I’ve been coming to OMB since 2016, and it’s still my forever go-to brewery in Charlotte! The ambience is unbeatable, with spacious outdoor seating, great music, and a relaxed vibe that’s perfect for hanging out with friends. It’s also surprisingly family-friendly — plenty of open space and a welcoming atmosphere for all ages. Whether it’s a sunny afternoon or a cool evening, OMB always delivers a great experience. If “Friends” had their Central Perk coffee shop, this is mine. After nearly a decade of visits, it’s safe to say OMB will always be my favorite spot in Charlotte.

I’ve been here twice now for two events the brewery has hosted! Both times were so fun!! The outdoor atmosphere is so nice with so many places to sit. Tried some food today and really enjoyed it! I got the Turkey BLT—so so good would definitely get again. I mac and cheese was okay but didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the meal as a whole at all. My boyfriend the smash burger—he thought it tasted good (a little mustard heavy though). He also ordered the Mecktoberfest Special Beer which was great! I can’t wait until there’s another event here to come back again!

Fantastic spot for German-style beer and comfort food! I loved the fresh Copper Altbier and bratwurst, enjoyed the huge shaded biergarten, and appreciated the family- and dog-friendly layout. Friendly staff, live music, clean and peaceful. Perfect for a casual day or festive night out.

Google
Great beer garden! It’s huge with plenty of space to sit and relax. The atmosphere is awesome — lively but also really comfortable. The beer was delicious, and they offer a smaller food menu just for the beer garden called the Garten’ Grille menu. I really enjoyed the doner kebab and the jumbo pretzel was perfect for sharing among three people. Highly recommend checking it out! 🍻

Google
Mainly here for the atmosphere, DAVE’S post birthday party, trivia night and we won 1st place. First time here was for a kids birthday party. She turned all of ONE YEARS OLD, but a true testament of just what to expect or not. Great experience each time, FUN TIMES!!! Food was good also! Typical bar food, but I’m picky so don’t mind me on this. The layout of this place is AMAZING, & so was the sunset!

Google
Having previously visited the Ballantyne location, I approached this establishment with similar expectations. The layout, particularly the outdoor area, presents a commendable design. My order consisted of the doner kebab bowl, modified to exclude spicy chili sauce and tomato and cucumber salad due to personal dietary restrictions (tomato). The resulting dish was exceptionally well-prepared. The server, whose name I unfortunately did not retain, provided attentive and accommodating service. I had intended to document the garden and exterior through video recording, but the file was inadvertently deleted. Overall, the experience was highly positive. *Please note that the monthly features are not available on the weekends.*

We love OMB and from the moment we moved to Charlotte we knew it would be a place we'd frequent. It was a no-brainer having our wedding reception here in May 2025. I have all great things to say about this location and the staff. Our point of contact was Emily, and throughout the entire process she was nothing short of AMAZING. She was always accessible, had great suggestions and ideas and was accommodating to our needs. We had a private tasting to decide on our menu, and they made sure to make us feel special with personalized signs and private seating. And let me just say, the food was OUTSTANDING! My husband and I had a hard time deciding, and all our guests sang praise to the taste. And the dedicated team to our day was so sweet! It was an amazing day, thank you all for making our day be that much more special! We are very grateful ❤️ The Cruzes

Ex-Grand Rapids, MI beer snob here? Actually was never much a beer fan at all until traveling to Germany and Japan. So, we go to OMB one night while in town for the George Straight concert just to get out…maybe it will be nice, right? This place ROCKS! The Biergarten was so huge and such a great atmosphere and the beer was absolutely killer! I suppose its age should be indicative of that! I’m not sure if I had a porter or a stout (see short glass in pics)…but…one of the BEST dark beers I have ever had (included: UK, Germany, Italy, and Japan). I am looking and cannot find it online and I want to try it again! Bonus: service was very sweet and entertainment so fun. Hope to be back again some day! :)

Yelp
My husband got the Reuben sandwich I had the German style sausage. Both are great. Only one type of dark beer. Great service from Kris Very nice ambiance indoor and huge outdoor biergarten!!!

Yelp
Great to see OMB's new airport biergarten is finally open. Located in concourse D, OMB has a large bar and a big seating area. Very open and modern, while keeping the OMB signature look. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and kept me with a full glass while I waited for my flight. They have 8-10 taps and a moderate food menu. I didn't have food on this visit, but I the menu looked like an abbreviated version of their standard restaurant menu. I had a Copper and a Mecktoberfest. The beer, as always, was terrific.

Yelp
A quick Saturday afternoon lunch at a tried and true brewery was exactly what we expected. Delicious burgers, thick fries, good drinks, outside seating, music, and families playing corn hole nearby. We were seated immediately, the food arrived quickly, and the waitress was extremely personable. Excellent experience overall.

Yelp
Excellent biergarten - great hangout with friends, it's family-friendly and dog-friendly. Beers on tap were All excellent, especially their seasonals...loved that they have a well-rounded variety. Prices are very reasonable and they have beer for purchase to go - prices are also super reasonable. Lots of great outdoor space for lounging and listen to the bands playing there.

Yelp
OMB has a nice chill brewery vibe. Each time I've been there, I've sat outside. They have brunch on the weekends. I had the chicken and French toast which was very good. When you go, you order at the bar and then they'll text you when the food is ready.

Yelp
Street parking was a pain but awesome place. Came at 9pm at night and the atmosphere was awesome. Personable staff delicious burgers, and really authentic beer and brats. Would return.

Yelp
This German brewery, complete with spacious beer garden and indoor area is a Charlotte staple. People come to OMB (Olde Mecklenburg Brewery) for the beer and are surprised by how great the food is. Things to note: -This is an excellent venue to come with large groups as it's open seating outside with plenty of room to host -Great for hosting events indoors -During the holidays, that have Christmas markets. -Located in LoSo near several other breweries, it's a nice location to gather and bar hop.

Yelp
This a great spot to relax with friends after work! The French 704 was really good and they also have a blueberry lemon cider that is worth trying! I enjoyed my food as well as u ordered the monthly special! And the service was also really good as our server was very friendly. I definitely recommend this place for a chill dinner and drink with friends.

Yelp
They are good at what they do, I just don't know that there style of beer is my favorite. My personal preferences shouldn't knock a star off though. These guys have been Charlotte staples for quite some time and I'd go hang out at this beautiful venue even if they didn't serve beer! It's a great place to go hangout on a nice day. The food is worth going alone, even if you aren't a beer drinker. I do like the pilsner, but a lot of these German style beers just don't do it for me. Go, check it out, thank me later!

Yelp
What a rude experience. Server could not have been more disingenuous and in the wrong line of work. We had a 2 hour stopover in CLT, food "looked" good, sadly she didn't like that we weren't ordering a plethora of food and drinks. We sat there for an hour, folks next to us were shocked that our food took so long. They then began to inform us that the food was mediocre at best, knock wurst was dry and no flavor, fries were cooked in old grease. So I am going to recommend one of the other 100 restaurants in the airport and just avoid this one.

Yelp
Love a place that has a solid Hefeweizen and OMB did not disappoint. So refreshing on such a muggy Carolina afternoon. The food was excellent. We had a party of 4 and not one dish was anything short of delicious(or leftover ) Currywurst- phenomenal (pictured) and would order it again. I opted for the regular bratwurst and the jalapeño cheddar bratwurst. However, I would stick with the regular brat next time Jagersnitzel- very good with beans and potato salad German-Style- bratwurst with sauerkraut and a roll (very good) Cheese Pizza- I know, not German but I have a picky eater in the family All in all you won't be disappointed with the food, service or the ambiance. Can't wait to come back in the fall for Mecktoberfest

Yelp
Charlotte's oldest brewery and one of the largest. They have a pub along with a huge beer garden. Fun place to visit with a combination of Southern hospitality and German brewing. It was not too crowded on a Sunday night so there was no problem with seating. Tried their Captain Jack Pilsner. A light lager ..4.8 ABV. Also tried their 2 sausage sampler that came with potato salad, sauerkraut and a brotchen roll. We sampled the Krakow sausage which was like a Polish and Weisswurst which was a light German style sausage. Platter is big enough to share. Plenty of parking. Definitely worth a stop when in Charlotte.

Yelp
Ambiance was great and music but beyond mad about my drinks. Never told us there was lemon in the tonic we bought a double shot when I said please remake it he made it with a single shot we didn't drink the first one since I don't like lemon in it!!!! So I went back n said make me double charge me for 1 shot because he remade last time incorrectly with 1 shot so we are owed a double at single charge! Never again guess they have no idea how to make a drink and make it right....,

Yelp
Huge German-style beer garden with an excellent selection of authentic German beers. Big menu with lots of choices - honestly it was hard to decide. Staff was very friendly and be aware, they have a temporary parking lot around back at the moment.

Yelp
Old Mecklenburg brewery is a great family and dog friendly place to try. They just celebrated their 15th anniversary which I attended and had a great time. They offered a limited Edition anniversary stein (for purchase) which allows you to have $5.00 refills for the rest of 2024(not including fat boy beer). What a heck of a deal! They even pass out free samples of their new anniversary beer! They had free music (multiple artists throughout the day) and their food options typically satisfy Most individuals. There is plenty of seating on long table benches, the place is quick large and can accommodate lots of people without feeling over crowded. There is a section that caters more to families and you are able to bring pets. They have fire pits also should the weather require it and their washrooms are well kept. Definitely a go to place.

Yelp
Pretty good beer, great environment inside and out. The German food itself was okay, not the best, not the wurst [see what I did there?]. Had dinner on a Tue night. I was surprised to see Weisswurst on the menu. Chose to get the Teller plate with 2 sausages, German potato salad, and red cabbage (instead of sauerkraut). The Weisswurst was serviceable, but not the greatest. But I give them high marks for having it. Might be better poached, or poached not quite as long. The potato salad was odd since they gave me two varieties; one warm, the other cold. I found the warmer one more appealing but the cold one more authentic. The red cabbage is never a favorite but it was ok and I knew it was a better choice for me than sauerkraut. It was plenty of food and the Hornet's Nest hefeweizen was good. Service was fine. I did like the atmosphere inside and outside. I'm told by my fellow diner it's more of a bar with food than a German restaurant. Really, they have all they need but they could cull the menu of the odder bits - like birria tacos - and add a few German standards. Up the execution a bit and OMB would be a fun place to go often. 3.4 rounds down to 3.

Yelp
I came here on the day before St Patrick's day so they were serving a modified menu for Reuben Fest. I happen to like Reubens so I dove right in and tried the Reuben egg rolls, Reuben pierogis and the Reuben calzone. Why not, when in Rome right? The pierogis had a lot of potato and a little corned beef flavor, not amazing but not terrible. Next the Reuben egg rolls were quite flavorful and fresh out of the deep fryer, delicious. And last the Reuben calzone had a crust that tasted like a freshly made pizza crust, oh my lord it was amazing! This place is huge! The dining inside has long tables and we shared ours with another group of people that we hadn't met before. The outside courtyard had similar tables that reminded me of Octoberfest. More tents and walkup windows for beer and other treats were spread throughout. I was already full before venturing out there or I would have tried more options. Definitely a locals favorite spot to eat, drink and play games.

Yelp
The food and outdoor seating area were great! It's a nice place to meet up with friends, as there is background noise that is not too loud but makes the place feel very cozy. We got the Zack's Special Burg (two 100% ground beef patties with double American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, mayonnaise, special sauce, on a toasted bun), which we really enjoyed. The fries that came with it had the perfect consistency (crispy out the outside, soft on the inside) with lots of flavor. Their ranch was also really good; highly recommend. Hannah, who was working at the bar, was very sweet and helpful as she helped me pick out a drink. I ended up choosing the Hornets Nest, which had a prevalent note of banana that paired well with the taste of the beer. Makes sense why this one is award-winning!

Yelp
Great place for sports watching, big groups and if your just looking for a casual place with beer and bar food. Loved the big space it occupies, huge outdoor seating with tvs, and food kiosks. Inside there are 2 levels both have bars and you can order food, planet of tvs inside. The service tends to be scattered. Food choices are pretty much what you'd expect. Burgers, sandwiches and wings. They do have a lot of beer choices obviously. Not much options for non beer drinkers. Some basics. Few cocktails. I wasn't too impressed with my whiskey smash. Was just ok so I sipped on it the whole time. They have a few wine options. Generally though I'm thinking your a Beer drinker if you're coming here! I'd come back just in a group as I loved the space and stick with bubbly next time ! Their pretzel is really good and comes with cheese and mustard. Burgers and Reuben's were all given a thumbs up. Their fries were good, the double battered kind. Enjoyed that mushroom sauce!! This place is already doing great. I'm sure as word gets out this summer it will be packed. I know this area probably loves that it has a big brewery now!

Yelp
OMB has been a staple on our social calendar for years! We love the beer and atmosphere here. I have only eaten here a couple of times and the food is good, typical German fare. I tried currywurst for the first time and it was quite tasty! I also love their pretzels and beer cheese, yum! Most recently, we attended the annual Christmas market and absolutely loved everything about it! The outdoor area was beautifully lit with tons of Christmas lights which totally set the mood. The market itself was very organized and even included a map of the vendors which I appreciated. There was plenty of vendor variety which made it so easy to find a few last minute gifts! Each year, they do 4 weekends and each weekend features different vendors. Check back next year and mark your calendars!

Yelp
You can never go wrong with $0.75 wing night at Olde Mecklenburg Brewery! The service is excellent, the staff are friendly and the food is fast and tasty. This time, I had the smoked dry rub, a little spicy or peppery for my liking for so good overall. About 5 months ago, we sat outside with a group of 39 people, and we ordered all the flavors offered, and the tangy teriyaki was by far a fan favorite. The cool thing is that we had our food in less than 25 minutes, which was pretty impressive for such a large group! Whether you're sitting inside or out is a great space, and I love how they can accommodate large groups easily! *** BRING BACK THE TERIYAKI

Yelp
Very nice biergarten and craft beer hall. Surprisingly big, it sits on a few acres of land over on Yancey Street in a neighborhood filled with beer gardens. The best thing about this beer hall and what separates it from some of the competition is its food menu ... so many places have nice craft beers but nothing to nosh on. Of course being a beer hall they have some wonderful beer selections, most on a seasonal rotation. For others they also have an extensive cocktail list ... with a full bar, they can pretty much make anything you want. We started with a jumbo Bavarian style pretzel with dips ... a 3 star offering with a bit too much salt and not enough crunchy crust. For mains, three in our party tried the sausage, two German style and one American style ... one in our party had the jalapeño cheddar brat (3 star nice taste and reasonable snap on the skin), one had bratwurst (4 star taste and best of the three), and one had gyulai (2 star nice taste but awfully tough skin). The last in our party had the pork schnitzel (5 stars and the hit of the afternoon). This is a great place for a sip and a snack. Great for groups as they can seat hundreds, and they have multiple rooms that can be reserved for special events and parties. Outdoors they can seat hundreds more in a huge garden. We've heard this place fills on weekends, so parking will be a problem until they finish their new lot. Service even with all the seating was nice. Tours of the attached brewery are also available. Give this place a try ...

Yelp
Great beer. This is a super place to enjoy a brew in an atmosphere like a Belgian beer garden. They brew som award winning beers and have a great enjoyable indoor and outdoor facility.

Yelp
Was in Charlotte for work and stopped in for dinner and a beer with my family. It was great ambiance and we enjoyed seeing everyone's dogs- we didn't have one with us of our own but it's cute how pet friendly it is. Only complaint was the service was on the slower side and our table was never bussed the whole meal which we would have appreciated. But it is a beer garden (We were in the table service area though) either way- I enjoyed my time here. I tried a light beer (Pilsner?) and the blackberry cider- we really loved the ciders here. It is a local institution I hear, and I understand the appeal. If I was a local I could see myself hanging out here for sure. If I was a beer snob, I could also see the appeal - I, however, am super basic when it comes to beer so I will stick to the ciders! Overall, if you're visiting Charlotte come on down to OMB and check it out! It was one of the best parts of my visit.

Yelp
Popped into this brewery during a visit to Charlotte and it did not disappoint! Good beer selections, beautiful Biergarten outside under twinkling lights as great service with a smile. We only had fries, curry wurst and bratwurst, but everything was delish!
google avatar

Annette M.

Yelp
No visit to Charlotte is complete without a visit to the oldest brewery in town. We sat outside in the beer garden at a picnic table. This is a dog friendly brewery and Scout got a lot of attention. From the big mugs of beer to the wurst sampler platter the atmosphere took me back to Octoberfest in Munich.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is huge! I had a sampler on my way through NC so I didn't really eat anything. But I loved the venue wide open courtyards with outside seating huge fire pits. It was really amazing. The service was great as it was not peak time, definitely want to come back with good company and get the full experience. The beer sampler was really good tho.
google avatar

Jennie N.

Yelp
I just had oral surgery. But I couldn't resist. The Carne Asada Fries WAS AMAZING!! It was packed with a lot of topping and surprisingly the steak wasn't dry nor chewy! The only downside was I had to share it with my husband. YOU DO NOT WANT TO SHARE IT. Other than that the outdoor space was very spacious and shady! Great if you hate baking in the sun. And the service was super fast but you do order at the counter! Lines weren't long. I definitely would love to come out to this place at night when the lights and fire are out!

Yelp
Fantastic atmosphere. Very much reminds me of a German pub. My favorite beer is the Dunkel. One of my top 5 beers all time. So good. The food is great - authentic German fare. For apps - We got the pretzel - which was amazing and the Hornets Nest Wings. Very tasty. I got the pork schnitzel and my wife got the Reuben. Both were fantastic. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The Zack special is absolutely the best!!!! Beer selection is good with constant quality. Nice beer garden but today is too hot to enjoy it. Seat yourself and our server was quick to see us provide menus and suggestions. Nice beer house vibe playing progressive tunes. If you live in or are visiting Charlotte be certain to visit

Yelp
Came here with friends. We ended up celebrating a friend birthday. The food was decent. Some people felt the food was lacking some flavor. The place is huge. It can definitely accommodate large parties inside and out. They had live music going on outside. I would recommend this place to friends and family.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday afternoon to sit outside and enjoy some snacks and beer. We were greeted quickly by a nice waitress and placed our drink and appetizer orders. The place is HUGE and we enjoyed the atmosphere. Service was overall okay but we did have some trouble getting refills on water and soda. We were a bit disappointed that they only had one dark beer on the menu but we did enjoy the porter. Our waitress had only told us about the beer and wine menu but she didn't mention they had a full bar! We found our later seeing others bringing cocktails out from the inside bar and were able to walk up and grab a drink from there. We ordered the jumbo pretzel, reuben egg rolls, and carne asada fries to share. The pretzel was decent but the bier cheese was pretty mellow in flavor. Loved the reuben egg rolls and sauce! The carne asada fries fell flat for us. For $17 it was such a TINY portion with waffle fries and just a few pieces of meat (and this was an entree!). Overall nice place and I'd definitely return to try some more of their food options.

Cat M.

Yelp
Smells unclean, servers are not professional. I was going to eat here, but the "slanky bar towel in a tub of dirty water" smell really made me skeptical. Oh and $20 for a mediocre glass of wine didn't help, but I guess that's just how it is in airports now.
google avatar

Christine T.

Yelp
Outside seating for families with pets, with areas for kids to play and cna order beer only with the outside bar. Covered outdoor seating and inside able to order assorted beers , few cocktails and food. The portions are huge for the salad , we also got the carne asada fries which is also great ( maybe smaller cut for the steaks ) but definitely the sausage sampler is a must.

Yelp
Must try: Flight of Beer (Copper is my fav) and all their food like Carne Asada Fries! Why: Great beer. Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Always a great time! I usually drink a Copper, but since they had some new seasonal beers I decided to get a flight. I liked the Munzler's Vienna Lager. I usually order the pretzel or sandwiches (Pulled Pork and Hot Honey Fried Chicken are delish), but decided on Carne Asada Fries that were recommended by staff, and it did not disappoint! They used waffle fries and thick chunks of marinated steak slices. They also load up on chimichurri, pico de gallo, queso, avocado and jalapeños. Yum! Notes: Great spacious location with tons of indoor and outdoor seating. Also a bar area with high tops. They have private rooms for parties too. Staff was friendly, funny, and helpful. Clean bathrooms too. When I lived in Charlotte, this was a great place to take my dog, enjoy a refreshing beer, and chill. They have live music and games outdoors too. An iconic Charlotte experience.

Yelp
Saturday afternoon visit- cool looking and very big. What we liked: * Immediate seating * looks cool * service was prompt * Beer was cold What could be better * Had better pretzels at bowling alleys * Beer cheese was nothing special * while service was prompt it was very robotic. We were going to have lunch here but based on the appetizer we decided to go somewhere else.

Yelp
We went to OMB tonight because I heard on the news that Zack's burgers were there Monday - Friday. I was craving a burger and Zack's did the trick! A double patty and double cheese grilled with lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo, and a special sauce. A side of fries and a pint of Bock made it perfect. Why I didn't take a picture? I think I was too hungry and forgot! It was super. I recommend you try it if you are a burger fan. OMB is a great place for a large gathering. Whether planned or impromptu, this is the place to do it. You will not be disappointed.

Great atmosphere and service! The waitress was knowledgeable and very pleasant. The food came out quickly and was very good. With the exception of The German potato salad was very disappointing the potatoes were still pretty hard and the salad was flavorless.

Yelp
First visit for the Christmas Market. Inside and outside seating. Table side service inside or counter service to bring outside. I had the Jingle Juice and the Prosecco was flat. Mulled wine was a much better choice $9.99 for mug and first drink, $8.95 for refill. My husband enjoyed his choice of a Dunkel . Two large fire pits were lit during the day. Many outside vendors. Drinks and food available outside.

Yelp
This place is massive, and it can get packed. This review is from a Monday night. It was a slow night and definitely not busy. The beers are fine. The food is fine. Service and systems in this restaurant need some improvement based on our experience. The mobile credit card readers don't work on swipe cards that also have a chip, for some reason. All we were trying to do was start a tab with our server. Our group of 7 all work for the same company and we all have the same corporate credit card. Our server was handed a stack of 7 cards, none of which would swipe to start a tab. This took forever, and in the end, one of us had to give her a personal credit card. This isn't our issue, but some issue with the system. The food order was a fiasco for us. 2 of our plates came out quite some time after we put in our large order. The rest of our food didn't come out for at least 20 minutes, and then they forgot 2 of the things we ordered. We had to remind the server for the 3rd time that they forgot 2 of the plates. Finally, clear the plates, folks! This is basic server 101 stuff. We had old appetizer plates, food plates, empty glasses, etc. sitting all over this large table from when we finished eating until we left the restaurant....which was a long time. The food was pretty good, and so is the beer, so I'll leave this at 3 stars. The logistical and basic server issues at this place need to be fixed. If we had this many issues on a slow night, I wouldn't want to be at OMB when it's busy. Also, given all the issues we had with our simple food order, it would have been nice if a manager stopped over to apologize.

Yelp
This restaurant was very cute. Looked and reminded me of the German restaurants in Germany. Beers. Amazing. You come here for the beers. Sooooo good. I ordered the copper beer and it was delicious. They make the beets there at the brewery which is sooo cool. Service was also very good. My waiter was extremely nice and helpful with which beers to get. Only reason this isn't getting 5 stars is bc the food was so bad. Do better! Germany has amazing food - no excuse!!! With good beer you need good food too.

Yelp
A fun brewery with lots of space outside. A great selection of beers on tap. The food is also good, esp the giant pretzel. There's also live music which was nice!

Yelp
Cute Christmas market at the brewery! Loved stopping through to see all of the local makers! It's great to know the brewery has such events. It's also conveniently located near other breweries, totally possible for brewery hopping. Also love the outdoor space and several outdoor options to order your brews. We didn't order any food or brews, but the ambiance is on point and would love to come back to try some things out.
