Portland’s Best Bars and Cafes That Play Vinyl Records | Eater Portland

"Truly a barcade for vinyl heads, the Record Pub is a fully functional record store with cupholders installed on the bins. The pub side of the operation includes a well-stocked bottle shop and blond wood horseshoe bar and display case that feels suspiciously like the set of High Fidelity. It functions more like a boutique in the afternoons, when the only sounds are acid jazz on the speakers and the thwip thwip thwip of a dad in a Van Halen T-shirt flipping through Taylor Swift albums. But in the evening, the modest bar space fills up with enthusiasts and regulars, and the burble of excited conversation gives the place much more of a neighborhood pub feel." - Ben Coleman

Combination Record Store Beer Bar the Record Pub Will Open in Portland - Eater Portland

"The Record Pub, on a quiet stretch of Southeast Milwaukie, is a combination of a record store and beer bar where visitors can browse between 2,500 and 3,000 records, mostly focused on Rock and other sub-genres. They can enjoy a pint of Rainier or a Portland-made IPA, sit and talk about music, or sift through a selection of $10 vinyl at the listening station. The pub will feature six taps, including Rainier and a rotating cider, with a focus on Pacific Northwestern beers. The venue will also have black-and-white posters of musicians and a giant Rolling-Stones-inspired painting for photos." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

If you are looking for a great vibe, great selection of music and beer, head to The Record Pub. People are so friendly. Get a beer, walk around and look at the vinyl collections, or sit and chat with your people. Beers on tap, bottles of wine, and a great selection of merchandise. Everyone who came in was greeted with a friendly smile and welcome. If they don’t have it and you want it, they can order it. Don’t miss The Record Pub on your travels through Sellwood!!

Love this spot! Very chill spot to look for a new record while enjoying a local beer. Great stereo equipment as well. Very clean bathrooms and the service is excellent everytime I have been. Pricing is good not great but the quality is exceptional. Picnic tables outside for a low-key hang with friends or a date. You mgiht even run into the neighborhood polar bear. Certified best place for a first date!

I’m super excited to see that The Record Pub opened last Friday in the southern part the Historic Iron Horse building that was once occupied by The Iron Horse Restaurant. The Record Pub is your one-stop shop for new and used rock-based records and tapes, vintage stereo equipment and Northwest-focused beer, cider, wine and assorted beverages served in our pub area or taken to-go. I dropped in today on my daily walk and I’m so impressed with what I saw! They the layout of the store is fantastic and easy to find and browse the records. So many records store have the records jampacked and it’s incredibly time-consuming to go through to find what you’re looking for or just browsing is a pain. That is not the case here as you will see by my pictures! There are so many records to choose from and they are constantly adding to their inventory. Today they have six beers on tap, one cider and they offer wine by the glass. I also have a case where you can pick up beard to go or drink it in house for a small corkage fee. I had a nice chat with the owners and look forward to chatting with them again soon. I wish The Record Pub an abundance of success and plan on stopping after work to have a refreshing drink!

What a cool spot! LOVE the idea of a record store with a bar…great concept, very well executed. Obviously the music is amazing but the decor is awesome and it has lots of fun, unique, personal touches. We’re in from out of town but super glad to find such a fun new spot!

Limited selection of vinyl (new and used), cassette tapes, and CDs. Very good selection of beer (7 taps).

Went to cash out and the owner said “I read that we are tipping too much these days, don’t tip on the records”. Imagine being behind a counter in a service industry heavy city and being comfortable telling bartenders like myself that we are getting too much tips. Clearly an out of touch boomer that hates the poor. Probably voted for Trump. Bars are no longer for working class people

Great place to relax and have a beer while looking through some vinyl. Staff is pleasant and great. Always have been a pleasure to interact with. I just wish they were closer to where I live.

Google
The Record Pub is easily one of THE best record stores in town. Not only do they have an amazing selection of hard to find and new albums. On top of having a great curated selection they also have great beer and cider on draft and a full cooler of great beer. The owners are very knowledgeable and have a true passion for music.

Yelp
We're ending our vacation here. Our friends who live nearby brought us in. The beers and vibes were A1. :) we'll be coming back next time for sure.

Yelp
Great little record shop with a small bar area for simple beers, mimosa, and some canned items. Very fun and hip, great music selection, and REALLY good prices considering how most shops price their vinyl nowadays. We had a lot of fun and will definitely be back!

Yelp
My wife and I have been going to The Record Pub since it recently opened, it has quickly become one of our favorite spots in SE Portland. We have been impressed with the kind staff and the well curated selection of both new and used vinyl and tapes. There are various stereo components for sale as well, some new and some used. A bit of collectible ephemera in the front bar case, t-shirts, and tote bags and the like as well hang on a wall near a well-stocked cooler holding many quaff-able beverages, beer, cider, sodas and non-alcoholic beer to boot. Wine is available (mimosas as well) by the glass and a fine selection of taps for pints. They have kindly embraced the local Duran Duran community my wife and her friends are quite involved in, letting them hold multiple events and special-order releases for them as well. A trivia night has started during the week that I hear is quite popular. It is all ages as a shop, but no kids at the bar. I'm seeing the diversity of releases grow quite nicely recently, they seem to listen to what the customers are calling for which is great. The pricing is decently fair, while new vinyl prices are up everywhere (thanks "vinyl resurgence" whatever that is, it never went away ahahahaha) I think this is a great spot especially for perusing the used selections to fill in gaps in your collection. All the vinyl has been cleaned and looks great. Have not had a bad experience yet in purchasing a slab from them. Check the place out it's worth it! Just don't expect any Mexican food, the sign for the old Iron Horse Restaurant remains but that tortilla has flow away like airborne circular treat replaced by other circular vinyl slabs of greatness!

Yelp
Fun spot for a beer, browsing albums, listening to music, and hanging out. Staff is welcoming and helpful, stock of albums is interesting (they also buy used albums and cassettes) , and the beer selection is great. Nice addition to the neighborhood.

Yelp
Stopped during a recent visit to Portland. Wish we had a place like this in Eugene. The owners are awesome - friendly, knowledgeable and fun to chat with. The record selection is fantastic; found several records that are normally not easy to find. The beers on tap were excellent and prices on everything was more than fair. Will certainly make this a regular stop on my future visits. Well done, guys!

Yelp
Wow! What a gem! The ambiance is amazing, with amazing records playing. Right when I walked in a I was greeted with the best service. Honestly what's better than a drink while listening, and browsing records and tapes. I would recommend to anyone and will be back.

Yelp
This place is great. Admittedly, we utilize this place more like the "pub" portion, as we don't have records. However, we have purchased gift records and they are knowledgeable. They are a great group of people there, have a nice selection of beer on tap and a welcoming atmosphere.
