An Essential Guide to Eating Your Way Through Alberta | Eater

"The Raven Bistro, situated on Jasper’s main drag, is one of the town’s treasures. On any given night, the bar will be dotted with locals catching up over glasses of wine (largely Canadian) and bar nibbles like baked brie or saucy chicken wings. For a more filling dinner, look to the creative large plates: Think flatbread topped with birria or a fondue for two, served with lemon schnitzel, fresh pretzels, and pickled grapes. Splurge and add blue cheese or truffle oil to your fondue — it’s worth it." - Kate Dingwall

I came here with a couple friends after a long day of skiing was was in the mood for a bougie bite to eat. The resteraunt is pretty small so usually you can't get in without reservations. Fortunately we arrived just before the dinner rush and were able to get a table. The server was super sweet and kind. We seemed to go out of her way to make us laugh, find us more information about the drinks and overall a very lovely person! The ambiance was nice. Dimmed lights with rustic looking interior really helped us enjoy our dinner! The food was good, but I feel it let me down just a touch. I got the Elk Pasta and felt they had leaned a bit further from the tomato flavour I was expecting and was instead a bit sour. I was also a bit disspointed by the size of the garlic bread. I understand this is an upper class resteraunt and not your average boston pizza so the portion sizes will be a bit smaller but I do wish there was a bit more garlic bread to compliment the pasta a bit better. My friends however absolutely loved their dishes and talked about it all night so please take what I say with a grain of salt. Overall I had a pretty good experience and would come back in the future!

The Raven is probably the hottest ticket in town at the moment given the number of groups that were turned away without a reservation, and it certainly lives up to the hype. Food was inventive, sensibly used local ingredients and was very well prepared - the lamb in the three meats platter was particularly excellent as we do not normally like lamb but on this occasion its pungency was well-balanced with the char on the patty and the mint sauce. Service was also warm and attentive. Would strongly recommend.

On December 5th our family enjoyed an outstanding dinner experience at The Raven Bistro in Jasper. Strongly recommend reserving well ahead since it is renowned for its culinary expertise and service. The staff, including Webby (hostess), Sarah (waitress) and Shelby (bar tender) were all so friendly and accommodating. When we arrived the bistro was full. We received a cordial welcome from Webby, who informed us that she would have our table ready in about 5 - 10 minutes, and invited us to make ourselves comfortable at the bar. On schedule she led us to our table where we enjoyed a picturesque view of downtown Jasper with all its Christmas lights. We were just comfortably seated when Sarah introduced herself. Sarah had a contagious smile, a warm and engaging personality and a great sense of humour. She answered all our questions about the dinner and bar menus so knowledgeably, and shared her recommendations on request. I particularly enjoy quality scotch, and was impressed by their selection of 12 - 18 year old vintages. The food was delicious and creatively presented. The braised bison short ribs were so tender and juicy. The standard of service was exemplary, exceeding all our expectations. We highly recommend The Raven Bistro to anyone looking for a fine dining experience at affordable prices, with outstanding service.

Came here for dinner a few weeks ago for my mom's birthday, the place was really elegant, well organized and clean, service was incredible from the moment we got there. The food was really delicious I really recommend you try the French onion soup. Not going to lie but it's the best one I've had so far, I also tried the Truffle and pulled elk tagliatelle which was very good as well. My mom had a really good time and enjoyed the food which is what matters. If you are in Jasper you gotta go try this place and have a pleasant evening.

A little cozy and warm restaurant in Jasper. After a more than three hour in cold freezing drive from Lake Louise to Jasper, we need something to warm us, and we had our lunch at this place. It was phenomenal. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food was exceptional, with unique flavors that we absolutely loved.

Celebrated my 60th birthday here- what a great choice ! Our server, Kristen(sp?) was so personable and engaging- made the whole evening fun- sold us on the soup of the day- ethereal! (Sorry, forgot a pic)- hubby had the schnitzel and warm potato salad, I had the Cajun shrimp flatbread- both expertly prepared. Small, intimate room, very cosy , best to make a reservation.

Locally owned and operated, make a reservation because you don’t want to miss this gem in Jasper. Let’s start with atmosphere. Calm, lovely, classy, clean, friendly.. Service- Excellent- Food -I could write a full description about each dish my friends ate - because the food was beautiful (and yes, food can be beautiful). I ate the ribs and they were outstanding!! So was the pasta, and the salad, and the whole table raved about flavors and taste. I always check the bathroom and it did not disappoint - clean and classy. (If you are in a wheel chair or have trouble walking you might want take out as it wasn’t very mobility friendly) Make a reservation if you want to eat here. I’m sure you can stop by and try but this is also a local favorite so it’s often busy! Final word 10/Yummmmmmm.

The atmosphere was lovely, and the service was excellent, making for an enjoyable visit. However, I found the food didn't quite live up to the price. The ribs, for instance, were a bit dry on the inside, and their flavor mainly came from a light BBQ sauce. I was hoping for a richer flavor profile - maybe some marinade or smoky elements - to enhance the taste. It was a pleasant experience overall, but I wouldn't say it's enough to make me eager to return again.
