New Restaurant Broadway Cuisine Opens in Former Plum Tree Inn Space | Eater LA

"A Chinatown institution that debuted in 1979 and operated for about four decades, Plum Tree Inn was known as a place for casual meals and celebratory multicourse banquets and was especially valued by local families and elderly residents who couldn’t easily travel to the San Gabriel Valley for Chinese food. Its closing in July 2020 amid the COVID‑19 pandemic sent shockwaves through the neighborhood; the restaurant’s long run and emphasis on large banquet-style service helped make it a community cornerstone and left a gap the Yus aimed to fill when they reopened the space as Broadway Cuisine." - Cathy Chaplin

We stayed here a few nights in two separate rooms and from the outside it looks run down as if it hadn't been updated since the 1970's. That being said the rooms were huge, clean, and smelled fresh - until the linens were changed then they smelled like smoke. The air conditioner cooled the room - quickly, which was nice because it was in the 80's the week we stayed. The comforter was paper thin and provided little warmth. The bed was comfortable. The first room we stayed in had a microwave that didn't work, the next room it worked well. Both rooms had dorm sized fridges that keep our drinks cold. There is NO breakfast; only lukewarm coffee. The coffee is fine - for free. There is a WAWA across the street where you can get coffee, drinks, and snacks. Be careful crossing the road it is four lanes of traffic. McDonald's won't DoorDash there but Burger King will. I like BK over MCD. There is a Wal-Mart Supercenter a few minutes away where you can get supplies if you are staying there for more than a few days.

The room rate was increased from $89-$150 per night because of the holiday weekend. The room is clean the atmosphere all around the facility was nice and quiet and it felt safe to be there.

The comforter had so many holes in it, and the pillows had stains on them. The walls had holes. Just a beat down place. I wasn’t able to sleep all night because I had nothing to cover myself with.
