The Plot Express

Wonderful food, it makes you appreciate how healthy ingredients can be turned into delicious food! The breaded tofu was wonderful and the cheese sauce for the fries was so smooth! I also appreciate that the sandwich bread wasn't so thick and let the actual substance of the meal shine.

Fun spot for Vegan yummy 😋 Breakfast Lunch Or Dinner! 11:00 AM-8:00 PM (9:00 PM on weekends).. I get the crunch wrap in gluten free tortilla with jalapeños or the Asian salad! Truffles fries are a must have! I could eat here everyday! Thank you plot for feeding the evolution! 😍

Excellent food and service as usual. Fun little area with lots of shade... Except don't take the umbrella from the Ratt Pack guys surfboard that definitely isn't his.

Wow! So excited to see this place pop up in Carlsbad. We love the Plot in Oceanside and we were pleasantly surprised to discover this new vegan spot. We were only able to try the truffle cheese fries and they were one of a kind and absolutely outstanding! The texture is hard to describe so I’ll just say you have to try them :) looking forward to coming back to try the wraps and the taco salad. Everyone’s good around us looked so good!

Excellent plant based eatery in a fun location. The sandwiches are the stand out choices on the menu, but the bowls are also tremendous. Such a nice setting to enjoy a good meal.

I just love that The Plot created this express location. Excellent variety of plant based options created by their epic chefs!!! Tonight Ben helped me figure out what I could have with my list of food allergies. He was patient and so kind. So gratefull to The Plot and Ben for making my night epic!!! I highly recommend The Plot Express plant based or not you won't be disappointed! I had the Carlsbad Crust Wrap and was so satisfying! Their hot sauce is The Best as well! Has a nice balance spice to it without being overwhelming from someone who enjoy spicy. Also they have The Best water!!!

This place is such a hidden gem! I was starving after some ice cream and this place did not disappoint! Its a vegetarian restaurant right next to Stella Jean ice cream. I also have to be gluten free, and they were able to sub the wrap for a gluten free wrap, which was delicious! The carlsbad crunch wrap was 10/10. So fresh, flavorful, full of color. I would come back for it. The workers were so nice and helped me pick the item. Its a great little date location, sitting out in the picnic tables! Highly recommend this place, then get some ice cream next door!

Food was beautiful to look at (colorful), delicious and moist. Surprised how good vegan food could be, for I have little experience in vegan recipes. In addition, found the gyro, which I ordered, to be satisfying and yet not heavy. Believe The Plot has opened my tastebuds to a new level of experience which I haven't had for some time. And will definitely return to try other options they have on the menu. The service was helpful. Placed my order and sat in a communal courtyard shared by other restaurants; open air seating. And the food was brought out with in minutes. Note: it was comfortably busy, on this weekday (Thursday), but not overwhelming. I recommended The Plot to friends and family.

Wasn't surprised at how good the food is since I've been to the Oceanside The Plot numerous times. I ordered the gyro wrap and it was piled high. I couldn't really eat it as a wrap because it was so filled but rather pulled it apart to eat the pita with the filling along with a provided fork. My bf ordered the cubano, and although he liked it, he said he liked how mine tasted more. The area has some tables and chairs to sit outdoors. This spot does not have indoor dining. There are trash cans to get rid of your own trash, so don't leave it on the table. The Plot's food trays can be placed on the table right outside their entrance. The cashier was having an off day, or was distracted, as she was not entirely listening to my order. I had to correct her when she repeated it back. She also didn't offer to open our topo Chico, we had to ask..

2 entrees 1 pupu. Starting out with cheesy cashew truffle fries that are a meal by itself. A mountain sized portion and I'm not a huge truffle fan, but this was a surprisingly good balance. Chickën Caprese sando the size of your head! Fried tofu brings the base and the bolillo bread is slapped with some tomato jam, mozzarella cheeze and pesto that makes you say yuuuuum! Holy shiitake! Which it doesn't contain but wow, filling for the heart and soul and the tum tum! Then like Bonnie Tyler I was holding out for a gyro, glad I did. The prime cut of the lentil beast with mixed greens, tzatzski, tabbouleh on the fresh pita was the best gyro I've had to date! Nice court yard to sit at while eating. Food came fast like Usain Bolt. Do it!

I love vegan food especially when it's out of this world amazing, there's a reason why this is called express and not like the other Plot. The food is alright at this one, fries are great but the truffle sauce needs a rethink. The crunch wrap is good but mainly full of lettuce. The Chicken Bites are pretty yummy but I don't care for any of the sauces. So some good and sucky things here, I honestly rather go to the other one that's a restaurant, it's better with more choices.

Had the best wrap here today! I'm tempted to say that the food is even better than the original plot, but it's not the same menu so it's kind of like apples to oranges. Anyway, I got the crust wrap with a gluten free tortilla and I'm so glad it was a big portion so I can have the other half for dinner!

We had the Caprese Chicken, the Taco salad, and the truffle fries. Overall really great plant based food in a great little center. Would've preferred less cheese on the fries and a little more flavor in the taco salad, but flavors were great overall

Vegan heaven restaurant in the heart of the Carlsbad Village! Definitely worthy of SD Mag's Best Vegan/Vegetarian restaurant award. Parking Lots available nearby for free labeled Carlsbad Village parking. Service/Wait Time/Aesthetic I went around 1:30 PM for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was not busy at all but the tables are a shared outdoor space with the cottage coffee shop, ice cream shop, and fish restaurant. Outdoor area was clean and had tables in the sun and shade. Wait time to order and to get food wasn't long. Food I got the Harissa Chicken Shawarma ($17) and Superior Crunch Wrap ($13) with the cashiers recommendation of those being the two most popular items. The shawarma portion was huge! Definitely enough for 2 servings or one very hungry serving. The shawarma is chickpea chicken and tasted delicious, it had more of a mushroom texture than a chickpea texture but tasted great with a little of the harissa flavor but not too spicy. It was loaded too with lots of pickled onions, cucumber, and tomato and lettuce with really good sauce. The hummus was also delicious, definitely tasted made in house. The Crunchwrap was also good, in some other photos it looked really tortilla heavy but in reality it was not! Overall, I would go back to The Plot Express and this has made me want to go to Oceanside to try more of the Plot's items!

We came on a Saturday around 4pm. It was fairly quite with ample seating and lot parking. We've tried The Plot in Oceanside, so we were really excited for the express to open a little further south. We got the superior crunch wrap for myself, the harissa "chicken" shawarma for my husband, and the "cheesy" truffle fries for my 1.5 year old. The Crunchwrap was good. A little too much tortilla and could have used some "cheese" sauce in the wrap. The hot sauce that came with it felt a little like ketchup. The lentil chorizo was flavorful and the overall texture was nicely crunchy with the iceberg and tostada. The shawarma bowl was fresh, crunchy, herby, and flavorful. A little spicy actually, but the texture was great. Lastly the truffle fries were thick cut and a variety of crispy and soft. They reminded me of a poutine rather than cheesy fries. The sauce was more like Gravy, but very delicious and hearty. Overall, I would come again & recommend!

Found The Plot on Yelp as we were searching for GF options & Egg free options due to dietary restrictions. This place was incredible!! The "chicken" bites were my pickiest daughters favorite for her to be shooketh when she realized they were plant based. The flavor was amazing! The plotatoe salad (one of my favorite things to eat that I always have to make myself) was so good with a little surprise flavor in there & did just right!! We also had the gyro (one with a GF wrap) all SO good!!! I Will absolutely be back next time we are in town! Also, when the team member asked how I liked it, & I explained my egg allergy & how exciting it was to eat anything there, she was genuinely excited with me!

The area is very cute and great if you have kids. The problem w/this place is the food is just not very good. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito and he could not eat it. Something in the burrito smelled terrible. The price for what you are receiving does not add up. The service is very kind. ‍

Food was good. I got the chicken caprese sando. Vegan but really filling. It was $15 (normal for southern California these days). My friend got the chicken wrap and the cheesy truffle fries. I tried the fries, it was good but not anything special. My friend really liked the fries, but he didn't like his wrap that much. Service was good. Parking was limited and hard.

Nothing speaks California to an eastern shore person than this. Fresh and bright ingredients with lots of meat alternatives in a super cool outdoor space with amazing ice cream and coffee next door! What a win!

The new cottages are such a vibe with lots of great outdoor seating. They are also very dog friendly, with faux grass. This restaurant is located in the cottages. We stopped by to try some kombucha and lunch and both were so tasty and fresh - I got the crunch wrap. My fiancé got a chicken bowl and the vegan chicken was so good and flavorful, he kept asking if it was real chicken. Service was great - very friendly and fast! Our server had wonderful recommendations for us to try next time at this location and at the Oceanside location (both have different menus). We will definitely come back - very delicious.

The food here is delicious! I ordered the harissa chicken shawarma bowl and it was tasty and fresh. I would totally come back and try some of their other dishes.

Visited The Plot Express downtown Carlsbad village location after searching & striking out finding vegan food. Ordered the Gyro Sandwich, good. The best part was soft warm pita was fresh & delicious that held it all together. The lentil gyro was like a slab cut into bars, good but not what I expected. Veggie topping were all Fresh crispy. Very filling, almost too big. if it came in smaller or 1/2 size portion Id prefer that. A little pricy at $15, I'd put it value closer to $10 for its ingredients. Fast service, nice sit down patio. Easy parking.

Service is friendly. All outdoor seating means check the forecast before coming. Crunchwrap tasted delicious, but was messier to eat than I hoped. Fast casual. Parking is limited, because this is a bustling area. Plan a few extra minutes to scour for it.

Drove 40+ min in traffic from downtown San Diego to specifically order an item with LIONS MANE mushrooms in it as reflected on their website for the health benefits and upon arrival they had changed it to jackfruit for whatever reason that is was frustrating as I could of gotten anything jackfruit in sd, I decided to still try it as I was already there and once I got home I tried it and it was honestly the worst food I have ever tried in my entire life!!! Did no one try this thing before? It made me so nauseous it was so disgusting and the flavor profile was extremely confusing and overwhelming nothing tasted fresh it tasted like cheap trash a kid threw together and I'll never be back. I only gave two stars for the employees working because they were awesome otherwise 0 stars if I could. Never again. Giving healthy food a bad name here, yuck!

I LOVE this restaurant. My favorites from this location is the shawarma bowl and chicken nugget side. It is so delicious. I wish they had more gluten free options, but they do have a Crunchwrap supreme that can be made gluten free and it's great. I always crave the plot!! 10/10!

So tasty and soo cute!! The feel of the place is just welcoming and peaceful. Unfortunately, I can't remember her name but the tall blonde girl is always so kind and helpful even after delivering our food!! Will be going back :) ps the cubano is Perfect!!!!

Nice little discovery in the Carlsbad Village . It's kind of hidden . I'm not vegan or vegetarian but my friend that I was dining with is . We shared the Cubano sandwich and it was really good and flavorful . All the textures were right . The bread was chewy but crisp and the pickles were crunchy . I'd get it again for sure . They have a full sit down restaurant in Oceanside. But this one had a cute little courtyard and tables to sit at . Also there is a fish and chips place in the same courtyard so if you are dining with someone else and the Plot menu doss not intrigue then they have another option . However I'd say give it a try if you're on the fence . I don't think anyone would be disappointed. Also they have truffle fries and who doesn't like fries ?

Was a little disappointed at the size of our 16 dollar Cubano sandwich on very thin bread. Their truffle fries and crunch wrap are really pretty good.

Just stopped in today and was great. No line, Friday at 1pm, tables were mostly full and food was quick but fresh. I love the plot and wanted to check it and try their menu here. I had the Lentil Gyro and it was good flavor. Maybe more lentil slices would have been better then the large amount of toppings were leftover with pita but all in all it was good. I tried one of their mocktail sodas. I'll come back for sure. I had my baby and dog and we sat outside in the common areas where other vendors are also like shootz and and ice cream place. I'll be back to explore.

I love them so much. The service is incredible. Truly kind and amazing people. The food is awesome. Vegan comfort food. So many awesome dishes. Love their chicken shawarma, so good!!! They're super creative and tasty. Again, I absolutely love the staff. Also the outdoor seating is so nice. Perfect to do work, have meetings, or catch up with friends. Dog and kid friendly. Glad this place is in the village.

Nothing beats sitting outside under these beautiful Oceanside nights. I don't think I've ever had a more perfect fried tofu sandwich. The flavor of the breading was amazing and the combination of the Capri ingredients paired so well with it. The hubby got the cubano and he was a fan as well. Coming back for sure. Maybe they'll start pairing sides with their sandwiches. Crossing fingers!

Service was A+ and a reason we will probably try it again. Helpful with recommendations. Came out and checked on us after we got our food. The chicken was tasty with a tiny bit of kick to it. The Crunchwrap was unique. Fun take on Taco Bell but vegan style.

Fun ambiance. Friendly staff. Wonderful concept. Price to food proportion ratio is slightly skewed. Very yummy and super creative dishes

Everything sounded great, but the orders we bought tasted too salty and processed. It's so hard to find decent vegan food, so I was looking forward to trying this place, but I probably won't go back. it wasn't awful, but it wasn't great either.

We absolutely love the Plot Express. The people are friendly the food is delicious. Some of the absolute musts are The truffle fries! So fresh and Flavorful! We also love the crunch wrap, shawarma bowl, Spring roll salad, and the side of "chicken"... My only improvement suggestion would be on a few of the salads/bowls. We have had The Seasonal Garden Harvest bowl about 4 times. The first time it was delicious and flavorful. The second two times it didn't have much flavor to it, and the last time it had butternut squash in it that tasted raw/crunchy and didn't have any flavor. Some of the other salads are very over dressed where everything was wilted/soaked, so would just suggest going lighter on the dressing. Besides that, the rest of the menu is fantastic!

I was pleasantly surprised after going here yesterday for lunch. The food was fantastic!! I'm not a vegan but my wife went here and told me how good it was so we went together yesterday and I got the caprese sando with added jalepenos and it was so good. I also got the truffle fries that were delicious. Total bill for the two of us was 45 bucks and we were so happy! The combined space was great we sat out in the garden area and talked and ate and did some good people watching. If you're in the village go check this place out you won't be disappointed

So good! Try the crunch wrap. If you're a dairy free person this will blow your mind tastes like the real deal. One of new favorite spots. Highly recommend.

Amazing plant based food!!! My new favorite place. Ambiance is great especially if you got kids to run around. Service great as well, they were super helpful and made an amazing food.

Food was great and loved it. We recommend this place. Our next try will be the bigger restaurant venue in Oceanside.

We visited today and it was quite busy and seemed like all the tables were being used like a park setting. We tried the Superior Crunch wrap and it was excellent. It was made well and very easy to eat. We also tried the seasonal Harvest bowl and it wasn't at a bowl, it was a salad. It had way too much dressing on it and was very soggy, I would suggest dressing on the side. Also, there was maybe a tablespoon of quinoa and the veggies were mostly onions and not that good. There is a difference between a bowl and a salad and this just missed the mark.

Wow wow it's so important to have good vegan food options, and the Plot really delivered. Sweet little sitting area outside if you want to eat in, and the people are real nice and granola.

All organic & plant based, The Plot will blow you away with the deliciousness nature provides. The customer service and aesthetic is just as good as the food. One of my favorite places!

Hooray, The Plot Express has opened in Carlsbad! After so many delicious meals at The Plot in Oceanside, I was thrilled to have this restaurant in Carlsbad. The food is creative, fresh, and delicious and the staff is so warm and welcoming. There is a nice area to eat outside. I loved my first visit and can't wait to try everything on the menu (really!)!
