"The Original Pancake House DFW has been a staple since 1990. Jonathan Seyoum, who started in a back-of-house position at the Addison location, is now the co-owner, partner, and president. The restaurant is known for its family-friendly environment and dedication to quality. Despite challenges, notably in providing child care for its workers, it continues to thrive. The restaurant is also actively involved in industry initiatives to improve child care solutions." - Nataly Keomoungkhoun

Google
4.5 🌟 overall a very nice place. Hospitable. The services was good. They do try. The food was good and a value in that the omelet was 4 eggs not the standard 3. Loved the pancakes. The only real issue was the selection. They had migs, burgers dutch waffles and more. I just wanted diffeeent meats in my omelet and that was limited. Small issue I guess but that was one for me. Very nice place overall with a good experience. If I drank coffee maybe I would have liked even more.

I took the kids here for breakfast, and they enjoyed themselves. The customer service was excellent, and I loved the teamwork. Ryan was our server, and he did a great job. He was attentive to his entire section, and we never went without anything—we never felt overlooked. I will be back.

Google
I ordered an omelet asked to have spinach added. They forgot to add the spinach so they brought it on the side. Not what I wanted but I can deal. However the omelet was extremely dry. I ended up sending it back. It was way over cooked. The bacon was great the apple cider was great.

I had the chance to attend a Networking meeting with the Veterans in Business Group for lunch this past week. We had a packed room, as usual. The food here is fantastic and our server is patient, resourceful, and so patient with us. She alone enhances our Original Pancake House experience. By the way, I had the "Dutch Baby." Wow, this is an attention getter! I loved the soft insides with browned sides and a little butter/powdered sugar. This should be enjoyed with a protein to justify the carb load. Overall, a great lunch indeed!

Google
Pancakes have a distinctive taste that was not my favorite. They have a complete 24 hour process to "ferment" their pancake batter, but I am not a buttermilk n beer kinda person :)

Google
I have to give a negative review to my favorite place!,, The Original Pancake House. This time I ordered a Spicy Breakfast Quesadilla and I don't understand why it had so much CHEDDAR CHEESE and less of everything else. It seemed something like, "We're short on protein in the kitchen and we have to fill the void with lots of cheese, something like that!"...I'm sorry, I didn't want to do it, but I did.

My first visit here. I ordered the gluten-free waffle, scrambled eggs, sausage patties and mocha latte. The photos include a picture of poached eggs, waffle and bacon. The latte was delicious! It was rich with flavor and provided in a large mug. The sausage patties were really large and very tasty. The gluten-free waffle was wonderful! The scrambled eggs were not very good and lacked in seasoning. They tasted flat without flavor. The salt and pepper dispensers at our table were almost empty. The server, Luis D. was very attentive and made our visit go as smoothly as it did. I would come again, but would try the eggs in a different form.

Our server Eduardo made sure our visit to OPH was wonderful. He was prompt, polite and very attentive. We had the avocado toast and the Hacienda Eggs Benedict - both dishes were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The coffee at OPH is really good. For a Saturday morning the wait time was nil and we got seated as soon as we arrived. There is plenty of seating indoors. There is a wait list option available for customers. This is a cozy restaurant for breakfast and brunch.

Yelp
My teenager decided on this and so we came. Wait was not long, place was getting busy though. Staff was great and severed us well, very attentive. I ordered the egg, sausage and pancakes plate something simple. Everything was on point and I ate all of it up. They do have a variety of options for waffles and pancakes but some just seemed too sweet with maple and different toppings. I tired my daughters pecan waffles and they were good but just not something I could get just taste a little. Overall great place to eat breakfast, staff was great I mean what more can you ask for.

Andrea H.

Yelp
This is where you come to stuff yourself with pancakes and all other decadent breakfast items. Sure, they have a lunch menu too, but the diner excels in making pancakes. If you get a regular table, you can at least push yourself away from the edge to accommodate your expanding belly. We were at a booth, but since my bench didn't have a table behind me, I was able to push back and make some room. We came around 10:30 am on a Sunday in January. There were a lot of people there, but our service was fantastic. Lori regularly checked on us, brought iced tea refills, and offered us things we might need. My Eggs Benedict actually came with potatoes, but I asked if I could substitute them with pancakes. Our waitress, Lori, replied in an upbeat tone, "We're a pancake house, you can always get pancakes!". My plain stack of pancakes were delightful, and although, not really healthy, my Eggs Benedict Florentine did come with spinach, tomato, and mushrooms, so I felt a little better about pigging out. My husband ordered the monster Western Cheddar Omelette that is made with four eggs, ham, and a slew of veggies. He also got the Banana Pecan Pancakes. He devoured that instead of the omelette, but he did manage to savor at least half of the omelette. We waddled out of there stuffed. I'm pretty sure we won't need to eat (or want to eat) anything else for the day. Great place to enjoy a filling meal with friends and family anytime.

John J.

Yelp
Gave the Orig Pancake House another try and we were not disappointed! Service by Lori was exceptional. She made everything so easy and anticipated our every need - all with a big smile. OJ is fresh squeezed daily and so good! Their bacon is thick and perfectly cooked, as are the large sausage patties. Highly recommend both! Eggs were perfectly cooked to order. Grits are ok, but could be better. Last but not least are the delicious pancakes. Not overly thick and good flavor. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
Came in on a Sunday before the Cowboys game! I got the Maple Pecan Banana Waffles and they were excellent. The service was perfect and I never had an empty cup of coffee. The place has a very New York deli/cafe vibe to it. My dad got a very hearty omelette and we both had to work to finish it. I'll definitely be coming back!

Desstoni J.

Yelp
Food was great! More than enough. They definitely aren't stingy with the servings. Server was efficient and friendly. Very clean and welcoming environment.

Dana O.

Yelp
Every time I am in the area I run here for breakfast... it is a must for me! My order is always the same! Apple pancake (order immediately because it takes longer than anything else) and crispy bacon. Add a latte and an unsweet tea please and it's perfect! This time was a tiny bit different as I thought the custard in the pancake was a bit eggier than usual but I put that pancake down anyway!! They have expanded since my last visit but it was nicely done and still relevant to the originality of the place. The best part of my visit this Saturday was NO WAIT!! I have been so use to 1-2 hour wait times! Use Yelp to get on the waitlist if needed!

Melissa M.

Yelp
Really good breakfast place! Pretty much all orders come with pancakes. I upgraded mine to these banana pecan and omg they were delicious! My daughter enjoyed seeing the robot delivering some meals to tables. We came early before the crowds so that definitely helped by the time we left there was a wait so don't forget to add yourself to there Yelp waitlist

Aileen L.

Yelp
Will not come back again found multiple hairs in 3 different plates of food including my daughter's fruit.

Lisa W.

Yelp
Good service great food. Suggest getting on the waitlist otherwise you will have to wait.

Keri W.

Yelp
There was a 10 min wait but there was plenty of seating until our table was ready. The staff was all very friendly. The manager came by to chat and the barista also came by to make sure our coffee drinks were to our liking. The eggs Benedict tasted amazing! It was full of flavor and the eggs weren't overcooked. Our food came out in spurts, which was a bit of a bummer but the manager was apologetic. We also ordered the apple pancake, which is massive and delicious. It's more like a dessert. The atmosphere was cool...typical diner style. We'd definitely return.

Rebecca Y.

Yelp
This is one of my regular spots for Saturday morning brunch. I hop on the Yelp waitlist and then can usually walk in without a wait. Hands down, my favorite dish is any of the French omelettes. They're simply delicious, fluffy, huge, and baked in the oven. I get them with a side of pancakes, wheat toast, or crepes (upcharge). If you're carb-conscious like me, ask for sugar-free syrup, it's delicious. The dutch baby is also amazing, and I've enjoyed the avocado toast as well. The coffee is pretty dark, but I always seem to get it anyway. It comes in a cute earthenware mug. They offer espresso beverages as well here. I love the cozy, homey atmosphere of this particular restaurant. The building is older with a huge coffee cup on top, and I love it. The service is usually okay, and on a Saturday it's pleasantly bustling.

Derek G.

Yelp
OMG the fluffiest pancakes And Craig can't say enough about his customer svc skills Craig you are special man young father take care of that baby Thanks for your complete attention though we were 1 of 4 tables your waited on we never waited on a thing Success to you in your future

Rosa S.

Yelp
Great food they have the best breakfast and coffee they treat me and my family so good

Larry L.

Yelp
Decided to try this brunch place out for the first time. I was not impressed with the well-reviewed 'Snooze AM' which had a location nearby last time I ate there so was up for anywhere else instead. First off, the place was really well maintained. It felt like I was walking into a ski lodge in the offseason. There are both tables and booths. The menu had lots of pancake offerings. I am not a pancake guy but felt like trying a side of some pancakes since that's what they're named after. The grilled Reuben was really good and I'd recommend it to anyone. It seems to have the perfect balance of everything. (I love Cyndi's Deli's Pastrami Reuben the most in Dallas, but that's mainly due to its gargantuan mound of pastrami stuffed into their sandwiches, which might actually be a put-off to some customers.) Their Benedicts, pancakes and crepes are really good too. They offer oat, almond, soy alternative milks for your coffee. I'd like to try their Dutch baby next time.

Lisa C.

Yelp
The Original Pancake House never disappoints! The bacon cheddar omelette is cheese overload and it was perfection! The crepes were fresh and super yummy and the avocado toast was a huge portion that was superb. The staff is personable, kind, and always welcoming! Drop by for a at home experience.

Timia W.

Yelp
Great pancakes. Bacon eggs and potatoes were average and/or under seasoned. More importantly, the place was dirty. Leftover food on my silverware, dirty booth, hair on table, etc. I was just ready to eat my food and leave.

Micaela B.

Yelp
Definitely a contender with all the other breakfast places in the area. Very good food, large portions, and the service was good. We had to wait a bit for our food but it was a busy after church rush I'm sure. wasn't too long. We were just staving

Tom L.

Yelp
The 3 amigos met here for Saturday breakfast at 9 am Thought they were closed, as the parking lot was empty Nope, so all of us had a great breakfast. Two of us had a small glass of grapefruit juice. It was cold and tasted like they just did a fresh squeeze I had 2 eggs sunny side up on top of their potato side eggs were perfect Another had biscuits with sausage gravy and smelled great Last person had 2 eggs, 2 bacon strips, pancakes which he said were light and fluffy Every thing in dining room was clean (though the plexy glass dividers need to come down as they are scratched and that makes them appear dirty) Before we left they were packed with a 5 minute wait for a table

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
Having been here twice now here is my recommendation: do not order anything other than the basic bacon, eggs and pancakes. The eggs Benedict is not good at all. Customer service is hit or miss. Our waitress wasn't that busy and so I guess wasn't laser focused on her work. Just going through the motions. She completely forgot about our toast and when we finally were able to get her attention and let her know we no longer needed it because we finished our meals, she didn't even apologize. instead, she smiled, laughed and joked that someone else had burned it. Honestly she was focused on another table nearby and just was not paying that much attention to us. She did take it off the bill. The eggs were pretty good. The bacon was thick and tasty but overall this place feels tired and out of date. There are much better options available for breakfast.

Angelina T.

Yelp
Our server, Destiny, was very professional, attentive, and sweet. We had driven to the Frisco location of Original Pancake House and they sat us down only to have us wait 15 minutes without serving us. So we got up, left, and went to this location (which was a good 40 minutes away) where we were greeted with good service, good food and a good time. Our server even gave us a free entree for the next time, because of our dilemma. Definitely coming back!

Scott S.

Yelp
A really solid breakfast place. Good food and good service. Only downside is how busy it usually is (B)

Kevin E.

Yelp
Yasssss the pancakes are phenomenal, but the service is slow, but the waitress was amazing. Faster service would be appreciated. Thanks.

Vianey F.

Yelp
I love coming here for huevos rancheros, french crepes and pancakes!! Everything is so delicious and you gotta have the hot chocolate from the bar, although that's the reason why I only give it four stars. The hot chocolate is not always consistent so sometimes feels a little watered down. But, everything else is fantastic. Service is always friendly and fast. I will have to say if you come on the weekend it's gonna be packed so maybe try to make it earlier and won't wait too long. This place definitely feels like home, the seating is perfect they have small seating area and for big parties too. The chairs are so comfortable and big, I love it!

Amber M.

Yelp
Brunch on a Sunday. Pretty busy but luckily we signed up to the waitlist so when we got there we were seated right away. Coffee and orange juice were just okay. Orange juice has the pulp, which is fine but it didn't taste freshly squeezed nor was it cold. I ordered the breakfast tacos which came with pancakes. The pan cakes were super yummy, syrup was overly sweet but nice together. The tacos.. I was not a fan of at all. It said jalapeños but I didn't taste any. Just tasted tomatoes and onions. No real flavor. Maybe if they add potatoes to it and more seasonings it would be good. The two salsas they brought out with the tacos was horrible! The bacon was nice, thick and crispy. My friend enjoyed the breakfast potatoes and strawberry waffles! Definitely want to go back to try some other things on the menu!

Shannon L Y.

Yelp
The service was good, but they seated my family right in front of the alarm exit at the back of the restaurant.. I know for a fact if the fire marshal saw this there would be a problem. Highly disappointed

Megan E.

Yelp
Came here after the breakfast rush. My son had the kids pancake and he loved it. I had the Eggs Benedict. It was okay, nothing stellar but fine. Customer service was good and food came out quickly. Will be back again to try other items on the menu.

Desiree P.

Yelp
First time there and I loved it. Customer service was outstanding! The French toast was beyond delicious.

Katie M.

Yelp
Food and services are great! Yes there are some really long waits. The food, the PANCAKES and the bacon are just so good. Great go-to for me and my husband.

L C H.

Yelp
Good food and service we are regulars. Lori is a great server. Very busy but worth the wait

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
I would highly recommend The Original Pancake House in Addison. The most professional, courteous management and staff. Very accommodating to our needs and then some. The food is delicious. Have been eating there for years. I would highly recommend for breakfast and lunch. Everybody in my office is ecstatic about the crapes. Large a well presented portions with add-ons as requested. Elizabeth - Medical City Dallas

Rhonda V.

Yelp
Delicious food! Best fresh squeezed orange juice! If you haven't tried this place, you should. Friendly staff.

Nichole M.

Yelp
This is a great diner type place. Food is cooked to order using only butter as the fat- they don' t use any seed oils in their cooking which is amazing!! Everything we ordered was delicious and plentiful. The service was friendly and attentive. We will happily come here again when visiting family in Dallas.

Leah S.

Yelp
Always a fun place for a quick breakfast!! Service was great and the pancakes were fluffy!!

Sarah F.

Yelp
We had great service with Lori M today! We love this place. I got the egg whites omelette with ancient grains pancake. I love that there are gluten free options for me here!

Jessica F.

Yelp
Always busy but I understand why, the Dutch baby is amazing. I do wish they had longer hours though because I don't get to go often and their lighting is not great. The food is delicious though so I recommend.

Paige S.

Yelp
I have never been here and I can see why... Service is not great and the food is subpar. They are receiving 3 stars as we received a flower when we came in for breast cancer awareness month. So at least they are supporting a cause. In addition the coffee was not half bad and my grandmother changed her mind about purchasing different mugs so the ticket had to be adjusted 3 different times to add additional mugs. The waitress didn't seem bothered by it. The food was gross, the pancakes had a weird taste to them as if they used too much baking soda. I got the French toast and had to eat the middle and even then, I stopped short. You get 3 very thin slices of bread and it literally taste like sourdough bread slightly dipped in whatever it is the dip in, dish water maybe? I don't know. The eggs were dry and I didn't say scrambled hard. I just said scrambled. The food has absolutely no flavor. Again, the pancakes have a horrible taste. I just tasted my daughter chocolate chip pancakes and it's just horrible. For a restraint that has been around for as long as they have, I don't know how... I would recommend anything but this place for breakfast to be honest. For a pancakes house their pancakes are not the best or even good. Service, you have to spell it out for them to remove any trash or dishes from your table. There were five of us who ordered pancakes or French toast and they only gave us 2 tablespoons of butter for all of us to share. We didn't get a refill on our coffee. Waiter barely checked in on us and didn't ask us if we were enjoying our food. We had to flag them down... Also, my grandmother wanted to purchase one of their cups and they didn't have the one she was drinking out of available to purchase. So they said she could purchase the one she was drinking out of... It wasn't discounted and we had to ask the waiter to wash it out...In general the cups were dirty. Just don't come here.

Brent R.

Yelp
Our server, Jacob, gets five stars for being friendly, professional, courteous, and very attentive. It was a pleasure having him as our server! Fresh squeezed orange juice was delicious and the cappuccino was creamy and hot! The best I've had in a long time. Eggs Benedict was scrumptious and the blackberry jam perfect. A perfect Saturday morning breakfast.

Jim T.

Yelp
Fast and friendly service. I had two eggs, sausage and pancakes. The menu had a wide variety of choices from SW specials such as breakfast tacos to Dutch Pancakes.

Q B.

Yelp
I had to shout out Ms. Ida at the Pancake House. She provided exceptional service! She was very kind, helpful, and a very positive disposition, just a ray of sunshine on a dreary day. The food was great and very tasty. I ordered the avocado toast. Didn't take a pic but it was divine! I would have given it 5 stars but they forgot the fruit, I had to ask for it. Other than that, great experience!

Dinah S.

Yelp
This place is gross. I was craving for crepes and they do not have Nutella strawberry (most common kind) it's dry and a waste of money. The service was alright. The servers were just busy and don't have time to acknowledge you.

Carol M.

Yelp
Love the Dutch Baby and apple pancake. Be patient because it takes a while to book but it's worth the wait!

Claudette G.

Yelp
I love going to TOPH. The people that tend to us are nice, friendly, and attentive. The atmosphere is comfortable, and the food is delicious. My husband and I go often for all these reasons and more. They get busy sometimes because they are short staffed, but we still enjoy our visits.

Yvonne H.

Yelp
I have seen this place for years, always driving by it because I figured it was just another IHOP by a different name. Boy, was I wrong!!! I ordered the pumpkin pancakes, scrambled eggs, a side of chicken sausage links, and, and, and French Press coffee. The coffee was outstanding, unbelievably good! The food was all excellent, simple and good ingredients. It was a really nice home-cooked breakfast, which actually tasted like REAL FOOD instead of cheap and artificial "food," so common in American restaurants. The Original Pancake House is as far away from IHOP in quality as the east is from the west. This breakfast made my day! Also, I found it super cozy inside, the way American restaurants used to be. Service was a bit slow, but the wait was well worth it.

Lysa D.

Yelp
Horrible, horrible, horrible. It was a rainy day and we stopped in to grab breakfast. We called from the car since it was raining and we wanted to ensure the wait wasnt too long. After calling 3x with NO ONE ANSWERING, my husband ran inside. He asked why no one answered the phone and they said they didn't hear it....Whatever. He said the wait was 10-15 min ao my friend and I grabbed our umbrellas and went inside to wait. Apparently, making customers wait is their fortay. Our server was a little delayed in coming to take our order but was nice and pleasant and apologized for the wait. We ordered our food. The waiter brought out our drinks pretty quickly (coffee, oj and water). Byt then we waited almost a full hour for BREAKFAST. An egg combo with sausage and potatoes and a meat lovers omelette with a side of pumpkin pancakes. AN HOUR. The waiter kwor coming by to say he was checking on our food and then brought the manager over. The manager, not a very good one, apologized for the delay and said the food should be coming out. Then he tried to walk away and we asked WHY it was taking an hour to cook potatoes and eggs? He apologized again, said he would take care of "the majority" of our bill. Our food came out and was just underwhelming. The server gave us the bill and we didnt see the manager again. He took off $35 of the bill as a "Guest Recovery" so our bill was $15.60 but this experience was not one that I wish to repeat. I no longer live in Dallas but when I do go back to visit, I will most definitely be sure to NOT frequent this establishment again. Absolutely horrible experience with the service, the indifferent attitude from the manager and the food overall. You can see the pic of one of our plates and THAT should not have taken an hour to make.

Yelp
Came early Saturday before the crowds to enjoy weekend breakfast. I like to try new items and their summer Dutch baby was my choice. Large fluffy baked pancake that forms a bowl. Summer special came with a bowl of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries surrounding a large mound of sweet mascarpone. The creaminess of this delicious Italian cream cheese with the hint of tart yellow was a delight to my palate. You fill this large Dutch baby with butter, fruit, mascarpone and fresh squeezed lemon and powder sugar. Not something to eat weekly but one a year at the end of summer it brings you back to a better time. My Tiki man had the corn beef hash two eggs over easy unusual spices created a delicious. Coffee superb as you would expect from a breakfast restaurant. Staff friendly and attentive all wearing masks properly and social distancing the tables. Even when we left long lines waiting outside to come in.

Jay S.

Yelp
Ahhhh, I spoke too soon. My last review praised their consistency but this morning was a total bust. My usual glass of fresh squeezed OJ tasted watered down and was bitter as grapefruit juice. Maybe that's why they're watering it down but it was way too sour for my daughter. The chocolate chip pancakes are usually packed with chips but this morning the cook threw a few chips on top of pancakes. Not a single chip to be found in the batter! We sent them back and they came back better but still leaving something to be desired. Country Eggs Benedict for $10.99 was only marginally better than a $2.99 sausage egg and cheese biscuit from McDonalds. Big swing and a miss this morning by the Addison team. Worst of all, there was a team of store and regional managers on the floor and none of my complaints merited an intervention. Yes, they removed a few items from the check but the most important things about providing High Quality customer service are to allow the customer to be heard and understood. I felt neither.

Mikey A.

Yelp
I'm not sure what's the point of a restaurant that can't get your order right the first time. Thanks pancake house for giving me food i didn't order, that I'm allergic to.

Matt B.

Yelp
This is a great place to go for breakfast: the standard fare, pancakes of course and Dutch Babies (look it up...so worth the wait). Today the highlight was our server Destiny. She accommodated our eccentric coffee creamer needs and remained extremely attentive, even when things got busy.
