The Paris Café

I recently dined at The Paris Cafe with high expectations, influenced by the enticing photos in reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was a mixed bag. The fried calamari was overcooked and excessively salty, which was a disappointing start. Similarly, the seafood linguine fell short of my expectations - the taste clearly suggested the use of frozen seafood, detracting from the overall flavor 😔 I understand the challenges restaurants face nowadays, especially with rising ingredient costs, and I recognize the effort being put in. However, I believe that the quality of food should remain a top priority. I'm hopeful for improvements in the future. (Tuna Tatar was really good though!)

Love a restaurant that serves fresh baked crispy bread for free with butter and garlic sauce to start off your meal. Because they make their bread fresh in-house, you'll have to try their chicken sandwich. The bun is so soft and made fresh daily. Also, the chicken sandwich was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with a thick cut of white meat. The seafood linguine was good too. Seafood was cooked just right, scallop was very sweet and fresh, and the sauce was a good balance of flavor with the linguine.

The staff was so kind!! They came out with a sparkler and a beautiful dessert for my birthday! The drinks were so well made and well balanced. You can really tell the bartender knows what they're doing! Their new manager is from Barcelona and really made a point to make sure we were happy and taken care of. My partner and I will definitely be going back!!

Brought a small pack of kids here for dinner and the verdict: ambiance is classy and chic. Service is great. Food: typical kids fare but lacks an element of a kid’s meal. There is no drink or dessert option for them. This isn’t a diner. Adult menu was delicious. $$$ for a regular working family budget. The details: House bread. Warm. delicious. Appetizers: Calamari. Grilled octopus. Calamari was shareable. Grilled octopus serving was more for a single or pair to share. Main: I should’ve ordered a salad because my main came no veggies. My friends main was breaded chicken under a bed of salad. No starch. My hubbies seafood pasta was delicious. Worth it. The bar section filled up to standing room only. I loved our cozy booth. The kids could convene tightly together. Ambiance was lovely. Definitely a nice place to go on a date and even for families with children.

Walked in to have lunch, but the service was no very good. Walked out, did not order. Also, the place felt a bit unkempt.

Super delicious food. I’ve been here a few times and it never disappoints. This time I had the Steak Frites which was amazing. The salmon was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The staff raves about it and rightfully so. The mash potatoes side must try! Service was amazing and it was a very beautiful atmosphere.

While I was looking/hoping for a more authentic French menu, Paris Cafe still hit the spot with good food and drink in a nice setting. Servers were attentive and my drink and food (two apps) came out very quickly. I’d return.

One of the oldest, if not the oldest, running bar in NYC (don’t quote me on that but that’s what I was told). They just went under new management and redid the menu. This place is a must try. Great cocktail menu with plenty of options on the regular menu. We had some Atlantic oysters that were super fresh and the grilled bacon to start. Our server recommended the smash burger and the Chicken Paillard. Burger was one of the best I’ve had in the city. The Paillard was incredible. Super light, crispy, and the lemon kick was just what it needed. 10/10 dish. Of course we had to get the mac & cheese as well and it was great. Big fan of this place and will be back soon.

I love that they have happy hour every day! It's a shame I hadn't frequented this establishment sooner! I had their wings which were okay, I wish they had more sizzle. The fries were very tasty and fresh, and the drinks were strong! I found the bartender to be super sweet and attentive - kudos to him for his drink recommendation! It's a pretty spacious spot with outdoor dining and right across from the seaport. I am intrigued enough to come back and taste the other menu items and drinks.

3.5 STARS Stopped by here late at night for drinks with a friend. Their last call was at like 12:15 so don't trust the hours they post on their website that says they close at 3am for a Saturday. We both got the Nice to Matcha (gin, lillet blanc, lime, matcha, vanilla syrup, egg white, lime zest); cocktail tastes like a sweet matcha dessert but in a drink form. I liked it. Getting mixed vibes here. The name Paris Cafe had me expecting maman kind of vibes but instead it was like sports bar like and had hip hop/ r & b music. Music was good but it kind of different from their greenery look and aesthetic. Not sure what kind of vibe they are going for.

Hard to find but nice bar off the Brooklyn bridge! Good views of Brooklyn. Nice place to hang out with A big tv for games.

Came for lunch with a friend. It's a pretty chill vibe in here and we didn't feel rushed. It was very easy to make a reservation. Prices are reasonable for the area, I would advise against driving here though. I was pretty happy with my burger but the highlight was definitely the DOG at the table next to me! They were so cute lol. Glad to see a dog friendly place by the Pier!

Came here before a concert at pier 17 for an early Sunday dinner. Very cute spot that was well decorated and had plenty of seating. The waitress was extremely attentive and stopped by often to refill our water and make sure we had what we needed. My favorite dish of the meal was free - the warmed bread with garlic dipping oil! For my meal I had the French onion soup and Caesar salad. The Caesar was honestly lacking flavor and I've had much better French onion soups at other spots, but nothing I ate was bad. My friend had the Niçoise salad and said it's her go to here and really loves it! Will definitely be back to try the burger since I've heard that's what they're known for.

The perfect chill vibe to chat, dance, and people watch. You might even get lucky like I did and catch friendly dogs in the neighborhood. Apart from being in a scenic area, this place attracts those in their young 20s to early 40s. You are bound to hear classic hits that will make you want to bop your head, at the very least.

The Paris Cafe is in a historic building that adds to the charm/ambience! The menus are minimal but had nice options. The smash burger was excellent. The bartender Kevin is top notch and an asset to the owners of this restaurant -- he is super personable and makes excellent drinks. If you are in FiDi or near Pier 17, definitely recommend!

Nice little spot right by the seaport. The inside has a upscale French decor. The food was delicious. Waitress was accommodating.

We walked in without reservations and were seated very quickly. The restaurant was full of people and really jamming. They sat us next to a loud larger party which eventually was so noisy we hurried our meal to depart. The food was good, but the acoustics were horrible. Way too loud for a dinning establishment.

I was here for an event in the backroom. They've been in existence since 1872. Classic and classy French bistro with indoor and outdoor seating and waterfront views. They have Happy Hour from 3-6 pm Monday to Friday. I had a really good glass of Prosecco ($14). Friendly service. Prices are what you'd expect for the neighborhood. I hear it's especially cozy in the winter. 4.25

The cook needs to try harder. Most of the food lacked flavor. The chicken Milanese was nicely fried in panko crumbs but was not seasoned at all and the salad on top was overly zesty. The rigatoni with broccolini was overly oil and has no flavor. The lemon chicken was dry and did not have any seasoning. Given the price point of these dishes there is a higher expectation on flavor. The French dip was not bad. The bread served was warm and soft. The service was prompt and accommodating. The decor was stylish and done well but these are all accessory to the main event-- food. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone on an empty stomach.

Came here on New Years day for dinner and were seated right away. The interior is really cute rustic and they still had their NYE decorations up. We started off with complimentary warm bread with olive oil. Get: Steamed Mussels: favorite dish of the night. The bacon really enhanced and gave the dish more flavor & we ended soaking all of our breads in the sauce Linguini and Clams: huge clams and the lemon juice gave it an acidic flavor to balance the butter Seaport Spritz: delicious, refreshing, and not too sweet Pass: Fried Calamari: it was okay, I've had better with more calamari than batter Seafood Linguini: the dish was good, however the sauce was bland compared to the other dishes and the clams were very chewy Strawberry Mule: couldn't really taste the vodka, mostly tasted ginger beer Overall great date spot, service was attentive, and would definitely come back to try the other items on the menu.

Stopped in to get drinks before dinner on a Friday night with no prior reservation, this place was cutely decorated for the holidays. We were able to snag a barrel and hang in between the bar and some seating by the windows. Drinks: We all really enjoyed the drinks! My favorite was the Seaport Spritz, it was refreshing, light and not too sweet, which is always my perfect drink. Service: The bartender and staff were very nice. Ambiance: Cozy, cute and with great mood lighting. Great for a date, girls night or hanging with friends. They also had a TV in the corner showing sports, if you're looking for it. Nope or Dope: Dope, will for sure be back, the food also looked pretty good!

I went to this restaurant for dinner. Food was not so good and their service was worse. This restaurant was not busy compared to other restaurants around this area. I understand why.

DO NOT THINK FRENCH!! Lousy food and mediocre (at best) service are what you should think if you're considering entering this establishment. This may possibly be one of the worse restaurants in the South Street area and am shocked at all the "great" reviews. I may have gone on an off-night. That said, sadly, it seems as if nobody cares there. To start with, I sat at the bar and ordered a vodka martini. Bartender asked me if I wanted it shaken or stirred, and I thought, "Okay - good question - good start." I told him, "Thank you for asking," and as it was a humid day, I said, "shaken please, with a twist." Welp - he returns with olives!! Food - I was hungry and began with their fried calamari - for me, that is always a good test for the kitchen--that and burgers. Whenever I enter a new place (for me), I always ask, "Should I order my burger rare to get medium rare or is the kitchen spot on." The bartender said, "This kitchen is very precise." Calamari comes out, and although not overcooked, the batter was not quite right. It seemed as though it had been wet. So, not very good, and the Marinara sauce was awful. They also served what seemed to be undercooked bread, and for a French spot to serve a "baguette" with olive oil and NOT butter seemed very un-French to me, but who am I? I ordered their American in Paris burger with Gruyere cheese, medium rare! A $28 burger!!! So, this has got to be super yummy - at that price point and the excellent precise kitchen making it, there is no way this is bad. People, it was disgusting. It made me angry. It was also medium well on the temperature. Not one service person brought me a napkin, fork, knife, or salt. The manager even saw me collect it from a nearby table as I brought it to my bar spot. Not one person came over to ask me if all had come out okay. This is why I say nobody cares there. The last thing I want to say is this - there were many very intoxicated people there. There may have been an after-work party before I arrived, but they were very loud and unruly. In fact, I considered leaving, but the barman greeted me at that very moment, and so I remained. And I will never return. If I could give below one star, I would. Shameful.

French bistro style. A nice menu of lots of small and large plates. Happy hour Tu-Fr 3-6p.

When my meal takes a bit long to "pop out", I usually get a little anxious and annoyed. Especially when the place is not crowded. You know what rectifies that? Amazing food! It takes time to create a great dish, and for that I'm grateful. We shared the Roasted chicken with lemon fingerling potatoes and it was simply AMAZING. The potatoes were more like mashed into small round discs, but that was ok... didn't take away from it. The chicken was ample enough for 2 people to share and it was simply done to PERFECTION. Do you ever have such a great meal, that you want to find the chef....squeeze his or her cheeks in your hand and give them a BIG FAT KISS!? That was this meal. The staff were all LOVELY and accomodating. Water glass empty. Filled without asking. Supposedly this place is just recently up and going again since Covid, and some fellow NY'ers were also re-visiting from Tribeca. They knew of the quality and long history of this place. Stop by and see for yourself.

One of the guys I went to this place with was lamenting that the new ownership ruined the place blah blah blah. "Another Covid fatality" he would proclaim, "the menu just isn't as innovative and good as it used to be" he added to blank stares. This guy is an idiot, my guess is he mostly wanted everyone know that he was cool.. by somehow knowing about the ownership of this restaurant he was "in" This spot was amazing and it doesn't really matter who owns it. The bread they give you to share was amazing. The espresso martinis (tequila based) were very good as well. I then split the clam linguini and the tuna tar tar with my buddy and they were all amazing, especially the tuna tar tar.

Food took about an hour to get to us. We had to chase down the waiter to get everything and they imposed a 20% service fee. Absolutely trash

writing this at the table the food was so good. Cant recommend the Branzino enough, the mac n cheese is a must. don't get another order of fries if your meal comes with it the environment is so fun, great house music, sitting outside on a pretty is great people and dog watching our server was fantastic even brought my boyfriend a free beer incase his draft beer wasn't cold enough.

I'm sorry to say, now that Chris (the general manager) is gone it has gone downhill fast. Went today for their happy hour. Service was quite slow. The list says mixed drinks $8. What does that mean? It has always meant cocktails but not anymore. Cocktails were full price $18 each. Mixed drinks mean something else, but I'm not sure what. Oh well, another local place I won't go to again. What are you sharing with team? That I paid $18x6= $108 instead of $8x6=$48 but wasn't told?

Such a fun place for a dinner. The food was good and the drinks were delicious - definitely try a drink tower if you have a couple people with you. Service was quick, but we didn't feel rushed. The atmosphere was great for a group celebrating something or just for a fun night out.

One of the oldest pubs in NYC. Great location in seaport area in the shadow of the Brooklyn bridge. French onion soup was exactly how you want it to be: cheesy, oiniony with a piece of bread at the bottom. Old bay seasoned fries are good too.

A long overdue review...I came here for my birthday on July 14th and was over the moon about the service and hospitality of Paris Cafe. The ambiance was perfect and Jaqui helped coordinate the whole dinner - from making adjustments on the prefixe to customized menus, they really put my mind at ease and responded to my emails very quickly. Once we arrived we were served by Ariana (I believe that was her name), and she did such an amazing job making sure we were all served quickly and satisfied. She and the rest of the staff took on 20 high energy people and left everyone very happy. Strongly recommend her as a server! They brought out sparklers and the manager gave me a free drink ticket for my birthday. It was truly everything I could have asked for and so satisfied with the night. Definitely a birthday to remember!

This was by far the most insulting experience that I've ever had at a restaurant. Not only was the server Gabriel inattentive and aloof, but he also accused my guest and me of skipping out on our dining room tab. The manager, Alberto, took it upon himself to approach us three minutes after we left the establishment to accuse us of not paying the tab. After checking that and confirming that the server received an additional $20 tip, he did not even bother to apologize. Instead, he banned me from the restaurant and retreated back inside without even uttering an apology. Gabriel did not return to the table for more than ten minutes after delivering the check, which he had already added a 20% tip to. Crystal, the cocktail server, was amazing, however. I highly suggest you avoid the poorly managed establishment. This was my fourth time patronizing a restaurant in their management group, but I will be sure to never return to any of the group's restaurants as a result of the horrible service.

Such a good lowkey Sunday brunch! Everything we ordered was delicious. Shout out to our waiter Gabriel!! He made our birthday brunch special and told us about the passion fruit belini caraf. It was perfect to split between 3 people. Would love to see bottomless brunch option and come back with a bigger group. Great place and great service!

Needed a quick place to eat while waiting for my movie at Ipic theater down the street and found Paris Cafe. Was seated right away and ordered the 1873 which I didn't hate but didn't love either. Was a so so drink. The oysters were decent, nothing too special though. The Rosita Negroni uses tequila which is a nice mix but this cocktail wasn't memorable at all. The grilled bacon was pretty good and the Smashed burger was nice. In conclusion, it's a decent spot to eat when you need a quick bite, but you won't be amazed at all.

I was pleasantly surprised both on food and decor. They even had a live band last night. Good drinks I had a lemon chicken and it was very tasty I think it would be better without the vinaigrette and just the lemon but very fresh and plentiful. The double smash burger was also delicious. Looking forward to trying to Bronzino next time because I will definitely be back the food here is not your typical pub fare. They are really making an effort to make you as happy as possible here. Even the fries were crispy. I'd actually give this 4 1/2 stars if I could.

Service was great, I had a special dinner with my family there and the whole experience was amazing, the food delicious, the service was great too, the vibe of the place it's very European so it definitely match with the restaurant and the name. Do you a favor and try the octopus that was soooo delicious! I'll be back soon but during the brunch time.

this place is trash. go anywhere else. shocked at how poorly they treat people. as a native of nyc my friends and I have been to numerous bars/clubs and never experienced anything like this place which is such a shame. I never like to share a poor review but needed to happen- one star is already too much stay far far away!

My brother, grandpa, and I were walking around the Seaport area and stumbled upon this restaurant. Started off with complimentary bread which doesn't look like much, but it's freshly baked with the perfect crust and fluffiness and the butter sauce on the side was amazing. We ordered the Pacific Oysters, Little Neck Clams, Tuna Tartare, and Fried Calamari. The Pacific Oysters were DELICIOUS. They were plump with the perfect amount of sweetness and creaminess. Little Neck Clams were also really good as well. Tuna tartare and Fried Calamari were solid. This place is a bit more on the pricier end but the oysters were so well worth for the quality. Overall, I'd come back for the Pacific Oysters and to try the Atlantic ones as well and the other dishes as well.

Absolutely loved this spot! Went with my family for brunch at 1 o'clock on a rainy Saturday afternoon. It was fairly empty with a couple of people at the bar. Our waiter and all people who helped us were wonderful! Friendly, helpful, and attentive. The apps we tried were great -- the cheesy truffle bread and mini pretzel bites. Everyone enjoyed their main dishes which ranged from the simple avocado toast, buffalo chicken sandwich, chicken paillard, and double smash burger. I also got a "side" of Mac and cheese which was huge and delicious!! Hit the spot. Drinks were delicious and strong. Overall an awesome brunch/lunch spot, would definitely return!

My recent experience at Paris Café was nothing short of a scorching nightmare. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with an oppressive wave of heat that made me question my decision to dine there. The discomfort was so unbearable that I felt like I was being slow-roasted alongside the entrees! Feeling utterly dismayed, I decided to voice my concerns to the General Manager, Fernando Bernal, hoping for some understanding and a possible solution. But to my dismay, Mr. Bernal's response left me flabbergasted. Instead of taking responsibility for the sweltering conditions in his cafe, he had the audacity to suggest that I should "wait until it gets cooler" before considering a return visit. Can you believe it? What an absurd and idiotic remark! Dear Mr. Bernal, do you honestly think your customers have nothing better to do than twiddle our thumbs while your cafe turns into a frigid winter wonderland? Your suggestion is not just ludicrous, it's an insult to our intelligence and an embarrassment to your role as the General Manager. I expected better from someone in your position. Furthermore, your feeble excuse of operating in an old building and facing city hurdles falls flat. Countless other establishments manage to create a comfortable ambiance without subjecting their patrons to a sauna-like environment. Your inability to invest in proper cooling systems and your lack of initiative to find solutions are a clear reflection of your incompetence. To all potential diners, I implore you to avoid Paris Café like the plague. It is evident that the management cares more about making a quick buck than ensuring their customers' comfort and satisfaction. There are plenty of other restaurants in New York where you can enjoy a pleasant meal without feeling like you've stepped into a blazing furnace. In conclusion, Paris Café, under the "leadership" of Mr. Fernando Bernal, is a disaster waiting to happen. Save yourself the agony and find a place that values its customers and actually knows how to run a restaurant with a basic regard for customer well-being. Rating: (I would give it zero stars if I could!)

First time at the Paris Cafe. Went on recommendation of my daughter. Was a very good experience. Met a college friend, and a bit noisy, so they were good enough to move us to a quieter location. Food was very good. Loved the LInguini with Clam Sauce. The best....is the Happy Hour! Fantastic deal on drinks and apps, and goes until 7!

Love this place! Great atmosphere and the food is to die for! Went for dinner with my husband and some friends visiting from Canada and Ireland and everyone was so impressed! Service was great, fast and super friendly staff! We will def be back! Thank you Paris cafe for the beautiful experience!

this Wednesday I had no intentions on coming here but we were looking for a quick pick me up after a bad time at the Barbie Cafe. Manager Berto kindly greeted us and swiftly sat us, I drowned myself in an amazing espresso martini made by Ben then a nice glass of wine and swallowed the pistachio brûlée whole! I will be back for more

The host/door girl/manager I'm not sure who she was but she was so awful and rude to me and 2 of my girlfriends. She completely turned us off from even wanting to go.. would not recommend. Terrible service

I had my baby shower in the back room at Paris Cafe and everything was perfect. Food was great, space was pretty much private and everyone had a good time. The staff took good care of all 25 guests and this restaurant will always have a special place in my heart. Making the arrangements with management was also a smooth and easy process.

TERRIBLE service, disrespectful staff, and they IGNORE reservations! I usually don't write reviews, but this was a must. Booked and Prepaid for pumpkin carving a week in advance, and in the heavy rain, they wanted us outside in the cold. Tried to stick it out, then asked to move inside. Resy says they have indoor and outdoor seating, but they said no pumpkin carving inside. Asked to at least eat inside with our PREPAID reservation, and they mentioned other bookings. Called them later, and suddenly, pumpkin carving is inside for everyone else. Completely UNRELIABLE and a huge letdown. Never going back, and I recommend you don't either.

Found this little gem hidden away from our Air BnB. Stopped to have an early dinner and it was happy hour! Good food. Will stop here again.

Very happy to see this historic establishment reopen. 5 stars for the ambience and sexy decor. The food is delicious too. We had the burger, Niçoise salad and oysters. My Manhattan cocktail was excellent. But the customer service needs improvement. Staff is slow, inarticulate & not so friendly. I hope the owners are able to focus more closely on hiring/training.

I got absolutely nothing bad to say about this place. One of the best happy hour in the area. $6 dollars well and wine from 4 to7pm. Tons of food on the menu to choose from to go with your drinks. We ordered the appetizer platter and that thing was huge with spring rolls, cheese sticks, calamari and it was pretty good. The place is also one of the oldest restaurants in NYC. Inside was cool and cozy. Lots of TV. They have an outdoor area to sit on a nice day. Our waiter, think his name was Sanjay, took good care of us and made sure drinks were flowing the whole night. He even gave us a round of shots on the house at the end. Overall, it was a great time.

A poshy bistro (with reasonable prices) located in Fidi, went there for lunch and had a pleasant experience. The food was splendid. I went with the Crabcake Sandwich with a Euporean beer. Literally could eat that 4 times a week every week of my life and be happy. My partner got the clam chowder which she fancied and the chili fries which she didn't like too much because the chili is on the sweeter side.
