The Parish Café Review - Healdsburg - The Infatuation

"For the perfect breakfast before heading out on a wine-tasting spree, head to The Parish Cafe for New Orleans-style comfort food that would make even the most homesick Louisianan proud. Grab their pillowy fried beignets dusted in powdered sugar and pair them with chicory coffee to be transported right to NOLA, or dig into a more hearty breakfast like their breakfast po’boy or shrimp and grits. Lunch is all about seafood po’boys, but they also serve other Cajun classics like red beans and rice and gumbo." - Allison Green

Sixth Street Music Venue Parish Is Sold, and More A.M. Intel | Eater Austin

"I learned that downtown music venue the Parish has new owners: Heard Presents and Steve Sternschein (who also own Empire Control Room & Garage) purchased the space for $376,445 after previous holder Doug Guller put it up for sale via an eBay auction. The buyer said he was worried someone unfamiliar would take over and 'mess it up for the rest of us,' and emphasized that any new operator should be demonstratively committed to local music." - Nadia Chaudhury

A solid 4 out of 5, with more hits than misses. + We called ahead, said we were 15 minutes away, and were promptly seated with a choice of indoor or out. It was a beautiful Memorial Day Monday, so we opted for outside. - We waited a little longer than necessary for our waitperson to come to our table. She apologized in that she hadn't seen us get seated. + Waitperson was helpful, friendly, and even fun, too. Great service after a slow start. + The okra bites appetizer was plentiful, perfectly seasoned, and the dipping sauce wonderful. +/- The crab cake sandwich was good, but not great. The burger was the same. It was a good meal, but fell a little short of 'wow, we've got to come back here again soon.' + The key lime pie was tasty, especially the crust. All in all, a solid 4 out of 5. The waitstaff made the experience great.

Nicest restaurant in new paltz, with the best view of the mountains in town. The staff is friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. Honestly the best quality food served in new paltz. There something for everyone on the menu. Matt and Kerry are amazing as well as the whole parish family. I highly recommend The Parish to first timers, the locals already know why.❤️ Matt’s signature cocktail’s are amazing if you just want a warm drink (alcohol or alcohol free) in the winter, or cold one in the summer, you can’t beat the selection.

Had the best dessert I think I’ve had to date. The strawberry shortcake was so good I accidentally ate it all before I got to take a picture. The alligator bites were also bussin. Cajun seasoning hit the spot and the lemon was a great touch. Had a really good experience here

Ate here 2/13. Service our server was great. Atmosphere is pretty chill. Food was good and had a nice flavour. I got a side salad, alligator bites, and a cup of gumbo Portions are decent. The only reason for the point deduction is some of the prices are a bit much (the one that stood out the most was $11 for mac and cheese (?!) And I think the brownie dessert is $15) Misc: they need to update their menu on their website because some of the prices are shown do not match the menu you are given. Esp important if you budget your money Misc#2: Forgot to take a picture before removing all the sliced carrots to the side. Everything is mixed in (I forgot to tell them no carrots so that's my fault)

The choices are unique compared to other restaurants. The food was very tasty. I had the black bean burger which was excellent. It had a little too much sauce but the sauce was so good. My wife had the jambalaya which was tasty but the chicken was a little tough. Overall we had a great experience and this was our second time here. The service was very friendly. They lowered the air conditioning when we requested and were very polite and helpful.

The place is cute. And the town is even cuter with adorable artsy, witchy, mystical and Tibetan wares. We walked through the cute town of New Palz and then sat for iconically cajun cuisine: gumbo and jambalaya. It was spectacular! Phenomenal! The taste was outstanding. Sure the chicken was on the dry side but I still enjoyed because the seasoning was just perfect. I loved that on a 85 degree day they did not have the ac blasting at 60 degrees like they do in the city. Here, it was a comfortable 73,74- just the right temperature to cool down without freezing. I also loved that they did not serve their water with ice.

We stopped in The Parish for lunch. My husband had the jambalaya with shrimp, I had the Mac and cheese with crawfish. I liked his better. The shrimp had a smokey taste. Mine was just okay. The service was very good and the atmosphere was very homey. I would go back again.
