A walk‑up Riverside Park favorite dedicated to New Haven–style apizza—thin, charred, and chewy. Hours are limited, but devotees swear by it. Noted by local press for defining the style in Broward.

Lived in New Haven for years. New Haven style and easily the best pie I have eaten in south florida. Really delicious. Thin, tasty, Great ingredients. Also very reasonably priced. A gem in Fort Lauderdale. Will be returning regularly. People complaining about the char need to understand that the charred crust is part of New Haven style.

Google
Pizza is LEGIT at-least the cheese. All we got. Comparable to NY/CT … honestly better than alot of spots up there too. 5 minutes from downtown FTL but feels like you’re in a quiet town small neighborhood.

Miguel Garcia

Google
I was told to go due to the good pizza but honestly it was just mostly burnt, the garlic bread was interesting and liked it more

Google
Fantastic pie and holds true to New Haven culture. Thanks for bringing a slice of home to south Florida!

Google
I usually don’t write reviews but feel it necessary in this case. $3.50 for a slice of pizza in 2025 is unheard of. Especially when this is the BEST PIZZA IN FT LAUDERDALE. Sitting in a really cool location in a classic neighborhood, outdoor seating, window service, craft beers, great staff and owner. My now go to spot. I’ll say it again- BEST PIZZA IN FT LAUDERDALE!!

Michael Goolst

Google
Best Pizza in Fort Lauderdale hands down. Super chill spot with outdoor seating smack dab in the Sail Boat Bend neighborhood. Highly recommend trying them out. May close early so call before heading over.

Google
Small pizza place in the neighborhood. I felt like getting pizza at a different place after working a market and went here. I ordered a large cheese and a large pepperoni and mushroom with a very nice person that I spoke to on the phone. Nice outdoor eating area. The pizza was good good dough tasted great good sauce you can taste it a little bit of garlic and if you like spice the pepperoni and mushroom definitely are a little bit spicy but they're great. The taste of the sauce the taste of the cheese and all the ingredients were first class. Will probably come back again even though I live 15 miles away.

Google
Easy ordering system. Cute bar across the street while you wait for your pie. Crust is perfectly charred and crispy. Sauce is hearty with a touch of some spice. Meatballs are unreal. This is a hidden neighborhood gem.

Yelp
Hands down the best New Haven-style pizza around! The crust is that perfect balance of crispy and chewy, and the flavor is just incredible. It's a spot that feels family-friendly and welcoming, making it easy to bring everyone along for a great meal. Our go-tos are the BBQ chicken, Buffalo chicken, and classic cheese--each one hits the spot every single time. The toppings are generous, the sauce has amazing flavor, and you can tell everything is made with care. If you're craving true New Haven-style pizza with a fun, casual atmosphere, this place is unbeatable. Definitely a family favorite!

Yelp
A true brick oven New Haven style pizzeria in the Riverside community selling slices and full pizzas to locals at the walk up window. The little historic one story building offers covered patio seating. We stood in a short line for our highly anticipated sacred slice of cheese pizza while we watched the oven flames charing it to a beautiful dark crisp. We walked with the pizza across the street to the Riverside Park where we graciously chomped on the large slice which had an unknown peppery kick. If you are a pizza hater then they offer several sub sandwich options. Great pizza shop but may be difficult to find the first go around.

Yelp
It is April Fools Day. And you would be a fool not to visit The Pizza Spot! We never heard of New Haven Style pizza. So after seeing The Pizza Spot a couple of times while in the neighborhood, AND reading its YELP reviews, we knew we had to go place an order there. Just an FYI, The Pizza Spot is closed from 2:30PM-3:30PM. Located in a secluded area in an neighborhood with homes ranging from a few hundreds of thousands to $3M-$4M ones on the waterfront, possibly more, The Pizza Spot truly seems out of place. But there are a few small businesses in the area that seem out of place, so its the norm. There is ample seating outside for a lunch rush, families, and group of friends. Outside is covered to protected you from the Florida sun or rain. The tables are set neatly and stocked with salt, peppercorn grinders, and napkins. As far as service is goes, you would be a fool not to give the staff five stars! Not only are the lady and gentleman there polite and personable--they are fast! You will wait longer for a simple order from a big chain pizza location. And those places have an army on duty, far beyond two!!! We were more than pleased with our order. New Haven Style pizza is thin crust. This is, in our opinion, the best way to fully enjoy a pizza. We learned that long ago from a former manager when he protested against regular crust. Hey, we want to eat pizza and enjoy its toppings. If we wanted mostly bread, we would order garlic rolls or garlic bread, the latter, The Pizza Spot has on its menu. Or we would just scarf down the bread a server brings with an order. Alright, the ball is in your court. Now bounce over to The Pizza Place, and enjoy an amazing place with an amazing staff who makes amazing food!

Yelp
Delicious! This spot came up as soon as I opened my Yelp app today. I shared it with my husband and we decided to check it out. Great location, parking, and delicious food. We got the meatballs to start. The sauce was delicious but the actual meatballs were salty. Now for the pizza. We got the regular and margarita. I loved both but would probably go for the regular next time. Prices are super competitive. Service was great and ambiance is super chill and you have to be okay with outside seating only. Will be back for sure!

Yelp
Another trip to the Pizza Spot in Davie. It's not easy to navigate so use your GPS. But once you're there, it's all covered outside seating. You order at the window. Very friendly owner. Pizza is New Haven style. Never had a bad pizza there. The latest order was with meatball. Always on par and delicious. Love the char thin crust. This is a must try.
google avatar

David A.

Yelp
Really great pizza. Owner took our order. Very friendly guy. Serious about the pizza as you would hope. Pizza came out in under 10 minutes. Fantastic New Haven style apizza char and all. Modestly priced. Some of the best pizza around for sure. A local gem! We will be returning.

Yelp
Great little spot in the Riverside community serving the local people slices and full pizza. The pizza was wonderfully cooked well done and the crust was crunchy exactly how my hubby and I enjoy it. They have a covered patio with several tables but chose to eat across the street at the Riverside Market with a cold craft beer.

Yelp
Best pizza I've had outside CT/NY and honestly better than most spots up there. Atleast for a plain. 9/10

Jeff T.

Yelp
Great pizza and cheese bread too! No dine in seating so sit outside on one of their tables or take it home.
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic pie at the Pizza Spot! Tried the pizza spot yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. The name suits it quite well as it's a walk up window only but it has plenty of outdoor seating, covered and uncovered. I ordered a pepperoni and it was great. The flavor was amazing! Super flavorful, the sauce was fantastic. I'm pretty sure I tasted bites or hints of garlic which was great. The crunch wasn't immaculate, some people might give it a lower score for that, but to me it hit the sweet spot of firm enough to not be soggy but not so firm that it scrapes up the roof of my mouth. Highly recommend for anyone in the Fort Lauderdale area!

T R.

Yelp
Fantastic place. Everything home made. You can even get a single slice. Phenomenal neighborhood business!

Yelp
Delish!! We love this small place, service is prompt and nice small area to eat and parking is easy

Yelp
Best pizza in south Florida by far. Been all over. It's New Havenesque for sure. Never had a bad pizza here

Yelp
O man ; looks like I may have found my new pizza spot ; had take out pizza and it was great ! - have to give it another try to confirm this since I like consistency . Overall though the pizza was spot on - had the pepperoni and the margarita , and both were thin crust , fresh and also good price . Will be back again !

Yelp
This pizzeria is a must try, not on a main road and a very nice spot. The pizza was delicious it had a great char no flop & it wasn't heavy. 7.9

Malari E.

Yelp
Good pizza and not too terribly expensive. Love the convenience of it being situated inside the neighborhood. Only downside is that sitting outside can be tough sometimes in the south Florida heat.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
My favorite pizza in the area. Great crust and choice of toppings. Love the cherry peppers most of all! Laid back neighborhood vibe. Outdoor seating only. I see people here with their kids a lot because they can run around in the back. Same friendly woman at the window taking orders. Only complaint is that the hours are a bit unreliable.

Yelp
Our friend invited us to lunch and told us about this Pizza Spot he likes. We are always up to going somewhere new and we are always up to supporting local businesses. First off, we Wazed our way there. The first thought is, is Waze wrong? Nope. The Pizza Spot is located in a very residential area so it can look like you're lost. You're not! The menu is limited - which is okay. It's perfect. They have sandwiches and pizza. Everything comes as if it is to go. We only had pizza but we saw some tables around us that had sandwiches and we will be back to try that! To order you go to the window - place your order - and they call your name when it's ready. They have a small covered area with tables and fans and also there is a large picnic area as well. The restaurant is dog friendly too! We had a pizza with artichoke, mushrooms & onions. The pizzas was perfectly cooked and delicious! We will definitely head back to try to sandwiches and introduce our daughter to their delicious pizza!
google avatar

Yelp
Really good new haven style apizza!!! Crust is slightly different than up north, but overall the flavors and taste are on point. The people working there are super nice. The restaurant is nestled in a residential area and off the beaten path but definitely worth the trek. They have covered outdoor seating and sell slices in addition to whole pizzas, sandwiches, etc. Definitely check it out!

Yelp
Pizza was delicious.Perfectly charred crisp crust.Best I've had in Ft. Lauderdale.Sauce has a nice tang.

Yelp
Stopped in the neighborhood for a few days and we stumbled upon this gem. Great New Haven style pizza. You won't be disappointed. It's take out of eat out only, but you are in Florida so it's not an issue!

Yelp
Had heard really good reviews about this place and looked at their Instagram page and decided to take a shot. It was really hard to find, but wow was it worth it. It's New Haven style, thin and light. It's definitely not New York style because it's charred and much lighter so if you like New York style, you may not like this but I really enjoyed it. You can eat much more of this. It's not as heavy as New York style, it's a walk upplace where you eat outside and the owners are from New Haven. It is clean and well kept and no nonsense place. Highly recommended 4.5 stars some of the best pizza I've had in South Florida.

Yelp
Cool neighborhood pizza joint. Very good pizza. Places to eat outside. Probably my fave pie in that area.

Yelp
I definitely enjoy the New Haven touch. The cheese pizza was very good. Definitely one of our top pizza spots in ftl

Clint W.

Yelp
Love the New Haven style pizza. Well done! Service is friendly and knowledgeable. We always recommend to all of our guests.

Yelp
HORRIBLE customer service! Never again. Burnt af pizza, trying to tell me it was "charred," it was black, hard as rock, and inedible. How do you mess up a cheese pizza and a caesar salad? And they had the audacity to get mad at the return. Ridiculous. Waste of money and time.

Yelp
I love this Pizza . I'll be calling in for a pie tonight !!! I haven't had a bad pie, not once . One of the best Pizza spots ( no pun intended) in So Flo

Jim M.

Yelp
I will never go to Pizza Spot again in Riverside park. I was treated incredibly rudely by the man making the pizza. I'm assuming he's the owner. I'm almost 57 years old, ordering pizza since a teenager. Never in my life did I expect to have a problem ordering a large pie. Unbeknownst to me they serve a plain pie with no cheese. I called and ordered a plain pie for pickup, after picking up the pie and driving back home opened the box and its crust with sauce . Tried calling no answer, drove back and politely asked why there is no cheese. Smugly the guy behind the window says look at our menu. Again, politely I asked him to add cheese. He says you'll have to pay for a new pie. I was shocked that he would not rectify the situation. I explained I lived in the neighborhood and have frequented the restaurant since they opened. He said he didn't care and slammed and locked the window. Everyone should know what an a__hole this guy is. I would suggest to everyone to avoid this place. There are many better alternatives. They will never get my business again!

Yelp
It's a dive! And I love a dive! It's in a place you wouldn't expect to find it. It's located in the middle of a residential area in Ft. Lauderdale. There's a little covered patio with some tables and a large outdoor area with picnic tables. It would be a perfect spot to have a child's birthday party. I'm guessing that during the day, there is little or no table service since you ordered and picked up from a walk-up window. We only had pizza, but the subs at the next table looked amazing. Our pizza, we got it with onions, mushrooms, and artichokes. They definitely didn't skimp on the toppings. It was loaded! Baked in a wood fired oven. It was delicious! I can't wait to go back, I want to try one of the sub sandwiches

Roger A.

Yelp
Among the best pizza in South Florida! The char and crisp are amazing, the toppings and cheese quality. There is no place I would rather go eat a pizza. The meatballs here are also the best I have had in South Florida!
google avatar

Yelp
I dont give out many five star reviews. If you'd ask me why I'd say that, it's because there's usually something to sour the experience. Some thing for that place to correct and strive for. A five star experience is truly an exceptional al around. Yesterday the folks at The Pizza Spot had the stars aligned. This pot had been on our try list for a while. Their hours, weather, location all worked against them. I'm no Dave Portnoy but I do have a spot in my heart for thin crust pizza. Also, I am a toppings snob, I like what I like how I like it. All that being equal, we ordered a large pizza with meatballs. Our only request was no grated parmesan cheese (The wife hates that stuff). The pizza was PERFECT. Thin crust, great toppings, and the sauce was nice and thick. We sat under the awning, and at almost 2pm we were alone. The weather was perfect, cool, a nice breeze and we each had a hot and fresh sliver before heading back north to the Springs. Last night as I went to bed, I could SWEAR that I heard the leftovers calling out to me........ but I soon fell asleep and dreamed about one of the best slices I've had in a very long time.

Yelp
Finding a good pizza place in South Florida is like finding a needle in a hay stack- literally! If your lucky enough to stumble upon a good traditional mom & pops type of place you stick to it and hope that they last for a long time before your on a hunt to find a new pizza place.. needless to say this is without a doubt one of my new fav pizza spots! Lol Cute small spot on a corner.. nothing fancy or indoor. You place your order outside by a window-find a table and wait until they call you. It's all self service- House Salad with Italian dressing- fresh & tasty 7/10 Garlic bread with Mozzarella- 10/10 ohh mamma mia! Think of a super light crusty extra thin appetizer size pizza with no sauce and fresh mozzarella and garlic! Deliciousss a must!! Pizza - we ordered 2 pies - 1 plain with cheese and the other one had Pepperoni, mushroom, onions - these pies did not disappoint and were absolutely delicious and soooo tasty!! The crust was perfectly thin and the sauce was the perfect amount. This is what a good pizza should always taste like.

Yelp
Northeasterners craving their familiar apizza spots may be finally a-pizzed;). This fairly unknown spot may be the best reiteration of New Haven style pie. From its shape, char, and taste. Until the venture capital chains (Sally's, Pepe's or Grimaldi's) begin to pop up in south Florida, this little place may be a proper fix. Due to limited space and staff, you may not always get the service and atmosphere one would hope for when trying to eat out. The setup is mostly built as a takeaway place with limited seating options. I like my pie hot out of the oven; we ate where I was parked and used the hood as my table. All in all it satisfied my pizza craving.
google avatar

Mark V.

Yelp
Pepperoni and cheese pizza was good. Cozy environment with a walk up window. Hostess was nice, but the cook apparently doesn't like when you're on your phone. Seating area outside, no inside seating. Would recommend, would also recommend to hide your phone from the cook.

Barnett P.

Yelp
The Pizza Spot has excellent New Haven Pizza. The crust is perfect, not too thick or too thin. Service is fast and friendly. Their Vegetarian Pizza is the best. Plentiful toppings. I will DEFINITELY BE RETURNING!
google avatar

Jordan P.

Yelp
Cool little ducked off spot. It's located within a neighborhood so it's pretty quiet. The pizza is good, not great. I would probably come back if I needed somewhere to grab a quick bite and do some work with fresh air.
google avatar

Yelp
Was looking for a replacement of my Favorite Pizza place that closed after many years. This is the place . The cheese pizza dictated that the sauce would be perfect . Also ordered a loaded , mushrooms, pepperoni, onions, peppers and sausage. Fresh and perfect. The girl taking my order was very helpful on the phone and when I got there. Everybody was friendly and festive. It's buried back in a neighborhood but well worth the find.

Yelp
I grew up in New Haven. I have childhood memories of going to Frank Pepe's for pizza with my family. My father had gone there for years - since before WW2. If you're from Connecticut, you were either a Pepe's family or a Sally's. You can tell by asking. And even when we moved later on to the suburbs, we were still enjoying New Haven pizza - a Neapolitan style that we called apizza - and pronounced ah-beetz. And when I heard about a New Haven "style" pizza place that had opened in Fort Lauderdale, I was excited and put it on my list to try. I figured, however, that I'd wait until after Easter or season in case they were quite busy. The Pizza Spot is located over a tiny bridge, past a park, in a residential area of old Fort Lauderdale. Unless you were following your GPS to find it, after having read a yelp review, you would not normally come across this place. I've lived and worked in Broward for a very very long time and have never been in this part of the neighborhood. On a Tuesday at lunch time, we were the first ones there. Later on a gal and her daughter joined us. And another gal stopped by for a couple slices to go. It is not within walking distance if you work downtown. You have to drive here. Parking is around the perimeter. All the seating is outside under cover. The building reminds me of the clam shacks and hot dog stands I grew up with at the shore. You order and pay at the window. They bring your food to you. We started with a small house salad to share - iceberg lettuce, cucumber chunks, tomatoes, black olives, and a pepperoncini. We got Italian dressing on the side to add. For pizza, we ordered their small size with mushrooms and sausage. It came out fairly quickly. There were a ton of toppings! Lots of fresh big mushrooms and chunks of sausage. So much so, that it was hard to see the pizza below. Was it New Haven style? Sort of. The crust was thin. It had the bubbled up outer edge. The dough was close. Frankly, it's so hard to replicate the old pizza ovens that have age and character after decades of use. But in any case, it was an enjoyable pizza. It was even better the next day when reheated for breakfast! We had a lovely conversation with one of the owners and pizza makers, Wade, because I was curious about the Connecticut connection. He's from Guilford and Branford. And he has had other pizza restaurants -- some in south Florida including the west coast (Naples). How did he choose Lauderdale? Demographics! So drive on over when next you're craving a pizza and see what all the hoopla is about. Enjoy the food and the casual atmosphere. And say hello to Wade from me...

Yelp
I was looking for a pizza place when I was in Ft Lauderdale and read the reviews for the Pizza Sot. Basically a pizza shack with only outside seating . You order from a window and pick up from another window. They make New Haven style wood fired pizza. I got a slice of cheese and pepperoni pizza. Both very good. Definitely recommend the Pizza Spot which is kinda hidden, thank goodness for GPS.

Yelp
The Pizza Spot opened at the end of last year in the spot formerly occupied by Bozo's Sub & Sandwich Shop which was here for over 20 years. The Pizza Spot is in the middle of a neighborhood on the outskirts of downtown Ft. Lauderdale. You can see the tall buildings in the distance. Parking is limited along the building. They have seating under a covered patio and a few more seats at a picnic tables in the side yard. The Pizza Spot is across the street from the original Riverside Marketplace so if their small beer and wine menu is not to your liking, you can easily walk across the street and avail yourself of the Riverside Marketplace's vast selection of craft beers, ciders, and other drinks. Based on their rave reviews, my friend had the Pizza Spot on her radar so we met up on a Friday evening after work. The Pizza Spot specializes in New Haven style pizza originated at the Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana. It is a style of pizza characterized by thin crust, chewy texture, and charring from the coal fired oven. It is thinner than a New York-style pizza but both pizzas come from the original Neapolitan style. I am not a pizza expert. If you stick sauce and cheese on some dough and fire it up I am probably going to like it. My friend who is a New Yorker and would know better declared it the best pizza she has had in Florida. This place is tiny and it was full when we arrived but we still managed to snag a table. The customer ahead of me who tried to order walked off in a huff so I knew something was up when it was my turn. The person who took my order let me go through the whole thing before telling me the pizza would take an hour! We weren't in a rush, the weather was beautiful, I grabbed a beer, and we prepared to wait. Since the food was going to take so long I put in an order for the mozzarella garlic bread and a Caesar salad which I was assured could be delivered much sooner. It took quite a while to get the bread and salad but it was worth the wait. The salad portion was huge, more than enough for two to share and the large garlic bread portion was chewy, cheese, garlicky perfection. The pizza arrived not long after and when I asked for half mushroom and half pepperoni they took that to mean half plain chain and half toppings. It was just a minor hiccup but I would suggest being very specific when you order. It turned out the pepperoni was spicier than I care for so I was happy eating the plain cheese slices. They were thin and chewy with a little heat in the sauce from pepper. A Caesar salad, an order of mozzarella bread, a large pizza with 2 toppings and a Corona and a soda came to $45. I enjoyed hanging out with my friend and catching up on the week but if you are in a hurry I suggest you phone in your order ahead of time. The patio was a nice place to sit until night fell and the flying insects attracted to the lights started swarming. They could really use a bug zapper or some other form of bug control. I don't know a lot of places that make this type of pizza and they do it very well so they have a niche. Their small space limits them so save yourself frustration and phone in your order ahead of your arrival.

Yelp
Best pizza at this point around. Living next to recently opened claimed "best pizza from New Haven" in Plantation- we do take a a ride to THE PIZZA SPOT to enjoy pizza. It was cold night when we enjoyed it again!!!

I. K.

Yelp
Cute divey atmosphere - little outdoor seating area a covered porch of sorts. View is of sail boat bend park. Order your pizza from the owner at the window - when it's ready it'll be waiting at the window for you. Clean place and the pizza is the best I've had in the area. Sauce is very tangy, cheese is excellent and crust is thin and crunchy - charred a little in places. I think the guy who makes the pizza is the owner. He's always friendly. The place closes so that the owner can take a lunch break - make sure you check online to see if the place is open before you head over there and are disappointed that it's closed. Whenever I'm in Fort Lauderdale I stop here to get a slice. The sauce they use is honestly delicious. Plus rational/fair pricing still in effect here :)

Yelp
I've been wanting to try out the Pizza Spot for quite some time after hearing a lot of people mention it. After spending the day at the beach in Las Olas, I ventured west to grab a few slices with a friend. It's a bit unexpected in that it feels like you're in the middle of a residential neighborhood, but the riverside market is across the street, and makes up the dining/drinking establishments of the neighborhood. Anyhow, ordered a Large pepperoni and an order of meatballs to start. The meatballs were delicious, served in a pool of sauce with Parmesan cheese melted on top. Taste was so good...I ended up saving half of one for a self-made Pepperoni and Meatball slice. Delish. For those that don't know, this pizza is New Haven style, so what looks like a burnt edge is actually on purpose and incredibly delicious. Outdoor seating only. Non-pretentious, and very good food and friendly service.

Yelp
This place was Bozos for years, a tiny little place, neat as a pin, in the middle of a neighborhood anchored by the original Riverside Market. Now called The Pizza Spot the name is perfect, it's exactly that. New Haven style wood fired pizza available by the slice or pie, a small offering of subs, salads, appetizers beer and wine. We each had a couple slices and split a beer, the bill was $15 and the pie was great. The red sauce is spicy so a cheese pizza slice is extra good. It needs nothing else to make me happy. This is the first day they are open and the service was good. They are building out the lawn area behind with tables, and it feels safe and spacious. Five stars. Great addition to the neighborhood!

Yelp
This place is a dive, but very good and worth the hype! It's tucked away in a cute little neighborhood, you'd really never stumble across it naturally. You walk up to the window and order your food/drinks (they do have alcohol) and everything is 100% outdoor seating. It feels like you're on a friend's back patio almost, just simple and quaint. The pizza is SO GOOD. It's a little thinner/crispier than normal slices, but very good and I will be back. I consider myself a pizza snob, but this place wins my vote.
google avatar

Ryela S.

Yelp
The pizza is great here. I've not hated anything I've ordered from here. I couldn't bring myself to give a 5 star review since its always a gamble if they will be open or taking their phone off the hook to not accept orders. There are a couple of tables if you want to eat there.

Yelp
Wow what a surprise! Absolutely delicious pizza! Proper Apizza style! Crunchy & crispy crust, right amount of cheese & fresh ingredients! Definitely going to comeback for more! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Being from New Haven, CT I am very accustomed to truly amazing pizza. I have searched all over S Florida for a comparable New Haven style Apizza and think this is probably the closest I've found; the owners are from CT and know the real deal. Ordered a sausage and garlic and Buffalo chicken pizza. Both were really good and the crust was totally on point, and sauce was also outstanding. My only issue and I just can't seem to get past it is the cheese on the sausage pizza. Something just wasn't right; too thick, too pasty, and not that traditional mozzarella you'd expect. I feel like the pizza would be absolutely spot on New Haven style perfection if the cheese were different. Not sure what cheese they're using but it slightly missed the mark in my opinion. I want so badly to absolutely love this pizza but something was just not right. The buffalo chicken was absolute perfection but the blue cheese on the side was your average grocery store shelf blue cheese; would love a quality authentic chunky blue cheese to compliment this amazing pizza. I will absolutely try again!
