The Nosh Box

Nosh Box is a total gem in SOMA. I ducked in for a quick coffee while I was in the neighborhood and immediately got pulled in by how thoughtful the menu is. You can tell they care—about the food and about the people they’re serving. Friendly staff, genuinely welcoming vibe, and the food punches way above its weight. In Michelin terms: definitely “worth a detour” in my book, and honestly probably “worth a journey” (at least from Marin). I liked it so much I went back a couple days later just to try more. They make everything in-house from scratch, and they have a bookshelf packed with cookbooks—some signed by the chefs—is a tell you’re about to eat something legit. Highlights: • Baked Feta with house-made focaccia: hot, bubbling, full of flavor, and absolutely covered in herbs, seeds, and spices. • Carrot cake (excellent). • Bearrs lime curd bar: more please. • Cinnamon walnut ginger sour cream coffee cake: generously portioned and so good. • Burnt orange + butterscotch latte: not too sweet, complex, rich. I normally take my coffee Black, but I had to try this and was richly rewarded. If you’re anywhere nearby, go. If you’re not, it’s still worth making the trip.

Tomato sandwich goes so hard….incredibly juicy and perfectly seasoned. Hard to eat in the best way, I was deliriously slurping. Seasonal pastry (fig & cream cheese) was delicious too! My iced matcha was perfect. I believe the owners helped me and they were so incredibly warm and welcoming! Spots like this are so hard to come by. It’s authentically local and so SOMA. If you find yourself walking Folsom, I cannot recommend Nosh Box enough!

This gem of a place popped into the neighbourhood and I can't get enough! Although the menu isn't expansive, the quality is through the roof! From their coffee and tea, to their breakfast sandwich, pastries, and quiche! You definitely won't regret checking this place out!

Cute coffee shop in the heart of SoMa with friendly staff. Great place to get coffee and homemade treats -- definitely get your scone "dressed" (toasted with butter and house-made jam). On my last visit the scones had a crunchy amaretti topping that paired great with the fresh peach jam inside. Owner was very nice & let me keep my things there while I ran a local errand. Look forward to trying more of their evening food program.

Highly recommend coming to The Nosh Box, such a warm and welcoming environment. Edwin and the other person (I didnt catch their name 😞) were so friendly and kind, they made me feel so welcomed. I had the Tonka latte, well 2, and the breakfast sandwich. Everything was delicious, i wish I could try every single thing they offer. The marmalades, jams and jellies looked exceptional. If I weren’t traveling I would have definitely bought some, wish they had a sample size to take with me back home. Will definitely be back when visiting and recommendiing to all my friends!

Def a hidden gem in Soma! Best brunch I’ve had, better than most of the overrated spots in town. They crafted their food with seasonal & local ingredients which I rly appreciate. I came in two days in a row and tried the blueberry ricotta toast and the green egg. Both were amazing.

Great service, great food, great coffee. Got a gluten free breakfast sandwich, they subbed the bread for a bed of arugula. Delicious!

Worth the hype! Felt like living in bougie LA with their beautiful delicate brunch items. Home made sour dough. Peach from a farm up north. Heirloom tomato. Omg! I want this place to live forever.

So much care and coziness at the Nosh Box, I'm glad we finally popped in to see Stephen before Bearrison. Chonky slices of tomato, lovingly swirled in mayo, it was a messy bite of the best bits of summer, right before tomato season ended. The peach toast was a great follow-up, tucked into a bed of mascarpone (maybe ricotta?), zhug oiled and spiced. I could definitely have one of these for breakfast every day. The fig leaf latte had me musing about gathering young leaves to make our own syrup, maybe next year... Cheery walls, warm service, and a cucuzza longboi squash to marvel at, what more do you need? Will try to catch a queer soup night soon!

Cool local spot. The Peach Toast which is whipped ricotta, Masumoto Gold Dust peach, and Zhug oil, was spicy and sweet. The peaches were perfectly ripe and soft. Probably just my uncultured side, but I've not had anything like Zhug oil before. After looking it up, I learned it's a spicy condiment from Yemen that traditionally is made with hot peppers, garlic and coriander. It's pretty spicy, but still manageable. Inside is a vibe. Has an indie, artsy feel

One of the best ciders I've ever had in my life! Creamy yet not too sweet and the havdalah spices gave it a kick but wasn't too spicy. Super yummy quiche and carrot cake, service was phenomenal and I felt very welcomed. Such a cute cozy lil spot and pretty spacious. Dog friendly. Would definitely come back when I'm in those parts :) wish they were in my hood!

Best coffee shop and bakery in the area. They make a perfect cortado, and don't sleep on the Tonka Latte. ALL of their food is AMAZING as well!! And their homemade jams to take home are the best too.

I attended an after hours Queer Soup Night at The Nosh Box, benefitting TACT, and everything was amazing! The 3 soups, an egg drop soup, matzah ball soup, and vegan white bean soup were all absolutely delicious! Nosh Box owners Stephen and Edwin were cheerful and welcoming. There were lots of wine offerings, and my mouth was watering looking at the baked sweets. The space is open and homey, offering places to sit or stand while eating soup and drinking coffee, wine, cider or water, and it did fill up, but did not feel overcrowded. There was a sign on the wall listing a variety of fun after hours events. I highly recommend The Nosh Box and I'll definitely go back and bring my friends!

I have a few go to in my neighborhood, for coffee and snacks, but the Nosh Box is really taking it to another level. Super friendly owners, great service, great coffee, and amazing house made food. Their carrot cake is off the charts, and I'm slowly getting through the breakfasts which have all been Amazing.

Delicious and interesting!! The cafe itself is so pretty, and the amazing servers make it feel very homely. Really interesting peach toast, spicy with ricotta and olive oil. I loved it! Also a very well balanced lavender matcha, if not a little small. Overall, gorgeous cafe, good people, interesting food!!

My daughter strongly suggested we stop by as it is a favorite for her. We were blown away by the flavors and the variety. We ordered a bunch of food and coffee and then. Went back and ordered more. Staff is very friendly and approachable. The ambience is a great. I'm very impressed and now a big fan. Gonna be here every time im in town.

Cardamom chocolate chip cookie was delicious albeit pricey for $5. But the cappuccino was completely cold.

What an oasis on Folsom Street a class act, spacious, warm and inviting. The staff and owners are appreciative and welcoming, easy to chat with and always happy to explain things I ordered a latte with one of their special sweeteners which they can't remember but they also have another that's in lavender. I also went for the avocado toast in Boy. This is a very meaty avocado toast. I was curious about the white bean foundation of it, but it actually played well with all the additional oregano and spices they put on the toast. It was definitely meaty in the sense that you get half of an avocado and it was to perfection on a very good base of Artisan bread. They have so much on offer here and they do rotate and have special items that I can't even begin as I kind of followed this place as it begin as a pop-up so they do have a great assortment of pastries I believe of savory and sweet and I also overheard they have quiche. I wanted to drop by as I had time during the day, but it is a central location and not too far for a walk the decoration the location the decor is surrounded by lots of restaurants for a morning destination. This is one of a kind. I do recommend it, and I will be coming back more and more.

Pretty cool spot, hipster vibes. Went during brunch hours and had their blood orange juice and while it was pricey for the serving size, it was radio good. My buddy had some food and also coffee and he enjoyed it as well. The service was quite good too.

A new eatery has opened in the western SoMa 'hood -- The Nosh Box. So, of course, we had to try it out. All the pastries are lovingly made from scratch, served by the bakers/owners themselves. Their produce is fresh and locally sourced. Our home brunch totalled about $40. We're still debating if that price tag is the 'new norm' or still qualifies as a splurge. Everything we sampled was tasty. My partner rates the cookie as his favorite today; my vote goes for the heirloom tomato sando.

Amazing spot! Great coffee, delicious pastries, and the best tomato sandwich around--which is next level thanks to the incredible bread they use. The vibe is warm and welcoming, and the staff is always super friendly and greets you with a smile. Plus, the place is spotless. Highly recommend!

The people were really nice but the food was very expensive and the matcha tasted like pure oat milk

Dropped in yesterday to try out the new place. One thing that surprised me: their online menu appeared to be mostly on the sweet side (cookies, scones, etc.) but when I was there in person they also had a variety of savory options. I tried the avocado toast (awesome!), spanish tortilla (quite nice), and the fig toast (amazing!). It was all quite delicious. After those three items, I was quite full. I look forward to going back to try the rest of the menu.

I love the nosh box. Edwin and Stephen (+ staff) they're all very personable which is a plus. The inside is cozy, all the baked good are yummy! My favorite drink at the nosh box is the tonka iced latte. this place has a chill/community vibe. I highly recommend it!

I love when the spot you visited because you had to kill time ends up being the best reward cause The Nosh Box was that for me! I was attending a gallery opening at the SOMArts and unfortunately it got pushed back and so I needed to kill some time and wanted coffee cause yes, i drink and love coffee in the evening and when I saw this spot on the maps i was taken back. Haven't heard of it, open until 10pm, serves coffee and food! well, when I got there, I saw a really good menu of different options and as I was blown away, reading it and sending it to my friend on what she was missing out, Edwin popped out and was just the most warmest, kindest human who let me know if i have any questions to let him know. And that was it. i went in and such a cute spacious spot if you got work to do or hw. I wish I could tell you the coffee was great and I'm sure it is, i just ended up ordering things like a nonalcoholic spritz that was so good and a nice placebo with a very San Francisco like grilled cheese haha Edwin made all the good recommendations and the right affirmations. I spent all my time there just texting my other friends there of how we're gonna have to come back here...cause i still need to try the coffee!

So happy to have this incredible spot just a block from my house! Stephen and Edwin have gone out of their way to make this a neighborhood oasis. My favorites: Banana Muffin Peach Upside Down Cake Peach Toast Every time I go in there is a wonderful collection of neighborhood folks. Thanks for this special space.

Great food, cool and relaxing space! Nothing not to love. Very kind and accommodating staff. Fun food and drink choices too including a delicious lavender matcha. Yum!

The Nosh Box is a neighborhood gem! Stopped by on a Friday night with two girlfriends before a show at August Hall and had the perfect assortment of good wine, terrific food (sandwiches on home-made focaccia!), and lovely conversation with the two owners. As a night owl, I was also very pleased to learn that they serve coffee drinks until close. Can't wait to come back again.

I think their Tonka latte is the best off their menu. They make all their snacks and meals in house so it always smell amazing in here, and a lot of comfortable seating too. Owner and workers are friendly and won't hesitate to help you understand the menu. Also oat milk isn't a $1 extra

My new local spot! Loved the new bakery and coffeehouse. Excellent beans and a gluten free option with seasonal fig. The wait is over and glad they are part of the neighborhood. Staff was friendly and welcoming

Came here with a friend a week or so ago, and I loved it right away!!! First of all pink is my FAVE color and walking in it was like this place was made for me with all the pink aesthetic also the staff was SOOOOOO friendly and warm, and the pastries and beverages were absolutely TO DIE FOR!!!!!!! I'll 100% be back!!!! And it's super nice cuz it's less than a 5 min walk from my building!!!!

Great, local, queer-centric space in the heart of SoMa. I came on a Friday evening for some wine, and ended up also trying several items on the food menu and they were all fantastic. Particularly keen on the beet salad and the sweet potato labneh sandwich - though the menu switches up regularly to align with what's in season. The owner is incredibly passionate about food systems, agriculture, and sustainability and you can really feel it in the quality of the food. I look forward to coming back for some coffee and pastries. Definitely recommend!

I really wanted to like this place because a new addition to the neighborhood is always a plus but in comparison to the other fantastic cafes in the neighborhood this cafe is lackluster (Dento, Sightglass etc.). I will give it to them their staff is very kind and welcoming, but there is much to improve. The coffee is inconsistent half of the time it's good half of the it's either cold or way to hot, their is no WiFi (they have a wifi but it's only for the staff I presume), I can't speak on the pastry's but overall their food is not great. The salad I had was soggy and old it tasted like it was sitting in the fridge for a few days probably due to a lack of turnover. 11$ for a salad that is inedible is quite especially since I can get a great fresh sandwich for that price at Dento, And for the ambiance I have seen what a great place it could've been, it used to be a great and classy wine bar in that location called sluts but it seems like they've butchered it and have made the space cluttered.
