The City of Portland Will Set Aside $269,000 to Relocate the Alder Street Food Carts | Eater Portland

"Also originating from the Alder Street pod, the People’s Pig is cited as another cart that became a major Portland hit during the pod’s heyday." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Where to Find Barbecue in Portland for Takeout or Delivery | Eater Portland

"I describe People’s Pig on Williams as open for takeout and delivery with a la carte meats by the pound, sandwiches, and sides, and especially known for its pork shoulder (available on a sandwich, a la carte, or on a plate with sides like potato salad and black-eyed peas)." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Where to Find Serious Cornbread Across Portland | Eater Portland

"Food-cart-turned-storefront The People’s Pig is all about the greatest hits of Southern cuisine—after all, if ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The restaurant smoked its way into the barbecued heart of Portland, offering a menu of beef brisket and barbecue pork alongside all types of meat rubbed every which way in a rustic North Williams location. The side of cast-iron baked cornbread is the much-needed starch for the meat-centric dishes, blackened to a crisp on the outside with moist, crumby goodness on the inside."

Portland Reflects on the Impending Closure of the Alder Street Food Cart Pod | Eater Portland

"I remember the People’s Pig in its very first iteration when Cliff Allen handed me a slice of lard with lemon, salt and a pinch of arugula — that bite still blows my mind; in those early days, Cliff was making porchetta sandwiches on Fleur de Lis ciabatta rolls so phenomenal they would drip lemon juice and pork fat onto the bricks at O’Bryant Square, and I’ll never forget sharing (and sometimes devouring) those rich, fatty sandwiches." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

So-so. I love the fact that they smoke their fried chicken before frying it but they use thigh meat instead of breast meat and ruins a great opportunity at something that could be really great. It also didn't help the flavor profile that everything seemed to be seasoned in the same exact spices. If you have an adventurous palate this isn't the place for you. The lamb was acceptable and the beef brisket tasted quality. They also have "fresh" lemonade that comes in a tiny glass filled with ice that can only be refilled once. It was pretty cold in there as well. The cook and the employee at the register were both polite and the Mac & cheese was better that I was expecting being that it was stovetop, that's why I'm giving it a 3.

This place is super legit... I got the smoked deep fried chicken sandwich which was excellent. My girlfriend got the brisket sandwich which I ended up waking up a few times in the middle of the night wishing I got that sandwich... Next time for sure!!! For sides we had some super cheesy mac and cheese and potato salad, both were excellent. Their draft beer was phenomenal, I had the Amber..

Cool neighborhood bar-b-que place. We tried the smoked lamb, smoked pork shoulder and brisket. All of the meats were very tasty. The sides: potato salad, maccaroni salad and corn bread and pork rinds were good. Nice draft beers to wash it all down with. We were there for happy hour, so we got our plates for $6 and the beers for $3! It's an order at the counter and bus your own table kind of place, with a cool atmosphere.

By far one of the best BBQ joints in Portland! My husband votes for it to be #1! I can see why it one of the nation's best Smoked Fried Chicken sandwiches. The chicken is juicy and incredibly tasty! The ribs had a great smoke and I loved the BBQ sauces. Cornbread and potato salad are also worth trying. I can't wait to come back and try out a few other things!

Best BBQ I've had in a looooooong time, and that includes stops in Texas. The smoked fried chicken took me to a different planet. Brisket was fantastic as well. The plates here are BIG, so come hungry!

The smoked fried chicken was definitely the highlight! Brisket was on the dry side, and the barbeque sauce was... different (vinegary and heavily spiced with cumin, I think?). But the cornbread was good and came drizzled with honey, and the pepper jelly was pretty great. Service was quick and friendly, cocktail was well-made, and I can't say enough good things about that chicken!

We wanted authentic American food and that's what we got. It was really good and the meat was so tender. We could taste the experienced hands in our food. Definitely a must go in portland.

Awesome, 2 thumbs up. Portions are big, great prices, well crafted flavors. The fried chicken was juicy and tender, great spice and breading, and not full of bones which just adds more value. The lamb was well cooked and flavorful. The fresh pork rinds are crispy. I had the porchetta sandwich which was tender, paired perfectly with the greens and dripping with deliciousness. The smokey flavor isn't overpowering but enhances all the dishes, what a treat
