"This historic Civil War era lodging house is a now a Relais & Chateau property. Beyond featuring the areas’s most luxurious accommodations, the Pitcher Inn recently renovated its restaurant, creating a modern-yet-cozy green-walled dining room complete with a wood-burning fireplace, cherry wood tables, and a thoughtful yet simple menu of locavore fare. An award-winning 500-bottle wine selection and craft cocktail program pairs well with chef Jacob Ennis’ creative cooking (he regularly uses the dining room’s fireplace to roast ingredients). Alternatively, for a more casual experience at the inn, head downstairs to Tracks for burgers, charcuterie, couches, and cocktails." - Heather Platt

The Pitcher Inn's Main Dining Room is a very special place! From Chef to all staff, the team offers excellent service. The dining room, preparation of food, and attention to guests is meticulous. We have loved our time in the beautiful dining room. The space is so elegant and simple at the same time. Every dimension and characteristic has been thought about and flows together as a thoroughly memorable experience. We know of very few places like The Pitcher Inn. Thank you for your commitment to excellence!

Everything about the Pitcher Inn was exquisite! The food and service were perfect. The rooms in the inn are updated beautifully. Can't say enough nice things about the staff - It is obvious that they have been well trained to take the finest care of its guests. Highly recommend!

I felt as if I was being welcomed into a family. Granted the first week in January is an amazing time to get a lot of attention but my friend and I felt the warmth would be there even with a crowd. The people who work at the Pitcher are fun, funny, focused on delivering every guest a special experience. This is not an inexpensive experience but fully worth the price. I had a working fireplace in my room. I was blown away the let me use it. —with some help. I will return.

Can just comment on dining. It’s a ghost town on a Saturday night. They turn people away saying they are full, but the place is empty. Not sure what the goal is here. The downstairs is adequate pleasant pub fare. Nice staff. But completely EMPTY.

Second time as guests here, and this place is just, SO special! The building itself is historical and charming (as is the general store across the way). It's exceptionally maintained and immaculate in cleanliness. Friendly and engaging staff, completely helpful in every way. Each room has a special story and the details are unique but also luxurious, but also, a true Vermont feel! A beautiful area, with tons of hiking/snowshoeing/skiing/ or just sightseeing covered bridges and the beauty of Vermont. A true favorite! :)

Google
Beautiful Inn located in Warren. We usually visit once or twice a year, usually during ski season. Always for dinner, never used the lodging. This year we came during Autumn for fall foliage. The restaurant was closed so we ate in Tracks, the lounge. Tracks is accessed by a simple door off the lobby of the Inn. Down a staircase and through a cave like stone passage. Very unique. The bar and lounge open to a garden area. We sat in the leather sofa by the fireplace. Very cozy and charming. We enjoyed cocktails and dinner in the sofa seating. Started with Caesar Salad, the Corn Chowder Soup, followed by a Roll. All the plates were good, but the Chowder was the highlight. Highly recommend. This is one of the few higher style and intimate experiences in the area. Unfortunately they closed the pool table and game area. A disappointment as we used to end our night having drinks and playing shuffle board. Visited again this year and we were able to eat in the restaurant. It was excellent! Highly recommend. Every aspect of the meal was spot on. Returned again this year. Another good meal. Great service.

The Pitcher Inn and Warren Store better know what they are doing. I wouldn’t host him but it’s a free country. But it will be noted by all. You can’t ruin everything and then go on living your life without consequence.

Google
Please understand 4 stars from me is a very favorable review. This place was GREAT! The rooms are, apparently, very idiosyncratically decorated…ours looked like a back country lodge and I understand others are all equally fun. The room was very large, with a nice sitting area, desk area and separate sleeping area and a huge, nicely appointed bathroom. The food was amazing. These people are evil! They leave out fresh baked pasties for those of us who can’t last until the delicious breakfast. The scones! The muffins! And no one keeping count of my gluttony! Need I say more?

Yelp
My first experience at the pitcher inn was mixed. First, while the website references 2 restaurants - more casual Tracks and a more upscale one upstairs. It wasn't obvious in my open table reservation that it would be for Tracks. The menu at Tracks is a bit limited although the food is decent and the drink selection is extensive. The ribeye for $47 is part of a ribeye and roughly half of mine was fat. The beef parts were good as were the sides that came with it. They're a bit understaffed this season so service was a bit slow though understandably so. The inn itself looks beautiful and I may choose to stay there someday. But I'll probably only return for dinner if I'm a guest.

Andrew K.

Yelp
Delightful ambience, great service. I may be one of the few to comment that the Squab was not gamey enough. Must have soaked it for quite a while. But everything was very good and well executed!

Mark A.

Yelp
The hostess and waitress were extremely friendly/welcoming. Service was very prompt & efficient. Water glasses were always kept topped off. The menu was pretty small. A half-dozen starters, and same number of entrees to chose from. We were all surprised at the minuscule portion sizes (for the price). Mushroom risotto main course was equivalent to a side of what I'd expect for a meal, and the cavatelli was slightly more, but hardly filling. One of us ordered the radish and pickled vegetable starter, and it looked like the garnish that accompanies a dish. We ordered one dessert, and at $14, it was small & disappointing. The taste of the entrees was good, my complaints are primarily focused on the portions (of everything). If you don't mind paying $30+ for a side of mushroom risotto, that may not be a concern for you. With other restaurant options in the area, I'd recommend dining elsewhere.

Yelp
Went here while shopping for a wedding venue w my chick. Def not the spot for a wedding but had dinner downstairs at Tracks and OMG. The atmosphere is just amazing. Almost like stepping back in time to a turn of the century road side tavern. We started w our usual pre game gin cocktail for the chick and a Manhattan. We shared a hearty creamy corn chowder and Caesar w xtra anchovies. Both way on point. She had the duck w a black rice and creamy cauliflower and some sorta small summer squash thing. That was way over the top. I had a ribeye cooked perfectly w some sort of butter compote. We wrapped it all up w the chef's interpretation of s'mores. The service? Excellent. Go here now.

Yelp
We brought a friend from Sweden to Tracks--the tavern at The Pitcher Inn--recently. It was a highlight of our 7 days tour through MA, VT & ME. Outstanding food & cocktails. Superior service. A great experience. Tracks is now on our "must go to" list when in Mad River Valley!

Jill G.

Yelp
Let's start with the room! Ski room: OH MY GOD, what a awesome layout. Wood beams across the ceiling, Ski memorabilia, the detail in the walls, Bed frame, KITCHEN will blow you away. The fireplace is always a plus! Bathroom: two sinks a huge shower attached to a nice size bath. Track restaurant: our dinner here made our stay 10x better. We had a private dinner in the cellar (for our honeymoon) our waitress was AMAZING, our food was OUTSTANDING, the most memorable dinner of our lives. The chef deserves an award for every dish he prepared for us. My husband loved the wine pairing as well! Breakfast: breakfast is in the main lobby of the hotel, other then us being the only ones there it was great! We wish there were more choices or maybe a choice to order two different breakfasts but chocolate chip pancakes were just right! The ladies in the front desk, helped us so much! Told us some great restaurants, steered us in the right direction for plans for the day! Very helpful! Only one downfall here but it may just be VERMONT in general, no WiFi ! WiFi basically does not exist. Tried to keep in touch with family as much as possible but it was very very difficult. Would love to come back during ski season, we heard it's very crowded! Thank you to all staff and Jacob the chef thank you for an unforgettable dinner!

Yelp
The dining was recently taken over by a talented local couple. Sadly, the menu is now the same in both the basement pub and the fine dining restaurant upstairs. It's a fairly limited, fine dining menu. I'd imagine that this has really cut down on food and drink sales, since the draw of Tracks for us was the more casual menu and sofa seating areas. We never really used the dining room. No one wants to eat an entree while seated at a big soft sofa and cocktail table. Restaurants are now trending to small plates. (The hub is a partner in a large hospitality company.) It's fallen off our list as a result, which really makes me sad, because the pub's ambiance and staff are lovely. It was always our go to spot when we had guests in town. Luckily, several new establishments have opened in the area so we do have other options but I do wish the new hotel owners and chef would reconsider and bring back the more casual menu options downstairs. It's an institution- and the long-standing customers want their place back.

C B.

Yelp
Needing to cancel our reservation and communicating this within the required time, the Pitcher Inn has not returned the 90% refund amount posted. Despite many, many calls to them, the manager neither returns our calls nor refunds the total amount for which they are responsible (according to their posted cancellation policy). Thus, not a reputable business. We wonder how many others have experienced their malfeasance. We're contacting the Better Business Bureau now.

Susan R.

Yelp
We had a wonderful dinner at Tracks. The menu is imaginative and perfectly executed, everything was prepared just as we requested. This restaurant is big city quality, but with all the charm and friendly service that we love about the Mad River Valley. We loved how they used local ingredients of finest quality. Just a delightful experience!

Anamaria A.

Yelp
Came to dinner here and was very pleased with everything we ordered. The restaurant itself is very cozy and nice and the food was fresh, very flavorful, and delicious. Good selection of cocktails and wines and exceptional service. Definitely going back next time we're in town.

Nick C.

Yelp
Fantastic! I recently got engaged here (and will likely wed here) and the staff made the experience an incredibly memorable one. They were accommodating and warm throughout our stay, and very responsive throughout the "planning" process. They followed through with promises. The food and accommodations (we stayed in the Trout Room) were excellent! Above all, I appreciate their genuine dedication to the guest experience which was exemplified our first night when Betsy told us "of course you can, this is your home for the weekend!" Do not pass up the opportunity to experience The Pitcher Inn!

Amy G.

Yelp
I came for dinner, while I was visiting Vermont in the fall. I've been here once before but it wasn't anything memorable. This time we had a great waiter, and attentive staff. The atmosphere was calm, and the fireplace gave it the right touch. I had the cavatelli with lobster, and it was delicious, with an uni butter. It could have had more lobster for the price but it was good. The green salad was the perfect size, and everything was great to share. I recommend this place if youre in town because it's an opportunity to not be missed, in a unique location.

Al R.

Yelp
This place has always been near and dear to my heart! I had my bridal shower here, my first date with my honey not sure who is currently managing or if the new owners are even involved but I find it incredibly disturbing that in the middle of a pandemic (COVID) employees are maskless! The Pitcher Inn pulls so many people from "red" zones dining and staying here it's scary!

Steph A.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Our first time here and can't wait to come back next year. From appetizer, to dinner, to the dessert (and wine), fantastic. And lovely service. The people are so nice. Highly recommend!

Patrick M.

Yelp
I don't normally like to leave bad reviews because I know how important reviews are for businesses large and small. However, I made the mistake of ignoring a few bad reviews and decided to spend my pandemic honeymoon at the Pitcher Inn. The front of house staff was completely and utterly incompetent from the moment we arrived. We spent over $4000 at this hotel for a mini honeymoon and the below will be our memory of our honeymoon forever. From the staff not being able to provide directions, to not knowing what services they even could provide, to saying we would have to just get by on their great personalities (they weren't great) to promising us one thing and then needing to be reminded several times to deliver on that promise (something as small as champagne glasses in our room or please unbox the flowers that arrive today and put them in a vase for us upon our return (instead it was left in the box and put with our suitcases)). Further, on a honeymoon often hotels do something for their honeymooners and we didn't expect anything, but we were treated so poorly and repeatedly faced roadblocks when we needed support from the staff. Frankly, this was unacceptable. None of the rooms had working fireplaces as was advertised (and one of the main reasons we chose the hotel), there were no services that you would expect in a fine hotel. Even during a pandemic, there could have been more effort done to make the immense and extravagant price tag of this hotel somewhat more worth it. The only thing that was worth the money here was the private dinner in the wine cellar, though, even that was a bit uninspired and lacked exciting twists or novel combinations, but I highly doubt that was the chef's fault or the server's fault, both of whom were fantastic. I will not be returning and I will recommend that no one go to this place until there is a complete changeover in management from top to bottom. I hope this is helpful for others of you out there wondering if this once charming hotel is worth the price tag.

Brian M.

Yelp
Amazing food. Gracious wait staff. The wine selection is probably the largest of any restaurant in Vermont, and it is phenomenal. We didn't stay in the hotel proper; we just ate in the restaurant on the main floor. There is also a beautiful pub space in the downstairs. I believe the building was refurbished in the early 2000s after a fire, and it all looks great. This is not your typical ski town restaurant; it's a lovely restaurant that happens to be close to a ski mountain. The food was delicious - we had salads before the meal, and we had fish and duck for the main course. All of it was fantastic. The desserts were also stellar. We also had cocktails and wine, after asking our waiter for a recommendation; his recommendation was on point. Can't wait to go back.

Marsena A.

Yelp
We stayed here 2 nights on our Leaf Peeping journey. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They helped us with luggage....we were in the Hayloft and made sure we knew were the tavern/game room was, tea in the Library and coffee early in the morning. The breakfasts and dinners were delicious, locally sourced when possible. Excellent wine list. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Kaitlin M.

Yelp
I came here last weekend with three friends for a drink before dinner. We went to Tracks for our cocktail. The ambience is fun--ski memorabilia, creepy but quaint taxidermy, the bar is beautiful and well appointed, the staff is professional, the couches are cozy and there's a fireplace. A more upscale (but still casual--we were in jeans and I had a flannel top on and fit in) apres ski bar. We sat at the couches in the Main section and felt cozy--our waitress was so knowledgable, super friendly, and helpful. I wanted a gin cocktail but wasn't feeling gin and before I even asked she told us we could mix them up. It was delicious! We were catching up and had a blast. We were in and out in an hour--perfect for our reservation elsewhere. The waitress kindly split the bill for us and we were on or way. If definitely go back!

Tony D.

Yelp
Amazing Inn. The inn exceeded our expectations in every way. We were looking for a nice place to stay on our road trip through Vermont and the Pitcher Inn was perfect. The room was comfortable and well decorated. The casual restaurant, Tracks, was very good and had a pool table and shuffleboard for after dinner. The service was top notch and we definitely will pay another visit to the hotel when we return to Vermont.

Abe E.

Yelp
Came here for a romantic birthday dinner and was really amazed. The atmosphere was amazing, and the service was perfect. The matrede was supper pleasant (Thx Ari) and helpful, and our waiter knew exactly when to ask for our order or let is enjoy moment. The portions were perfect size, as we did not have to roll out of our chairs, and very tasty. Looking forward to coming back next time I'm in the area. Thx!!!

Abhishek C.

Yelp
A true gem. Excellent, comfortable bedrooms. Very high-end and outstanding service. The food is truly fine dining especially if you get the tasting menu. Will definitely be visiting again. Sugarbush mountain is right next-door.

Professor C.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of Beaver Lodge at Winvian and it was booked. So . . . without telling my wife where we were going, I just started driving North. We spent 2 nights in Trout and enjoyed waking up to the first snowfall of the season. The stay, the food and the dinner in the valet were nothing short of spectacular. We'll be headed back this year and hope to make it a more frequent event. What a lovely get-away and a great staff.

Jane D.

Yelp
This place is perfection. I booked 10 rooms here for my husband's 50th birthday. Every room has its own personality, and every detail is carefully considered. The housekeeping was spotless, and touch-ups were unobtrusive. The bed was extremely comfortable and the hotel was silent at night. We had a dinner at the Inn one night and the food and service were excellent. Ari, the General Manager, helped me plan a menu in advance. We had a good time talking over options. I left the details to him and to the chef, and they planned a great meal. Breakfast in the Inn each morning is excellent. Local, homemade, delicious. The bakery items are ridiculously good. If you can think of an excuse to stay here, use it. The Pitcher Inn is worthy of the hype!!!

Adrienne S.

Yelp
I was very excited to try the "new" menu and experience the upstairs dining, having been downstairs at Tracks many times. Sadly it was extremely disappointing. The fish was dry and tasteless, the prices extremely inflated for the quality of the food. The crab risotto lacked crab and taste as did the ceviche appetizer. The best part of the meal was my ordinary salad. The service was good and room attractive.

Dee F.

Yelp
This is a review of the restaurant, which, sadly, isn't listed separately from the hotel on Yelp. We put off our Valentine's celebration to a more relaxed evening, which was last night, and visited the Pitcher Inn for the first time. What a wonderful evening! The service was attentive and friendly, and our server was articulately and comprehensively knowledgeable about the food and wine. Every course was beautiful and delicious, from the scallops we shared as a first course, to the interesting salad combinations, to the cassoulet and seared tuna. And the maple pot de creme was sensually scrumptious. The setting is lovely and relaxed. A memorable dining experience.

Carol C.

Yelp
Each room in this quaint award winning hotel has a theme. I'm in the Calvin Coolidge room which is basically decorated and dedicated to the former president. A few other rooms I know about are the Trout room, you guessed it, a trout themed room, the Presidents Room, the Mallard Room, the Ski room and the Loft to name a few. This is a top rated hotel and is everything they say and more.

Karen W.

Yelp
This is a wonderful inn. Extremely clean, comfortable, and well-run. We were truly impressed. The food was absolutely delicious, and the bartenders made fantastic drinks. The setting was magical. I highly recommend it.

Matt K.

Yelp
The Pticher Inn is a Relais & Chateaux property, of which there are maybe 20 in the northeast USA, including the Inn at Little Washington, Per Se, and Daniel. Judging the Pitcher Inn against its peers is perhaps unfair, since it is in the backwoods of Vermont, and yet, it is an oasis of satisfaction in any setting. So how to judge the Pitcher Inn? Darned if I know, but it is a fantastic experience. The only complaints I had are 1: it is expensive, and 2: it is not Michelin 3 star urban-chic-inventive-sous-vide cooking. It is, however, top-notch cuisine, and served in a convivial setting, very casual, as true to Vermont as is possible while being high-end but casual, and the wine list puts most restaurants to shame. Lasting for several pages, it makes you drool, and although it contains many expensive wines, many are priced more fairly than the typical 3 times retail markup. But in spite of all this, the service is friendly, warm and eccentric Vermont. Get them going on almost any topic and they will engage you as much as you want! The food is sublime, we had the duck confit salad with bacon and greens, the cauliflower soup with tiny meatballs done 3 ways, the squash-filled ravioli with sage brown butter sauce, but it had a fresh (cold) farmers cheese, lemon zest and hazlenuts to round it out, which made it unlike any other squash-filled ravioli with sage brown butter sauce that we ever had. A duck dish with more squash, kale and a beautiful sauce, and a veal chop with brussels sprouts and crispy potatoes was divine. We moved on to the cheese cart, and then dessert, which we had to split. A panna cotta with figs, and the panna cotta was done to perfection, not too soft, not too hard, with figs soaked in a berry sauce that I can't quite remember. We were stuffed to the gills, and quite happy. And now the best for last, do not tell anyone this randomly (this is why we all read and write for Yelp), but your host, Ari, loves Monty Python, and if you can quote it, and show an appreciation for wine, he will take care of you, and you will have the most wonderful time imaginable. Wink wink nudge nudge, know what I mean, say no more!

Katie W.

Yelp
Giving the Pitcher Inn 5 stars just doesn't seem to do it justice. Dining at 275 Main was one of the best meals I've had in my life! Impeccable service, spaced out seat right in front of the fire place, mouth watering food and delicious drinks made the whole experience INCREDIBLE! Thank you fellow yelpers once again for this stellar recommendation. In the beginning it reminded me very much of the Equinox Resort in Manchester, VT, but in the end it was leaps and bounds ahead. Props to our server Mason who invented his own cocktail and had a huge personality! Here's what we got and will be dreaming about until next winter: -Lobster in butter with fennel appetizer -Duck Confit Risotto with Parmigiano Reggiano and Shaved Foie Gras appetizer -Almond Potato Gnocchi with Roasted Winter Squash, Curly Red Mustard Greens, Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Parmigiano Reggiano -Grilled Northeast Family Farms Beef Tenderloin with a Castello-Scallion Potato Cake, Brussels Sprouts and Pancetta It does get a little pricey, but definitely worth it after a long (cold) day on the slopes!

Yelp
I can't say anything for the Pitcher Inn and its hotel accommodations, but I can speak for the fabulous underground mini-restaurant titled "Tracks". The first thing that struck me as a I walked in were the beautiful photos of mountainous animals, with their paw prints and names. Mellow music was played, and there were more couch and lounge areas then tables. Board games were available, and a grand fireplace was burning. The best part, in my opinion was the game room. Complete with a gorgeous pool table, a shuffleboard and antique billiard balls and q-sticks, the game room was hit! The only thing I didn't like about Tracks was that the food took a very long time. It was fine for us however, because we were in the above mentioned game room, and I could understand, the place was crowded. The food was amazing. I recommend the burger with bacon. Hope to return there soon!

Raena W.

Yelp
The Inn is a cozy romantic b&b that goes well beyond the usual to make guests feel special. The staff and the service they provide is exceptional. The food is of high quality and the wine list in their restaurant is extensive. Our in room wood burning fireplace was a perfect touch. I was sad to leave to go back to the hustle and bustle of NYC but I guess fairy tales can't last forever.

E J.

Yelp
One of the best dining experiences I've had since we moved to New England from Chicago. The food and service are both top notch!

Mike H.

Yelp
The Pitcher Inn is one of those places that you don't find, but it finds you! We actually found it by an internet search and knew nothing about it and at first I wasn't sure if it was going to be "that" place. The prices are on the higher end, but once you experience it you'll understand and know it's worth every penny! The staff is dedicated to the inn and what it represents to the area. If you want a place with some hustle and bustle it's NOT the place for you, but if you want peace and tranquility with just a touch of modernisms, well than this is it!! If your a skier there's a resort just up the street (Sugar Bush) if you just want to kick back and chill than that's ok and if your interested in covered bridges and sugar shacks, well they have plenty within driving distance. As I looked through the guest book in our room I noticed most people come up for a special occasion (weddings, engagements, birthdays etc.), but we just went cause it was a new place for us. Although not in season or just at end of season it was still a great experience and we WILL be back. Thank you Pitcher Inn for your dedication to comfort and a stress free environment.

Amme P.

Yelp
What a lovely place. Each room is individually designed to reflect a part of Vermont history. They are for sure a bit odd, but in an over the top way that works. We stayed in Ski, and every inch was done up like an old fashioned ski lodge. Fireplace, steam shower, and jacuzzi tub added to the coziness. Ski also is the only room that has it's own kitchen. The restaurant downstairs is fabulous, and even though they don't advertise this, you can get your meals in your room! Breakfast in bed by the fireplace over looking the river is a perfect morning!

Tim B.

Yelp
Save your money!!! Place is way overrated and NOT worth the money they are charging. Stayed in the Lodge room for multiple nights. The bathrobes apparently shared a single bathrobe belt that had been cut in half and each robe got a half. Wife is a size 6 and could not tie it closed. Shocked to find trial size Pantene products in the steam shower. Tea bags were rarely replenished during the day. Spenda must be a commodity in Vermont as they only put 4 packs out a day. No milk for the Nespresso coffee or tea unless you asked, even though there was a small refrigerator available. If you had the audacity to ask for one of their "dream cookies" you faced an inquisition and needed to justify why you wanted two of them...oh my. Expect to be followed throughout the General Store upstairs across the street while browsing the store. Breakfast fruit plate consisted of a single strawberry sliced into 8 pieces and garnished with a dollop of yogurt and a sprinkling of granola for $50.00 The library had a candy jar full of Dum Dum lollipops and Double Bubble bubblegum. Conde Nast? Relais & Chateaux? Don't see it....

Dick H.

Yelp
The Pitcher Inn deserves five stars - got four because of oversalted spinach :) But it was outstanding in every respect other than that, starting with the table service - silver - the somelier (Ari) who listened to our wine ideas and came up with a 2007 Napa Valley Zin that was delicious (and in our price range, without asking what our price range was, based on a previous wine choice - nice). My wife had French Onion soup with blue cheese crouquettes, delicious, but sherry and craime fraische based so it's rich. I had an absolutely wonderful duck / watercress / dark-toasted rye crouton / bacon salad, with clementines. Nice touch. Next she had a marvelous warm beet salad with green peppercorns. Main course - she had a vanilla bean infused parsnip ravioli. I had beef tenderloin, local, medium rare, with unfortunately salty spinach, and a delicious blue cheese ravioli. I finished up with their cheese plate - a refined, aged local Vermont goat cheese (excellent) and a sheeps milk brie clone (buttery - I should've gone for a harder cheese, there was one there) along with a nice plate of dried figs, apricots, and hazelnuts and walnuts, along with several nice cheese breads. The atmosphere literally can't be beat - real fireplace, beautiful inn, and super-attentive staff. Leave your worries at the door, plan on spending a couple hundred dollars, and enjoy every minute of it.

Yelp
Delicious menu and incredible. Keep in mind the basic rule applies-what you pay is what you get. If on a budget or have young children some may not to pay the prices. However, for my price range worth it!

Claudia K.

Yelp
WE arrived to the warmest welcome in a sublime setting, with everything thought out incredibly well. Sioban (sp) greeted us at the check in, and walked us to our rooms while Ari welcomed us from the managers room. We could not have felt more welcome! I had the school house room and my friend had the mallard room - again, nothing was left out - the rooms are decorated to the n'th degree, - the bed could have been more comfortable, but other then that, it is spacious, well designed, and comfortable. We dined in the main dining room where the rest of the family took care of us! The food was fantastic, and pardon me for forgetting our wonderful waitress (Ari's wife and daughter. But here is what caps off the stay! Before we left, we went down for breakfast - our gorgeous waitress (ari's daughter - again, i am terrible with names) took our order. i ordered granola, blueberries and yogurt. She apologized that they did not have blueberries, only other assortments of fruit. The next thing we knew... my friend saw her running across the street to the amazing "store" - and lo and behold, a generous portion of blueberries along w/ home made granola was put in front of me. Top that!

Yelp
Such a shame. We loved this restaurant for years. The food is ok but the familiar staff and ambiance is gone. Now the same food is served upstairs and downstairs at the formerly more casual Tracks. Customers in t shirts and flip flops mingle with the nicely dressed clientele- table cloths are gone as well as the gorgeous art. Now in its place, wooden top tables and art for sale. Also the background music is atrocious- the Jackson 5 and the Supremes? So bad...anyway still an ok place to eat I guess if you can afford it but why if it's not broken did they try to fix it?

Yelp
Tracks is fabulous. The stonework and lighting are beautiful. Service was outstanding too. We ordered the blistered peppers and local meat plate to start and they were generous portions of very good treats. We shared the steak frites. Drinks were also tasty. Portions were perfect for my husband and me. The bill was reasonable and we will definitely go back.

Yelp
Pretentious, can't sit you even for a drink while you wait for the kitchen to "clear up." Never going here again.

Yelp
Very disappointing evening. Joined my parents for their 47th anniversary; the have gone to the Pitcher Inn every year for years. Reservations were made weeks ago, specifically for the dining room, and not for the basement bar. Drove an hour. When we arrived, we were told that there was a party in the main dining room, and they were not provisioned for a full service. We would be seated in the basement bar with a limited menu; the options turned out to be rather bland compared with their usual offerings. The manager had allegedly "tried to get in touch with us," though we have no evidence of this. They gave us a complementary bottle of prosecco, but no other consideration. The situation should never have arisen, and, in my opinion, more should have been done at a restaurant (usually) of high quality to try to correct the situation once it arose.

Yelp
The Inn offers wonderfully prepared foods delivered with personal and attentive service. The general manager is very where morning, noon, and night insuring you get the personal attention you need provided by him and his friendly and outgoing staff. He even bought maps and helped plan leaf peeping trips during the day. The ambience is New England, with old buildings and warm fireplaces. Just a wonderful experience.

Yelp
We came all the way from California to experience this amazing inn and restaurant. It was worth the drive (kidding, we flew). We came to Vermont and specifically The Pitcher Inn to celebrate a birthday. It was indeed a birthday that will stand out in my mind for many years. The food and service were off the chart. The location of Warren and this gem are unique. Dinner and our breakfast were the highest quality of food and service.... the grilled octopus appetizer with fresh beans were amazing. The halibut was outstanding. We shared a strawberry rhubarb tart for dessert. Wow. The Inn even comes with an academic General Manager who recites Shakespeare. Can't wait to return in winter for cross country skiing..

Yelp
My family and I head to the Pitcher Inn at least once a year. We love the setting and usually start our evening on their patio with cocktails and appetizers. Every part of the evening is wonderful. The Menu changes often but all is typically yummy! Save room for dessert,

Yelp
My partner and I just got back from a lovely day/evening at The Pitcher Inn. We only stayed one night but the ambiance, the service, the room... everything was perfect. We stayed in the Ski room, a lovely apartment, which if you couldn't gather from the name is decorated in all sorts of knick knacks and antique ski-related memorabilia from the Mad Glen Ski area. We had access to a full kitchen (though we chose to eat downstairs at Tracks instead) but greatly appreciated the espresso machine, the truffles and the fresh fruit left for us. And the steam shower in the room is exactly wha was needed after a long morning hike. Afternoon tea and breakfast were included with our stay. Both were delightful and the food outstanding. For breakfast we went with the omlette (perfectly cooked and fluffy, certainly on my top 5 list of omlettes anywhere... trust me a great omlette is hard to find) and blueberry pancakes which were served with a lovely lemony whipped butter/cream type topping. To top it all off were the house made bacon chedde scones, berry muffins and a lovely concord grape jelly made with grapes grown on the property. We ended up falling on love with a particular kind of tea that they served and the staff was so kind as to give us a generous stack of same as a sendoff. For dinner we orginally had reservations upstairs but after a lovely afternoon chatting with bartender Doug (and a tour of the wine cellar) over drinks we opted to eat at Tracks instead. Service was a little slow. I mean overall the timing for food was right (we very much appreciate places that leave you time in between courses, slow dinner is totally the way to go for conversation and maximal enjoyment of the food itself) but in terms of getting our intial orders in and our drinks refilled it was very slow. Everything we ordered (Duck Rillettes, the procuitto plate, sweet potato coconut soup) was fantastic, however, we did feel like everything on the menu was "coated in oil" and do wish there were some lighter fare offered. Everything was fried or marinated in oil or served with a heavy sauce. The staff let us order off the menu a plate of steamed veggies and raw oyesters to round out our meal, which turned out to be absolutely perfect. Anyways, it was a great way to round out our trip to Vermont and we will definitely be stying at The Pitcher Inn next time we're in the area.

Yelp
Food, decor, ambience, absolutely perfect. The staff really needs to get over themselves, as it is just a great dining experience. It is great to see this place as the backbone of Warren Village, as most of the town is in decay and disrepair, but this gem of a building more than makes up for it. The downstairs is also another gem of a place, the woodwork, stonework and everything more than shows the level of effort given to making such a nice place work.

Yelp
The food, ambience and service are absolutely first rate. This is Vermont dining at its best. Tracks is the more informal bar area more suitable for children.

Yelp
While the Pitcher Inn itself is a lovely place in a wonderful setting, this review is really for the top-notch customer service. Ari and Siobonne, and the Pitcher Inn team really go above and beyond to ensure their guests are truly pleased with their stay - and if anything is amiss, it's corrected immediately. Customer service really doesn't get any more personal, friendly, or simply more down-right amazing than this, folks. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Perfect place in Warren, VT. Spent two nights in the Calvin Coolidge room, staff was superb and accommodating. Had dinner in the dining room- wonderful fresh fish and salads, had dinner the following night in the bar- great fish and chips and delicious cocktails. Bar has a nice pool table, fireplace, good vibe. Reservations recommended- even for seating at the bar.
