I don't know why it's taken so long for me to brag on Resevoir but I'm grateful they're in my neighborhood. The food is always great, the staff interacts like it's a small town, like they know everyone already. I come here most often for brunch, the bloody Mary is great and they always have a great rotating option for a beer back. Their cocktails are also on point every time.

Google
Friendly, cozy, and welcoming bar. The staff were outstanding and the food was excellent. This is a great place to have dinner, watch a sports game or visit with friends. Great selection of beer, wines, and other types of liquor.

Google
We'll definitely be coming back! Great weekend brunch menu and the food was fantastic! Also very friendly staff, good music and several TB's to watch the games. Highly recommend!

Google
Great spot for a deliciously hearty meal. Phenomenal staff, fun vibe! They are doing something spot on here! I’ll be back! (Do not pass up the fried chicken and gravy…worth every calorie.)

Google
Rachel the bar tender is awesome. Super sweet, energetic and fun! We had a blast at breakfast this morning. The biscuits and gravy are KILLER! Its a bacon gravy which ive never seen before and in my opinion, best in the city. My partner always gets the chicken and waffles, and said those are the best in the city as well! The reservoir is so delicious and i will always rant and rave about the service. Thank you!

Google
Best brunch I’ve had in chicago. Friendly bartender . Cozy and clean vibe . Highly recommend

Google
We had a party of five. The music was way too loud. We had a hard time hearing one another. The fries were delicious, and the drink was strong. That's a plus in my book.

What a great spot located on Montrose Avenue, not far from Montrose Harbor. Cozy, comfy and super cute. I attended a fundraiser at this venue and I had a great time! Adorably decorated for Halloween 🎃 2023. The fundraiser included a snack buffet, and everything was so tasty. I definitely look forward to coming back for lunch or dinner. Friendly staff.

Bohao Z.

Yelp
Packed spot on Montrose. Great American food options and a big variety of beers on draft. If you are not a fan of beer, then there are wonderful cocktails for you to select from. Heads up, it does get loud during busy hours. Therefore, it is probably not the best spot for a first date (unless you want to start shouting at each other right from the jump lol).

Yelp
The menu had a lot of items that sounded good to us, the reviews were decent, so we ordered delivery. Unfortunately, nothing wowed us. The Reservoir Sliders were the biggest disappointment- dry bread and meat, completely lacked any seasoning and cheese was not included even though it should've. The Mac & Cheese was also disappointing- close enough to something out of a box. I did like the Roasted Beet Salad but it seemed to be missing some kind of dressing, and the Brussels Sprouts weren't crispy. The Reservoir Chicken Club Wrap (or should I say burrito?) was generous with chicken, but again, not much flavor going on and fries came stale. Not sure if it was because of the delivery time that caused the subpar quality, but we really wanted to like it more than we did. Prices were too high for what it was.

Yelp
Everything was a 10/10 we went on a Saturday right when they opened. Our waitress was kind and welcoming The bottomless mimosas was fantastic and lot lol The food was superb! I can't wait to go back, definitely the best brunch place in uptown we've tried. Also the playlist was bumping!!

Thomas R.

Yelp
Fantastic neighborhood eatery for brunch, dinner or just a cocktail at the bar. Beet salad is great option.

Yelp
Hello i am trying to delete my bad review. I am very sorry. David and the staff and restaurant is amazing. I wish for Yelp to remove my bad review. Thank you.

Diamond H.

Yelp
It's a small bar/ restaurant very cozy with a nice long bar and seating for diners. They have lots food to choose from. Televisions for those who watch and music for those who listen. Nice quantity of food is served. They make great drinks bartender was awesome. We had the hummus and veggies pretty standard. The sliders were delicious and the mound of fries we ordered was perfect. We also had flat breads I didn't care for that too much. The pork one tasted a little gamey. All in all I definitely liked the place and will come back.

Lisa E.

Yelp
Finally had the Chilaquiles with chorizo for breakfast - yummy. Would order again!!!!

Yelp
We used to come to this place all the time. The food is extremely good, the cocktails are average, and the service *used to* be good; but for the last year or so they insist on pumping in this obnoxious house music so loud that you cannot have a conversation or hear the servers speak and they will not turn it down when asked (FYI, if a customer asks for music to be turned down and you say you will and do not at all, they absolutely notice that you didn't. If you turn it down slightly and turn it back up, they notice that too). I do not understand this mentality; this isn't a club or a bar, it's a seated restaurant people go to eat and have a conversation. It must be miserable for the employees too because I see a lot of turnover. No one knows us anymore and we live next door. We tried to go last night for dinner but we couldn't find a table that wasn't under a GD speaker, so we left and ordered in because there isn't anywhere else open after like 8PM that isn't a burger joint in this neighborhood. Thanks for what you *used to* be, The Reservoir. We'll miss having a nice place to get a steak and glass of wine in our neighborhood.

Tosha J.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't been here sooner! Had a chance to grab dinner here and the food and service was excellent. I had a chicken wrap with sweet potatoe fries. They weren't stingy with how much meat was in the wrap and the fries were seasoned. I'd definitely go back. Can't wait to check out the rest of the menu.

Yelp
Really cute place with modern decors and also a outdoor patio. The Reservoir is also dog friendly which is nice for all dog owners. Our server was nice and attentive. Ordered the fried pickles and artichoke dip to start. My sister ordered the reservoir burger and I got the pork belly sandwich. Both were tasty. We also got the kids chicken fingers and Mac and cheese for my toddler. Both are very large portion for a kid meal and a great price.

Kate C.

Yelp
What a Great Time! We had appetizers and drinks. Our wait person was Awesome!! And a Big Thank You to Tommy for including us in your shinnannagins!

Wayne D.

Yelp
Staff is amazingly nice Food is mediocre. Pork belly sandwich: love the pork but the bread is too dry. Sweet potato fries are soggy when I had it Pork belly flatbread: same issue with the bread and not enough sauce Reservoir burger: ok burger. Nothing special Price is not too expensive

Christopher E.

Yelp
If you are looking for some some good food, great service and ambiance then look no further! This spot is the place for you! For starters, this my spot for the best fish and chips and wings for dinner every time! The fish is well seasoned and perfectly cooked just like the fries. The wings are perfectly cooked and complemented with the sauce. I really enjoyed every thing about my meal, I also haven't had some good fish and chips in awhile and this one definitely hit the spot! Thank you to the chefs at The Reservoir! Definitely recommend you check them out if you are ever in the Uptown neighborhood.

Christina D.

Yelp
Went here for a brunch with my fiancee and really enjoyed it. The bottomless mimosas were very reasonable priced but pretty heavy on the orange juice. I got the steak and eggs and I thought it was great all cooked to my liking. We were sat almost instantly upon walking in and our server was helpful. She accidentally spilled some syrup on me and was so apologetic but I really didn't mind because we came from the gym.

steven j.

Yelp
Female bartender Friday night 4-8pm. We sat at bar, she got our drinks wrong. No real apology. Our good too 40 minutes to come out. Again, we asked where is the food and she couldn't care less and only saying "kitchen is backed up" she was completely inept on relaying understanding the fish tacos, steak salad and burger should take this long. When we did get our burger, it had the thinnest piece of cheese on it hardly worth the upsell to add it. Burger was just alright. Friends got steak salad with no steak now she has to wait again after 40 minutes then our friend got fish tacos that came out 5 minutes after we got ours. Just a bad experience. The bartender needs better training or she might look at new career. The male bartender was a little better but still had an edge to him that was just weird. Don't think we'll be back.

Amanda D.

Yelp
Showed up on a Sunday for brunch without a reservation. I suppose I should have made one, but we were out running and I wasn't sure what time we would be done (or where exactly we would end up). We were able to get seater quickly, though, at the front of the restaurant. This ended up being only a few feet away from the live band that they had there (lively jazz). There was zero way I was going to say anything about this because we did show up without a rez, but it was a little hard to carry on a conversation - but the music was good and it was really nice to be out in public. Because they were so busy, my expectations weren't that high for any kind of service. Wow, was a wrong! Super nice, quick and really efficient. Bottomless mims that came in a carafe are just genius. Brunch menu is also substantial and you really do get a lot of food! We ordered the braised pork poutine and chilaquiles. Half of both of the dishes ended up coming home with us. Would definitely come back for dinner or drinks if ever on this side of uptown again. Service was great, menu offerings were plentiful and all around atmosphere was super positive.

Laura A.

Yelp
Salmon and avocado are my favorite things. Combining that into toast was a beautiful creation. Love the outdoor seating, and the indoor outdoor feel you get from the indoor seating as well.

paulina p.

Yelp
The food is delicious, very good service and atmosphere. Recommendation to try the risotto. Good wine.

Fred G.

Yelp
$$ Great sandwiches, beer, wine, small plates. Friendly familiar staff. In the heart of Uptown. The club sandwich, the sliders and salads are all good. A range of alcohol free beer, wine and cocktails are available as well. Atmosphere is friendly pub with books and boardgames in the shelves if you want to check them out. Hope you enjoy

Aidan W.

Yelp
We stopped in here for drinks and appetizers before heading to the beach. This is a pretty typical pub/bar, but delivered exactly what we needed! It was pretty busy, but not too loud at all. The service was a little slow, but nothing terrible. We had cocktails and some flatbreads which were great!

Jeff R.

Yelp
Food was decent. Food service was definitely on the slower side on the day I went. Folks who showed up after me received their food before me. May have been an oddball occurrence that day but it was certainly noticeable. Bartender was friendly

Kevin C.

Yelp
My favorite place near my apartment for a night cap. The ambiance is nice, not too bright and not too dark, doesn't get too noisy. Their aviation cocktail is the best. Every bartender that's taken care of my has been great, so they have a good team in place.

Adam L.

Yelp
Incredibly slow service. Server was fantastic but they were clearly understaffed with ZERO presence from management. Several tables around us haven't been bussed since we got here and we've been sitting here for over 30 minutes (still haven't even received the beverages we've ordered either). Embarrassing!

Ken C.

Yelp
This place is close to my daughters new pad. I love the vibe. They tailors my burger to my mood, and it was good. If I'd lived nearby I'd be here regularly, whether it was to hit the bar or grab a table. It just hits the right stride.

Yelp
I've recently started ordering to go meals from Here and fell in love with a few of the menu items. My family wanted to take a try at eating in restaurant to take advantage of patio eating before the summer ends. I visited on a Thursday evening with my small children and family. We were greeted and sat immediately on the patio. Our waiter quickly took our orders and it went downhill immediately. I put our kids orders in before even placing drink orders To ensure they received their food quickly. After placing their order our server came back and took our adult meals (3 entrees and 1 appetizer) and drink orders. Before receiving our drinks one of my kids meals and one of our entrees came. This was No biggie but i told the server to cancel the second kids meal if there was a mistake on the kitchen part. The server assumed the kitchen mistook the entree for the second kids meal. Then the rest of the meals come out and sporadic order and I believe the appetizer was second to last- still no biggie. However, Every sauce request we asked never came out with meals so I felt like we were running the server back and forth. Appetizer was room temperature, imagine cheesy spinach dip practically cold - yuck! And it came out very late so we were eating our entrees My husband chicken order was incorrect and they graciously took it off the bill and replaced it for us to take it to go. We got home and opened the box and it was still the wrong order and still no dipping sauce lol I hate that this happened because we really did fall in love with some of the menu items but the in person experience was chaotic and lackluster. My family spent over $100 (with 20% tip included) and were left not satisfied and a little frustrated.

Yelp
went on a Saturday , wow $7:00 well drinks and 1/2 price sandwiches!food was excellent drinks were good and the service was outstanding!

Yelp
Phenomenal local spot with a great atmosphere. The Cheeseburgers are spot-on and the French Fries the perfect crispness. (I must point out that the Lamb Burger should not be over-looked which I did for far too long.) The Hangar Steak is a winner as are the Brussel Sprouts. I rarely single out Chicken Wings at such an establishment, everyone has wings, but these MUST be specifically mentioned as I would put their's up against anyone's. The Reservoir also has a brunch that I gotta hit at least once-per-month at minimum. The Chicken and Waffles freaking rock, the Breakfast Burrito has been a staple for me for years (I could not have survived Covid without it,) and the Salmon Cake Benedict has the perfect balance of flavors. Best of all, David busts his butt to manage both a great kitchen and serving staff. I have always felt welcome. I cannot imagine Uptown without The Reservoir.

Emmanuel A.

Yelp
doors were locked and staff wouldn't pick up phone at 11:30 despite hours online saying open til 1 am

Denyce M.

Yelp
I wish Yelp would let you do 1/2 stars for reviews. The Reservoir has updated its Brunch menu and it is a winner in terms of flavors. They had added some new entrees (Oxtail Hash, updated the French Toast, a variation on a theme of Avocado Toast, etc.). The Oxtail Hash ($18) was very good. Served with two eggs (any style) and toast, the hash was flavorful. The Oxtail was tender, readily pullable with a fork. For those of you not familiar with Oxtail meat, it is lovely, but is fatty. For me, that lovely mix of meat and fat is too die for. My GF got the same dish. She has a love hate relationship with Oxtail. Unlike me, she is not a fat person so she painstakingly removed hers :-) But she loved it. Great dish, but coming in at almost $20, that is lot. I also got an order of the Stuffed French Toast. Very lovely, well executed. Two slices of French Toast with a lemon bourbon ricotta cheese filling, covered in mixed berries. Amazing dish, but my problem with it was that it was two delightful pieces of bread for $12. I have notice the trend among brunch places where they are passing off two pieces of French Toast as an entree; for me, this is a side dish. For $12, I at least want to see 4 slices of toast. They still have the bottomless mimosas, but they have gone up to $17. Not a problem for me because I will get my money's worth. But if you are 1-2 glass person, stick with individual glasses for $7. Overall, I am pleased with the new menu, but think Reservoir should considered lowering their prices on some of the options. These are downtown prices in a neighbor establishment. I love that this place is so close by, but I don't want the downtown prices.

Yelp
Had Brunch here and the food and service were good. Dined outside with our Dog and they were very accommodating. Would definitely come back.

Amanda P.

Yelp
I've been coming here for a few years. It's consistent and never disappoints! I've had everything besides desserts on the menu. The Brussel Sprouts are addicting. The burgers on point. The fish n chips bigger and freshly made. I hope he expands the bar soon bc it gets busy!! The bartenders can serve a mean martini too!

Brian T.

Yelp
I'm here almost every weekend for the brunch. I always enjoy the Bloody Mary special and I usually get the Steak and Eggs. The steak always comes out at the perfect medium rare. I'm usually sitting up at the bar and the service has always been very kind and attentive. Very reasonable prices for the quality of fare. If I've got friends or family in town this is a great spot to take them, especially on a summer day. The owner/operator David is great. He always remembers my name and it sure to give me a handshake and a thanks for my patronage.

Mariannem O.

Yelp
Another great night at Reservoir. The staff is so professional and friendly . The service is excellent and the food is very tasty. The cocktails are very good too. Definitely will be back!

Amanda L.

Yelp
I've been coming here for a few years. It's consistent and never disappoints. I've had everything on the menu besides the desserts. The Brussel Sprouts are addicting. The burgers on point. The fish n chips bigger and freshly made. Reservoir fires are a must! The bartenders can serve a mean martini too! Bar seating is small but their are tables.

KELLY M.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with my coworker and we order Mimosa for $20 a bottle. Then we got chicken waffle, pancake and chicken biscuit. The portion is good and the price. I would come back here again to have there dinner. There are special on Tuesday for tacos and margaritas.

Alexa D.

Yelp
We sat outside and ordered two cocktails, two beers, and an order of fried pickles. The cocktails came out OK. I ordered two meals and the beers or beers can't complain about those. The fried pickles were super oily and we had asked three times in order to get napkins. Just forgetful staff, basic food and good drinks. A good local neighborhood bar but we can go out of my way to go there.

Mildred O.

Yelp
We had to wait about 30mins to get our food after placing the order but the food was great and worth the wait. We had the wings no sauce with ranch, resovoir fries & the resovoir burger. The restaurant is really noisy and I didn't like that about it.

Ali F.

Yelp
A hidden gem in Uptown! It's in a weird location near the Wilson red line stop, but it has an awesome vibe inside. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was for the price. We had a really robust and delicious cheese and meat board that was incredible! And I had the caprese salad while my date had the burger. I wish I had gotten the burger, it was really good. Fries were obviously frozen (they have 3 different kinds- this was the standard...I'm guessing the more expensive ones are homemade! Knocked off one star for the weird service. It wasn't bad, but our server wasn't very attentive and didn't introduce himself or anything, which was weird. Other than that, great food at a great value. I'll be back for sure!

Marcia S.

Yelp
A friend lives near here and recommended it for an early dinner. Great choice! It was a little chilly to sit outside, so we settled for a table near the window filled with pansies. We split three starters... tenderloin sliders, tilapia fish tacos and fried calamari... and all were excellent. The four sliders were very filling and would have been more than enough as an entree. Service was great... Maria our waitperson took good care of us. Fair pricing considering the quality. Street parking was challenging, and I imagine it would be more so later in the evening. If The Reservoir was in my neighborhood, I'd be here all the time.

Don N.

Yelp
Visiting Chicago and we wanted to check out Ross Dress for Less for possible dorm furnishing for our daughter. We struck out at Ross but since it was around 5 pm we could at least have a cocktail before heading back to our hotel. I yelped and found The Reservoir which were mere steps from where we were standing. Good Yelp reviews, a little time to kill, a thirst to quench..I'd say it was a perfect combination! Since we only popped in for drinks were not able to sample any food but the drinks we certainly enjoyed the beverages. My wife's go to drink now is an Old Fashioned. She ordered it and while it was made very well I was most impressed with the single crystal clear large ice cube in her glass. When the ice is clear you know an establishment takes pride in their quality. There was a wide range of bourbon, scotch, and rye's to choose from. The prices were actually pretty decent as well compared to what I was seeing at the trendy restaurants near our hotel. I ordered the Templeton Rye neat and was given a very generous pour. The bartender was great, service was excellent. Overall a very nice, relaxing, way to spend a few minutes to catch our breath and I'd love to come back for a meal in the future!

Shay R.

Yelp
The Reservoir has the ability to make you have a love hate relationship with them. I've been here three times and each time has been a different experience. Pros: - They have Sunday thru Thursday food specials! The specials were a great way for me to visit while saving a little money during my visit. - Trivia on Tuesday's! It starts at 8pm every week. - Beautiful decor inside! This restaurant sets the perfect atmosphere for a date night. The lights are always dim with music playing but not loud enough that you can't hear your dinner companion. - This is a great place to watch a sports game solo on any day of the week. They have a ton of televisions throughout the restaurant that allows you to stay up-to-date with what's going on in the sporting world. Cons: - The quality of the food is very inconsistent. I've had the burger two of the three times I've been here and both times were polar opposite experiences. The first time the burger was burnt and very dry but the second time the burger was very tasty. I brought a friend here and the person was not impressed with the food. They mentioned that they put too much parmesan on the Reservoir fries so it drained out taste of the actual fry and the lamb burger was just okay. - For the inconsistent quality of the food, the prices are a little on the medium to higher end for some items. I don't mind shelling out the cash but it's not always worth it.

Sharita R.

Yelp
I've been to The Reservoir a couple of times now. There is more than enough space for big and small groups, and I haven't had to wait to be seated. There is a nice sized bar, spacious booths, regular tables, and a patio when the weather is nice. I've eaten dinner and I've tried brunch here and both times I was very satisfied with the food. The prices are a bit expensive for both food and drinks, but I didn't feel like portions were too small. The only thing I will say is that service is a bit slow. Our server appeared to be the only one working the restaurant and the patio outside on a busy brunch weekend afternoon. Our server was very courteous, but I do think that there should have been more people on staff for that time. Other than that, I do like The Reservoir as a neighborhood spot to grab some tasty American fare. It's a cozy place with good food and I wouldn't be opposed to visiting again.

Rebecca W.

Yelp
So, i forgot to take a picture of what we ordered. That being said, i was not disappointed and i am very picky. I did a blend of stuff. Brussel sprouts, OMG, Yes. Wings cooked to perfection, Mediterranean salad had lots of all the stuff that makes it good. One we added steak to. We were not at all let down. Great little place. They have daily specials as well.

Dennis D.

Yelp
I love this place! I've been enjoying their food, and friendly confines for over five years now, and continue rave about it with all of my friends. The GM and staff members are awesome!

Joe M.

Yelp
The service is always incredibly slow. 25 minutes to get our first drink, we had to hunt down the server to order our second, and we didn't get it until 20 minutes later. The servers seem apprehensive to "bother" the bartender for fear of "getting in trouble".

William S.

Yelp
Service here has really declined. It's so loud it's hard to have a conversation. Perhaps the should remove the seating and turn it into a discotheque. It took almost 10 minutes for the server to even notice I was here. The wine menu on the phone is annoying. I ordered a glass of wine, a side salad, and the steak and potatoes. It all arrived at once. I had planned to make it a three course, three glass dinner, but I abandoned that when they abandoned me as a customer. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. Which is sad as this was a great place to come with friends. But I now see I am one of five tables in the dining room on a Friday night. I should have taken the emptiness as a sign.

Mel C.

Yelp
Fantastic "Build-your-own" burger special and $4 Krombacher Pils on a Thursday night. We arrived around 6:00 p.m. with no reservation but were seated right away. Towards the end of our meal a line was forming for tables so certainly seems like a popular spot for dinner. Service was efficient and friendly and we always had full beverages. While the BYOB special is $5, any toppings you get beyond lettuce and tomato costs $2 so even adding cheese or bacon will add up quickly. This is a fun place to visit with a nice location and crowd.

Dawn B.

Yelp
Amazing food, great service. A neighborhood gem. The brussels sprouts are fantastic, and you're always made to feel appreciated when you dine here. Love to support this local Uptown business!

Richard A.

Yelp
The food is decent but their ridiculously, ever changing reservation policy will probably force me to boycott the place. 2 weekends ago I went there with my gig and requested a table out side. There were at least 6 empty tables. They said they were reserved, no one showed up and after a 30 minute wait they allowed me to use one. This weekend I called ahead to reserve a table and was told we don't take reservations, I explained my experience the weekend before and she had the gall /stupidity to say well yes we do take reservations if you know someone. I then mentioned a bartenders name I know who works there and she says sorry no reservations still he is not working today.
