An Essential Guide to Eating Your Way Through Alberta | Eater

"The Raven Bistro, situated on Jasper’s main drag, is one of the town’s treasures. On any given night, the bar will be dotted with locals catching up over glasses of wine (largely Canadian) and bar nibbles like baked brie or saucy chicken wings. For a more filling dinner, look to the creative large plates: Think flatbread topped with birria or a fondue for two, served with lemon schnitzel, fresh pretzels, and pickled grapes. Splurge and add blue cheese or truffle oil to your fondue — it’s worth it." - Kate Dingwall

Enjoyed a lovely alfresco meal after a long day of driving. I was up for anything edible and the food turned out splendid. To start, the Spanish chicken wings had a nice spicy kick that paired beautifully with the super sweet caramelized onions. We weren’t sure what to expect from the bison ribs, but they were surprisingly tender and the accompanying sauce was full of flavor. The seafood pot was also tasty, though I wish there was more rice to soak up the delicious sauce. The salad was fresh and vibrant. Many of the dishes had bright citrus notes which went perfectly with our sangria and helped make it a perfect summer evening.

It was so good, we went there twice during our three day stay in Jasper. The staff is super friendly and courteous. The menu differs on midday and dinner time. But stays delicious! The Schnitzel and salmon were perfectly done. Crunchy and smooth at the same time. The curry dip which goes with the yam fries was my personal favourite. I could have eaten way more of that tasty dip. I also have to acknowledge the variation of gluten-free options. My sister never had any problems with the food afterwards. Besides the gluten-free dishes they also have vegetarian options. I definitely recommend eating at the Raven Bistro!

This is a restaurant you must visit when you are in Jasper. If your stomach only has limited space, recommend these 2 dishes which won't go wrong - Old fashioned Bison Short rib & Saffron Seafood pot. The bison ribs were superb and literally fell off the bone. The seafood pot was equally fantastic, fresh prawns, mussels and fish as well. Service was friendly & excellent and gave us these 2 great recommendations.

The bison short rib is so good! It was so tender that it falls off the bone, and the flavor had the perfect mix of savory, richness, and subtle sweetness. I also loved the truffle mashed potatoes that it came with. We also got the scallop salad and the schnitzel and enjoyed both dishes!

After a long morning of bus touring, we decided that we needed a light lunch. It was past the noon rush, so the place was mostly empty. We grabbed a table for 5 near the front windows, which gave us plenty of natural light. Our server got to us right away, with waters and menus. The lunch menu had lots of variety, with Bison, Tuna Poke, Burgers, and salads. We settled on the Raven Salad which had a nice combination of greens, seeds and chickpeas. It was a good size portion that they were able to split for us. Had a terrific discussion with the resident/server who gave us a personal account of last years fire and the resulting damage. Lots of courageous people who are committed to the town, and appreciate all the tourist who are still coming to this area. Definitely a place that we would return to.

It was busy so we got seated outside. It was nice weather and seating was a bit too tight but inside had nice ambience . Server was very welcoming. We ordered gimbery bread , really good. Halibut came with gravy and salmon came on a bed of corn/lentil and crackers. Overall food was great. Lemonade and blueberry mint was fresh but could have been a lil sweet . Clean restrooms but no baby changing station.

So good, we ate there twice during our 3 days in Jasper. Great vegan options. In fact, so good that as a non-vegan I was having some food envy. Tip: get there before 5:30 to enjoy a happy hour, sit outside if weather permits.
