The Oasis at Death Valley National Park Hotel

"The Ranch at Death Valley, located just across the road from The Oasis, also underwent extensive renovations. It now features a mission-style town square with a courtyard holding relics from the Borax age, a retail shop, and refreshed food and beverage facilities, including an ice cream counter and saloon filled with Old West artifacts." - Travel + Leisure Editors

I stayed at The Ranch at Death Valley in June 2025, and it was an unforgettable experience. The heat was intense, as expected for Death Valley in summer, but the resort offered a peaceful and comfortable oasis amid the desert extremes. Stunning Location: Perched on a hill with sweeping views of the valley—sunsets and sunrises were spectacular. Historic Charm & Luxury: The property has beautiful architecture and landscaping. It feels upscale yet blends into the desert surroundings. Refreshing Pool: A true lifesaver after long, hot days of exploring—surrounded by palm trees and very well maintained. Quiet and Secluded: Perfect for relaxing, stargazing, and disconnecting.

My husband, 3 kids (ages 8, 5, 3) and I stayed for 3 nights in one of the cottages at The Ranch at Death Valley. The cottages were very comfortable and in a great location. We had a microwave and mini fridge in the room. We liked having a bedroom separate from the living space. We also used the pull-out sofa in the living space. We were within very close walking distance (2-5 minutes) of all the restaurants and amenities (including the pool) at The Ranch. The location of The Ranch itself was close (within 30 minutes with many even closer) to the highlights of the national park. I would highly recommend a stay at The Ranch!

Google
Amazing hotel in the middle of Death Valley! The pool was huge, very clean and warm. The rooms were clean and comfortable with a cute deck attached. The location is impossible to beat being in the middle of Death Valley Park. There are also shops and restaurants on site, making it feel like a campus. I definitely recommend to anyone visiting the park.

Google
We had a good time. It was June so very hot. The staff were helpful and the facility was well kept. We ate dinner here and had ice cream. Also used the pool. Our room was comfortable and the little museum was a nice addition as well. I took in the whole experience with the understanding that I was in the middle of nowhere where the elements are harsh and things are not readily available. With this understanding I could overlook if the paint on something wasn’t quite perfect or a food item wasn’t available. Keep in mind we are in the desert miles from any stores so this is a little different than a resort in the Palm Springs desert.

Google
Really great property for families and kids that want to explore the beautiful area. The property grounds are beautifully maintained. Our family enjoyed the pool and walking the grounds during our stay. The ice cream shop and gift store were also fun. We stayed in one of the villas and it was very roomy and clean. Also recommend going up to the Inn for a sunset dinner on the patio and to walk their grounds.

Google
We had a one night stay here as a family of 4 driving from the other National Parks through to Vegas. The resort as a whole was pretty cool, our room was acceptable and had a lovely outdoor area which felt private. Fridge in room and coffee supplies. Comfortable beds. Good parking. Disappointing to find out that the pool was closed on arrival - very hard when you've promised the kids a swim at the end of a long drive! Also the playground was closed along with most other activity areas. A bit of a bummer considering they then have the cheek to charge a "resort fee" - which you would assume is for use of such amenities on site. We really enjoyed our visit to the Icecream Parlour after dinner - pleased it has long opening hours. Great value for the serving sizes!

Google
Lovely hotel with spacious rooms. Our room was on the ground floor which had doors opening on to a small patio and communal garden. The facilities were very good, large clean pool, three eating places and a large gift/food store. The food in the ice cream parlour and the bar was very good

Google
Death Valley is incredible and we could have spend much more than a night here. The facilities at the ranch were great. The kids lived the pool, which in the evening wasn't too busy (didn't go in the day). They have basketball and tennis too which we would have used had we more time. Great location for exploring sites and trails like Artist's Palette, Dantes View and Badwater Basin salt flats. Our cottage was comfortable and clean.

Yelp
Had to move rooms the first night because of dead rodent in the room. Someone from management reached out to me and refunded my stay along with compensation.

Yelp
Stayed in the "deluxe" room. Two queens. Pros: in the park next to Visitor center, beds were ok, nice rocking chairs on a small patio behind room, includes mini fridge at no extra cost. Cons: pillows are terrible. Shampoo and soap are refillable dispensers the bathroom hadn't been cleaned (not filthy, just we could tell it needed cleaning). This was on us to report it and ask for a different room and I don't know why we didn't. The door wasn't fully shut when we got to our room, so I think they may not have finished the room. We've already booked for our next visit, but I will bring my own toiletries, and my own pillow, and if the door is ajar, I'll go back to the front desk and ask for another room. I've also reviewed the dining options separately, and I will bring my own sandwiches next time, too.

Yelp
If you want to stay in the park, the choices of places to stay are very limited. This was par for our experience at Xanterra concession motels. Small, a bit dirty, low quality. I hate to take the extra space in my suitcase, but when I'm staying at a Xanterra hotel or motel, I always carry a few extra pillowcases. The people are nice enough, but I think it's just hard to get enough staff to keep the rooms clean and well stocked. There was actually a pile of sand outside of our door. You just need to be prepared to have a few disinfecting wipes and extra pillowcases when you stay inside a national park.

Yelp
Perfect location close to most of the popular must see spots in Death Valley. Main hotel area is historically themed, well kept and offers a variety of services/amenities. I loved the porches/fire features with rocking chairs and the saloon. I arrived late to a sign on the registration desk saying "be back in 10 minutes"(waited 4 min). The property is big, hard to navigate at night, and many one way driveways. I stayed in building 900 in the back near the stables and golf course. The parking area near the building was full. The hallways, stairway, door were dirty. Overall the room, bed was ok. The closet was shallow so you could not hang clothes or store your suitcase without the closet door staying open. I loved the balcony off the room with the rocking chairs overlooking the golf course.

Yelp
Oh boy. Where to start. This is the oddest place I've ever stayed. The lobby is lovely, but after check-in, everyone is sent to a parking lot down the hill. You take your luggage through a long underground tunnel to what looks like a service entrance with filthy gray carpet. We turned left and started walking down a long long hallway, and that's when I noticed it: the smell that website reviewers kept mentioning. It was like mildew and sewage, not overpowering, but it didn't go away out entire stay. Our room was a few doors away from a loud rattling air vent. Then the surprise. The room, recently refurbished, was lovely. But why was the box spring completely uncovered with no bed skirt? And the toiletries- the little bottle of lotion was used and 3/4 empty. Towels were all sizes and unmatching. Windows had great view but dirty. Intermittent WiFi. The best part of the hotel was the spring fed pool flanked with wood burning fireplaces. The absolute worst part was the food. There is pretty much nowhere else to eat in the park except for this hotel and it's sister property across the street. So you're trapped. $19 for a fried pickle appetizer. $44 for a bowl of pasta. $56 for overcooked halibut smothered in a sickly sweet and burned bbq sauce. Nasty. The dining room is actually pretty but the saloon looked like a Disney set for a Wild West movie. The itself park is amazing. We had a great time despite this crazy hotel. But I can't recommend it to anyone. Especially for $400 a night and crummy overpriced food.

Yelp
Our recent stay at The Ranch at Death Valley was a disaster. We spent our Christmas Eve there and that day we had no light, no hot water, no internet. Basic amenities were lacking, impacting our overall satisfaction. I called the hotel in the morning that day, but they said not even a word about the power outage. There is nothing around the hotel and the hotel suggested us to drive 1 hour to find another place to live if we cannot accept the situation. Excuse me? You know this situation already but never told your guests until they come to your place and have to drive 1 hour to find a new place? The lobby is the only place has internet and light. In the night, everyone was staying in the lobby charging their phones and using internet. What's more, the hotel promised that they will compensate all the guests but can only tell the result the next day morning. The next morning, there is only one guy at the front desk said they can provide 20% off and repeated 'that's all we can do'. The manager never showed, nor their responsibility. If you would like to ruin your holidays, you are welcomed to choose this place.

Yelp
TL:DR; Recommend going down the street to stovepipe wells for gas and restaurant food. Otherwise stay is a-ok and you can play some epic golf here Honestly it's the middle of a desert with few options. The common facilities are really nice such as the lobby, general store, and outdoor fire pit. Their pool area was a little run down but if it's fresh spring water definitely worth a try for a thermal spring experience. We did not eat food here- after reviewing the buffet option we decided to go with the general store and heated ramen and were pretty happy with this decision. If you have 30 dollars a person to blow on cafeteria food, then this would be a good option.

Yelp
Great place to stay in the middle of nowhere! Room was clean and everything worked Great pool, great outside area and even a playground for the kids! Would definitely stay again Staff was friendly as well Location was good too

Yelp
I understand this hotel is in the middle of nowhere, but for the price and the fact that its supposedly 3-star, I could not get over how awful the beds were. The rooms were dated, and the wifi only worked one of our three days there. I was expecting the price of food to be expensive, but the prices were insane compared to a 30 min drive over to the restaurant in Stovepipe Wells. I recommend camping

Yelp
We just completed a two night stay here. It's now called Oasis at Death Valley. We stayed in one of the newly built cottages by Town Square. Each cottage is split into two separate accommodations. You've got a next door neighbor. For four if us in room 231 it was $491.28 per night. Paid one night in advance. Two queen beds and a pull out sofa bed. We rotated. Hubby & I slept in the bedroom the first night. Second night on the sofa bed. That way each couple had some down time. It worked for us. We were sent an email prior to our arrival that the Wi-Fi routers hadn't arrived for the cottages so Wi-Fi only in the public areas. We had roaming on but 3G network. Slow slow slow. Our cottage included a mini fridge, a small coffee maker with only two cups (we four adults), three sets of towels, and no bedding for sofa bed. The lotion dispenser in the bathroom had no lotion. The shower stall had lots of sand in the corners. Somewhat dusty in the living room. But clean enough overall. There's a small washer, no dryer. We called for another set of towels, bedding, and more cups. Cups - given these tiny paper cups. Smaller than Dixie cups. How about plastic cups? Oh no, we don't do plastic. Although two plastic cups by the ice cube container. My sis had plastic cups. So we're good. Dining options - dinner buffet $30 or sit down menu with steep entree prices. We passed. The General Store - We picked up cold prepared sandwiches & salads each night for dinner. Leftovers for breakfast. There's a microwave inside the store. Cold beverages. Grocery store. Even Idaho potatoes but growing spuds. We were fine with sandwiches after having just left Las Vegas where we ate heavy for five days. Our highlight - the ice cream parlor. Huge scoop of ice cream. Very reasonable. $7 single, $9 double but no shakes that day. Good flavor choices. Opened 2p-7pm. They have a grill inside the parlor. $22 burger, $21 Nathan hot dog. We passed. Check in is 4pm. Check in at Town Hall. When we went in at 3:55pm, the line was down to the double doors. There were two staffers. We finally approached the front desk 1/2 hour later. Overall a comfortable stay for two nights.

Yelp
This is essentially a motel. It's an adequate motel, but you'd pay $89 for this stay anywhere else in the US. Unless you stay in the cabins, the rooms are old and seem untended. Food is terrible. And so expensive! I understand the price gouging because of the location, but it still stinks. I can't imagine they're getting any repeat customers; maybe that's a functional business model for them. The fan and the rocking chairs were broken. The balcony clearly hasn't been cleaned in a long time. The tissues in the tissue box could sand the skin right off your face. The saloon - supposed to be open for lunch until 3 - arbitrarily closed the kitchen yesterday at 1:54pm. WHY. I do not recommend staying here if you have any better options.

Yelp
First off: I'm trying to understand the haters here. Do you not stay in nice hotels? Are you looking for chicken fingers in the dining room? Our room was spotless and relaxing. We chose a deluxe king room with a balcony and enjoyed the tranquility of the rustling palm trees and soothing water features. The staff is helpful and friendly. I get the fuss over the prices in the dining room, but you're in the middle of nowhere in a beautiful resort that has to have insane overhead costs. I had the halibut, and it was prepared perfectly. My wife had the steak and loved it. We had more goodies in the bar the next day. I've stayed at remote places, and they know you have no other choices, so they don't try that hard (I'm talking to you, Ragged Point). This is different from those places. We loved it and plan on coming back. You might be happier elsewhere if you prefer something other than a nice hotel and fine dining. Your complaining is boorish.

Yelp
We are a family of five, 2 adults and 3 children. Traveling with children is hard, and mine are always active and restless. So I always hope the hotel makes the experience a bit easier, not harder. Not the case at all with The Ranch at Death Valley unfortunately. I can deal with overpriced bad food, slow check-in (understaffing), and old dumpy rooms. After all you are in the only place available in Death Valley, and the lack of competition shows. However, waiting 3.5 hrs for a rollaway bed that never arrived and being charged twice at the dinner buffet (after having been told repeatedly that they knew for a fact that the first charge hadn't gone through) really took away from my impression of this place. Seems to be poorly managed and customer service is not a priority. It's a pity, but not worth the stay.

Yelp
The Inn and the Oasis have so much potential but fall way short of the prices they charge. The food and drink costs are priced like 5 star restaurants but taste like dated 80's chain restaurants. We dropped $70 on breakfast and literally had basic 2 egg plates, coffee and orange juice. Dinner was much worse...I've spent the same amount of money at top rated steakhouses. Very disappointing to be price gouged in a National Park. We hope a manager reads this bc we won't be returning and if we do, we'll be packing our own food/drinks.

N G.

Yelp
You can't beat the location! Excellent, centralized spot to easily explore the Valley. The room was disappointing, especially considering price. Not very clean. I wiped everything down with cleaning cloths. One of the in-room coffee mugs still had lipstick all over it. As if it had not been cleaned. The shower curtain smelled like mold or mildew. Be prepared to hear your neighbors' every move, courtesy of the adjoining room doors. Coughing, hair dryer, water running, etc. The saloon was cool with friendly staff. Food was just ok. I love Death Valley! But I won't stay at the ranch again.

Chetan K.

Yelp
Worst hotel management! The EV charging unit is damaged and they don't even care! After notifying multiple times, nobody came to help floor straight 2 days. Extremely impolite , careless management
google avatar

Neil M.

Yelp
Very expensive, but what options do you have? The air conditioner was BARELY able to keep the room cool, but it sure was better than camping in the 100 degree heat. It was convenient to have everything we needed right there at the "resort" so I suppose it was all worth it. The challenge is to find acceptable dining - after reviewing all options we ate at the lounge in the bar and it was ok. I had a bowl of chili (very tasty), a salad (slightly wilted), and beer for about $50. I finished off my hunger by enjoying an ice cream cone at the ice cream shop and that was the highlight of the evening! The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. All in all, it was acceptable.

Yelp
The pool is nice. They do have wifi/internet. The location is good (like a monopoly good.) This place sucks overall. Location alone though is enough to keep them in business. You don't have any other choices really. The door handles are falling off. The refrigerators never got cold. They don't seem to clean very much. For instance the refrigerator was a bit dirty. The worst part of the lacking cleaning and maintenance though, the heater wasn't really working. I checked the filter and it was about as filthy as a filter could be. After I cleaned it the heat started to work but it smelled nasty. It's seriously dated, they just slap fresh paint on. The floors and walls are really thin so you can hear everybody doing everything. The people downstairs called and complained about us, my kids were just playing like kids do. I wouldn't call this place family friendly just for that reason, the floor and the walls are too thin for any sort of privacy. so how about being stuck in a car all day and then getting to your hotel and telling your kids to sit still. Sounds fun right? Large groups of people are gathering everywhere. There's hardly enough parking. It doesn't suck to the point where I don't feel safe. I don't feel like I'm going to get electrocuted from bad wiring or fall through a floor but it's close to that. This place is horrible.

Yelp
I'm not sure why these photos are not showing in my original review of The Ranch at Death Valley. Here are the pics. I spoke to management this week and finally they seemed to agree this experience was not a good one. I hope they follow through with what we discussed. I'll find out in a week or two. The manager even offered his number and asked me to contact him if I had any other concerns. Overall, it's a good place. Just make sure your room & coffee mugs are clean, that the phone is working., that you have extra TP and trashcan. Location 5 star Cleanliness 2 star First manager I spoke to about a month ago 1 star Customer service during stay 1.5 star bc lack of knowledge and attitude from one staff member. No manager on sute until 9 am. Manager and Admin that i spoke to this week - customer service that 5 star

Yelp
My wife and I drove out to Death Valley to check out the wide open spaces. No problem social distancing here! I hadn't stayed at the Furnace Creek Ranch for many, many years. Xanterra has put a lot of effort into upgrading the property. There is a large restaurant/ bar/ general store opposite of the classic lobby building. Other areas are also being re-worked and modernized. One big change was the date palm orchard has been largely moved to the area in Front of the Furnace Creek Inn, across the road. Our room was large, well maintained and clean. A sliding glass door led to a small private patio fronting a large grassy area, across from the pool and tennis courts. We ate dinner one night on the large outdoor patio at the restaurant and the food, service and atmosphere were very good. Prices were reasonable, with a good selection and wine list. When it got cool, they lit a large fire in the big outdoor fireplace. Very nice! All in all, the Furnace Creek Ranch and Death Valley met our hopes nicely for a socially distanced get away!

Yelp
This review is for the furnace creek in and the gift store. As I did not dying at the restaurant. Due to COVID-19 restrictions. The furnace Creek Inn is well appointed boutique ranch style hotel option. I recommend it, it's located obviously at furnace creek. The gift store is expensive and has a wonderful choice of T-shirts, hats, glasses, cups, kitchen items, stickers, keychains and any other thing that you could want as a souvenir.

Yelp
We expected more from a national park. For two nights at The Ranch, we felt hostage to price gouging. Food in the few restaurants was extraordinarily expensive. We were forced to buy pick up and go from the general market basically expensive sandwiches and snacks. On a Saturday afternoon the ice cream shop was closed for no reason. The hallway to the rooms were dark and dingy. Garbage cans outside overflowed. And why is there no recycling - with all the plastic water bottles you can recycle alot. One thing we did enjoy was our first floor balcony facing the golf course, very serene in the morning. And the pool was not crowded but nothing special about the pool itself. Very disappointing accomodations but there's no other options except for the way more expensive Inn.

Lydia G.

Yelp
When we made the reservation for dinner it asked were we celebrating anything. I checked "birthday". When we checked in for dinner the hostess asked whose birthday it is and I proudly told them my daughter's. Three tables over the server sang Happy Birthday to them but with us no. Nothing. No Happy Birthday to her. I felt they left her out.

Yelp
This is a unique location for a hotel and they did a great job putting it together. The buildings and rooms are outdated but very clean and considering the area and what we are here for we didn't need anything fancy so it was a pretty good stay. Amenities are pretty decent with a huge pool, tennis courts, min golf, lil museum, restaurants, gift shop and more. Our favorite part is the restaurant and if you stay here you should definitely have dinner there one night.

Lawrence C. K.

Yelp
Room was $200 night. Check in staff good but that was about it. Hallway was filthy and dirty. Flies in room were bothersome. Beds comfortable. Rooms beat up and out dated.

Cameron E.

Yelp
This is the most pathetic excuse for a hotel/ resort I have stayed at. The manager Rick , Forces people to go buy their drinks at the general store when the power outages occur. Which is often. What logic applies here ? You cannot buy drinks in the bar when the power is off ? Hit you can font on the general store and buy them and bring it back to the bar ?????? Walls are paper thin. We could clearly hear the discussion of the folks next to us. Beds are horrible , In the general store , two cups of coffee and two muffins were $23 ! The staff are nice , but when I asked them why they did not notify me Expedia about the power outages , which are planned , just blank stares. Run away from this property

Yelp
Spent three days two nights at the The Ranch in Death Valley. To start on our arrival we went to check in and found that our room was damaged in the flood earlier in the month so we were given one of the Cottages. We originally reserved two Queen bed's the cottage came with one King bed and a Queen pullout sofa. Our only thing was communication. Was not told where to find the bedding for the pullout, how to use your card to turn the power on, AC unit ran even when it was not cooling the room (which did get cold) and our big thing was no shower curtain. The first night we went to the buffet and at $30 per person was not to much till we went to eat. Was not a large selection to choose from and not the best (old spaghetti, southern corn not best tasting and old cheesecake). The next day we ate breakfast in Beatty NV while out site seeing and dinner in Stovepipe Wells (much cheaper and freshly made). I gave them four stars do to the gentleman at check in, Shower curtain and the poor food otherwise it was a very pleasant stay. I always try and ask other employees for simple things to see how they respond and everyone was

Yelp
The rooms were fine but the property over all was dirty and not managed well. There was trash and dirty linens piled in the hallway for the entire day each day. Then at night it was just piled at the bottom of the stairs for the back exit. The floors in the hall were dirty with food crumbs and debris. The trash cans around the property were over flowing and trash was blowing out of them (it was very windy while we were there). The sprinklers in front of our building flooded the sidewalk in front of the exit each morning and you had to jump over it onto the grass to avoid a deep puddle. There was poop on the grass around the building. The pool was okay but seemed a little dirty and not maintained well. The only places to eat are the restaurant, the bar, and the general store at the hotel or the restaurant at the Inn. The power went out our second afternoon and the general store closed and the restaurant had limited buffet food (basically cold spaghetti with meatballs. O sauce) that was left out for $30 a person and the bar had a ham or turkey sandwich for $20 and for cash only. No discount was offered for the lack of quality or availability of food. The options for staying in Death Valley are limited but they can do a better job.

Yelp
Stayed in the cottages. They are newly built and modern. Spacious with a great bed. Clothes washer and dryer are in the unit as well as a mini fridge. No microwave available. Food in the restaurants were insanely expensive. I'd stay here again.

Yong H.

Yelp
Avoid it!!!! This place is really terrible! This is what happened to me around 6pm -7pm Dec 26. The staff at the registration desk is super rude, especially the lady named Laura (at her 40s) at the front desk. When i asked to speak with her manager, she told me she is the manager and no one is above her! And i am pretty sure she is not the big boss of this big place. No real business owner treats clients like that, and definitely wont allow any staff have that kind of rude attitude towards clients. Also the bathroom really stinks after one night! Its another nightmare!

Ron W.

Yelp
Stayed three days, had. Very enjoyable stay. As noted the food is expensive, we had breakfast at the Inn and it was very good and the service was wonderful. We went to the Ranch to look around and it seemed very nice. Staff was very friendly. There is also. General store where you can buy food, seemed reasonable to me; 10 bucks for a foot long sub that looked ok. I took. Picture of the sandwhiches available. The location is really why it's a nice spot, close to all the major attractions. Food is expensive but we brought some food and ave's a little.

Yelp
We pulled up to check in at the Town hall & it is very nice on the inside. Looked promising. That soon went downhill. All the rooms are located at the back of the resort. The buildings look awful and run down!!! None of the ice machines are working, there are cracks in the glass on the doors, the doors don't even shut!!!! You walk into the hallway that has no lighting and stained carpet, dirty walls, scuffed paints and room doors. There was a layer of dust on the surfaces in our room, dirty floors looked like they hadn't been vacuumed or swept in months. AC wouldn't cool room, the room supplied soaps and lotions were all half used if not more. Be prepared to spend $100 or more on any meal, there's only 2 places to eat without going to the oasis up the road. The general store, is over priced crap as well, $33 for 2 coffees, 2 cereal bars, one cup of cinnamon toast crunch. Save yourself the money and stay ANYWHERE ELSE.
google avatar

Yelp
There are not a ton of places to stay in or near Death Valley National park. We stayed at the Ranch part of this resort. We were welcomed super late at night very kindly. Our room was clean and seemed update. There was even a patio in all the rooms. The ranch is definitely the more "affordable " part of the Resort. However, food was a difficult option. Luckily we stopped to get snacks on the way in, but there was no microwave only a fridge. The small cafe that was supposed to have to go options like bagels and things was either closed, or all out of everything we wanted and overpriced. The general store didn't have great looking food options. And of course we didn't have a microwave so we couldn't take what we wanted from the general store. We did one dinner at the Last Kind Words. But it was more expensive than we wanted to spend but we did it anyways cause we needed a full meal at that point. Overall great location, great hotel, but food was a major struggle. If you go. Bring sandwich fixings and things to eat in your own and you may not have a microwave.

We stayed at a cottage at The Ranch for 5 days and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is in the middle of the Death Valley Natl Park & close to all major sites. We always try to stay within a Natl Park if possible & The Ranch at the Oasis exceeded our expectations. You're in the HOTTEST place on earth so I'd think the accommodations would be hard to maintain, however, they do an excellent job. The room was clean and quiet & bigger than we thought. They even had a European washer/dryer all in one to get that sand off your kids clothes after rolling in the dunes. Their pool was so warm, which was great when in the winter and showers right at the Pool. The whole place is nicely maintained and decorated for the holidays. And there's a yummy ice cream parlour with the hardest working ladies serving all of the crowds with a smile & cute holiday outfits. We ate at the insight restaurant and had the pizzas, salad and chicken sandwich. It may seem pricey but it feed us for three meals! What folks need to remember when you're in a Natl Park in the HOTTEST place on earth is to adjust your expectations appropriately. In addition to Natl Parks & cabins, I've been at a few Ritz, the Plaza, penthouse rooms in Vegas, Tokyo, Hawaii, Istanbul, Rio, etc. So you need to again be mindful of where you are staying & what you can expect. The hotel staff were so busy during the holidays but when I ended leaving my medication there, they called me immediately & shipped it to my home THAT night. So thankful! after action packed days it's great to have a nice place to rest your head, hot shower, & relaxing pool.

Yelp
We stayed in one of the Casitas this past weekend. This newly built $100 million renovation was done elegantly. My wife loved the clean, roomy, and elegant decor. I just loved the golf cart to drive around. The palms garden is a nice touch. Their 4 stars restaurant is a God sent(even though it is a little pricey). The swimming pool and tennis courts are an added plus. The Oasis Inn is truly a mirage in Death Valley We would have given it a 5 stars but there was an irritating noise coming from the AC but nothing was done after we called and talked to the front desk

Yelp
We had high hopes for this place based off google reviews. When we first arrived it seemed fine. First we tried to eat dinner, didn't happen. The Buffett looked like old two week old hard spaghetti and meatballs or oily pesto chicken. We decided to try the saloon, also didn't happen. They were "waiting for word from the kitchen" on when they could start serving, never opened. We tried the ice cream parlor who stopped serving for at 4. We ended up making reservations at the inn resort for dinner. When we arrived at the inn for dinner we told them about our experience and they said they had learned that morning that the saloon was already closed. Water pressure in the shower was little to non existent. Customer service was sub par. Won't be coming back

Yelp
The place is beautiful and conveniently located if you want to explore the Death Valley. However, it is super overpriced (because they can). A breakfast sandwich will cost you 14 dollars... for 15 you can have an all you can eat breakfast buffet... The rooms were cleaned and updated. Loved the fact that they had reusable toiletries bottles. There was a 48 hour power outage at the Death Valley and the hotel only had generators for the main buildings. Which means that if you experience an outage at The Ranch, you will take a cold shower for the friendly price of 250 dollars... they gave us a 20% discount after complaints, but still. Beautiful place, recommend it for the location. Be ready to open the wallet.

Yelp
First time in Death Valley and staying at the The Ranch. Overall a decent hotel. Clean room, nice grounds, centrally located. Some things I didn't know before coming: - this hotel, and it's sister hotel, The Oasis, are the only places in the area to eat or drink for miles. No stores, no restaurants, no cafes, etc. - therefore, the hotel restaurant prices are really high. Entrees for lunch average about $20 and dinner about $35. And because of COVID, everything is to-go and served in a box. So you're paying high-end restaurant prices for take-out. - the hours are weird. There's a break in the day when the restaurant is closed and then things are all closed by 8pm/9pm at the latest. Nothing is available. - the customer service is average - not exceptional at all. Two examples - one of the bartenders in the saloon wore a mask, but handled our food and the cash register without gloves; a worker In the gift shop got impatient and raised his voice when we tried to get clarity on a product. My recommendation if you stay here is to bring your own food and drinks, prepare to venture out for meals, and maybe choose one meal to have at the restaurant.

Yelp
Beautiful grounds although the prices are pretty high for quality of room and food. My grandson loved the playground, warm swimming pool and old train. The room was pretty basic, had a small refrigerator and smaller coffee maker. You are able to get a large coffee at general store. The restaurants prices were outrageous. No kids menu at any dining establishment on grounds. We ended up just getting something simple at general store. Unfortunately the last night the power went out thru the entire town and stayed that way thru next day. So cash only at ranger station, no gas at furnace creek or stovepipe. Luckily Panamint has a generator so they had gas and their general store was open.

Yelp
Ok, choices are limited. This is the place to stay when you visit. It's pricey, but it's not worth staying outside in ugly Beatty or being isolated at Panamint. The rooms are middle range hotel quality. The AC works. A fridge in the room helps. Each room has a little porch area to take in the evenings. The pool has an 8 foot end good for diving and staying away from the kids. If you end up watching TV you have all the channels so there is not a lot of deprivation. The WIFI is spotty at best, but you should be out walking around. Especially at night where you have a great chance to spot coyotes and bats. Having the bar/restaurant/store nearby is a lifesaver and even though the prices are high on some items it is worth it. Overall a pleasant and unique experience that is steps above other National Park run hotels.

Yelp
This place is "two hotels" but this review is for the Furnace Creek Ranch. POSITIVE: We stayed Sunday night December 6, 2020 in room 416. Easy parking in front of the this single-story multi-unit building, and a back slider to the back porch with rocking chairs adjacent to the grand lawn looking toward the swimming pool. That pool is awesome, drained and refilled each morning from naturally-warm spring water (Furnace Creek) it was a total delight - open until 11:00am. The new The Last Kind Word Saloon is first-class, very western, lots of good things to look at on the walls. NEGATIVES: This Xanterra is a huge corporation. Our original stay was 4 nights 12/06/2020 to 12/10/2020. The California COVID-19 additional lockdown resulted in an email telling us they were ceasing operations as of Monday noon 12/07. Basically apologized for disruption of travel plans and offered for us to go to their calendar and rebook for future dates. Really? That's it? WOULD HAVE BEEN CLASSIER if they'd given us some ideas about heading across the State Line to Longstreet Inn (where we ended up) or up to Beatty or even Pahrump. Would that have hurt Xanterra's bottom line? No, it would have been endearing... we'd still stay again in Death Valley park at Xanterra at a future date (not as far as Nevada accommodations). Oh, and for a male using the toilet, the inner lid won't stay up by itself. This was the same 2 years ago when we stayed in the 500-building. BOTTOM LINE: This won't be cheap. But very, very, very nice to be conveniently-located in Furnace Creek (rent a jeep from Farabee's - we did) and at such a comfortable motel. Oh, and go on a horse ride there at Furnace Creek... we did that too!

Yelp
We had an excellent stay at The Ranch at Death Valley! Such an amazing place to stay in the middle of this surprisingly beautiful National Park, with great charm and the vibe of an old Western town but with all the modern amenities. The pool was a great temperature and is spring-fed, that's pretty awesome! The room was pretty standard, but you're going to be out and about exploring so it doesn't matter... it has everything you need - clean bed, shower, bathroom, etc. The small patios and rocking chairs for sitting are a great touch as well! The property itself has some really great places to eat, grab complimentary coffee in the morning, etc. and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Stay here!

Yelp
It's hard to be pleased with resorts that overcharge just because they know they have an exclusive location. They also charge a resort fee for amenities you will likely not use (spa, golf, horse riding,..). We booked a deluxe room with two queen beds. When we walked into the room, it smelled super musty so we immediately opened up the back door. Everything could pretty much use an upgrade; from the decor to the carpetting and the bathroom fixtures. The room was also not adequately cleaned. Black hairs everywhere and random Cheerios across the room. The night we were there, we also could not access the Saloon in the evening because apparently the owner/manager(?) was holding a private event that night. We still got charged for the full amount and resort fee though, which is laughable. I also could not help but see the irony in a resort that pretends to be "green" because they put the bathroom soaps in dispensers instead of loose containers, but at the same time provides every room with a Keurig machine with pods. So while the location within the park can't be beat, I doubt you won't feel ripped off by how much it will cost you to stay here.

Yelp
Pros: You can't beat the location of this hotel. It's within 15 minutes of some of the coolest Death Valley hikes ever. The cottages we stayed in were newly built so the rooms were very clean(ish), modern, and spacious/cozy. Also, everything you could want is walking-distance (there is a general store, restaurants, pool, bar, etc.) Cons: The service of this place is bad in pretty much every way. For starters, our cottage wasn't fully cleaned before we got there (there was a used bottle of shampoo/conditioner, and loose hairs in the shower). We also had to go on a scavenger hunt to find extra toilet paper for our room (we only received 1 roll for a 3-night stay) and calling the front desk did not yield results. Also, we had a pretty bad experience at one of the bars where the waiter literally forgot our order so we had to wait several hours for a burger. Lastly, the layout of this place is very confusing. In our welcome email after booking, they told us to check in at a completely different building from where we were (we booked at "The Ranch at Death Valley" not "The Inn at Death Valley" which is separate but possibly owned by the same company). I think I could mostly overlook all these cons if the price of the hotel wasn't SO expensive too. So TLDR: Amazing location, but overall frustrating experience with the hotel.

Yelp
The Ranch at Death Valley was a good family stay when visiting DVNP. The location was wonderful and the pool was perfect when it was too hot for hiking the park during our late June visit. The water was always refreshing- even on 120 degree days. The only drawback was the dining options. Only one restaurant which was pricy and the nearest town was about an hour away. Luckily, they did sell sandwiches and snacks at the general store which provided a more affordable alternative.

Yelp
This is a very big resort that has a number of ammenities, including a golf course. THE GOOD Well-maintained place with several dining options (western saloon, buffet, take-ot pizza). Nice, clean rooms and well-landscaped. Comes across as being very professionally run. Nice personnel. THE BAD A little big for my taste (I am not really a resort sort of person). There are multiple buildings for lodging. And the food options are expensive and seem limited. But I understand that this is in a desert and everything needs to be trucked in.

Yelp
Everything you need in a desert oasis! Remember those old movies in which the people lost in the desert walk through miles and miles of hot burning sand and just as all hope is lost, there in the horizon they see a little green oasis with water, food and everything they need to rest and regain their strength? Well, in the case of Furnace Creek Inn & Ranch Resort you will not be walking on miles and miles of burning hot sand, but you will be driving through miles and miles of desert on burning hot paved roads. Once you get there, you'll find everything you need for the right price! When I say "the right price", I do not mean cheap! You will be paying premium prices for any and everything from a motel room to bottled water mostly because they have to ship everything in from hundreds of miles away, but the Inn is well run and the rooms are very comfortable. There is a pool, a couple of restaurants and a breakfast buffet every morning that will cost you about $10 to $12. Not back considering that it is all you can eat! So load up before hitting those trails! The location is very good because you can make easy day trips to almost all the points of interest in the park.

Yelp
This place was just a big disappointment. When we arrived there were no signs telling where to check in. In fact, there are signs leading you away from the check in point! Once you figure out where it is, hope there isn't anyone else checking in at the same time. There's only room to park one car. Our room was small and very dated. Cheap linens, plumbing fixtures that didn't work properly, no stoppers in the tub or sink, loud bath fan, etc. Just a very basic room, for over $350 a night! I knew it would be expensive and that the location commands a premium but we thought we'd get a much nicer room for the amount spent. How about "service"? We asked for a linen change and were told the only way we'd be able to get that was to call the front desk. I tried calling several times and there was never an answer. The housekeepers said they couldn't change linens without being arranged through the office "because COVID". No other hotel on earth is saying this. How about the food? $33 a person for the equivalent of a middle school cafeteria buffet. Sysco cans opened into steam trays. Minimal options of bland institutional food. There was so much sodium you could feel the moisture being sucked out of your body. Bizarre for a place that caters to a healthy crowd. In the saloon you could get similar food with table service for even more outrageous prices. Next time we visit the park we'll stay in Beatty. At least their cheap hotels don't try to pretend they are premium resorts.

Yelp
Okay people. You are in the middle of the freakin' desert. Remember that. If you are frightened by even the thought of camping (me!) and you keep in mind that you don't have too many options when visiting Death Valley, aka the hottest place in the world, then lodging at the Inn at Furnace Creek wont be so bad. This hotel/verging on motel is the older, uglier counterpart to the "Oasis" nearby, but don't be fooled into thinking it's dirt cheap! You'll be charged for the location (the laws of supply and demand are in full effect here!). Here are the deets: Bad -A baby roach in the tub was not a good first impression. Why do they even exist?!? -the hall way doesn't have ac, you'll survive -tub not the cleanest, old, moldy shower curtains with funky smell -horrible food options - bring your own food! (Sorry Yelpers) -water in the sink and shower comes out hot even if you want it cold, but it's understandable, I guess? -the walls need some paint, they were pretty dirty Decent? -room didn't smell bad -there is a/c (though the air doesn't get freezing it helps with the scorch) -close to everything! Perfect to star gaze! -bed was pretty comfortable -you aren't in the middle of a scary, dark, desert, with animals who want to feast on you (this alone may call for additional stars after all!)

Yelp
I had wanted to stay here for a long time but didn't get a chance till this past November. I was really excited to stay here because the pictures looked great. Our trip to Death Valley was great then we checked in. The front of the hotel looks really nice even though the parking lot is poorly lit making it hard to see The room was all the way in the back in a really old looking building. The floors creaked as you walked down the hall to the room. There was a weird smell (not bad but weird) in the building couldn't figure out what it was. The rooms where nothing like the pictures on the website maybe because we chose to stay in the building instead of the casitas. The rooms where clean. I strongly suggest you bring food with you because the two restaurants are pretty pricey. The bar looked cool but I didn't get a chance to have a drink but looked really cool. There's a general store where you can buy prepackaged sandwiches and salads but they are not good. You can also buy can good and cup of noodles. You will need to use the hot water there because the rooms don't have microwaves.
