An Essential Guide to Eating Your Way Through Alberta | Eater

"The Raven Bistro, situated on Jasper’s main drag, is one of the town’s treasures. On any given night, the bar will be dotted with locals catching up over glasses of wine (largely Canadian) and bar nibbles like baked brie or saucy chicken wings. For a more filling dinner, look to the creative large plates: Think flatbread topped with birria or a fondue for two, served with lemon schnitzel, fresh pretzels, and pickled grapes. Splurge and add blue cheese or truffle oil to your fondue — it’s worth it." - Kate Dingwall

Enjoyed a lovely alfresco meal after a long day of driving. I was up for anything edible and the food turned out splendid. To start, the Spanish chicken wings had a nice spicy kick that paired beautifully with the super sweet caramelized onions. We weren’t sure what to expect from the bison ribs, but they were surprisingly tender and the accompanying sauce was full of flavor. The seafood pot was also tasty, though I wish there was more rice to soak up the delicious sauce. The salad was fresh and vibrant. Many of the dishes had bright citrus notes which went perfectly with our sangria and helped make it a perfect summer evening.

Loved our experience at The Raven. We made a reservation, which was critical – we heard people trying to walk in and told that it would be several hours before they could be sat. The truffle pasta was definitely a highlight. We also got an order of the schnitzel, which was delicious as well. The portion sizes are very generous; two mains with no appetizers was more than enough for the two of us. Big fan!

After a day of hiking and researching restaurants, we opted for The Raven and what a great decision it was! The white sangria was excellent. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and our server Clarissa was wonderful, cheery and attentive. We shared nachos, falafel and wings to start. All were wonderful and the entrees weren’t rushed out. The entrees were 2 burgers and a salad with salmon on top…also all outstanding. Definitely a place I’d recommend and come back to.

It was so good, we went there twice during our three day stay in Jasper. The staff is super friendly and courteous. The menu differs on midday and dinner time. But stays delicious! The Schnitzel and salmon were perfectly done. Crunchy and smooth at the same time. The curry dip which goes with the yam fries was my personal favourite. I could have eaten way more of that tasty dip. I also have to acknowledge the variation of gluten-free options. My sister never had any problems with the food afterwards. Besides the gluten-free dishes they also have vegetarian options. I definitely recommend eating at the Raven Bistro!

Cosy restaurant with friendly and super attentive service. We were seated at the bar and the bartender/waitress was so attentive to our needs throughout the meal. We were definitely impressed with her ability to multitask and still maintain a high level of professionalism. We had the saffron seafood pot and the truffle pulled elk tagliatelle. The seafood pot had a generous serving of cod, shrimp, and mussels. The tomato sauce was flavorful and the waitress offered us extra bread to finish it off with. The tagliatelle was delicious, also with a big portion of elk.

Absolutely amazing for folks who can’t eat gluten and dairy. Lovely atmosphere, great service, and amazing flavors and selection. A must visit if in Jasper. Get a reservation. Our server Cheryl was so amazing and kind. They take dietary restrictions seriously.

We had a very pleasant dinner outside and the service was awesome. They were at capacity when we arrived, with no reservation, and they kindly asked us to return in 30 minutes. It was worth the wait. We had the ceviche and saffron seafood pot which was loaded with fresh seafood in an amazing broth. The staff were all very appreciative of the support from tourists and we were happy to see Jasper on the road to recovery from last year’s wildfires.

Happy with our lunch choice! The street side patio was off the main drag and had a lovely view. Our server was on point in every way. The food was everything we could have asked for: hearty veg, delicious meat, colourful and well plated.
