The Picnic Tap Opened Today, and Hunters Station’s Fast-Casual Food Hall Is Complete | Eater Nashville

"Inside Hunters Station, the Picnic Tap opened today at 11 a.m., bringing picnic-style fare from longtime Nashville chef Chris Futrell, including hot dogs made with Porter Road meats, Bavarian pretzels with beer cheese, burgers, hot chicken sandwiches, and cookie dough egg rolls with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Beer selections (25 on tap) will change frequently and are listed on a digital menu accessible via their Untapd page; the Picnic Tap is one of the few spots in town with a beer engine and they fill growlers to-go. Four wines on draft are available now, and once the liquor license clears the menu will expand to four draft cocktails and a full bar." - Delia Jo Ramsey

Google
really good hot dogs, brats and grilled cheese sandwiches at this place inside the Nashville market, would recommend checking them out

Kasia B.

Google
Super delish beer and fun atmosphere! Bring in food from the food court and try a new brew!

Google
This is a little hot dog shop. I had the pimento cheese hot dog. It was pretty good. It was very filling and had a lot going on. My husband ate the grilled cheese and seemed to enjoy it. The spot has lots of beers to choose from.

Google
Wow. Those three letters pretty much sum it up. As at least one other review said, I wasn't expecting much, but these folks delivered. Beer selection was great and the hot dogs were probably some of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend this place if you need a bite to eat walking around the farmers market.

Google
Super cool place, too bad the service is awful. Lose service skills under rush hour pressure, “cook” decides to lose demeanor and be a smart mouth because my family couldn’t hear the name of the order being called out. But that’s when you get when you hire someone that can’t even look professional or groom appropriately to handle food.

Jennie J.

Google
The hot dog selection was great I had a hard time just picking one! I like the unique and eclectic selection. The sides were all homemade and delicious I had the coleslaw it was fresh and crunchy. The beer was good and the service was friendly.

Google
Broadway sucks. Picnic Tap doesn’t. Do the right thing. Support local. If you want a place where the beer flows like wine, where beautiful people instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano, look no further than Picnic Tap. The team is awesome and the customers are a great mix of local regulars and tourists hoping to have some great local craft beers and conversation.

Google
Great food and cold beer!! We had the Chicago dog and potatoe salad...wonderful! Mexican Lager and Honey Blonde Ale were just delicious. Staff members were very friendly.

Yelp
Fun annual Real Ale Fest sponsored by The Picnic Tap every November. Lucked into amazing weather this year. Multiple breweries take place sampling their one-of-a-kind ales. Great space at the Farmers Market with plenty of seats and free music. Always a fantastic time!

Yelp
Came through for a quick cold one and it didn't disappoint! Friendly guy behind the bar who helped me choose 2 different IPA. Great location! Didn't get to try the hotdogs but saw a few peeps who ordered some and they looked yummy! Maybe next time!

Yelp
Just okay. There's simply other options at the Farmers Market that are far better. My hot dogs were utilitarian at best and the small beer was fine. I didn't appreciate being called chief and boss by the guy at the counter. I also didn't enjoy a small roach crawling out of the wood separating my eating area from the main food court area. But I just shined a light on the roach from my IPhone and it went back into hiding. Will I go here again? Maybe as long as the rude bartender isn't behind the cash register. Would I recommend it to a friend or coworker? No. The only thing that drew me in were the beers, and the food was just not anything I'd come back for. Sorry guys. It's just how I feel about my bad lunch there today.

Yelp
Ok so this place is pretty cool. Their beer is good and their hotdogs too. It has big long picnic tables (hints the name) so it's a big happy family of strangers with the love of beer and hotdogs in common, they also have bar stools around the edge. Staff have always been friendly and attentive. It's busy and crowded because it also has the other vendors in the market's food court. If you're local you can join their text msg group and they send a text with events they are having. They don't blast your phone either, maybe once a month or 2. Overall it's a great place to come for a beer and hotdog. Parking is free in the Farmers Market lot but it's always busy and hard to find parking.

Yelp
Fun place to stop in for a quick drink and bite to eat. Our group was walking past this place and decided to stop in for a quick drink. Service was really quick and they had a large selection of different craft beers to choose from, it was tough to decide! We were on our way somewhere else and wished we could have stayed longer, but will definitely be back to stick around!
google avatar

Yelp
Get the dogs, get the beer! Great place in the Farmers Market. Good rotating selection of local beers.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
Stopped by the farmers market as we were on vaca. Picked the hot dog place cuz it had beer. This place was great! Awesome beer. Good music and the chili dog was 10/10!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic Coney Dogs and Picnic Beer in 36 oz is the perfect Saturday brunch option at the Farmers Market!
google avatar

Jordan H.

Yelp
Honestly not great. My husband got the frito pie and said it only tasted like beer and not in a good way. My hot dog was nothing special and the staff was a bit rude. I probably won't be coming back
google avatar

Dean H.

Yelp
Love the simple menu and beer selection. The atmosphere among the market is both symbiotic and iconoclast simultaneously.
google avatar

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Came here tonight for Horror Movie Trivia night - what a great way to start off the Halloween Weekend right? They have hot dogs with various toppings, potato chips, coleslaw and grilled cheese. Also about 10 beers on tap. It's a chill vibe - trivia was cool and they hold it once a month. This is a great place to relax at and unwind. It's also a great place to walk around and see all the different booths they have at the Farmer's Market.
google avatar

Amanda F.

Yelp
Super friendly staff and a nice selection of local brews and ciders. They had some food that looked tasty but my husband and I did not eat while we were there. Overall a cool little place to grab a drink and relax while at the Farmer's Market.
google avatar

Dustin H.

Yelp
So, probably close to 5 stars for the beers. They serve a lot of great local brews on tap. The staff is super friendly and full of good recommendations as well if you're not sure what you want to drink. Food choices are pretty basic but good--local bread which is used for either a grilled cheese or a bun for your hot dog. The hot dogs are Porter Road, great quality of meat. There's a ton of great flavor topping choices for the hot dogs, too. I will say that while Porter Road makes a great flavored dog it's a fairly normal sized dog so in a big bun like that it kind of gets lost amongst the toppings. There's a few side choices (more would be appreciated).

Yelp
A great spot in Nashville for beer and good company. Love the folks that tend the bar and take care of you. They have the best Chicago dogs in the city too. Will be back, but not soon enough!
google avatar

Yelp
Great place for a cool drink and a bite to eat while exploring Nashville. The Picnic Tap is located in the farmers market in downtown Nashville. They have a large selection of local beers on tap along with a limited food menu in a relaxed atmosphere. The PT is sectioned off with seating for their customers, which makes one feel more relaxed while taking a break from the hustle of the market. If you're not sure what you'd like, the employees are knowledgeable and give you a recommendation. I also appreciated how they recommended other establishments/breweries to visit later in the day!
google avatar

Yelp
What a great little bar in the farmers market with great food and a good assortment of local beers, a very friendly atmosphere where everyone knows your name. Plus an amazing bingo game every Wednesday!

Jim H.

Yelp
This is the best place to hang out with your friends and enjoy some great local and regional beers. The Staff is awesome and makes everyone feel so welcome! Bingo night is a bonus night of fun!! If you have not been here...you are missing out.

Yelp
The Good: Hot Dogs; yum!!! I had the Chicago Fog and it was authentic and great! They had several others, including a Cony Island and a Southern that has pimento cheese (going to try next visit)! I also had a great German Pilsner! The frito cheese things looked good too, as solid the big roasted pretzels!!! Tips: have to get your beer at the counter; if you just sit down at the bar, nobody is going to wait on you! You can get your beer to go; they have an outdoor bar location by the produce building!!!
google avatar

Elaine G.

Yelp
Pretty nice find inside the Farmers Market as we stopped by the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park to find a "snack". We ordered a pimento grilled cheese and the southern hot dog, which were both pretty big, especially the hot dog. My grilled cheese was yummy, and I'd have it again. You gotta have pimento cheese when you're in the south. The only thing I'd say is that even though the bread was crisp and toasted, some of the inner cheese was still unmelted and cold. It was kind of an unconventional bread choice, but still good, but it's probably why all the cheese didn't melt. My bf liked the hot dog as well. Price was also very cheap so we were happy!
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Cold fresh local beers served up in a fun relaxed space in the Nashville Farmer's Market was just what we needed after a walk through gorgeous and moving Bicentennial Park! We are very glad that it is OK to get food from one of the food stalls in the market and bring it in here to eat - if you buy a beer, of course! We bought a flight of local brews, and they were all very good! They have an extensive selection of local brews on tap, so we were very glad for the advice we got from the very knowledgeable lady at the bar, who asked what styles of beers we liked and mixed us up a nice sampler flight that suited us perfectly. 5 have a cold one here stars

Yelp
Hello again another review for the Nashville farmers market... So many amazing places to get food to get a beer to do a wine tasting maybe have a coffee and a treat if that is your thing. But if a beer a dog are your thing then the Picnic Tap is a place to stop and get a beer. They will also let you bring in any food from another place in the famers market or you can carry your beer around to another location. The staff are friendly with expertise in the art of beer tasting stop and let them know what you like in beer and they will hook you up with a beer or flight of beers.
google avatar

Dore T.

Yelp
Nice selection of craft beers. Beers are mostly local. Employees weren't terribly social even though it wasn't all that busy. I had the watermelon sour which was good.

Yelp
Wifey and I really love The Picnic Tap - located inside the Nashville Farmers Mkt - every time we are in the Mkt it seems like they are always open for lunch, happy hour or late night beer/growler and oh so much #drinklocal vibe. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and this place, along with the entire market, was humming. If you haven't been here yet you should know that Picnic Tap is not a brewery, but is the next best thing: a bright and airy watering hole that has a laser focus on local beers on draft - with 15 - yes 15 taps being rotated frequently. The nice thing is we were able to try many of the new offerings from Nashville brewers via PT's tasters and then we can take a growler home or plan a visit to their tasting room. I see on their chalkboard there are nights that focus on one brewers offerings, with free swag and visits from the brewers during their night. During our stop we saw many hot dogs come off the grill that looked real yummy. I can't comment as we didn't partake, but based on the volume of dogs being served they must be something special! Overall experience and service was great at Picnic Tap - I enjoy when the bar keeps know the beer and offer you tastes before you commit to that special pint(s)!!

Yelp
There was no place to sit and eat our lunch inside and wanted a beer with our lunch. While my husband waited for our food, I walked up asked if we ordered beer if we could sit and eat at one of their tables. The person behind the bar replied "absolutely!" I explained what kind of beer and I like and what kind my husband likes. She said "I got you." Then presented me with two beers that both of us enjoyed while we sat at a long picnic table eating lunch. We stayed for another drink and next time will need to try a hot dog they serve. Thank you for fast friendly service where we could relax and enjoy lunch.

Yelp
I go here every Thursday for pint night. My wife and I ate here once, fish and chips. Delicious. Beer selection is choice l, lots of local brews. Service is friendly and fast. Love this place!
google avatar

Heidi M.

Yelp
This was actually our favorite bite in all of Nashville. Food was delicious and service was great. We tried to order a pretzel and the delivery hadn't come yet, but arrived as we were eating and staff brought us one. Love this place!
google avatar

Jordan K.

Yelp
Located in the middle of the farmer's market and across the street from the Sounds stadium, The Picnic Tap offers a pretty good variety of craft beers. There is a pretty small seating area and the place is nothing special but it was a decent stop.
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
Great beer. I kept hoping to have time to stop in for a flight and got an opportunity my last day in Nashville. Friendly service and a plethora of beer options. It doesn't hurt that it's located in the farmers market among amazing food either.
google avatar

Ashley R.

Yelp
I waited in a very long line to discover they weren't serving food. There was a sign but the side indicating the kitchen was closed was backwards so people in line couldn't see it! Wasted 20 min of my day... try he girl needs to occasionally yell to the line that the kitchen is closed.
google avatar

Shann S.

Yelp
Vibe is laid back and welcoming!! A must if you're into great local beer and not in a hurry on the weekend. Good meeting place!
google avatar

Lauren D.

Yelp
I was insanely excited that there was a local beer watering hole INSIDE the farmers' market and decided this should be a thing everywhere! We spent a long weekend in Nashville and felt everywhere did such an impressive job of offering local beers and The Picnic Tap was no exception. Had a Wiseacre Knockout IPA (in a jar!) and husband and I split the bratwurst special. Have a few good food options is a major bonus of this place.
google avatar

Billy M.

Yelp
Great beer. Chill atmosphere. Possibly the worst hot dog I've ever had. Poor quality meat and super dry. I got the Chicago dog.
google avatar

Cassidy D.

Yelp
Try the beermosa its awesome!!!! Great little spot with a great selection of beers and its located in the Farmers Market so plenty of parking nearby.
google avatar

Misty P.

Yelp
Great beers. Great service. We drive to Nashville on the weekend to visit this place and people watch at the farmers market.

Yelp
Great hidden gem inside the Nashville Farmer's Market! Incredible selection of local craft beers on tap with a fun atmosphere. They have food offerings that all look great! I've only had the soft pretzel with beer cheese, and I certainly recommend it! The cheese is amazing! It's a great place to sit and relax while exploring the Farmer's Market and Bicentennial Mall, enjoy a snack and a cold brew! I stop in nearly every time I'm in the Farmer's Market. Check it out!
google avatar

Ellie G.

Yelp
Found this great little gem today during our Hop on Hop off bus tour. A great variety of local beers. Friendly staff that was knowledgeable about the beers and free samples given
google avatar

Jay D.

Yelp
We were strolling through market day when we came by this perfect little spot to have a few beers and people watch. They were serving beermosas which was pretty cool and my wife enjoyed it. Great craft brew selection and super friendly staff.

Blanca P.

Yelp
Great find for local brews. Small food menu which is perfect for this atmosphere. Chicago beef hotdog was a treat!

Jenny G.

Yelp
We love this place. My mom and I can wander around the farmers market while my dad and my husband enjoy beer and a hot dog. We join them after wandering and I am never disappointed by the beer selection. They have something for everyone. It is also affordable. The fact that it is located inside the farmers market next to the ice cream vendor is also a plus. We can bring over ice cream for my daughter to enjoy while the adults relax with a beer.
google avatar

Morgan J.

Yelp
Fun place! In the middle of the farmer's market and right next to the park and Sounds Stadium. We came right before a game while we were checking out the area and had a great time. Good selection and nice bartenders. Nothing special but a nice place overall!
google avatar

Brandy B.

Yelp
Great selection knowledgeable staff to help you pick..nice place to take a break fom the hustle and bustle of the market!!

Marie H.

Yelp
So disappointed. I have ordered their shrimp on numerous occasions and always got truly "jumbo ". While understanding that food prices have gone up, what I got today was not worth $5.00 bucks let alone what I paid for it. Won't be going back.
google avatar

AJ D.

Yelp
This was a fun place to visit in the Farmers Market. The bartender was very friendly and helped us from what we were looking for. Great seating options! There were a wide variety of beer options. We arrived for Happy Hour and the prices were excellent! I would recommend!
google avatar

Adelle R.

Yelp
The servers where very helpful and willing to let me get a few brews before I made the big decision! I love the open market atmosphere with bringing in whatever food you wanted from the great selections of restaurants. I highly enjoyed the Shrimp Gumbo from The Original Nooley's and it paired perfectly with the turtle anarchy another way to rye. I can't complain about the Tennessee beers I have had so far. I gives this a big thumbs up!
google avatar

Richard N.

Yelp
Vintage baseball Great beer My honey Is there anything else better? Stopped in just to grab some Georgia peaches then found out there was a craft beer location. Walked outside to find there is a vintage baseball game. I love GREAT BEER AND BASEBALL.
google avatar

Kasey G.

Yelp
The Picnic Tap has one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever had. I would highly recommend giving them a try.
google avatar

Bridget S.

Yelp
Nice lunch: cheese and cured meat platter. Great seletion of local beers. Nice to sit and enjoy lunch in a vibrant farmers market with my hubby! We will return. Another plus: they serve soups too!

Karla B.

Yelp
Talk about a great spot! Fun place, great local and regional beers, over the top delicious food, and a wonderful gal behind the bar. From the moment my family walked in, this bubbly girl was there to make our experience special. After a great burger, a few tasty pints and some killer wings, we left feeling like we had a new friend. We can't wait to go back and catch up with our favorite bartender!
google avatar

Karlee B.

Yelp
The beer selection is great !!! However, the food , not so much. Out grilled cheese was cheese on , I think a hot dog bun.
