"A Chinatown institution that debuted in 1979 and operated for about four decades, Plum Tree Inn was known as a place for casual meals and celebratory multicourse banquets and was especially valued by local families and elderly residents who couldn’t easily travel to the San Gabriel Valley for Chinese food. Its closing in July 2020 amid the COVID‑19 pandemic sent shockwaves through the neighborhood; the restaurant’s long run and emphasis on large banquet-style service helped make it a community cornerstone and left a gap the Yus aimed to fill when they reopened the space as Broadway Cuisine." - Cathy Chaplin
