The Queso Shop

I was really excited to try out the queso shop that opened next to my regular Publix. It’s a fun, small vestibule with an ordering kiosk and pick up window. That’s it. The experience of ordering and picking up was easy and quick, but the food was underwhelming. The flavors were muted and nothing stood out. We were intrigued by the tator tot options throughout the menu but they were very dense and didn’t add the novelty we expected. I would go back for some quick chips and queso but I’d rather go next door to Yumbii for an actual meal.

I was craving Queso last night and had seen this place in the Publix shopping center weeks prior. I went inside the QS and there was a couple reviewing the large lit menu on the wall, but they left a minute later. Near the menu, on a shelf was a screen monitor to place your order (as well as a little credit card inserter) and a glass widow into the kitchen. This was different. The touch screen was funked. It was having issues. I finally was able to touch and touch and touch to order the Queso w/jalapeños. I paid and that was not an issue. I waited about 10 minutes. The window opened and a smiling fella called hg, since that's all the touch screen could handle and handed me a medium size brown bag. Inside were two packs of chips and the Queso. Of course I ate a few chips on the drive home and they were simply perfect. That was a good sign. Once home, I opened the lid of the cheese dip and there was like 2 chopped up fresh jalapeños. Whew. That was a lot for me. I took out 3/4 of the green w/a strainer. Next time, I hope I can add a note when ordering to have the jalapeños on the side. I will absolutely be back for that delicious special snack.
