We had 6 adults for an igloo, a 3.5 year old and an infant. I called Monday, before booking an igloo online and after reading the igloo policies that parties with less than 6 people needed to meet minimum for 6 people at $40 per head. When I called I asked "before I book this, if I have six adults and a toddler and a baby do we need to
Meet the minimum for 6 or 8? Do the kids count since everything says you need to meet the minimum for 6 people?" The guy who answered the phone seemed uncertain but said "just note on your reservation 6 adults a toddler and a baby and you will only have to hit the minimum for the 6 adults." i said "great, thanks, otherwise I just will leave the kids home." He said "no, you'll be fine". I saw the policy said children count in minimums but since we spoke to the guy on the phone and were already at 6 people for the large igloo, and it required 6 minimum be met we assumed we'd be fine.
We arrived tonight and we're seated in the first igloo. It was leaking condensation, was freezing, and had filthy and wet sofa cushions. The waitress offered to sit us in another igloo with a table, so we said yes.
Our appetizer order was screwed up. They never brought potato skins we ordered. We asked the runner he said he'd check and nothing ever came. We were trying not to be demanding so we let it go. Then, we ordered waters than also never came.
The end of the night came, and the waitress reminded us we were close to the two hour time frame, so we asked for the check. She said "you haven't met the minimum of 320, you're at 250." I said "the minimum for 6 adults is 240", she said "you're 8 people, including the kids" (remember one of the kids has no teeth and is an INFANT.) I told her I called before I reserved and was told as long as we were 6 adults we met the minimum and the kids didn't count. She said she would check. When she came back she said the manager "never does this but she compromised and is only requiring the minimum be met for the toddler. You need to spend another $30 so do you want dessert or something?" We reminded her we were at the time limit and she said "well to go".
The igloos are dingy, don't look anything in person like they do on social media. The guidelines seem to be intentionally misleading, and my 3.5 year old son just ate a $52 mac n cheese.
The silliest thing in all of this? They were so busy exploiting the extra $30 that they lost the hundreds we would've spent if we returned just one time.
It's a strip mall restaurant that markets itself as high end until you walk in the door. All of that said, skip it in favor of Pearl River Saloon, or somewhere that values their customers.
