The Prime Rib

Incredible prime rib!! The signature cut was about an inch thick, tender and juicy. We enjoyed it with au gratin potatoes, house salad and a bottle of Silver Oak Cabernet. Service was professional and the piano added a touch of elegance to the evening.

Excellent prime rib and fresh lobster we had. One of the best steak I had in my life. Excellent service from the staff and luxury atmosphere in the restaurant. Cost of meal may be high but it 's worth to come in and try. Definitely will go back for sure. Valet parking available. Credit card accepted.

I LOVE it Definitely one of the best steak house in the US I have tried so far. The steaks are cooked to its perfection. The vibe, the service, the decoration are all adding up to the great experience. I would like to come back again!

I came here with a reservation to celebrate my birthday and the experience was well worth it. Getting to the restaurant was within walking distance of my hotel and easy to get to. I was greeted and quickly seated. Kim the server was amazing, they have a pianist in the center of the restaurant who is very good. I had a Large crab cake which came with a creamy sauce as an appetizer. The taste of the crab cake was good, but the sauce really made it stand out. I then had their Maine lobster which you have the option to get with, or without Imperial. The lobster is cooked then the inner-side is removed and stuffed with crab cake and shrimp in addition to the lobster then is placed back into the shell. I thought about adding the sauce that came with my appetizer but was concerned it would take away the seafood flavor and make everything too soggy. Im glad I didnt and just added lemons and the butter that already came with it. Whenever I come back to DC this will be my spot and will look forward to trying out their steaks.

What a pleasant experience. I was in town for my daughter's 25th birthday and wanted to take her somewhere special. Outside of the chains like The Palm, Morton's, and Capital Grill, I'm not familiar with the local steak houses so was a little anxious picking an unfamiliar spot; you know what I mean. The place was awesome, good food, beautiful room and excellent service. Thank you to James and crew for a wonderful evening. The whiskey apple pie was 3D; decadent, dangerous and delightful! GO

Old school boys club restaurant that does not cater to 🏳️‍⚧️ 🏳️‍🌈 or POC. Sad for this establishment to be so blatantly prejudiced. The martini was asked to be bone dry, but came w vermouth. We wanted the Brunello but was recommended a generic Cab that did not pair well at all with our meat. The potato au gratin was drowning in oil and unappealing. To boot the prime rib was bland and flavorless. Enrique made one faux pas after another, clearing our plates before we were done. We didn’t finish the wine nor our meal due to his abrupt and callous treatment. It did not go unnoticed how he spoke of us behind my back.

This place is amazing! This was the first time my wife and I have went here. It was truly a memorable fine dining experience, for our anniversary. The ambiance of the restaurant was classy and comfortable. Plus the touch of having a piano and piano player, playing music throughout the evening was nice. Our server, Roberto, was excellent! Then there is the food; amazing! Literally, every item we ordered was prepared perfectly, and they had a nice wine menu. To top things off they have us an delicious creme brulee to share for our anniversary. We both agree that it was a great experience and we will definitely return.

When we arrived Larry greeted us with the knowledge of who we were and the reservation we requested. A true professional. He then escorted us to our table. Based on my reservations notes he saved this table for us all night. It was exactly what my wife and I were looking for. Then we were treated to an amazing dining experience. Everyone was extremely professional and kind. We started with a single appetizer, the crab cake. It was just enough for a starter. I was instructed to have the prime rib no matter what. And That is what I did. It was delicious. I paired it with Caymus and it was perfect. The piano player added a special touch. He did a perfect rendition on the Sting. We had a great time at a classic American restaurant.

We were visiting the DC area and found The Prime Rib as we searched for a restaurant to celebrate an anniversary and birthday with my friends and mother. This is a classic classy old school Prime Rib restaurant where visitors get dressed up like back in the day. Men were wearing coats and women were in demure dresses, very classy. I looooved the old school grand piano player who was firing classic hits from when I was a kid. The staff was dressed to the nines while providing amazing service which definitely enhance our dining experience. We went family style and I ordered the prime rib, medium rare. It was fantastic. Cooked perfectly and savory all day every day. The escargot was buttery tasty and by far my favorite appetizer. If i'm ever back in the area, I will definitely stop by for a dinner visit at The Prime Rib. Cheers!

Rolling into town, yet again, if you got to eat, you might as well eat well. I turned to my brothers and sisters on Yelp, and The Prime Rib pops up. Why not? A small jaunt and I am at the bar. Monday night, not that busy. I cannot give it a detailed review, not that I ever do, because I really was not that hungry and trying to be good on wolfing down business dinners. But I ordered their chop steak which is foo foo language for big burger-like thing. With onions. Honestly, damn good. You get the chop steak, and onions, and that's a wrap. No extras, like lettuce and broccoli and other useless things. But I didn't finish it, even though I am a carnivore, a pig, and... Yeah, a pig. Don't judge. I'm on a trip dammit! Bartender was wonderful, great ambience, gentleman playing the piano, Monday Night football is on... And have I mentioned the meal? I do believe I did!

Amazing experience. Great ambiance, prompt service, clean and very classy vibe. The bread and butter were excellent Prime rib was good but not the best. Decent flavor, a hair on the dry side. Sherry Mushrooms were amazing. Apple pie dessert was very good but wasn't quite hot all the way through. It would have benefited from a little more time in the oven. Drinks were fantastic, wine was perfect and a generous pour, the old fashioned I got was more like a double old fashioned and was made well. The reason I'm bumping down to 4 stars is the sheer cost. It was good but I don't think it was THAT good. This was personally the most expensive dinner I've had in my life to date, yet some of the less expensive meals stack up impressively. That said I would come back if I wanted this atmosphere and was prepared to spend a lot.

Food was excellent but wait staff and manager nearly ruined my bachelor party by making a 45 minute ordeal when we asked to split a check. We were talked down to and treated like an inconvenience. I expect more from a classy establishment such as this. Will go elsewhere next time I'm in DC

The way it is supposed to be. If you want a quiet dinner that ticks all the boxes ones with a staff that is on point this is the place. Wish there was more like them

In Washington, there are restaurants, there are bars... and then there are institutions. The Prime Rib is simply an institution. Honestly, you don't even need to eat dinner here (I mean, you definitely should, but you don't have to). Sit at the bar, order a pineapple martini, order the prime rib sliders, and order the potato skins. Polish that martini off and order yourself another because you deserve it. Feel your troubles melt away. This is THAT kind of place. TPR Forever.

I hoped this day would not come. Buzz has passed away and The Prime Rib is suffering his absence. I knew something had changed when I looked at the menu--chicken and several fish options were included as well as several other new menu items. The Review by David E. says it very well. I too have been going to the Prime Rib for over 20 years. Always wonderful food, service, and ambiance. The food is my issue here. The salads (side) now cost $20 a piece; crazy. The Potato skins, that I always get, were good, but not as good as usual. It may sound odd, but there was too much potato on some--these are more like delicious potato chips, but with a lot more body. The Buzz salad avocado was hard and the egg seemed like it had been refrigerated for quite a while. The creamed spinach was still very good. The crab cake was wonderful, however, the NY strip was not worth the $72. It just didn't seem like Prime meat. It was a bit tough and dry. Not worth the price and frankly just not good, definitely not great as one expects from a dinner at The Prime Rib. As David says, the prices are getting absurd. An Old Fashioned is now $24. Really? At these prices one expects excellence and I am afraid The Prime Rib is resting on its reputation. I hate to see this great institution fail as a "go-to" place for a fabulous dinner and experience.

This is one of my favorite places of all time! You're greeted at the door by Larry,The maître d' , who is so friendly and customer service oriented. We had a beautiful table near the piano. The restaurant was full. It had a wonderful vibe. I ordered the onion soup and the stuffed shrimp. Both were perfectly seasoned And flavorful. My friend ordered the large prime rib and it was cooked perfectly. We also had a veal chop ordered at the table. The wedge salad, potato skins, and crème brûlée made for wonderful courses. I will definitely be back. It's a great place I love food and service is impeccable.

We had a late reservation 8:45pm but we came a bit early, but service was very nice let us sat down. Indoor environment very traditional but nice. My husband had steak of course, I had lobster was so yum we had a great dinner at here. Love to go back again.

The BEST prime rib I have ever had! We were visiting from LA and my husband really wanted to try this place out. Service was top notch, drinks and great selection of wines, all appetizers and the food were amazing. The ambiance was nice, people were well dressed. Exactly the atmosphere we were looking for. Our group had steaks and the prime rib-everything was great but if you like Prime Rib, you have to try it!!!

Dark interior with lighting accents and art. It's a classy place while piano is live played. We had a private event. The food was all top notch. Highly recommend the crab starter which was a giant lump of crabmeat perfection. The filet was good but I really should have had the prime rib as i was salivating over my neighbors.

Best dinner experience I ever had. From the get go Larry's service was outstanding, felt cozy special served. My server Toupo was amazing, warm genuine did everything before I ever asked. Best Crab cake, prime rib, horseradish sauce I ever had. The pianist was such gentleman, came and told me "it was an old Steinway, some of the keys don't work, it's like dancing with an old lady!" Overall just how the people made you feel and environment was classic! Will come back with my wife just to see these people!

A group of 8 of us came here for a friend's birthday. I was greeted upon arrival by Larry, the Maitre di. The atmosphere was old world elegance. We were not the only diners dressed in black tie. There was live piano and string music. We started at the bar and I got the pineapple martini. Delicious although I missed my usual dirty one I have in a steakhouse. My only complaint was none of our photos at the bar had flattering lighting. We split so many appetizers. The potatoes skins were killer!!! Omg! We got a caviar, clams casino, oysters Rockefeller, and raw oysters. I would get the skins again- that is what they are known for and no mystery why! So much flavor! I'd do the caviar again too. And although I rarely like different preparations, the salty tomato bacon clams casino would be a repeat order. The bread was warm with a crusty outside. The butter was whipped. I tried hard not to eat a second slice knowing how good everything would be. My bone in rib-eye with crumbled blue cheese was perfect. Even the leftovers the next day were tasty. I forgot to get a photo- I couldn't wait to dive in! Sides of broccolini, scalloped potatoes, and asparagus did not disappoint. Especially the potatoes! I'd skip the Mac and cheese next time. The guy who ordered vegetarian lived his dish. The crab cakes were great. The prime rib could feed a small country! Service was perfect.

Easily one of my favorite restaurants in the DMV Wait staff is always friendly and attentive It never feels crowded in here, even on weekends. Love the ambiance & "old school steakhouse" feel Have had the signature cut prime rib. It's supposed to be the smaller cut but is still a huge portion. Tasty & melts in your mouth. My favorite dish here is hands down is the lobster stuffed with imperial crab. The lobster is always cooked to perfection, never too tough. Imperial crab stuffing has just enough crab & flavor goes well with the lobster.

This place is a classic old school chophouse best known for its Prime Rib. Full disclosure...I've been there a few times and always sit at the bar and always order the Prime Rib and always enjoyed my meal. But...it's unabashedly stuffy (men must wear jackets) and the pricing is now out of hand. A standard cut of prime rib will set you back $77. SEVENTY SEVEN AMERICAN DOLLARS. Just for the meat. Add a side and you are at $100 just to come inside and enjoy a glass of tap water with your meal. Oh...you want an appetizer and a cocktail? Now you are at $140 per person. Add a tip and you are now at roughly $170 per person. Is it worth it? I dunno...is it your last meal? Maybe. There are much better more reasonably priced and equally classic spots in DC. The Prime Rib at Le Diplomat on Saturday nights is stellar and more reasonably priced and offers a more dynamic setting.

I had such high expectations for The Prime Rib. Unfortunately I just do not think it's worth the price. The oyster Rockefeller is a favorite of mine and I was barely able to eat one, tasted very fishy. The lobster bisque had no lobster meat. The only reason I am even giving this review 3 stars is because the lobster special was absolutely delicious! Fresh, flavorful and the hit of the night. The sides were also tasty. Not pictured but purchased was the ribeye, pork chops and then desserts.

If you want outstanding food, ambience and lovely waitstaff, this is it! With a jazz trio, paneled walls and huge portions it reminded me of Chicago in the 60s. Even the ladies restroom was beautiful. The food, wine and dessert, all memorable. Thank you for a fine evening.

The food was average, I had the petite prime rib, the prime rib salad, and which was tasty, but had no meat on it, and I tasted my hubby's lobster bisque soup. Our server was a little slow getting back to us with bread. It was a birthday celebration so at the very end they brought creme Brule with a candle and whipped cream. All in all, it was expensive, the atmosphere was dark and stoggy with a pianist. It's a place for lawyers and business people with an expense account. Wasn't my vibe. I'm certain we will not go again.

Still the grand old lady of DC steakhouses. The food, the ambiance, the elegance. The Prime Rib harkens to a vanishing error of elegant dining. Black walks and gold trim, a jazz pianist and standup bass. Fine food. Worth getting dressed for.

This placed is an extract of old America, a reliving of the 50s. I love its class and how elegant it is. My boyfriend and I hosted his birthday at this place and we were pleased with the service, ambiance and food. All of our guests were happy.

There's nothing bad I could ever say about this place. It has a classic feel, the staff are always on point, and the food is amazing. From the you are greeted, to the time you walk out the door you are treated as if you are the only person in the restaurant. For starters try the Imperial Crab and the Oysters Rockefeller you will not be disappointed. For the main course which Double Cut Pork Chop and the Ribeye.

Finest dining experience in the DMV with no competition. I've been enjoying their food at the same since 1986.

Incredible place. We went here to celebrate my 60th birthday and were not disappointed! Everything was perfect from the decor to the service to the food. You felt like royalty the entire time you were there. The food has to be experienced to be believed! I ordered the ribeye and I am not exaggerating to say that it was the best steak I have ever had. I took my first bite and my eyes practically rolled back in my head. My wife had the crab cakes and she was equally delighted. My daughter said the same about her prime rib. The side dishes and appetizers we ordered were equally fantastic. The staff was quick to meet any requests and we lost count as to how many times they asked if we needed anything. The wine and drink menu was extensive. We knew we were in for special treatment when the host was outside waiting to greet people (in 97 degree heat!) and escorted us in. Because of the distance we traveled and favorable road conditions we were there over half an hour early. It did not matter. We were seated immediately. The wait time for the food was reasonable and they were very solicitous as to when to deliver it and the appetizers/drinks to the table. The place was perfectly decorated to elicit an elegance that is rarely found anymore: Dim lighting, tasteful decorations, and all the while a live pianist and bass player in the background. We could not have asked for more. It said jackets were required for the men, but we saw a few wearing only button down shirts. It was not enough to take away from the effect. Just about everyone arriving was dressed to the hilt. You pay for such attention and excellent service, but this is the kind of place you visit expecting the finest. We did and we were not disappointed! Overall we spent three hours there, and the time passed quickly. We left feeling satisfied like we rarely have in a restaurant. The Prime Rib is meant to be enjoyed for special occasions and we will definitely be returning. I'm looking forward dining here again and would proudly recommend it to anyone.

What an amazing meal/experience! Although saving this one only for special occasions, because it is not cheap. Started with two dirty martinis, made quick and perfectly. Could have had MANY. Shared the Caesar salad as an app, then splurged on the main courses. We shared the lobster special which is lobster, then tossed with crab meat and put back in the shell, and the lamb chops. Big curveball as we were dead set on getting prime rib. So drool worthy! We got a French red, forget the name, but it was very light and drinkable, perfect for our entree choices. Ended with crème brûlée and apple pie. Service was wonderful, I loved the overall interior vibe (cheetah floors were pretty cool), even the women's restroom was neat. Live grand piano playing throughout the night. 10/10!

What a surprise! I was in DC on business and we dined one evening at this establishment. When I say this was a "correct" formal dining experience, I mean in the capacity that it checked all the boxes when it comes to a historic vibe, professional wait staff, sophisticated ambience, a traditional steakhouse dinner menu, dessert menu, wine and cocktail menu, and made me yearn for the past. I was very happy that there was an enforced dress code; wearing a suit or dinner jacket just makes me feel like I'm being respectful to the restaurant staff and ownership for the ambiance in which they are providing. My dinner date had the lamb chops which were superb, and my prime rib cut was phenomenal. We also split a lobster tail and steamed asparagus. No frills, no fluff, just good food, good service, good live jazz dinner music, and not overly produced. Very impressed and look forward to dining here again!

The only restaurant I go to for roast prime rib whenever I am craving for it, always cook to perfection. Lovely ambiance with live Jazz music on the weekends and excellent service as always!

0/10. Very bad. We had a large party that the manager did not want to accommodate. Nothing to do with me as I did not participate in making the reservation. I'd never dine in a place so costly ($$$$) that isn't even up to Michelin standards if it were my choice but I came against my judgment to celebrate a friend. The restaurant is a bit stuffy-too many tables in a central part of the restaurant. The food was okay but definitely not worth the price. Someone in my party ordered a rare steak and was given the wrong temperature twice. Our servers were nice but too busy to pay good attention. Finally, the manager? an older, tasteless and unprofessional man - exceptionally rude and nasty. We were leaving and a few ladies rested their bags on the unused piano (the musicians were long gone). The manager and likely the representative of Prime Rib grabbed the few of our purses and canvas to go bags off of the piano shouting that it was very expensive. A respectful, professional reaction would have just been for him to ask us to move them. We weren't extended that simple courtesy and he had been previously unpleasant during our visit. 0/10 would not recommend due to the manager and his short temper. To the restaurant, If you decide to respond, respond with a refund or not at all!

The ambiance was plain and the front of the restaurant didn't smell very welcoming. (Smelled of burned cigars). However, the food was fresh. We got clams casino, oysters, prime rib, and lamb. The food was okay but not enough for me to return. The appetizers were by far the star of the day. The waiters and staff were extremely friendly.

Started by ordering a shared prime rib with mushrooms, baked potato and zucchini for two of us. The prime rib was medium rare and perfect. As was everything really . An absolutely great meal. We were placed in the corner and had to borrow a dinner jacket, so be warned. The food was superb but do not come here unprepared.

It pains me to write this review of a restaurant I have enjoyed for many (20+) years. The Prime Rib was always my go-to place for truly excellent, dry-aged, prime rib, in a wonderfully clubby environment. The environment there now is still great with attentive wait staff in an elegant surrounding. I've generally eaten here 3-4 times per year, so I've got 60-80 meals of experience. The issue has become the outrageous pricing increases over the past year or so, and reduction in the quality of meat used for the prime rib. On a recent dinner (about 6 weeks ago), a fellow wine connoisseur and I ordered our usual: Caesar Salads, bone in prime rib, potatoes au gratin (need two orders as they are tiny), and ice cream sundaes. The bone in prime rib is now $154 a la carte! We asked what the cost would be first because it was listed as MP so we knew that going in, but considering the regular (smaller boneless cut) was $77 I was still hoping it would be worth it. It was not. Something different is going on with the beef quality as it did not have any aged flavor at all and didn't seem to be USDA Prime grade either. I don't care if they show me a label that says Prime, the quality has definitely declined, and I bet they know it. The only beef I eat at home is aged prime that I get flown in from one of the top artisanal butchers in the country. It was a piece of rather firm roast beef masquerading as prime rib. I didn't complain because I wasn't looking for some sort of comp, and I wanted to think about it before I made a review. Having seen another reviewer also note the lack of any reasonableness with regard to recent price hikes I thought it was time to contribute my opinion in hopes this can be corrected. I was in Manhattan recently and checked the cost of similarly sized bone in prime rib at some of the best places and they are not close to what the DC Prime Rib is charging. Also, the Caesar salad and sundae are also priced at $25 each which seems out of touch with reality. None of these dishes were produced by a world renowned chef. With corkage fees (not bottles off their list), and tax and tip, my total for just me was $375. I don't regularly like to spend that on a meal unless it's prepared by a very talented chef that probably has a Michelin star, or the key ingredients are just very rare and expensive. None of that was in play here. There is a difference between being able to afford something and realizing you're being taken advantage of, and that's where I am with the Prime Rib at this point. There is a complete disconnect in terms of food pricing and the quality of that food. As I said, the overall ambience remains great, but for now the Prime Rib is not in my DC restaurant rotation.

I just went to this restaurant and it was impeccable. The wait staff was kind and the food was superb. I got the pineapple martini, the filet, the potato skins and the mushrooms and mashed potatoes as a side. We ended the night with the strawberry cheesecake. Everyone's meal looked amazing. A prime rib was also served and was an excellent showstopper of a meal especially when prepared Oscar style. I will be telling everyone about the service, the food and the experience.

The Prime Rib is the most refined and unique steak option in D.C. Washington is filled with mediocre national steak chains, but The Prime Rib, despite being a small chain, offers a distinctive dining experience that stands above typical steak chains. Everything from the ambiance, to the dress code, and the service distinguishes this Washington institution. Walking into The Prime Rib feels as if one is stepping into the mid-twentieth century, it truly feels like a space that has hosted historic and discrete meetings between important figures for decades. Potato Skins (5/5): These are my favorite thing on the menu. They are huge and crispy potato skins that come with an assortment of sauces. If you want a starchy side or appetizer that is more unique than a typical potato option, give these a try! They will not disappoint! They are better than mashed potatoes or a classic baked potato. Au Gratin Potatoes (5/5): It is hard to go wrong with a cheesy plate of potatoes. These are better than most Au Gratin sides because the top of the cheese is charred and gives the dish a unique crunchiness that compliments the creaminess of the cheese and potato base. Shrimp Cocktail (5/5): Their seafood is just as impressive as their steaks, and I almost always start my meal with a shrimp cocktail. Their jumbo shrimp is big and comes chilled on a bed of ice. If you are not interested in shrimp, they have great crab as well. 21-oz Prime Bone in Ribeye (5/5): This is my favorite steak of the menu. I like to order it Pittsburgh style so that it has a great char on it. If you want a larger steak with plenty of flavor and marbling, I would recommend getting this bone in ribeye. Any of the steaks are going to be good here, but their ribeye is undoubtedly my favorite.

3.5 stars for a fun upscale steakhouse. My wife and I love to check out steakhouses when we get the chance. When we were driving on K Street near Foggy Bottom a few weeks ago and saw a place called "The Prime Rib," I knew we were going to be stopping by in the near future not only because it was a steakhouse, but because my wife loves prime rib! We were finally able to check out the venue for dinner around 8pm on a recent weeknight. We proceed inside (FYI jackets are required for gentleman) and found a restaurant that looked like it was straight out of Mad Men. The walls, bar and waitstaff absolutely screamed class. This was further illustrated when we sat down at the bar and a wonderful waiter came over to take our drink order and walk us through a little bit of the venue's history as the piano man was jamming out just a few feet away. While I stuck to water since I was driving, my wife ordered a martini on the rocks to go along with our potato skins basket appetizer. Unlike other bartenders who seem to either walk to the other side of the bar to make your drink or add in extra unnecessary ingredients, this bartender stood right in front of us as he made my wife's martini. She found that it tasted excellent and was composed exactly as she wanted. After nibbling on the potato skin basket, we proceeded on order our entrees. My wife ordered the prime rib while I ordered the filet mignon. Both steaks (which we ordered medium rare) came out in under 10 minutes. While we could tell that the steaks were quality meat, the preparation is actually the reason this review is a 3.5 star instead of 5 star. The meat was room temperature. While this is forgivable since many medium rare steaks are cooler due to being on the grill a shorter amount of time, the bigger problem was neither steak was seasoned very well. While my steak tasted fine since a quality cut filet mignon is pretty much impossible to dislike, my wife's prime rib was rather underwhelming due to the lack of seasoning. While this wasn't a huge deal since we could take her steak home to cook, it was a bit disappointing for a steakhouse that otherwise seemed top notch. Overall, The Prime Rib provides a wonderful steakhouse atmosphere with a beautiful decorum and top-notch staff. While the steak didn't quite meet our expectations, we will be coming back to try out other food options or at the very least have a couple drinks at the bar.

The best food, the best service and the best atmosphere! Love this place. Expensive and worth every penny. You might also be surprised to know that this steakhouse also has the best crab cakes on the planet.

Me and a friend went here for the start of restaurant week. Aka the time of year I try all the overly fancy restaurants. Upon walking in, the first thing you notice is how much older the crowd at this place is including the pianist. Overall, I would say the food was very good (solid 4.5 stars). The steak was cooked very tender and to the temperature i enjoy. The tomato soup app was tasty and paired well with the bread. The Creme brûlée was good and creamy. Where this place lost points was the absolutely awful service. I know it's restaurant week and probably a bit more crowded but it wasn't packed and I find the lack of attention disappointing. Upon sitting down we ordered our wine and got water and butter (presumably for bread). 25 min later we still have just water and wine which was an odd amount of time to just be staring at some butter. Then there was the water. They only refilled my water once and I had to ask for it. I was so thirsty I was nomming in ice cubes.... we couldn't even get refills on our wine.

We came here on a Saturday evening. My first thought was that this place needs to be renovated ASAP! I love the Supper Club vibe but for me, it's a bit dated. Food: - Lobster Bisque: lacked flavor overall. In their defense, I didn't add the Sherry sauce that they brought to the table with it. - Salmon: was really moist, and tasted good. - Au gratin potatoes: Cheesy Potatoes, How can you not like them!? - Asparagus: Stole the show! Grilled to perfection! Service: Amazing. Jim was an excellent server and had a lot of patience with us. I probably won't return, but it was a really nice experience.

This upscale steakhouse is worth a visit, especially for a special occasion or a self treat. A doorman greets at the front door. The interior has a classic old-school look with leather chairs, white tablecloths, and black panels with gold trim adorned with candlesticks. Men are required to don dinner jackets but are provided one if needed. Music consists of a pianist at a baby grand piano playing jazz classics. Wine list is very extensive. While the menu is more succinct, everything looked good. Warm bread came out wrapped in napkin, and was very crusty and fresh. The sea bass entree I ordered was seared crispy on the outside with just a hint of butter and perfectly cooked and flaky on the inside. The sautéed spinach side dish was a generous portion and complemented the fish well. Service was impeccable and professional at every step. A big thank-you to all staff for making the evening perfect!

Steaks and lamb chops are just average but too pricey. I have had better steaks and lamb chops. Customer Service is also average and I felt like rushed and ignored.

This I have to say was probably the biggest dining let down I've had in years. The food was average for a steak house. This waitstaff provided the most inattentive service I've ever seen at a "high end" steak house ever. Or should I say nonexistent service. I would elaborate but based on the aura of pretentiousness in this establishment it will go on deaf ears. It was evall through their culture and everyone in our party felt it.

Hmm. This place really should do better. I looked at the website for weeks prior to going to find something on their menu. It's a steakhouse so it's pretty much the same menu as a dozen other steak houses in the dc area. I went on a Saturday night. To be honest I didn't eat a thing. Upon arrival I was told that I had to wear a jacket. My issue with this is that I looked at the website for days and there is no mention of attire requirements. Not one mention at all. I was offered an old dingy jacket that looked and felt like it hadn't been cleaned since before the pandemic. I declined and went to another establishment. Needless to say I felt targeted. I do not know if it was my age,race, and gender that did it but it's definitely strange to be stopped at the door when the website has no mention of attire. Needless to say I will never go back. To be honest it looked dark, dingy, and dank in the place and would not have been worth my Sundays best anyway.

I love fine dining, so choosing The Prime Rib was a no-brainer. It's an upscale steakhouse that's been around for over forty years. Ladies make sure you come dressed to the nines. Fellas make sure you come decked out...a jacket is required. Be warned: The dress code is strictly enforced! My first impression of this place? It reeks of pure pretentiousness! Oh well! I guess it comes with the territory. The atmosphere is everything...lavish black leather, white tablecloths, seductive lighting, and mirrors. Lots of mirrors! Add a fab piano player banging out some cool jazz tunes and it's high on the hog heaven! Known for their Prime Rib, I opted for the tasty Flounder Filet with Crabmeat. Buzz's Salad was good, but the presentation was a little underwhelming. Creme Brûlée was absolutely delectable. As expected, the service was nothing short of amazing! *Note: This is my first review as a proud member of the Yelp Elite Squad!

A True Classic from the moment you walk through the door. Nothing was missed in this truly spectacular spot!

Used to give these guys five stars - tonight they serve a prime rib dry as a bone and literally inedible- than instead of making it right they argue Now mind you I'Ve ordered the same dish many a time - congratulations the new owners have destroyed a once great restaurant- rest assured from five or six times a year and now won't be back

The Prime Rib reminds me of one of my favorite restaurants from San Diego - Donovans Steak House. It's got a sort of older classy vibe to it, which I can appreciate, as Donovans does the same type of layout and gives out a similar ambiance. My s/o and I were seated right away. We were given a booth close to the entrance, which was fine for us. We were given menus right away, and were told about some of the popular menu items (as this was our first time here). We both ordered the full prime rib which was approximately $90 - not bad for the amount of meat you're getting. Plus it was bone-in - who can resist? My prime rib came out juicy, and at a perfect rare, which I can always appreciate. We also ordered the house salad, mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach with our meal. In my honest opinion, I was expecting more quantity especially when a salad is priced at $14. I would say the same thing about the potatoes and creamed spinach, as my s/o ended up eating the majority of the sides!! One of the biggest shout outs I had was the bread. It was seasoned with sesame seeds AND poppy seeds. I loved that, because I really dislike the other weird seed that comes in everything bagels (very fragrant... I can never tell what type of seed it is), so sesame and poppy are more than okay for me! It came out hot so the butter (which was also delicious) melted onto the bread right away. I'm getting a cozy feeling inside...it's as if I'm sleeping on a nice fluffy pillow. If that bread could be the substitute for my pillow, I'd allow it. I do have a suggestion though: I came here for my birthday, and saw that you can sign up for their rewards membership and receive a complimentary dessert on your birthday and/or anniversary. While I do believe this is a great way to promote your business, I was not given the opportunity to have a free dessert, which made me sad, because Donovans was definitely good about providing a birthday creme brûlée (my go to dessert). The prices are fairy high to begin with, so I don't think The Prime Rib would lose any business if they provided complimentary desserts on birthdays, despite signing up for their membership (of course, being my first time, I had no idea about this membership prior to coming, otherwise I would have totally signed up).
