The 38 Best Restaurants in New Delhi - Eater

"Overlooking a wide green outdoor space, this cafe serves regional dishes from the rural areas of Bihar, a state in East India. Bihari cuisine is known for rustic, wholesome flavors, as well as grains like millet and flax, spicy chutneys, and charred meats. To start, get a basket of pakoras, fried fritters made with aubergines, potatoes, and onions served with coriander and tomato chutneys. Follow that with a Bihari burger made with onion-coated minced lamb and a fierce garlic chutney. Or try the gol mirch chicken cooked in a fiery pepper curry. The restaurant also has thalis with specialities from the region, featuring chokhas (fish or vegetables cooked to a paste), fried pooris flavored with spinach, signature dalpittis (flattened whole wheat dumplings served with lentils), fried potatoes, raita, and deep-fried chickpea flour snacks called boondis. The place is really very nice. The Potbelly Rooftop Cafe is situated in Shahpur jat Village in Hauz Khas. The food is so delicious. Excellent cozy roof top restaurant, the ambience is simple and soothing with a lot of greenery around you. I had litti chokha, which was very delicious. if you love bihari food must go there. Authentic yum Bihari cuisine they serve with love. You must visit this place in monsoon because view from the green rooftop is indeed amazing. The taste is good, authentic taste of Bihar, a must visit place.

We are Australian tourists visiting Delhi and were recommended this restaurant, and we had the best dinner here. The food was amazing, in particular the Pakora and the Masala chai. The service and ambience were also lovely - the staff were so welcoming and accomodating of us. We’ll definitely be back!

Potbelly Rooftop Café is a bit of an adventure before you even sit down—it’s four floors up with no elevator in sight, so if you’re not prepared for a climb, it can feel like a workout. Once you make it, though, the rooftop setting is worth it for the relaxed, quirky atmosphere. I tried the phataka French fries, which was a pleasant surprise—a Bihari twist on the classic chili potato, packed with flavor. The Maithili thali offered an array of traditional dishes, but I have to admit, it wasn’t quite my cup of tea. I think that’s mostly because I’m new to Bihari cuisine, so the flavors were different from what I’m used to. The aam panna was refreshing, a good cooler for the Delhi heat. Overall, the food is good, just not quite aligned with my personal tastes—but that might change if I get more familiar with the regional cuisine. Definitely a spot for those who enjoy discovering something off the beaten path.

Delhi me Bihar chahiye toh yahan zarur se jaye. Authentic yum Bihari cuisine they serve with love. We had mix pakora basket with chutney and tamatar chokha, Aloo Lalu chop (bihari style aloo cutlets (so so tasty) served with meethi tamatar ki chutney and green chutney, Tehri with raita and oal (yam) chutney and lastly their famous litti with chane ki daal and baingan aloo chokha. Had Apple lemonade in helping this super tasty meal to digest. The only thing which we did not like was the service to the roof top sitting area which is little way out from the indoor sitting, the waiter did not come after serving us the food and we wanted to ask some more chutneys and water but we waited and waited. The roof top sitting area is cool and quiet but they should send the waiters there also in between if customers opt to sit there. Don’t know if they were too busy that afternoon coz we saw only one person who was taking the orders and serving, in that case they should increase the no. of waiters. Secondly, you will have to climb a flight of 4 floors to reach the cafe infact i think 5th pe hai cafe, so be ready for it, achha khane k liye mehnat toh karni padegi bhai. But food is no. 1 no doubt. So do visit.

It's on the 4th floor and there is no lift. They don't serve aerated drinks, so if anyone is looking for a coke or something carry that in advance, the taste of food and Ambience is amazing. They serve portions in a plate. The place had AC and indoor plants to keep you cool during the hot summer.

The place is really very nice. The food is so delicious, but it's a little overpriced. The service was very nice. The quantity of the sabji is platters are very much, that can be reduced a bit. I had litti chokha, which was very delicious. Must try their Maithali thali, it's very tasty. The behaviour of waiters were very nice and friendly. Always opt for mineral water over regular water because regular water had chlorine taste.

Come here if you are craving for bihari cuisine. One of my favourite restaurants in the city. Khada masala mutton and Champaran Mutton were delectable. Fish fingers weren't good. 9/10 would recommend
