Yelp
I wish Yelp would let you do 1/2 stars for reviews. The Reservoir has updated its Brunch menu and it is a winner in terms of flavors. They had added some new entrees (Oxtail Hash, updated the French Toast, a variation on a theme of Avocado Toast, etc.).
The Oxtail Hash ($18) was very good. Served with two eggs (any style) and toast, the hash was flavorful. The Oxtail was tender, readily pullable with a fork. For those of you not familiar with Oxtail meat, it is lovely, but is fatty. For me, that lovely mix of meat and fat is too die for. My GF got the same dish. She has a love hate relationship with Oxtail. Unlike me, she is not a fat person so she painstakingly removed hers :-) But she loved it. Great dish, but coming in at almost $20, that is lot.
I also got an order of the Stuffed French Toast. Very lovely, well executed. Two slices of French Toast with a lemon bourbon ricotta cheese filling, covered in mixed berries. Amazing dish, but my problem with it was that it was two delightful pieces of bread for $12. I have notice the trend among brunch places where they are passing off two pieces of French Toast as an entree; for me, this is a side dish. For $12, I at least want to see 4 slices of toast.
They still have the bottomless mimosas, but they have gone up to $17. Not a problem for me because I will get my money's worth. But if you are 1-2 glass person, stick with individual glasses for $7.
Overall, I am pleased with the new menu, but think Reservoir should considered lowering their prices on some of the options. These are downtown prices in a neighbor establishment. I love that this place is so close by, but I don't want the downtown prices.
