Where To Eat Down The Shore: Atlantic Highlands To Seaside Heights - New York - The Infatuation

"This three-floor party fortress has been standing strong for more than 135 years and is the perfect place to go for cheap lobsters, steamers, and a variety of sliders as you transition from work to a weekend down the Shore. Walk past the reservation-only front porch and go straight to the outside bar in the back before you hit the basement for live music. Definitely come here on the early side, as the Parker House closes early (last call is at 11:30pm), and is known for day drinking, long lines, and big crowds. " - Michael Sinatra

I had a really good time with a big group at The Parker House. It’s located just a block from the beachfront; as long as you aren’t wearing a swimsuit, you can get in. The restaurant was not so busy on a weekday, but gets quite packed on weekends in the summer. Our group shared the shrimp cocktail appetizer, which was very fresh, and for lunch I had the Pan Seared Crab Cake Sandwich with a side of Cole Slaw and lemonade. Really good! The service was excellent—the wait staff was friendly, answered all of our questions, and very attentive. A really fun experience; I recommend it! Btw, they also have bands playing on a regular basis at night. They have a schedule posted on their website.

Google
The Parker House has great food, the staff was friendly and helpful, the location is great. What makes me give them a 2 star rating is one of their kitchen personnel went to the bathroom and he didn’t wash his hands. I said something to the hostess but it was already too late. The good taste of food was marred by the grossness of his pee pee hands touching the bathroom door leaving the bathroom. I doubt I’ll be going back.

Went in for apps and drinks. Ended up staying a little later since we arrived right when dinner was about to be served. After waiting 45min for dinner service, we ordered (was one of the first) but took almost an hour to receive our food. Some dishes were also cool not warm. We were wearing beach attire but A table that sat down dressed up around an hour after us ended up getting better service and their food first. Might try again one day, but not impressed. Too pricey for what it was. Drinks were on point though, no complaints there

Our dream came true - we got married at the Parker House! My family has been rooted in the Sea Girt area since the 1940s, with the Parker House serving as a common thread through generations. Growing up, I heard amazing stories from my father about summers at “The Shore” and unforgettable moments at the Parker House. I myself have been summering here for 30+ years. When I met the woman of my dreams (now MY WIFE!), I began bringing her to the shore every summer, and of course, to the Parker House. Both of us have been coming here for years, carrying on my family's tradition of afternoon back porch sliders and lobster rolls, followed by late-night dancing and drinks. One memorable summer day, while at the back porch, we had the flirty conversation about having our wedding at the Parker House. We were certain this was the perfect place to get married, with its status as an unofficial national landmark for the Northeast, its Casa Blanca by the beach feel, and the opportunity for us to return and enjoy it every summer. On October 5th, 2024, we made that conversation official. The entire experience exceeded our wildest dreams. We had a stunning grand cocktail-style wedding and had the pleasure of working with the best event manager, Maura, who also got married at the Parker House. This made our wedding day feel like we were working with family with everyone truly invested in ensuring my wife and I had an unforgettable day. With Maura, Lauren, and all of The Parker House staff, it was without a doubt the perfect weekend. The food, atmosphere, and attention to detail were unparalleled. We still receive rave reviews from guests about our wedding here and how refreshing the venue was. I mean, how many people get to say they had their first dance in "God's Basement"! Thank you to Maura & the entire Parker House team, we cannot wait to be back there this summer to be the annoying couple telling everyone over a drink and sliders that we got married here and how we will continue to dance the night away until we're old and frail.

We were told this was the best spot at the shore, so we checked it out. This is the only restaurant in Sea Girt, so it’s very busy on the weekends. We tried the bar side first, but it was a $20 cover charge and cash only (the bar side is all cash only). It’s a younger crowd, and seemed to be very busy - wasn’t worth it to us, but if you want to go to “it” bar then it’s great probably. Instead, we went to the restaurant and waited 1 hour. When we finally sat down, the service was extremely slow. The food and drinks were okay, but not at all worth the wait. Our appetizers came in about 30 minutes, and we waited about 50 additional minutes for our food. The only reason we went to the restaurant was because we had to uber here from Asbury Park, and wanted to make it worth the trip (it wasn’t). The building is super cool and historic, but that’s the best part. Otherwise I wouldn’t waste your time. Way too expensive for this kind of experience.

Google
The customer service is simply awful and the hostesses working yesterday should either have some training or be let go. They recorded our phone number incorrectly and knowing the wait was expected to be an hour we happily spent time at the various bars and after about an hour and 15 min we went to check in on our table and The hostess rudely let us know they only give a 10 minute grace period and when we explained we never got a text and then discovered they wrote the number down one digit off they did not apologize. They did not tell us they would seat us as soon as possible they said well we’ll put you on the waitlist. We were eventually seated and then fell into the hour between lunch and dinner where you couldn’t order food except very poorly prepared appetizers. The hostess had an opportunity to sear us and say we need to get your order in quickly while they’re still preparing lunch and they did not do that and what is worse when we asked questions about why the menu was so limited they made eye roll faces at each other and again never apologized. Never did any service recovery and were simply and utterly rude. The food was marginal to say the best. Lovely facility but the way these people treated us makes me give this poor review. They need to do better.

Google
If I could give it NEGATIVE stars I would!!!!!! DISGUSTING!! Parker House threw out a young woman simply because she stumbled and was ACCUSED of drinking too much. She told them she had NO phone, NO way to reach her friends inside, and NO SAFE way home. They still kicked her out, forcing her to face a FOUR-HOUR walk ALONE at night. This isn’t just careless, it’s RECKLESS. A place that endangers women instead of ensuring their safety doesn’t deserve a single customer. She made it home safely by sheer luck—otherwise you’d be SUED RELENTLESSLY until every last penny was gone. I hope KARMA is REAL and that your business goes down the TOILET where it belongs.

Yelp
The Parker is a shore staple and you make your own experience whether it's food on the porch, sliders in the back (food is always solid) or raging in Gods basement.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful old building in one of the prettiest towns on the Jersey shore. Very friendly and accommodating staff. The food was good, but not great. I had the steak salad and they forgot to dress it. The steak was chewy and undercooked. That aside, I would go back to give them another try.
google avatar

Isabella C.

Yelp
My friend and I went here on a Friday and it was not a fun time. We didn't try the food but the bar service was good. But my only issue is that it's a cash only bar. And that seems a little weird to me. Not a fan will not be going back. Music was okay also

Amanda C.

Yelp
Love the outdoor dining! Always a great meal! We got the Burrata as an app and I got the salmon for dinner. What I love most is the cucumber lime drink! If you like gin, you're gonna love it!!!
google avatar

Peter S.

Yelp
This is the best restaurant & bar in NJ if not in all of the US! The service is amazing, all staff members are super friendly (unlike a lot of other Jersey Shore establishments). They even have Aperol Spritz on tap in the basement! Also wanna address some of the ignorant 1 star reviews on here: yes, if you get to the bar section later on in the day, you will wait in line for a while (because it's a popular place that people LOVE)...so get there early if you don't wanna wait (3pm is usually a decent time). It's not over priced - an Ultra or Miller is only $5 compared to $8 at most other places. Lobster is only $20 on Lobster Palooza on Wednesdays. This place is popular for a reason and has been around for a while and it is a privilege to be able to go here, so if you come here with the attitude of "I'm a customer I should be treated like royalty" then go somewhere else. Believe me, they do not need your business!! I for one will be going here until I'm in a nursing home.

Yelp
Went for an early dinner - which starts at 5p, but we showed up and had a few cocktails until then. Everything was very good, service very good, we even sat outside on the deck/porch in a 95deg day but were cool in the shade of the deck/porch.

Yelp
Fun place Tongan a cold one off the beach. I stay away at night time and anytime time near happy hour though as it gets super crowded.

Alex S.

Yelp
I went for a lovely birthday brunch with my friends. My mom's friend paid for the entire thing. It was almost $500. We wanted to grab a drink downstairs just to pop in quick and they said we couldn't go downstairs unless we each had to pay $20 as a cover fee after already paying $500, how ridiculous!! You spend so much money and are a regular at this bar and they still nickel and dime you.
google avatar

Yelp
The service was awful. Servers kept coming over to the table trying to rush us out for what reason I don't understand the place wasn't pack and it was lunchtime .Finger food cause they would not serve us nothing else cause they said if we wanted dinner we had to wait when dinner was served. We order chicken wings and beverages. After we were done I asked the waiter for a beer, different waiters kept coming over was so rude then the manger came and told us there is a 90 minute sitting policy but my beer never came out . We never got our beer because we exceed 90 minute sitting of their policy. We said never again. Servers were so rude constantly coming over disturbing us at the table. Lunch there is not much to select plus very pricey for finger food. Manager needs to get train before approaching customers in front of the the other customers. Very condescending. I think we were targeted because we were gay.
google avatar

Yelp
Came two time on our trip down. First time we really had slow service from our waitress. This time Reef our server was excellent. He was so attentive. The tuna tacos were incredible as well as the chicken salad!

Robyn B.

Yelp
Meh. Good service, pleasant atmosphere on the porch. Both burgers were overcooked and charred (we ordered them cooked medium). My daughter had the Caesar Salad and wasn't impressed. We have been driving by and wanting to stop here as it seems to be a popular place, but quite honestly don't understand why.

J B.

Yelp
Good food, nice friendly staff and a very fun place to be. Was walking distance to our B&B as well so no driving needed. Side bar was packed so couldn't linger but clearly a popular place with the locals and vacationers. Also nice that they have police outside to help folks safely cross the road. Absolutely recommend this place.

David P.

Yelp
Everything. I use to come to this place because I lived in Sea Girt. It was so much fun, the food was never out of this world but good when you were out on the deck during a hot afternoon. The appetizers and drinks made it worthwhile. What has happened?? This place took such a nosedive.

Billy Q.

Yelp
Senior Staff is power hungry, arrogant, and provocative (besides a few including Wade). Overpriced drinks and food. Have fun being packed in like a sardine. Manager Nick (wears a bandana at 40+ years old) might be the most smug person I've ever encountered. They do not keep their word on things as a man. Zero stars if I could. Consider other options.
google avatar

Emily P.

Yelp
Honestly had a great experience here! The blueberry mojito was refreshing and light. My husband referred to it as "so good that it's dangerous.". The lobster roll was delicious, and I grew up in New England so I can get picky with cold lobster rolls. One of the selling points for me was the crispy french fries. We have seen a lot of negative reviews, but take these with a grain of salt because there seems to be an older crowd visiting during the lunch rush. Definitely give this place a chance if you haven't been yet!
google avatar

Cristian G.

Yelp
Decent beach vibes, food is good, not great. Good service. Great venue size and views.
google avatar

Carly R.

Yelp
Solid food from Parker! Quesadilla was huge and super shareable. Calamari also was good. Think the salad and fries were alright, but can't beat a dinner here to kick off the night. Would recommend waiting on line for the bar, getting a stamp, and then coming to the restaurant to eat. We did not and got smoked by the line at 8pm vs when we arrived at 6 it was much shorter.
google avatar

Alexandra M.

Yelp
Can't beat the Parker House. Personal fave is to come right off the beach for the raw bar happy hour & dip before it becomes a rage fest. I'm too old, can't hang in God's basement anymore!
google avatar

Brian R.

Yelp
Very disappointed, and will never eat at Parkers again. We have been going to Parker's for 3 decades, but hadn't been there in a few years. In the past Parker's was a restaurant with a bar. Now it's just a bar with bar prep food at restaurant prices. We were a party of 4 and all are meals were sub-par. We had stuffed fluke (special), stuffed scallops, shrimp pasta, salmon, with calamari and Caesar salad as appetizers. Only acceptable food was the salad. The calamari appears to been prior frozen. The bake potato that came with couple of the meals was not cooked correctly, the string beans that came with some of the meals appeared to been prior frozen and not cooked correctly. The fish was dry and hard. Worse restaurant meal I had in a long time, for the reason I am writing this review. If you want a good meal go to Sea Grass in Ocean Grove, we ate there a couple days earlier and it was excellent. The wait staff at Parkers was great, unfortunately they were serving poor food, and appears they were understaff as there were a couple of 12 years helping at front booth and clearing tables
google avatar

Charley C.

Yelp
The Parker house is officially done, all the prices are five times what they were two years ago, the service is horrible, there's nothing good to say, as a Customer for 15 or 20 years will never go back

Aidan T.

Yelp
The food is great , sea girt is one of the best towns in the country , and the basement is a lot of fun if you are over 21
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
I bought a tee shirt and realized it was the wrong size. Came right back and tag still on . It could not be exchanged for the correct size. This is ridiculous and now I will never go there again. I love local and would frequent this business but not after this poor customer server!!!
google avatar

Laurie P.

Yelp
There is so much wrong here, yet we love it. The back porch has a cash-only line for lobsters, clams, shrimp and sliders. The line moves so slowly it is insane. Person orders, cook makes their order. Then the next person orders, cook makes the order. No efficiencies here. No reason not to take credit cards. You can not get drinks here, must go to the bar for that. As I wait 30-45 minutes each time I go, I redo the business model in my head. The food is hot, fresh, delicious and sort of a rite of passage each summer. For faster, easier, more pleasant service try Point Lobster or Spikes. But for tradition, you gotta do the Parker House every year. 43 years or so and still the cool place to be.
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
Solid experience here at the Parker House. Love coming on Wednesday nights for their lobster night specials over the summer. This time instead of going with the classic steamed lobster and sides I decided to order the angry lobster pasta special. It was too spicy, even for someone who loves heat like myself, and it could have been sauced a little more evenly but overall a pretty solid dish. The service was great as always. They don't take reservations but make sure to turn tables quickly and efficiently. You're never waiting too long between courses and the staff is super accommodating. Always fun sitting on the Parker House deck on a beautiful night for a meal and drinks. Cheers.
google avatar

Duane S.

Yelp
The Lobster Roll, huge, fresh, and loaded, like 'eat off it with your fork before attempting to pick it up' full amazing. Shrimp Cocktail & Sea Scalloos completed our meal, and were also seafood perfection. Drinks good, wait staff service was awesome. The only downside here, there are multiple venues in this building. A huge jersey shore pumping music club is in the basement. Resturant with outdoor seating around the street side of the building. 2 more bar areas, other side of the building, and upstairs complete the space. The music is loud enough to hear consistently while dining, but really wasn't too bad as to not come again here. Can't do 5 stars for the music, but know you can't go wrong dining here.
google avatar

Tiffany G.

Yelp
Cute porch seating. The staff was very friendly and gave quick service. The Philly cheesesteak egg rolls were THE BOMB! The salmon was over cooked though and the cheesecake was dry. It might have been just an off night.

Kate M.

Yelp
We went for dinner before going to the bar. Spent about $200 for 3 of us. After we ate we went through the front entrance and asked the woman if we were ok to grab a drink. She said no- we have to wait on the hour line and pay cover. I said they should of told us before we ate, but can we at least use the restroom? She said "no, because now I know what you're trying to do." As if I'm a criminal because I live 40 minutes away and needed to use the restroom. She finally allowed me to go but waited outside with her arms up as if to block me from entering the bar. Extremely unprofessional and rude and won't be returning
google avatar

Joseph P.

Yelp
What is there to say that hasn't already been said about the Parker House??!! An institution, a giant out of control frat party, a big scene that requires extra police and traffic control on weekends. Ubers line up by the dozens along the streets... ...New York Times article: forget the Hamptons, Parker House draws thousands away each weekend. A short block from the beach in lovely, exclusive Sea Girt...it's all about superlatives here...the main thing is happy hour and evenings where one can enjoy outside raw bar, sliders, corn...but the real draw is drinking beer among hundreds of good-looking, preppy Jersey Shore / NYC singles. Lunch or dinner out on the porch is actually delightful, with snappy service and very good seafood. All in, it's a happy place and a huge scene that belongs on everyone's bucket list.

Sandy M.

Yelp
I don't usually write reviews but thought this time I should being that we heard so much about the Parker House so we had lunch there yesterday (4th of July) and I ordered a lobster roll. Not impressed at all. it had no flavor whatsoever, no seasoning! I was very disappointed for a $26 sandwich!! Not to mention the server who brought out my lunch reached across the table to give me my plate and knocked over my drink! (she should have come to my side and placed my plate down! I thought for sure they would have brought me another drink at no charge but NO!! Not sure we'll rush to eat there again.
google avatar

CHRISTINE Z.

Yelp
I have a good friend whose family has property on the Jersey Shore, and every time we visit him we come to this restaurant, which is famous for many reasons, but primarily their party scene and the porch brunch. The food was fantastic, and it's always a pleasant dining experience (we usually go during the summer) with great weather and people watching. It reminds me of an upscale frat house and sells a lot of merch.
google avatar

Nicole P.

Yelp
Good food great drinks. Something for everyone if you get there early enough and sit on the porch. Turns into a scene downstairs at night, live music etc. Quirky, fun atmosphere.
google avatar

Mary Beth S.

Yelp
Home of the $24 Margarita! Upon the recommendation of our lovely server, I ordered the Grand Margarita for $14. I did not taste nearly the amount of alcohol that was described to me. When asked if I would like a " topper" I said, "yes". Come to find out the "topper" was an extra $10!! The kicker was that the server said, " we are out of Espolon Tequila but the $10 topper was billed as Espolon! Great appetizers, $$$ Margarita!
google avatar

Stefanie M.

Yelp
Delicious food! Eat out in the porch after a beautiful day at the beach and you won't regret it! Food is excellent, staff goes above and beyond always. I love the energy they have.
google avatar

Todd L.

Yelp
Been a few years since I visited the raw bar/grill in back. Sadly, the quality of food has fallen quite a ways. I have never encountered a more mealy and disgusting steamed lobster in all my years of eating crustaceans. Spend your hard earned dollars elsewhere.
google avatar

G B.

Yelp
How are you out of potato salad on a Saturday within an hour of opening? But hey, who cares!? This place has been here forever and they'll keep making money because the crowds will keep coming to see an icon; the owners know this, you know this, the 19-21 year old bouncers showing up for work at 12 PM know this, as do the inexperienced servers who weren't trained for the start of a new season. Despite these soft gripes, the soft shell crab was great though and hit the spot, family liked the lobster rolls, and the ambiance is top notch. I'll keep coming back and giving you my money, not that you'll care or notice. C'est la vie people, it's a summer shore hangout.
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots for outdoor dining. There's something so inviting about a wraparound porch in the summer. Lovely atmosphere and great food! It's fresh and no-fuss!!
google avatar

Deborah A.

Yelp
I wanted the beyond burger (which was on the menu) but they did not have. So I opted for the fish tacos. Big mistake! I could not tell the difference between the shredded cabbage and the fish! No flavor at all!! I really wanted this place to be our go to spot but I feel like when some places have a great environment they begin to care less about the food. I may try it again but I'm not optimistic.

Tony V.

Yelp
With a heavy heart and a promise to my friends who were with me yesterday afternoon. it pains me to leave a negative review BUT sometimes it's worth sharing when poor management can not only ruin diners experience but can really kill a fun mood when sharing a special occasion ( 21st bday) We did had a big group (mostly parents)and it was on the patio, but we made sure we were there at 4pm which is a very slow time for the patio. We already combined 5 tables to get us to 10 and needed 4more seats for friends that have not arrived - our waitress Caroline ( who was phenomenal btw) tried her best to accommodate us THEN the women below had to blow up our night by literally telling me to tell my friends to simply "Stay Home and don't come here" wtf ?? She was so happy with herself too, we all were in disbelief so had to share miss happy with the rest of you yelpers. Btw this was my first ever review - what a shame as I always loved this spot and live in the neighborhood.

Megan P.

Yelp
Loved the environment, but when it came time to leave the bar, they held up the line and people were having panic attacks. Felt so anxious leaving this place and don't know if the place was worth the stress.

Jude P.

Yelp
Buffalo is back , shrimp , wings, everything, these guys work hard here , upgraded new bathrooms, They fixed up a lot since my last post , love the place Best of all the back bar , go during the week at night when it's less packed because on the weekend is a mad house great bands great sound system, beautiful people , the beach is just a skip away , enjoy the fun!

Sal A.

Yelp
We started off by the hostess informing us that she would not seat us until the person who was parking the car arrived . Ten minutes later there were no tables left so naturally we had to wait . This policy is absurd. Our friends came in from Ohio and wanted the casual beach experience. Sorry to say that 3 of the 4 entrees were horrible. Never ever order the mahi mahi fish tacos as they were awful and certainly not cheap. We 're all still looking for the mahi nahi in the mushy taco of shredded cabbage and whatever other junk was on there . Sorry for the negativity but this is all true .
google avatar

Art Y.

Yelp
Can't beat the $12 1 pound lobster special! Chicken lollipops and fish tacos were good too
google avatar

Victoria B.

Yelp
The food is very low quality. For seafood there is no room to mess around - and with the location there is no excuse! Don't come for food and definitely don't come for service. Huge disappointment for the second year in a row, will not be coming back.
google avatar

Jenna R.

Yelp
Best bar and restaurant on the Jersey Shore. A gorgeous Victorian in Sea Girt, NJ transformed into perfection. Parker House is the go-to summer spot on Friday nights. They offer $1 beers and are only open til 11 pm. This place gets PACKED, lines can be aggressive too, so get here early. It can literally get so crowded that you can hardly move walking around. Now that I am older, I prefer to come on Saturday and Sunday's after the beach for the same amount of fun, just less of a crowd. But regardless... always a fun time! And a plus is on Sunday's they have awesome bands. The porch of the house is a restaurant which cooks the absolute best seafood you will find on the shore. The scallops are what I dream of in the winter (Parker is only open in the summer) and I recenetly branched out and tried the Lobster Mac & Cheese and was just was pleased with the scallops.

Matt K.

Yelp
Stopped in briefly to say hi to my gf who was sitting down for a late lunch. She came out to tell me a story about a ticked off "manager" who was really just a waitress. Weirdly she was right next to us and felt it was necessary to snap at us while she was telling me the situation and I tried to level the situation and she rudely replied to me with disrespect. As a regular paying client I am turned off by the way I was treated, and as a business owner I would not want my employees talking to my customers like this. This place should be ashamed to have someone like this on their payroll.

Carl B.

Yelp
I am sitting stunned by the idiocy of 2 staffers citing restaurant policy to embarrass 4 customers. We were a bit late joining two friends who got a table for four. While we were reading the menu a woman approached telling us "no add-ons, no add ons". She was immediately followed by a manager spouting the same thing, calling it restaurant policy, but get this, we could sit at the open table right next to them. However, they wouldn't allow our friends to switch tables to ours or us to put the tables together! We weren't even permitted to simply sit with our friends if we agreed not to order anything. They insisted we take up 2 four tops but we could not possibly eat at the same table. I won't use names but if you want to figure out who they are just pick up the new Guinness Book of World Records as they are on their way to certify them as the two dumbest women on Earth. Way to go Parker House. We'll never be back. Quite possibly the stupidest and most embarrassing situation I've experienced at the Jersey shore.
google avatar

Olivia K.

Yelp
Great food here no question about it! Although I was very disappointed when I ordered the scallops and they brought me the appetizer. I did not realize I had to be specific when ordering after the appetizers were already brought to the table. Safe to say my first experience here was not the best.
google avatar

Christina F.

Yelp
Well, it looked inviting from the outside. However, I very much wanted oysters or clams from the raw bar and were told by both a waitress and kitchen manager they didn't serve any. Okay, tried to get the soft shell crab. Guess what? Didn't have any since last month. Ended up with the lobster roll, and husband got the crab cake, both of which were just okay. If you no longer have a raw clam and oyster bar or an item is no longer being served, take it off the menu so your patrons will no what to expect.

Yelp
Mediocre food. Racist staff. I'm writing this review because I want the managers to see this. If you're white, you'll perfectly love this place. If you're a person of color, which I am, you might be treated differently. I came here for a wedding and left as a victim of discrimination. The man at the pasta station was an absolute RACIST against asians. He cooked everyone else's pasta thoroughly for 5 minutes...but when it came cooking mine, he shoved everything into the pan, didn't even mix it, and 10 seconds later, put it onto my plate. When I ate the pasta, it was COLD, NOT cooked. AT ALL. The cheese sauce was uncooked, cold, watery. The broccoli and lobster were cold. Now, why wasn't my food served to me in the SAME WAY that it was served to all the other WHITE guests? Why was I treated differently? I didn't say anything at the time, didn't want to make a scene but I'm extremely upset and will NEVER forget this incident.
