora of dining options, but this feels very much like a neighbourhood spot, with its two floors of closely-set tables creating a lively, busy atmosphere. The menu is immeasurably appealing and comes with more than twist of Mediterranean flavour; dishes are meant for sharing but there’s no pressure. It’s the boldness and the confidence of the cooking that impresses, with dishes that are succulent and delicious." - Michelin Inspector

Superb and good value for money. Loved all the courses from start to finish. Portion sizes were generous with good protein, vegetables, and carb calculation. Very carefully designed and measured to be a proper meal. For this reason, this restaurant would be good for special occasions, friends gathering, dates as well as a regular meal after work. Culinary skills were well displayed. The presentation was good but not pretentious. Enjoyed the timing that they paced out between the courses of the tasting menu, not rushing at any point even if it would be tempting to receive more walk-ins when they could. Fish and meat courses were genius.

Google
Good experience overall but I expected more from the price and a Michelin star. The bread and butter was good but pretty basic. Crab and seaweed tartlets were too salty to me. The cured scallops were amazing! Probably the best dish of the set. The truffle spaghetti was delicious, I would love it to be a bit more creamy but still it was great. The Dover Sole was just okay to my taste and nothing more. Iberico Pork Pluma was great - very tender and rich in flavour although the sauce was too salty. The Pain Perdu dessert felt too simple but it was delicious to me. The wine pairing was okay and I expected more. Maybe roughly two wines were really good and interesting. The service was fine overall but they did not even take our jackets. I don’t think I would be back unfortunately

Google
Great Michelin star restaurant and not pretentious. We went for the set menu and wine pairing. The highlight was the pork and pain perdu. A bit disappointed with the sole as it was not very special but overall all dishes were perfectly executed. They have a good wine selection as well. We had a great time celebrating my partner’s birthday.

Google
Went here for an anniversary recently, and got the chef's menu. The food was high quality, and ranged from good to excellent. The pork was tender and delicious, the potatoes with a spicy mayo were incredible, and the dessert was really tasty (somewhere between a bread pudding and french toast). The service was polite, however it was an incredibly hot day and we got room temp water, asked for ice, and it took about 15 mins to get that ice. Upstairs has air con, downstairs not so much. The starters and fish course were just ok, and on balance, compared to similar menus and experiences we've had at other places, I'd probably rate this as overpriced, and lacking in a particular specialty that made it stand out.

Exceptional Mediterranean dining in the heart of London! The Ninth offers a perfect combination of excellent food, attentive service, and an ideal location that makes it a standout culinary destination. Their outdoor seating area is particularly charming - I thoroughly enjoyed my meal in the sunshine, creating the perfect ambiance for a relaxing dining experience. The authentic Mediterranean dishes showcase genuine flavors and techniques, demonstrating real culinary expertise.

Google
Sunny but covered spot for lunch on a weekday! Their weekday lunch offer of 2 courses for £33 was well worth it for a quick lunch meet up. We got the crab and seaweed tartlets to start - my favorite bite of the whole meal actually. I could have had 10 of those. Then we had the pasta and the sardines. Both delicious, but the sardine toast stood out to me as the toast was perfectly crunchy against the softer salty sardine. Sadly, the mains were just alright. I'd definitely come again for the starters and I would have a lower expectation set for the mains.

Google
Another fantastic lunch at Michelin starred The Ninth. Love this place. Great, flavoursome food, well executed, complimented by friendly service. Fab buzzy dining room too. Awesome value with three courses for £38. The perfect place for a laid back lunch.

Google
Came here for set menu lunch on Sat. Overall the food was pretty good. The only problem is it’s 32 degrees and no AC or fan, many people fanning themselves with the napkin. Good food, but it’s too hot to enjoy it fully.

Yelp
Standard upscale food and atmosphere, but service was lacking and didn't have a Michelin worthy experience. 3.5 stars Food: 3.5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4 Cost to worth it rating: 3 Opentableable: yes Return worthiness: maybe Highlights: - Cabbage: charred with miso was the sleeper hit of the evening. Simple yet the miso sauce was extra delightful. 5 stars - Pain perdu: caramelized exterior with custardy exterior. Nice vanilla ice cream paired with it. Standout of the night. 5 stars - Sea bream carpaccio: fresh thin slices with a bumpy inside an orange wedge like texture to them. Enjoyed the small rounds of kumquat and green spicy pepper surrounded by a citrus flavor. 4 stars - Braised beef: tender chunk of meat that was tasty. Small amount of celeriac puree which was light and glazed carrots were crunchy with some sweetness but didn't need the mojo sauce. 3.5 stars - Lamb shoulder pasta: el dente larger pieces of pasta with the meat that was a bit salty with the chorizo added in. 3.25 stars - Early menu: 3 courses for 47-52 pounds including a glass of champagne. - Bartender: single guy hustling to take care of all drink orders--making cocktails and pouring wine. Midlights: - Cauliflower: romesco was fine but not as interesting as the other dishes. 3 stars Lowlights: - Service: hard to get the attention of the server. Time we saw her was to give us the bill. When we asked for dessert she said she needed the table back. Then it took 45 minutes for the dessert to arrive. When we asked to check up on it, she bruskly told us it takes a minute. Was good to try but with so many stellar restaurants on Charlotte street and this having a star, was expecting better and to feel welcome.

Yelp
Phenomenal experience. Everything from the exceptional service (so friendly!) to the INCREDIBLE food. Couldn't tell you what was the best thing I ate cause it was all just so deliciously and beautifully done. My friends even bought me a bottle for my 30th and the 9th staff did such a great job with presenting it to me. Love the ambiance and rawness of the decorations with the exposed brick and metals. Fantastic spot for a somewhat affordable Michelin experience. 10/10 will be back next time I'm in London!!!

Yelp
Wonderful restaurant in the heart of Londons restaurant district. A beautiful visual combination of rustic meets industrial as soon as you enter. Bistro style seating immediately creates a more relaxed Michelin atmosphere while keeping the same service and culinary excellence as the stuffiest French restaurant. The food was a lovely combination of fusion of Italian meets Asian. My favorite dish of the night was yellowtail perfectly sliced topped with thin slices of Meyer lemon, and pickled white asparagus that was shaved post pickle. The contrast between tart and sweet was perfectly balanced finished with a broken vinaigrette sat in a brodo like mixture. We also really enjoyed the Imberico pork with a variations of ramps, garlic, in an absolutely stunning pork jus. We chose to include the wine pairing which was substantial and uniquely laid out with grapes from a variety of regions throughout the globe perfectly described by our friendly Sommelier. When in London The ninth is a must for those looking for great food, welcoming staff, and beautifully curated libations

Yelp
Affordable one Michelin star experience. The signature pain perdu was delicious, with an extremely soft and milky inside with a well caramelized sugar coating. The vanilla ice cream with crumbles was nothing special, good to pair with the hot toast though. The lamb chop was well charred and super juicy & tender. However, the sweet mint & anchovy dressing on the lamb chop was not a very good pairing with the lamb, amplifying the smell, would suggest pairing it with the broccolinis. Environment was okay with mostly open air but not air conditioning. They took quite a while to cook the lamb so I finished the dessert first.

Yelp
A relatively new (5 years) restaurant in Fitzrovia that seems to be doing very well, post-Covid. A bit small, with only two dozen seats and maybe another half-dozen at the tiny bar, but this allows the competent staff easy control of the simply decorated room. I decided on a seafood meal, selecting smoked eel and panisse (chickpea cake), flamed mackerel with kohlrabi and lemon, roast cod with artichoke and more parnisse in a "fish-and-chips" display, and finishing with cheesecake with poached rhubarb. I only think that the sommelier could had been a bit more helpful with my wine selection, instead of allowing me to select just a single bottle. I really enjoy the open kitchen concept, but the building's footprint here is far too small, all the food appears via dumbwaiter behind the bar. The enthusiastic servers, the flavors of each dish, the simple, effective plating means I'll have to return. And soon. 2022 04 01. M1.

Yelp
We had a HORRIBLE experience at The Ninth - unapologetic server and management after a mistake was made. In fact they rolled their eyes and laughed when they made mistake. Didn't apologize once, we waited at the table to see if the manager came over...nothing. My husband approached him. Still nothing - he laughed and rolled his eyes again. SHOCKED this place has a Michelin star. Does not deserve it in our opinion. The server did not speak much to us, no "are you done?", "how is it?", NOTHING! She would just grab the dishes and walk away. Never came back to table to check-in. Pros: food was good, ambience was approachable, crispy potatoes and pain Perdue were outstanding Cons: unapologetic server and management after a mistake was made; truly unacceptable at a Michelin star restaurant, lukewarm entrees Would never go back or recommend to anyone. Horrible service.

Yelp
French cuisine with a Mediterranean twist that earned a Michelin star. They were closed for almost a year due to a fire but reopened earlier this month. Everything was incredible. The salted beef cheek & tongue and pain perdu (dessert) were the highlight. The spaghetti was also amazing as well. Also don't sleep on the cocktails.

Yelp
This little gem provides the perfect dinner experience in London. The plates are meant to be shared but you'll wish you didn't have to share. We tried a wide variety of items and each was beautifully prepared and delicious--with unique combos of flavor. Try the Coccoli--they are amazing, as is the Rabbit Agnolotti. Leave room for dessert--you'll thank me later. Note: they have indoor and outdoor seating, but make reservations. This restaurant has received a Michelin star. Our service was also fantastic even though they were packed

Yelp
I can't stop recommending this place. We had such an awesome time and the food was so amazing. The service was on point, they made you feel as the only one on the restaurant and everyone had a smile all the time. The combination of flavours and the attention to detail on the dishes was from another planet. They 100% deserve their Michelin star. Don't miss it!

Yelp
We had a lovely dinner, sitting at the bar with a last-minute reservation made online. I went for a medley of small plates, which each packed a beautiful composition of flavors: The beetroot tart was scrumptious, the foie gras pasta was a nice mix of surf and turf & the oyster with horse radish was very refreshing. The Pan Perdu is like soft custard on the inside, and a crispy gooey shell on the outside, a to-die-for dessert experience, glad we listened to the staff recommendation! A perfect meal for a perfect date! We can see why this place has earned a Michelin star.

Yelp
Definitely a must go place !! Ambiance Reminded me of San Francisco. Food was amazing, especially the fish.

Yelp
Went to dinner to celebrate some recent work milestones. The service was excellent and the wait staff was very helpful with selecting the right wine for our meal. The food was amazing and the small plates made for a perfect date night. To top it all off, the pain perdu was one of the best desserts I've ever had. My wife and I will certainly be coming back the next time we're in London.

Yelp
The Ninth is a great date spot in London. It has definitely earned its 1 Michelin Star. The bread & butter and orecchiette are absolutely amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
Great place for tasty, solidly presented food. Gets a little loud but upstairs with A/C is well worth it. Beef cheek, roast duck, turbot, all standouts. Desserts are also excellent, from the sorbet to the pain perdu. Also a few misses, the sashimi-ish dish we had had very little flavor, and the roast potatoes were completely ordinary. They looked right but had nothing that made them delicious on the palate compared to the rest of the meal. And in the interest of full disclosure, the pain perdu was about 4/5ths amazing and 1/5th both a little burned (yuck) and just too much food (not a bad problem to have!).

Yelp
The food at The Ninth was tremendous in quality. The sea bass was very flavorful and filling. The mussels on this dish were even better! The wine selection is good and service is helpful as well. Overall- I would definitely recommend a visit when in London.

Yelp
The Ninth was a wonderful experience for food lovers! The staff was very knowledgeable about food and the kitchen has earned it's star! We shared Babajuans, oxtail croquettes, lovely bread and butter, a beautiful Panzanella salad, ossobuco tortellini and rabbit sweet corn and truffle risotto. I had the pain Perdu for dessert- no way was I sharing that! My husband had the white peaches and almond ice ream. Each combination was brilliant, but the texture of the sourdough and pain Perdu and the flavorful Panzanella and Babajuans were unforgettable,

Yelp
The Ninth in Fitzrovia cooks overly delicious food and combines that with truly outstanding customer service. Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia is a street known for its restaurants. Now, The Ninth is one of them - and if you ask me, one you should definitely check out. The place is dimly lit and sports the trendy standard feature many openings in the past two years or so seem to share, an exposed brick wall. Fortunately, despite the trendy wall, this restaurant does not focus on being hip, instead it delivers excellent service. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a lovely girl who looked through the bookings to get me a table. I got a nice place by the window. Just for about two hours though, not a problem for me. As all the other guests, I got a brief introduction about the place. Good to know that the chef is always in, the fact that he is a "celebrity chef" was not of great concern to me, but some people might enjoy to hear that kind of thing. Soon another waitress gave me the wine list, and I was quickly sold on the Riesling trocken, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Weingut Heinrichshof, Mosel, Germany. It was a brilliant example of a well-balanced Riesling, beautifully dry with refreshingly strong mineral notes. A great white wine on its own that also was a pleasure to drink with my food. It can sometimes be confusing, when you are served by many different people over the course of a dinner. However, when all staff are very friendly and knowledgable, this is not an issue for me. I would probably go even as far as to say it was nice and fun to interact with all those different and equally professional people. I really liked the Swedish waitress who took my order, she was probably the one who I talked to most. She gave me good recommendations and helped me navigate through the menu. To kick-off my dinner, I ordered the rabbit confit lasagne. The presentation was lovely when the dish arrived in a tiny iron pan. The lasagne tasted delicious and light. The tomato sauce added more nice flavours. The grilled pitta bread with oregano and sea salt was very good, just a bit messy to eat because it was sprinkled with, I believe, olive oil. As the waitress suggested, the bread was perfect to mop up the sauce. The smoked duck breast with caramelised chicory and walnuts was a really tasty main dish. I chose two sides along with it, pommes cocotte, rosemary and confit garlic - kind of melting-in-the-mouth buttery, roasted potatoes - and beetroot tarte tatin, feta and pine nuts on spinach. The crispy skin of the duck was fabulous and the cooking juices in the pan intensified the duck flavour. I thought adding walnuts was a clever idea to give the dish a bit more crunch. The beetroot tarte tatin was a funny thing. I never had a combination of pastry and beetroot like this, and very much enjoyed it. I wanted to taste both sides, but in general, one side would definitely have been enough for me. I think it was the manager, who surprised me by knowing exactly what wine I was drinking, despite not serving my table. His behaviour confirmed what I had already noticed from talking to the other staff, that they are attentive and focused on great customer service. He also convinced me to order a red wine to go with my main. I had a very small glass of the Merlot, Les Fleurs de Montblanc, IGP Côtes de Thongue, France. It was good, however as I expected, nothing I would order again. I would rather go for another glass of the Riesling. I ended my dinner with a caramelised lemon tart, fromage frais with lemon thyme. It was a tasty and light dessert that actually was pretty nice with the Merlot, combining the fruit of the wine with the acidity of the lemon. The longer I sat at my table, the less I noticed the background music - which is a good thing. As far as a remember, they play jazzy, souly songs, easy to listen to, without distracting or getting in the way of conversations. All in all, my food was absolutely spot on, a pleasure to eat, and all of the staff were friendly, helpful and competent. I'll be back.

Yelp
There are some amazing restaurants in Fitzrovia, and The Ninth has just joined their ranks. A stylish addition to Charlotte Street, everything about The Ninth is just so aesthetically pleasing - from the choice of colour for the awning outside, to the clean, contemporary decor and the dishes themselves. Felicia, Amy and I shared several dishes between us at lunch. We'd originally decided to pop along to try the confit rabbitm but unfortunately it's only on the dinner menu, which is something to keep in mind! Luckily, there were several other items on the menu that piqued our interest - to the point where we couldn't decide and had to ask our waitress to make the choice for us. We started off with the oxtail croquettes, which were wonderful - light and crisp on the outside, with an amazingly tender filling. We chased the croquettes with several raw and cured dishes, including the flamed mackerel with dill, cucumber & capers, a sea bass carpaccio with salsa verde & pickled kohlrabi and cured pork belly served with pecorino & mustard leaf. For me personally, the pork belly didn't leave much of an impression - it was definitely outshone by the incredible seafood dishes. The piquant kohlrabi and salsa verde with the almost buttery sea bass was really delicious, and the flamed mackerel was exquisite. The salted beef cheeks served with oxtail consomme and charred cabbage was so tender that it practically melted in your mouth. Although delicious, again it was outshone by our other main dish - the whole roasted sea bream, which was served with lemon, miso and smoked aubergine. The cavolo nero with hazelnut pesto was the ideal side dish. It was perfectly seasoned, and had subtle flavours that enhanced and didn't overpower the other dishes. We also had the fricassee of Jerusalem artichokes and truffle, which was a great accompaniment to the fish plates. The girls also split an order of miniature Madeleines - adorable, freshly baked, and straight out of the oven. It was all absolutely delicious - although on the whole I think the seafood dishes are the way to go, which is rather unusual for me. The service throughout was fantastic (our waitress did a fantastic job of ordering for us!) and I'd definitely recommend The Ninth for an intimate dinner with loved ones.

Yelp
You had me at oxtail croquettes. Ordered four of them out of the gate as a "snack" and upon service, they were moneyyyyy. Crisp outside with beautifully braised, moist, perfect oxtail on the inside. Had the rabbit confit lasagna as a starter. Really nice. Great flavor! Could've used a bit more tomato sauce, but overall it was delicious. Pasta layers were cooked well and the rabbit was very tender. Over cooked rabbit can be like shoe leather. For main courses we ordered the whole sea bass and the lamb en croute. The sea bass was in a delicious broth, but the top side of the fish was not submersed in the liquid leading to a nice crispy skin. The broth had some clams in it, some cherry tomatoes and garlic. The fish meat fell of the bone and was cooked on point. The lamb en croute was superb. Puff pastry was cooked perfectly golden brown and the lamb inside couldn't have been a more perfect medium rare. The side sauce was a great consistency and really elevated the flavor of the meat which was super juicy and tender. The artichoke puree was smooth and delicious. For a side had the chargrilled tomato and yoghurt. Lots of flavor albeit a bit heavy for a vegetable side, if I'm being nitpicky. Dessert we had the strawberry meringue thing ( I can't remember exactly what it was called). It was very sweet and gooey, but the tartness of the berries really cut the sweetness nicely. Definitely bordering on the almost too sweet side (still ate the whole thing though!!). Had a couple margaritas and a cocktail called "The Ninth" from the bar. The margaritas were decent, but "The Ninth" was really well crafted. Service was great. Everyone was friendly. Crowd gave a good vibe. If you are one of those who knows they are going to a pricey restaurant and then complains about the portion sizes and blah-blah-blah just skip this place. 5-star performance to me.

Yelp
Solid modern London fare. Got a bunch of things: Starters: Oysters (meh, didn't like the fried onions on top) Scotch egg - amazing Bread and butter - the only time I've ever cited bread & butter. It was THAT good. Beef tongue tartar - good! Mains/shared plates: Risotto - solid, but not the place to get risotto Fried Gnocchi - delicious! Pickled mussels - really unique and delicious Scallops - amazing! Duck - solid, but nothing special Rabbit - really good prep (fried a bit). Cocktails were bad, get wine. Overall, would go back again, the plates are small, get a lot to share!
google avatar

Chuck W.

Yelp
This is 3 Stars only cause I really don't think this should be a Michelin star restaurant. I think this is a good, fairly normal restaurant. Some of this may be the service was very poor. He couldn't even walk us through the menu with any intelligence or offerings on how to best order for 2 from the menu. We ended up getting the pork bites snack - meh nothing special at all, any bar can serve these. The highlight for us was actually not the truffle egg yolk pasta but the rabbit risotto but even that the rabbit was overcooked. I am not saying don't go, I just don't think it lives up to others reviews or what we were expecting.

Yelp
Great cute spot! Pretty small restaurant, but was able to squeeze me in for lunch. I saw this on a list of great michelin restaurants for lunch and boy did it not disappoint! For around $30, you get to choose two courses from a 6-7 choice menu. I ordered the mussels and clam linguine and a chargrilled porkchop salad. The linguine was the best linguine I've ever had! It was a small portion, but had a good amount of seafood and flavor! The porkchop had a nice char to it and was a pretty big portion size. The salad was well balanced with pine nuts and shaved apple slices. Overall, would definitely come back here again!

Yelp
Despite the 5 star reviews I'm going to stick to my guns and say The Ninth is overrated. The food is excellent, therefore I could be immediately undermining myself, but I didn't think it warrants the high price. It has played out industrial decor with slightly average service. I may have caught them on a bad night on the service however charging £24 for a "small plate" of, whatever fish it is, takes the piss. Appreciated it's the west end but when you get 5 pieces of gnocchi and pay £8 you're getting knocked, even if it was perfectly cooked and slathered in an amazing broth. Maybe it's too good for me, but it's def not for me either way.

Yelp
Exciting that chef Jun Tanaka bring his very own restaurant to Charlotte street, The Nineth. It serves French Mediterranean style food and all for sharing. That is what dining out is all about! We started with sharing a few of the dishes from the snack section of the menu - Oxtail croquettes, Duck scotch egg, Barbajuans. Then follow on with starters King prawn macaroni, chives and ginger. My favourite was the Rabbit confit lasagna, mustard bechamel.  We also tried the Razor clam ceviche from the hot and curd section of the menu. This dish reminded me of my first dining experience at The Pearl when Jun Tanaka was still working as a chef there. It was then on to the mains and we each choice a dish to share from the fish and meat section, along with a few selection of vegetable dishes to accompany them. It was wonderful to see a range of fish dishes on the menu, especially serving them as a whole fish which make them suitable as a sharing dish. It feels like home and the word family would come to mind. We choice two fish dishes (1) Whole roast sea bream, lemon and miso, smoked aubergine (2) Roast plaice, chicken wings, shallots and beurre noisette. Each one was beautifully cooked. Whole roast quail, smoked bacon, foie gras, lardo and grapes was full of flavour and cooked just right. The grapes made a good combination with the dish and it surprisinly worked. It has inspired me on what you can do with grapes. It's more then a fruit! We tried the smoked duck breast with caramelised chicory and walnuts, which was cooked just right. To go with our fish and meat we tried a selection of vegetable dishes. The Pommes cocotte, rosemary and confit garlic was a taste of Winter, actually more like taste of Christmas. The roasemary brought fragrant to the dish and the garlic was perfectly roasted until soft. Alternative, the Honey roast winter vegetables was sweet I'm taste. We finished our meal with dessert and my favourite being the Pain Perdu served with honeycomb and vanilla ice cream. The Nineth French toast had a crispy outside with a eggy custard on the inside. Tarte Tatin served with rosemary ice cream was a sticky tart, which I felt was on the bitter side. The most interesting part of the dish was the rosemary ice cream. You have a very high chance of knowing it is rosemary as the flavour was very strong. Overall the food was beautifully cooked and the front of house all seem very informative with the menu as well as providing us with excellent service. Dining at The Nineth was like fine dining experience but on a more casual and cosy.

Yelp
Yup, not about to argue with any comments here. Really great food at not crazy prices. 3 course lunch menu for £21. Whole sweet Red mullet in tempura... Lamb breast with feta and watermelon Herb gnocci and giroles If you live/work in the area, sign up for a 15% discount.. Your taste buds will thank you.

Yelp
We had an ok experience here. The service was top-notch but the food was wholly mediocre. The highlight of the meal was the lamb dish, a roulade of sorts. Everything else was a solid 3 out of 5.

Yelp
I've always seen Jun Tanaka at Taste of London doing those "show me how to cook xyz" type things but have never had the chance to try out his food. Well, when he opens one right in Central London on Charlotte Street, no more excuses, one has to go and try it out (excuse the French use of oneself). STARTERS - King prawn marconi hot starter was decent, but nothing special. - Flamed mackerel, dill, cucumber and capers *** special mention. If you don't mind fishy tastes, this is the starter for you. The vinegarette sauce is perfected such that the fish is divine, unable to help ourselves we ordered a second portion straight away. MAINS - Spiced cod - whilst nicely cooked, we didn't like the roasted cauliflower, it was pretty hard to eat. - beef cheeks - mmmm so soft and tender, yummy. - smoked duck breast - again this is a hard meat to master but it was cooked just right, although slightly harder texture and so if you like your meat very tender this may not be for you. There is a bit of resistance to the meat. DESSERT - Pain perdu, honeycomb and vanilla ice cream *** again special mention. This is basically french toast and it was divine. Unfortunately the honeycomb was slightly burnt inside and I do not lament here because having watched Masterchef I have realised how hard it is to make the perfect honeycomb. Props for nearly getting it right though. The decor was really nice. The waitress was also very attentive. Thumbs up for good dining experience here. Food was pretty good here and I don't think you will be disappointed as the foods are of a high standard overall.

Yelp
The food is considered unique with Asian n French flavor. The duck and pork chop are our favorite. The restaurant is considered on pricey. The service is considered average. I think it's because of short stuff.

Yelp
One day, a long time ago, I watched Chef Jun Tanaka win Chopped, and I thought, 'I want to go to his restaurant.' Shortly after I moved to London, that dream came true! I was fortunate enough to go to The Ninth for a preview night before the restaurant opened and sampled a few of the dishes. The food is excellent, small plates style. I recommend the oxtail croquettes, and the pain perdu (French toast) for dessert, which tasted like creme brulee in bread form. Oh, that pain perdu. I still think about it. A lot.

Yelp
This is one of several outstanding restaurants in London. I started with the burrata, followed by the orecchiette with black truffle &egg yolks. For my main course I had the seabream fish - which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. However, the highlight for me was the desert. You must try the Pain Perdu and vanilla ice cream. It is carmelized on the outside and sponge cake-like on the inside. Truly unique and delicious! I was with some vegans and they had a delicious meal as well.

Yelp
The food is fantastic: I got the toasted fregola and butternut squash risotto with pecorino and the kale with hazelnut pesto. Th first dish tasted like mac and cheese. Reallllly yummy mac and cheese. The kale was massaged with oil so it was soft and springy, with the pesto kicking up the flavour tremendously. I was tempted by the stracciatella di bufala, pickled beetroot and walnuts but I'll save that for my next visit. Also, I highly recommend the Les Fleurs de Montblac Sauvignon Blanc on the menu. It's an absolutely excellent dry white.

Yelp
Charlotte Street has become a really great place to eat, and The Ninth is the perfect example of that. I really like the small plates sharing concept, because you can try so many different dishes without getting too full. I came with 2 friends and we ordered 7 starter size dishes (they have larger size dishes too, but if you opt for those, then it would be hard to try so many things). Everything was actually the perfect size to share between three people. From the starters, we got the oxtail croquettes, which came with a wasabi mayo. I would highly recommend them. From the salads, we got the burrata, which to be fair isn't much of a salad, and the rabbit with smoked bacon. All of the pastas were some type of tortellini / ravioli, and we went for the ossobucco tortellini and the rabbit agnolotti (too hard to choose!), both of which were great, but the ossobucco was my favourite. Of the raw and cured section, we got the salted beef cheek, which didn't taste raw or cured at all. It was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Finally, from the fish section, we got the scallops with gnocchi and mussels in starter size. Everything was excellent and I'm sure there are many other fine dishes on that menu. To drink we shared a bottle of Chianti, which went well with what I thought was a fairly Italian-inspired menu. And for all that, the damage was under £50 each for a stellar Michelin star meal.

Yelp
I just love this place. Went twice in Three days once for lunch and dinner. The food was excellent and the service was impeccable. The atmosphere was very nicely laid back yet stylish and in one of the nicest neighborhoods in london. Great for going with friends or anytime really. Also check out the pain perdu. I'm not a big dessert person because they're often disappointing but this was exceptional and I'm glad my friend ordered it.

Yelp
Food was excellent. However service and facilities are required a substantial improvement . We had to wait our first course 1.15 min. We ordered fresh mint tea with our dessert and had to eat dessert without tea, because it took 35 min to make it. The tea itself was a great disappointment. plain, nor true mint flavour, water had some strange chemical taste. But your ladies toilet is one big shame. I have never seen broken tap and no proper running water in any top end restaurant . In a simple conner fish&chips yes, but in the restaurant , where you will spend 80 -100 pounds per person for a dinner, what a disrespect to your clients.

Yelp
Beautiful looking food and great ingredients but the butter is used everywhere and is very strong smelling. Had beetroot tarte tatin and could not taste any of the topings because of the butter smell in the pastry. Similar with Tarte tatin but maybe by this point i had the taste in my mouth and everything just tasted like butter. All other foods were also a bit too oily. But decor is nice, ambience great and service very good.
