East Ham’s Best Restaurants | Where to Eat in East Ham | Eater London

"Red Lion E6 is a neighbourhood blessing. The huge, partially covered garden, complete with table games, provides a brilliant backdrop to idle away the time, while inside, a solid selection of craft beers on tap rivals many other East Ham options. The pizzas are the strong point; options like margherita and the diavola, with its spicy sausage and chilli, are a compelling addition for London’s purists. More unusual possibilities are not to be snubbed, however. ‘The Geezer,’ a pie with salt beef, gherkins and mustard is surprisingly good, flavours mingling like a gigantic reuben sandwich. With quizzes, Sunday roasts and live music events, Red Lion is slated to be a lasting part of the community — as well as a destination." - Shekha Vyas

The interior is shabby at its finest, it made us want to walk out as soon as we got here but the kids were hungry. Completely empty, torn seats, sticky tables, dead bugs.... Food is overpriced and I'm honestly scared to order based on the hygiene standards that seemed non existent. Chicken nuggets were dry and overcooked, fries also. Tasted like nothing and just crunched in your mouth. Would never come back. They need a major refurbishment at the least...

Red Lion in East Ham is a fantastic spot for anyone looking for a great pizza and a good time. The stone-baked pizza is particularly noteworthy - it's crispy, perfectly cooked, and delicious. The service at this restaurant is fast, so you can enjoy your meal without any long waits. But what really sets Red Lion apart is the atmosphere. The bartenders are incredibly friendly and funny, making for a lively and engaging experience. The quiz is also well set up, with a great host who knows how to keep things interesting. The categories are varied and engaging, making for a fun and entertaining night out. The selection of beers and wine is also worth mentioning - there's something for everyone here, and the quality is top-notch. And speaking of atmosphere, the decor is very cool and different, giving Red Lion a unique vibe that sets it apart from other spots in East Ham. Plus, the beer garden is amazing - it's a great place to sit back and relax with a drink on a sunny day. Overall, Red Lion is a must-visit spot for anyone looking for good food, great drinks, and a fun atmosphere. Whether you're stopping in for a quick bite or settling in for a night of quizzing and drinking, this restaurant is sure to leave you with a smile on your face.

I would highly recommend sitting in the garden as it’s spacious and sunny. The inside of the pub is a bit dingy and the “dj” playing incredibly loud music on a Sunday at lunch time was a bit off putting. We ordered some pizzas and we were all pleasantly surprised at how wonderful they were!! I would really recommend grabbing one as they’re priced well and delicious.

Absolutely love this place. The vibe is always spot onn a proper mix of locals and newcomers, and the staff are legends.. Super friendly, always up for a chat, and service is quick even when it’s busy speaking of which the staff of subject Meghana Chintakunta’s service, in particular, was truly commendabl attentive, efficient, and added to the welcoming atmosphere. Great selection of beers, loads of craft options alongside the classics. And the Sunday roast? Unreal. Perfectly cooked meat, crispy roasties, and gravy that actually has flavor (not just watered-down stock like some places). In the summer, the outdoor seating is a game changer. Whether you’re here for a chilled pint, live music, or just a solid night out, The Red Lion never disappoints. Highly recommend!

🚇 East Ham 🍺 £4.40 Amstel ❤️ A superb E6 locals pub. . The Red Lion is located on High Street South which is at the quieter end of East Ham High Street. East Ham Tube is just over a ten minute walk away. . The Red Lion formerly (The Hammers) was built in 1841 which makes it East Ham’s oldest surviving pub. This is a red brick two storey pub which is clad in claret tiles in homage to this pubs heritage as a staunch West Ham United pub. The pub was refurbished back in 2018 and the pub’s original name reinstated. . The decor here is contemporary and has an American bar feel to it. The are exposed brickwork walls which are accentuated by red neon and led lights. This one bar pub has a good size bar and a pool table to one side. The seating here is comfy leather banquettes and booths plus traditional low level seating. At the rear of the pub is a large beer garden which was under construction at the time of visiting. . The beer choice is straightforward and well priced, I had a pint of Amstel which was an enjoyable pint and cost only £4.40. This pub has a strong pizza offering so I thought I’d try one out. I had the Salsiccia E Friarelli pizza which has Italian pork and chilli flakes on it, my pizza was fantastic and I couldn’t finish it, it was so filling. Price point was good, most pizzas cost around £13. This pub also offers roasts on a Sunday. . The pub opens at 4pm during the week and I arrived just after opening. The atmosphere was relaxed and calm with a few locals in attendance. The soundtrack was British indie and American rock which created a inviting ambiance around the place. The pub has live music nights, DJ nights and quizzes to keep you entertained. The service was great, the staff here were very personable and nothing was a problem. . The @redlione6 is another footy pub which has reinvented itself and done a cracking job. The drinks price point makes this an inviting pub for the local community and the food is tasty and hearty. This pub is an absolute triumph and a must visit East Ham pub. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 18/11/22

Recently refurbished pub that looks great. There's a good selection of food and drinks available. It's primarily a pizza menu with a good range of pizzas available. We had two pizzas and they were cooked well and very tasty, definitely try them out if you visit. The staff are very friendly and if you fancy a mid week quiz be sure to go on a Wednesday for quiz night. Inside is a little small, but there is a massive beer garden when the weather is a little warmer. I highly recommend this pub, will definitely be back to visit again!

Great pub with friendly & helpful staff, excellent selection of beers (& cocktails). Decent vegan pizza, especially mushroom truffle. Love their music play list! Cosy & airy inside, and wonderful beer garden outside. They often host entertainment nights, like reggae evening, etc.
