The Original Rainbow Cone

This place is so cute and the employees are so kind and welcoming. I ordered online for an in store pick-up so that I could be in and out. We ordered three milkshakes, and all of them were perfect. They put a couple of mini donuts on top of each shake, and that was enough to get us to go back the next day for just the donuts. On the Thursday night order, it was ready at the expected time and really fast. On Friday night, they were so busy, and even though the donuts were ready at the time my email said they would be, the employees were so apologetic about the wait. The donuts are so fresh and fluffy. They aren't oil heavy, and they practically melt in your mouth. The shakes are thick but not heavy. I was exceptionally with the ease of drinking them. Nothing got stuck in the straw! We got cookie dough and butter pecan, and nothing got stuck - IYKYK. We will definitely be back, probably sooner than later. I have one single complaint: There was an option on the toast app to leave a tip, but they don't have a tip jar in store. When I was waiting the second time, two people in a row at the cashier asked if there was a tip jar. I think one should be set out, the employees were really great.

So good! The woman working was welcoming and the shop was very clean. She took the time to make the slab cone carefully and it looked fantastic. We will be back to try some other flavors next time we are in the area.

Oh my gosh!!! This place was featured in Orange Coast magazine and it was totally worth my drive!!! So good and priced so reasonably! The store owners are on site and everyone there was incredibly welcoming and friendly... SERIOUSLY... WHAT ARE YOU WAITIN' FOR?

The ice cream is all really, really good. My personal recommendation is to avoid their cakes. There is some kind of flavor in the icing that's very off-putting. Almost tastes chemical. I've tried two different cake types and the frosting weird taste was there on both of them. It's really a shame, because their other products are so great.

My husband and I have been to the location in Chicago previously. To see one open up here in California was amazing news because now we don't have to travel as far to get good ice cream. The customer service here was excellent. I ordered a super sundae and a chocolate obsession cake slice. A girl named Caroline handed me out a labeled rainbow cone bag with the cake in it. I was worried the sundae wouldn't make it home and would melt but she assured me with the right temperature and a couple of napkins it would. My order was delicious and I can't wait to try more items!

I ordered the delicious rainbow cone alongside some ice cream and donuts for my family. I LOVE the rainbow ice cream and banana nutella donuts. We will be coming back here again. Hannah gave us samples and was so helpful. She also carefully scooped my rainbow ice cream so I can get a good picture. Thanks Hannah!

This is such a cute dessert shop! My family enjoyed the donuts since they were fresh and delicious. It was such a nice experience to see how they prepared our order. Dayana was so helpful with guiding us through the menu and made us feel at ease picking our flavors. Definitely coming back to try the other sweet treats:)

They absolutely know what they're doing here with ice cream since being established in 1926. WOW. Came here during a little family outing to end our day. What a treat! Since it is new to the area DO expect a wait and please be considerate of the hardworking crew! It's located in a pretty busy plaza. On the other end is an 85 Bakery. Next door to this shop is revolving sushi. Don't let the business of the plaza turn you away though. I mean you can probably get away with spending a whole afternoon here. There's some picnic benches right outside of the shop as well as seats inside. There is also a restroom available. Tried the original rainbow cone since that is what is mainly advertised in the picture and there is a gigantic fake version of it when you walk in. Chocolate, strawberry, pistachio, and orange sherbet piled high on your choice of cone or cup. I opted for the cone for funsies. Ended up turning it over into a cup because it was so hot out that it started melting fairly quickly. A quirky flavor mix but it was enjoyable for me and my kiddo. If you're not into that, they have other ice cream combos you can try all piled sky high. My next venture to this place will include the chocolate obsession. I very audibly said "OOOO" when I saw someone walk by with it. If you're not a huge ice cream fan but want to check out the vibes, they also serve mini donuts! I did not get to try these but they are reminiscent of the mini donuts that used to be available at Sparky's at Universal CityWalk. Only difference is that you can get additional toppings, etc. here. Happy screaming for ice cream!

Staff is super friendly and they have a good variety of flavors! Ice cream, slices of cake, a whole ice cream cake, it's great!! I recommend going on Tuesday's as they have a deal on the junior sliced creation! Definitely will come back!

You're welcomed with the sweet buttery smell of fresh waffle cone as you enter and a buffet of ice cream flavors to select. I was overjoyed with all the choices that I settled on my usual mint chocolate chip and huckleberry. They were creamy and delicious. I think next time I will get their infamous layers of ice cream next time which has so many different varieties that you'll just have to stop reading the reviews and just come and check it out for yourself. Can't go wrong with this place, seriously. Service is excellent and they helpful with all the different services they offer from fundraising opportunities to party ice cream cakes to catered services for your next event. Hot pink stools at the bar top counter or small seats inside available or outdoor seating available at the benches with umbrella overhead. Great for all size gatherings. The restroom is pretty fancy too. Won't ruin it. Come check it out yourself.

Interesting to say the least. We got the original rainbow come and I learned that I'm not a fan of all the flavors. Especially the cherry almond one. I should've just got a regular scoop of a flavor. Love that it comes with a cone holder that also helps with the ice cream when it drips. The donuts were surprisingly good. Who would've thought?! They were soft, fluffy, and moist. IT was busy when we first walked in but it slowed down. Don't know why it took so long for one original rainbow cone. The girl also didn't give as much as our friends got from another worker. It gets crowded. Only 1 table as soon as you walk in. There are a couple seats outside.

Recently opened near Kura! I normally get the ice cream from kura to end the meal but this time decided to give rainbow cone a try. The inside and branding feels really colorful and exciting (perfect for kids) but it also made me have no idea what to expect. I tried the banana split with my brothers and was blown away! It's not just a cute ice cream shop. The ice cream is ACTUALLY really good and creamy (no icey ice cream! Yay!). The banana split was really large! They scooped really big scoops so it's a great thing to share between 3-5 people. You can swap flavors for the banana split if you want. Plenty of outdoor seating. Limited indoor seating. I can't wait to come back and bring my niece!

This ice cream & donut shop is located in a strip mall known as Cypress Village. They have a variety of ice cream flavors which you can get in a cup or cone, as well as a variety of specialty sundaes. The young woman who helped me at the counter was delightfully friendly and helped me figure out what to get. I decided to get two flavors in a cup - Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Big Muddy (dark chocolate with small blobs of caramel throughout). I asked for some gooey caramel topping too. There are outdoor tables to sit at as well as some indoor seating and a counter. I sat at the counter and enjoyed the large scoops. The chocolate chip cookie dough was okay. I've definitely had better. But the Big Muddy was excellent - I really liked the dark chocolate flavor and the sweet caramel surprises in every bite. They also sell mini donuts here. I probably wouldn't have gotten any but Les S. mentions in his review that he thought the donuts were better than the ice cream. I agree completely! They have several flavor options and make them to order. I decided to get "classic glazed" - little plain donuts with a slightly sweet glaze poured over them. They sell them in boxes of half a dozen (which to them means 7) and they were so fresh and delicous. I ate one donut while halfway through my ice cream and immediately pushed my ice cream aside to wolf down those donuts! For me to push ice cream aside for anything is unheard of...that's how good their donuts are. This is a fun and delectable dessert spot with some great ice cream and even yummier mini donuts.

This is a traditional ice cream place from Chicago. Its signature item is its Rainbow Cone which has five sliced ice cream flavors stacked on top of one another (chocolate, strawberry, Palmer House, pistachio, orange sherbet). Most of its ice cream flavors are pretty standard, but decent to good. What I mainly come here is for its freshly made mini donuts. When I say fresh, they are made to order, not made the same day or within the last hour. You will need to wait about 10 to 15 minutes for the staff to make donuts, but they are totally worth it. Just having them fresh makes such a big difference. I even ate some the day after and they still tasted pretty fresh. This location has switched hands several times. I hope this place can last because my family and I love its freshly made donuts.

Newly opened ice cream shop with creative options originating from Chicago. Serving ice cream, mini donuts, sundaes, shakes, ice cream sandwiches, and ice cream cakes. We ordered the original rainbow cone, cosmic birthday, and banana Nutella mini donuts. The original rainbow is so fun with 5 flavors shaved on to one cone- chocolate, strawberry, house, pistachio, and orange. Reminiscent of an upgraded spumoni. The cosmic birthday comes with their superman flavor with birthday cake ice cream. Mini donuts came out piping hot. Service at the counter was friendly and happy to provide flavor samples. However, took some time to receive our order. Some seating inside to enjoy your treats with more seating outdoors.

What a great addition to the area. With all the trendy food that's been popping up this is a breath of fresh air since the prices are great and the ice cream is delicious!! If you want a sweet treat for the family without breaking the bank stop by here. My girls loved the flavor mixes!!

Yum yum yum came here craving ice cream and ended up eating 6 mini donuts and an ice cream cone soo good ! When you walk in the smell of fresh donuts fills the air so how can you not get some ? I literally can eat 12 mini dozen plain easily does not need anything but you can get them with various toppings. The ice cream was rich and smooth and perfectly not too sweet ! I'll def be back

We came here because we heard this place was famous in Chicago so had to check it out. First thing you notice as you walk in - the beautiful smell of fried donuts and the colorful decor. Looked like there were a good number of seats to enjoy some ice cream with friends or family (but no super large tables - we were a large group of 7 so some of us had to stand). We tried a couple of things, including a double scoop of huckleberry and cookie dough, and a rainbow quart. The texture of the huckleberry and cookie dough was nice and creamy, and the huckleberry was a pretty interesting flavor. The rainbow flavors (not judging the texture because the quart isn't meant to be eaten right away) honestly didn't blow me away. It's an interesting mix, but the individual flavors themselves aren't necessarily the best you can find here in OC. The chocolate, strawberry, orange, and pistachio... eh. It kinda tasted like grocery store ice cream flavor-wise. But the price was pretty good, and the quart comes with two cones which was nice (extra charge for a waffle cone). Service was super friendly. It's not bad ice cream and not badly priced, and I think it stands alone as a nice place if I were trying it in another city. But honestly, there's just too many spectacular ice cream places here in OC with innovative flavors and that really nail down their basic flavors, so it's hard to say I'd come back here. Though worth coming once for the novelty of trying a renowned shop.

New ice cream shop that took over the boba store. It has cute decor and the smell was amazing from the donuts. We decided on shakes because the counter gal wasn't too knowledgeable about the ice cream when I asked. I loved that they came with donuts on top which were so light and crispy. The shakes were delish as well. I preferred the Nutella banana over the mint chocolate chip. The Nutella banana donuts were so good and unexpected. I do wish they would have allowed for two flavors when ordering a dozen though.

We came here relatively soon after their opening after dinner next door--definitely enticed by the amazing smell pouring out of the store onto the sidewalk. I later discovered the smell, reminiscent of funnel cakes, was the fresh donuts being made. Rainbow Cone's "thing" is sliced ice cream, popular in the original location of Chicago. It's a cool novelty. The service from employees was great: they were all very lovely and patient as people trickled in and out, and the store was pretty busy. I ordered a scoop of pirates bounty, a unique caramel flavor with mix ins of M&M's and Oreos, my boyfriend got a sundae with mint chocolate chip, and my brother ordered the chocolate obsession sliced creation. I loved the little catcher on the cone to get the drips and i wish all ice cream places did that!! We all loved the ice cream quality and taste, and my only gripe is that my scoop was pretty small compared to the scoop i saw other customers receive, and what my boyfriend received in his one scoop sundae. We will definitely come back as I'd love to try the donuts and ice cream together next time!

New ice cream shop just opened in cypress with bunch of variety of desserts.. they offer donuts, ice cream, sundaes, hand spun milkshakes and cakes. The shop is small and cute and these days very popular.. it's close to high school so it's busy after school with bunch of high school kids.. service is fast. We ordered cinnamon donuts, cookies and cream milkshake and mango sorbet ice cream with vanilla ice cream

The store just grand open on 2/14. We stopped by and got their original rainbow cone. $7 The ice cream is good. It is on the pricey side on the portion size. 4/5 They only have one table with 4 chairs. There is a side bar with some chairs. There are more tables outside in the patio. Plenty of parking.

I'm so happy they opened a store in California after having the rainbow ice cream several times in Chicago. The slices (not scoops) here compared to Chicago are very generous and the price is reasonable. I love the flavors of the rainbow cone, from top to bottom: orange sherbet, pistachio, Palmer House (New York vanilla ice cream flavor with cherries and walnuts), strawberry and chocolate. Life is too short to just have one flavor. I hope this store succeeds and thrives.

The staff is very friendly and polite they offered my puppy a waffle cone treat, it's a clean store. I loved the original rainbow cone in a waffle cone the flavors go so well together and the waffle cone is the perfect texture and consistency it didn't leak not too thick or thin each flavor was so tasty not too sweet the workers will walk out and serve you your order or come over to you it was a great experience

Truly such a fun and unique ice cream spot! The staff was so kind and helpful in deciding what to get since everything looks so delicious. They have unique layered ice cream scoops, made to order mini donuts, slices of cake, and more! I absolutely loved the chocolate obsession (with 5 different layers of chocolate and/or peanut butter goodness my favorite layer was the brownie one ) and my friend loved the creamsicle - looked like a perfect summer treat! amazing sweet treats, cute and clean, and very friendly service. a must go this summer!

Crystal's service was 10/10! She was so patience while we tried all of the different flavors AND even remembered my name when we came back. We ordered the mint chocolate chip on a waffle cone, cookie dough on a waffle cone, and a chocolate on a regular cone. We also ordered powdered sugar doughnuts. Mint chocolate chip tastes like shamrock shake from McDonald's. Cookie dough was creamy and buttery in all the right places. Chocolate likes several flavor bursting in your mouth. Doughnuts just came fresh out of the machine. They tasted like beignets from Disneyland Louisiana!! Real reviews from a 14 year old and a 13 year old.

Drove by the other day and noticed that this place was finally open. Yay. So excited to try we decided to come today pouring rain lol. The place looks super cute. Very small some sitting inside but mostly outside seating available. Today's visit I decided not to get ice cream but I tried the donuts. . My son had ice cream he liked it and of course he wants to be back to try more. They have a small selection of cakes and cakes slices. maybe we can try that next. Everything was OK maybe I'll be back.

Loveeeee that they brought a Chicago novelty to OC! Got the classic rainbow cone and the flavors never miss. It's a unique combo that weirdly works together - must try! If you're not feeling a rainbow cone, they have other flavors of ice cream available, alone with shakes, sundaes, and slices of ice cream cake. They also have mini donuts in 9 different flavors that looked & smelled delicious; we will be coming back next time to try them. Two small things I didn't enjoy: 1. Because they fry the donuts fresh in store, if you're eating inside, prepare to smell like fry oil for the rest of the night. 2. The scoops seem inconsistent...our cone seemed smaller than other pics I've seen, but could've been the angle.

If you don't want to get the giant rainbow cone then order the baby cone! All the flavors are very throw back original. Surprisingly the mini donuts were the best ever. They make them right in front of you. Highly recommend the cinnamon ones.

My in-laws and I would come here after dining at Kira next door. We come here weekly. Rio and Nathan are always so helpful and attentive. Great ice cream and great crew! I enjoy the pistachio almond

The place is very cute, great selfie opportunities. The employees that helped us were nice and informative considering it was our first time. My kids loved the ice cream. The servings are a good size, as well. Would visit again when around the area.

Came on a Sunday night after seeing this is the first west coast location open! I specifically wanted the rainbow cone because of how unique/pretty it is. The ice cream is your regular ice cream shop ice cream - think Thrifty, not Salt and Straw. It's pretty cool to get 5 flavors on one cone and the little cone buddy they give you saves sticky fingers! Tip - grab a spoon so you can try the flavors individually and then all together. They have other slice stacks and regular ice cream scoops and mini donuts along with shakes, sundaes, and ice cream cakes. Tuesdays they have a $4.99 rainbow cone special (usually $7.50 with tax). Lots of outdoor seating although the shop itself is pretty small.

This ice cream shop just opened up in Feb. 2025. The banding and logo are adorable. There is very little indoor seating, just a couple of counter seats and one table for 4. The gimmick of the ice cream scoop method is probably what makes this place interesting. The ice cream itself isn't the best I've tasted in the area. I am interested in trying the ice cream cake, which is available for purchase in slices. My family was not impressed and probably won't return if we are craving ice cream.

This place is great. The portions are good. The prices are reasonable. The ice cream is YUMMY! And the costumer services is great. The girl taking our order and making our cones was super nice and friendly. We had a great experience and we'll be back!

This is our second time stopping by, the first time my finance and I both tried the Original Rainbow Cone, which gave us a good preview as to what they offered. We were trying to be adventurous with our choice in flavors and although it wasn't for us we did want to try other selections. My fiancé ordered the Chocolate Obsession sliced creations which we both enjoyed (he shared a bite) I ordered Minty City, which we both liked. These flavors were more up our alley. We usually get ice cream in a cup but something about this place, it hits the spot in a cone and licked. The scoops are not too big not too small. Which we quite liked. We also ordered a dozen of classic glazed mini donuts to take home to my brother. They were made fresh and were nice and warm when they arrived they also really liked them. What sold us was the friendly staff! (It being a new location good job on that, don't change) the decor and staff uniform were really cute as well! Look forward to stopping by to try additional flavors!

Delicious! One of our new favorite places for a sweet treat. My kids have nut allergies and they were awesome in making sure there was not cross contamination. Friendly staff and fun decor!

Stopped here on a whim after having lunch in the park with my daughter and mom. I had to make it a quick stop because it was close to my daughter's nap time. The place gives a nostalgic feel but mordern at the same time. It's a place you want to come to on a hot summers day. They have seating inside and the staff are welcoming. I ordered a regular shake-cookies and cream (comes with 2 mini donuts on top) and I ordered my mom a sundae. It didn't take that long for them to make it but I needed a lid for my mom's ice cream. You have to specify Togo when ordering or they will prepare the ice cream regularly. My shake was good but it was kind of watery. I'm not sure if they intentionally make their shakes that way or mines just came out that way. I was expecting a thicker consistency. Other than that the favor was good. If I'd go back I probably get the mini donuts. I enjoyed it more than the shake.

Saw that they just opened, so I figured I'd stop in and see what their offerings were. I should have snapped lore pics, but they have a bakery with cake and mini doughnut options along with their ice cream offerings. The idea is that they'll load up your cone/cup with multiple flavors/scoops of ice cream. There's a handful of recommended mixes, or you can do your own. I tried their original as I figured I should see what put them on the map, plus it had pistachio, which is a fav of mine anyways. The cone is stacked fairly tall with some well flavored ice cream. It is a bit on the melty side so you want to dig in quickly - they give you a cone bib as they know it's a potential mess, but shirt hazard aside it is a pretty tasty creation. :) The original cone was $8.50 after tax/before tip so it is a bit on the pricey side, but it was a good cone, and others in the area are hovering around the same. There's not much for indoor seating, although there is a small area outside with ~4 tables. Parking in that shopping center is hit or miss, depending on the time you arrive. In all it was good, and I'll be back soon with the fam to see what they think as well. :)

Happy to see this addition to the neighborhood, especially my 5-year old daughter. They have some unique flavors but the texture is really good. It's creamy and airy...hard to describe, but has a similar bite to Bruster's instead of a Baskin Robbins. Place is clean and staff is friendly. Only thing is not a lot of seats inside.

I really wanted to like this place since it's so close to home. However the flavors tasted too artificial and was nothing special. Food 2/5: we got the namesake rainbow cone but all flavors looked artificial (neon green for pistachio, Bright orange sorbet) and tasted worse. It reminds me of cheap supermarket none name brand ice cream. Chocolate was probably the best of the bunch. Kids liked it though. Service 4/5: friendly and plentiful.

I was so impressed by the ice cream here. I got the original rainbow and all the flavors were good! Not too sweet or heavy like some ice cream spots. Service was friendly and bathroom was clean. Really cute interior. Prices are very reasonable. Would be back if in the area.

I'm not one to try new ice cream flavors but since it's new in my neighborhood I figured why not. Tried the Rainbow Cone which is what they're known for and it was quite good! Get the waffle cone too! So delicious will definitely be returning. Also there were plenty of employees there so service was great.

I visited Chicago last year and was so stoked to learn The Original Rainbow Cone was opening up 10 mins away from me. This location brought me back to the amazing memories made in Chicago. The flavors are always so yummy, I've gotten the Cinnamon Glaze donuts every time I've come here. The service and vibes of this location is another plus. Shout out to Megan Z for being so attentive and bringing me a sample without asking for one. While waiting for the cashier that was assisting me to bring me a sample I asked for, I casually said "Oooh I wonder what Superman tastes like..." and seconds later Megan comes up with a spoon and says with the brightest smile, "here's a sample of Superman!" I didn't think I said what I said super loudly, so the gesture was unexpected and really nice. Thank you Megan for your kindness and helping me discover my new favorite flavor!

Stopped by for the grand opening of The Original Rainbow Cone. It's a very cute establishment. The staff were very kind. The Rainbow Cone itself is a very interesting concept. All of the flavors work well together. The pistachio takes the cake for me. I will be back with my family to try.

FROM CHICAGO TO OC!! A PLACE THAT WE DIDN'T KNOW WAS NEEDED DOWN HERE! Not only are their ice creams, cakes, shakes, and ALL OTHER GOODIES so delicious but the location is very lovely, very pink, very clean and don't get me started on their service, employees are as sweet as their goodies, Ashlee the manager is so welcoming, kind, and on top of it all! Such a great ice cream shop, if you're in OC you must go by. GO GO GO!

Very creamy ice cream! orange dream taste exactly like a 50/50 bar! cookies and cream was the perfect ratio of cookies to cream! the service was a little slow due to the grand opening but hopefully the speed of service gets better with time! not too much seats inside but had a very nice and welcoming ambiance to the store!

Place is so nice, clean, smells great, so many flavors didn't know what to choose. Definitely will come back to try other things on the menu. Never heard of this place before but glad I found it!
