Tasty Detroit style pizza. Cheesy crust is excellent. Light and crispy. If you like Detroit style, you'll like this. If you never had Detroit style, you should try this.

Love that Detroit style pizza. The crust was thick, chewy and crisp. The marinara sauce on the top was spicy. It was $27 for a large Mott (with 4 veggie toppings) and it was delicious. They even have vegan pepperoni. I like that the owner from Detroit makes an authentic pizza.

Absolutely the best wings around. Chuck and Sara are the best, they always provide excellent service and conversation. The Hockeytown pizza is my favorite and don't forget the garlic parmesan fries! Two thumbs up!

First time having Detroit style pizza and it was pretty damn good! Also ordered the mozzarella sticks. Only thing was they forgot to give marinara sauce so I had dry mozzarella sticks. Otherwise will definitely return and make sure to check my order before exiting the store

On a vacation back East, my brother introduced us to Detroit Style pizza. We loved it and looked into finding a restaurant that serves it here in the Phoenix area. We discovered this particular restaurant - The Rec - and loved it just as much! We ordered a medium pizza half sausage, half pepperoni. They use fresh mozzarella and the crust was crispy on the outside and infused with flavor. We also ordered Buffalo wings (bone in). They were delicious as well and had a slightly smoked flavor to them from also being grilled. We were very happy with our meal and will return.

I ordered from here based on recommendation from my younger sister and brother in law. I was wanting pizza but wanted a different style so I went with The Rec. I am mad at myself for not ordering from here sooner. The pizza was amazing. My favorite part of the meal was the wings though. I really love smoked wings so I had to give their wings a try. I am so glad I did. Nice smokey flavor and they were perfectly crispy! Will order from here again soon.

Our first time here and we ordered takeout online. I liked that they texted you when your order was going in the oven. It was ready right on time! The only minor thing we didn't enjoy was the cookie was way overbaked and hard and the toppings on the one pizza was a little too extra crispy and borderline burnt. The pizza was pretty good as well as the cheesy breadsticks. The mozzarella sticks werent bad but probably not something I would order again. Overall, decent pizza and we will probably be back. :)

Cheese sticks were an A+ in the calcium and vitamin D it provided or strong bones pizza malts are so core after detroit stars The owners are the sweetest making the service very michigan homey and generous. The ambience is A++ with the cleanliness of the restaurant but most of all the detroit decor

Amazingly tasty pizza!! Clean throughout the place, quick service. And great for hockey lovers. Lots of memorabilia and sports on the big screen. Looking forward to another visit.

Delicious Detroit style pizza. We ordered the Bad Boy, large size, and it was very filling. The pizza had a nice spice to it and the sauce was sweet. The crust was baked perfectly and had a nice crunch around the edges with the cheese. The toppings were generous and flavorful. The folks working were very nice and noted the first pizza was not up to their standards, so they remade it before we laid eyes on it, to make sure we got a tasty pizza. Fantastic customer service, fun environment, great pizza, and a must visit for any pizza fan.

I did takeout so interactions with staff were limited but the girl that helped me was nice and professional. The pizzas were amazing! I'm bummed that I didn't discover this place sooner but I will be back for more pizzas in the future!

It's expensive and not even good not gunna lie my mom wanted extra sauce on the side and thought sauce on the side would give her extra they won't take orders over the phone and just on the app or however it's kinda annoying

Came to the restaurant because we heard they made a great pizza. It was amazing. If you aren't familiar with detroit style, it has a thicker crust and the sauce goes on top. I especially love the crispy edges. The flavors were amazing and service was top notch. So glad we ordered a large so we could have leftovers!

Just finished up a FANTASTIC meal at The Rec - my husband and I split an order of buffalo wings and a Hockeytown pizza (pepperoni, sausage, and bacon) and we were blown away by how great it was. The wings were smoked and then flash fried to order and were so juicy and flavorful! But that pizza, wow. So, so good!!! That caramelized cheese and focaccia-like soft, yet crispy crust was to die for. It was perfection, and honestly some of the best pizza I've had in Arizona. Service was outstanding as well, despite it being a counter service establishment, and we were checked up on and asked how our food was several times (it was not pushy at all). Top notch all around. Y'all are sleeping on The Rec, as there were hardly any people there on a Friday night and the food is worthy of having a line out the door. I'll definitely be back and I'll be bringing home plenty of leftovers!

Today makes the 5th time I have gone to the rec when their web site says their open, the hours on the door says they SHOULD" be open and the lighted sign in the window says open. But yet....their door is locked. How does this place stays in business is beyond me. They already have odd hours for a restaurant but the least you can do is be open when you say you will be

My husband got out of the hospital after being there for five days. We could not go home without first stopping at the Rec. Loves that Detroit Style Pizza.

This was our first time at The Rec Pizza having a Detroit style pizza and it was out of this world! We wouldn't hesitate having a do over soon either. Funny thing is that the two of us weren't that hungry coming in and thought that there might be some left to take home. Didn't happen that way! We cleaned our plates. The service was good, staff was friendly. What more could one ask for? Cleanliness you ask? I'd give them high marks there too. Very pleasant dining experience!

Holy cow!!! I have found the best Detroit style pizza, at least for me. From the sauce to the crust, it's all on par!!! If you're in the area, you have to stop in and have a try. I had the Hockytown pizza, and it was delicious! I'm definitely coming back again. Even took one to my Detroit friends. GO LIONS!!!

The Detroit pizza is point on. The sauce is spicy, crust thick and chewy. Go here for authentic Detroit style pizza, the sauce is spicy though.

This is much better than the original owner. It's a Detroit style pizza place. If you haven't tried it, it's shaped like a square with a thick crust. Very good options. Lots of loaded toppings. The wings are great. Try the honey gold. They also have fries, zucchini, mozzarella sticks, a little bit of everything. Great place to try in the Northwest Valley!

So happy to see they have reopened under new ownership. This is the best Detroit style pizza in the valley, hands down. The cheese sticks are delicious and seemed to be the same as before. Pizza is also what we're used to from Rec. crispy edges, flavorful pizza. Staff is friendly and there's lots of seating with big TVs to watch current sports. They also have a few games like pac man.

Love this place! The gluten free dairy free pizza is amazing! The wings are also delicious! The owners were super welcoming and friendly! Love this local restaurant.

The Rec Pizza & Detroit Eats has re-opened with new owners. This is a casual Detroit style pizza restaurant located in Peoria. They made a few changes. They no longer have outside tables. They now have some large screen TVs playing Detroit Sports, two arcade games, and adult canned beverages. We started with the sliders that they call Slim Shadys. I would not recommend them. Maybe because they just opened this week they don't have this one down yet. (patties were all dried out and one roll was freezer burnt) The pizzas seemed very similar to what the last owner served. The cheese is a nice melty good quality cheese. The tomato sauce is good, rich, and oregano laced. The pizza had crisp cheesy corners. The crust is a fluffy style. Three stars is a positive review on Yelp and translates to A-OK Worth a try.

We love Detroit-style pizza and this place does not disappoint! Highly recommend if you're in the area and looking for some amazing pizza!

Was in the mood to try a pizza place I had never been to before so my husband and I came here! You order at the counter and can dine in or get it to go. It was ready pretty fast! We played Mrs Pac-Man for a bit while we waited! They have a basketball game too. We ordered cheesy garlic bread and a cheese pizza. We were super impressed with the crispy cheese burn on the edges of both. They were so delicious! Only downside was that the pizza had a bit too much sauce and I wish it was spread out a little better. Got ranch on the side too which was good! People working here were nice and helpful! Would def order from here again!

This was our second time visiting The Rec. We come here because they offer vegan pizza options which are very good. They also have regular pizza, wings, mozzarella sticks, etc. which my family seems to enjoy as well. We met the owner who was busy working and we are glad that we got to chat with him. The customer service was good and we always appreciate a small business with hard working people. The ambiance has a sports/hockey feel. Good for families. Seating inside with big TVs if you're in the mood to watch the game. The location is in such a quieter area but if you're not far from them, I recommend making the effort to visit and support this small family owned business. It is on the pricey side, but again, they're a small business. They are not a big chain that can afford to serve cheap food and spend millions on advertising. My only complaint: The zucchini fries need improvement. They were really good but it was a bit disappointing to see the super small skinny zucchini fries on the plate. It was literally like having 5 pieces of fries for almost $5. Most zucchini fries I've had in the past were thicker spheres/slices so I was shocked to see those tiny things on the plate. Tasted good but hopefully that can improve on that in the future. Overall, please support this business and enjoy their Detroit style pizza!

The Pizza was delicious!!! We had a 14u hockey team dinner there and they were on point! The Rec Pizza did such a great job!!

Tried this place for the first time and was not impressed at all. The pizza lacked flavor and didn't taste fresh at all. We paid $75 for 2 larges and some wings Never again.

Ordered The Bad Boy pizza, and all I can say is wow!!! The pizza sauce had amazing flavor with oregano and garlic, and the crust was delicious! This is the best pizza I have ever had!

This was a true hidden gem. If you want to give your taste buds an adventure come here. I'm not a huge pizza lover like my husband but I love a good crispy thick crust. Not a thin crust fan. We tried three different personal pans and they each had a unique combination of flavors that just worked. Chicken wings were very good! The sweet Asian and Alabama white were great. Even the ranch seemed to have their own twist it it. Service at the counter was great. Didn't have much service after. But overall food was very good.

My fridge and pantry were empty of all but junk food. I had the munchies and pizza seemed the obvious choice. Not recently being from here (50 years ago) I had no idea where to go so I relied on Yelp. The Rec had some solid reviews. I had never heard of Detroit style pizza so ... what the heck I'll check The Rec. And man I'll not regret for a sec. This pizza is square and the base is focaccia bread. It is thick and loaded with all my choice add-ons. No scrimping here! The bread was nicely toasted with crispy edges. What an unusual surprise. I'll be back

Went back today and got a 10 piece bone in order of wings. They had way too much sauce on it last time so I got sauce on the side. 8 out of 10 of the pieces were overdone and a couple were burnt so much they were half black. 2 of them were juicy and perfect. Whoever made this batch let them cook way too long. Absolutely not worth half what I paid for them

Love the Rec and am so glad they are back!! It hard to find places that have vegan pizza options: it's especially hard to find really vegan pizza places. (have to limit how much cheese and dairy I eat and until I found the Rec, pizza had been off the menu for me.) Vegan options aside, Detroit style pizza is fantastic and the sauce they use has a bit of a spice to it that I personally really love. My husband loves their wings as well. Glad to have them in North Peoria!!

Really Really good Pizza‼ We stopped in yesterday for the first time and we were blown away. Customer Service is spot on and the pizza is amazing! Its pan style pizza which usually isn't our favorite, but this pan pizza was awesome! Not too thick, crust was light and flaky, sauce was amazing. We cant wait to go back. This place is a must try‼

The wings and pizza are delicious. We order as a family for pizza night. The owner and his wife are wonderful and hard working people. We usually do take away but they do have dine in as well!

I LOVE the wings!! They are smoked and then deep fried!! LOVE the smoke flavor!!! Smoke flavor is my thing! The pizza is very unique!! I haven't had pizza like this anywhere else, but I am native to Phoenix and not familiar with Detroit pizza. I typically like a skinny/thin crust, but their thick pizza crust is the BOMB!!!! It is so thick and buttery and crispy!!! I'll fight you for the corner piece!!! The recent review that said that it was "too salty" might have been drinking margaritas with salt that night!!! This pizza is NOT too salty. I do not add salt to ANYTHING as I am just not a big fan of salt. I 100% disagree that the pizza is salty!!! Heck no, it is NOT!! Bottom line is that the food is really exceptional!! You are supporting a small family business and they rock it!! Service was exceptional and attentive!! I really like the chill and relaxing atmosphere!! You can watch TV or play Pac Man or even play basketball!! LOVE IT!!!!

Yes, just, YES! The Rec has become our go to for pizza since moving down to the area and happening on the place. We drive by at least 10 other pizza places to get it from The Rec. The ingredients are top notch and seem fresh on every pizza we have tried. The only bad thing about The Rec, is trying to stop eating it. LOL. I've worked at 3 different pizza places in my years, no not this one, and this place turns out a great product time and time again. We will keep coming back again and again!

Stopped in for a quick dinner after have bookmarked this place for awhile. Service is friendly and quick. We ordered a hockey town, and an app of mozz stix. Super fast for Detroit style pizza, perfect topping ratio, and crispy edges. Only bummer is it's an hour away from me!

My husband and I had dinner at The Rec last night and had a great time. We're very new to the area and have been exhausted from moving so we decided to come to pizza on a whim. The environment here is awesome, lots to look at on their gallery wall in the dining area. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The pizza was fantastic! I would highly recommend and we'll be back!

In a word... Incredible. The most authentic Detroit style square Sicilian pizza since the original Buscemi's pizza started the Motown crust craze back in my native Detroit. But don't stop at the Pizza! Try a craft brewed IPA beer from Bell's brewery in Kalamazoo, MI (yes, there really is a Kalamazoo!)! On the softer side, grab a classic flavor Faygo Pop (soda for newbies) or give the one of a kind Superman Ice cream a try! You can't go wrong at The Rec! Arizona's best pizza, hands down!

The place was empty so we decided to dine in. It was also VERY clean. Staff was friendly and informative because this was our first time eating here. Food is delicious and we got lunch specials with includes a drink and salad. The wings here are smoked y'all. That's all I have to say. We will definitely be back. Not much foot traffic today but it's only because pizza is not really romantic to some folk. It's Valentine's Day.

Run, don't walk. This place is legit. Ordered one for now, one for later. Drove across town to try this place out. Well, barely made it out of the parking lot without devouring the cheese bread and The Trammell was awesome. He is "my Tiger" so I had to try it. Bacon, garlic, pickles, buffalo sauce. Sounded weird, but take my money. Can't wait to try the other pizza. Snagged a few Vernors, too! I'm not local to PX area, but this will be on my short list when in town. If you are from Michigan, give these new owners your support. And if you aren't, go see what Detroit pizza is. You won't regret it!

I went with a group of friends and tried their Detroit style pizza: the hockey town and the miggy! My favorite was the meaty miggy, but if you like buffalo sauce give the hockeytown a try! We also had their boneless wings:buffalo and honey hot and both were very good! The restaurant has Michigan decor and memorabilia and it makes it stand out, the place is very clean and their staff is very kind and was looking out to check we were good! We appreciated their good service.

Went here today. Very friendly. Great owner. I'm from Plymouth, MI. Love the Mich vibe. Great to see Faygo was there. Pizza was awesome. Fried pickles were great love the spears. Will definitely go back again. Great prices, amazing food. You have to go and enjoy this place

Been coming to The Rec for a couple years now and still love it as much now as I did in the beginning. It's recently come under new ownership and the family that took it over is great! Same great quality ingredients and recipes combined with fantastic customer service! Detroit style pizza is a unique experience, so give it a shot and I promise you'll love it!
