Dozens of TVs screening sports set the tone at this Irish pub/eatery near the Empire State Building.
"When: Weekdays, 4-8pm The Deal: $8 Select Drafts; $8 Select Cans; $9 Select Cocktails; $9 Well Drinks; $9 House Wine There sure are a lot of Irish pubs in Midtown. This one's called Playwright, and it's about half a block from Herald Square. It has plenty of tables and a big food menu, and it also happens to be a Dallas Cowboys bar. (Try not to hold that against this place—but if you do, we understand.)" - Bryan Kim, Kenny Yang, Will Hartman
"The Playwright Irish Pub, an Irish-themed beer-hall, is set to open in October at the One Arts Plaza space. The pub will offer live broadcasts of games, live music on two patios, 50 different types of beer, and hundreds of whiskeys and scotches. The menu will feature traditional Irish favorites including bangers and mash, Shepherd’s pie, and Scotch eggs, along with traditional Irish breakfasts during brunch on weekends. The location has challenges, as noted by the former head chef of Proof + Pantry, due to fluctuating business depending on nearby events." - Alaena Hostetter
