Excellent pre theatre lunch on Thursday with my 9 year old. Warm welcome from all staff. Barman offered options on flavours to my son and the drinks were spot on. Food was an another level, great quality great flavours and perfect portion sizes. Excellent service. Very good memories made and we will visit again. Thanks to all involved for your hospitality. We’ve seen Paddington will be at the Savoy theatre soon so I’m sure another visit with family to the amazing River Restaurant before or after.

Great food, a little pricey but the quality of the all the ingredients is very high. Service was excellent and very friendly. Quite but intimate setting. Great location on the savoy, and seating is very comfortable. Good for family or to bring a date. Beef wellington is great, but overall was a little disappointing.

High expectations from a Gordon Ramsay restaurant, but reality fell short. + Elegant setting, polite staff, fresh oysters, Beef Wellington full of flavor. - Ambience feels outdated, Devilled Crab & Crumpets were bland, Cornish New Potatoes and green salad arrived practically raw and poorly prepared. Overall: below average experience, not living up to the Gordon Ramsay name.

A gorgeous restaurant with some excellent food. Service is as on point as you would expect. I had the prix fixe pre theatre menu. A delicious ceviche followed by a perfect risotto. Portion sizes are small so I ordered a side of delicious broccoli. Had a cheese plate for my third course.

Nice Sunday roast — very filling! The chicken was slightly pink inside, so not my top choice. The beef, on the other hand, was much better and more flavourful.

I took my wife to the River Restaurant for her birthday last Saturday. From the moment we got on site, we were treated with the utmost professionalism, respect, and courtesy. from the doormen, (Sebastian and Ghanti) Sebastian personally took us to the booking desk. The restaurant staff were amazing. 2 Gents (who are managers,(Richard and Julien) came and introduced themselves to us, and made us feel very welcome, they made us feel like we've known them as friends for years, going above and beyond, even noticing our glasses were low and pouring our drinks for us, (water and Champagne). After finishing our meal, which was OUTSTANDING, from presentation to size to taste, (pics added) they arranged for a small cake for my wife. (Not pre ordered). Julien had finished his duties/shift he came over to us to goodbye before leaving. Richard also made effort to come to us as we were leaving. My wife was blown away by the whole experience. I could go on and on and on. My last words would be. A massive THANK YOU, especially to Julien and Richard. Oh and Sebastian and Ghanti.

Great food and wine. Service was mostly excellent but the starter (soup) wasn't served correctly with a second waitress coming over to top it up.

We had a wonderful experience at The Savoy's River Restaurant! The atmosphere was elegant, and the riverside views added to the charm. The food was exquisite, with each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The service was attentive and friendly, making our evening truly special. We can't wait to return!

The Savoy Grill in London is dining perfection with a dash of history and a side of Gordon Ramsay magic! Sitting at Sir Winston Churchill's table felt like we were part of history--if history came with incredible food. The star of the show? Chef Ramsay's legendary Beef Wellington, which was so perfectly cooked it should get its own knighthood. The service was impeccable, the ambiance timelessly elegant, and the whole experience a blend of luxury and fun. Churchill would have approved (probably with a cigar in hand). Pricey? Sure. But hey, dining like a legend doesn't come cheap! Thank you Thierry and the team for a wonderful time. I'll be back for more!

Booked the reservation on OpenTable and they listed the latest reservation at 9:30pm BST, and I took it. After coming and being told to remove my hat (which caught me off guard) I see many other guests coming in after 10pm BST. Asked the front hostess if they recently changed their hours? She said they are open until midnight and take reservations until 11pm BST. Weird, cause my brain was on Cali time and I really wanted a later reservation and OpenTable must have had a glitch at the time of booking. Enough complaining and let's talk about the awesome food! First comes out the hot out of the oven sourdough bread & butter mixed with Vegemite, and I really dislike the Vegemite spread by itself and this was actually quite amazing! Ordered the Gazpacho which they made it with tomatoes and watermelon whereas most restaurants make it traditionally with just tomatoes, garlic, bell peppers, and cucumbers, onions and olive oil. Glad they made it the way I love. Also ordered the smoke haddock soufflé, and that was also amazing. They said their signature dish was the Beef Wellington, which I have had so many times and from so many places and wanted to see what was so special about this place. Out of everything I ordered this was least favored. It was decent but I definitely had better. The sides mashed potatoes and barbecue hispi cabbage were both great tasting and to end the meal went with the sticky toffee pudding and when the check came they had 2 freshly baked madeleine's and left with a smile. For sure will come back when in London as I really enjoyed my meal.

This was an incredibly disappointing experience. Let me first say I've been waiting nearly a decade to try one of Gordon Ramsay's beef wellingtons. While the meat was incredible it was not enough to make up for the outside crust being burned and too hard to put my fork into. The burned crust distracted from the flavor. I ended up cutting it away and continuing with the mushroom mince and meat. The flavor of the creamed spinach again was nice however the lemon zest is what was supporting that. Lemon zest on cream spinach is not something I've seen before but it was a delightful addition. The problem there in was why they bothered calling it "creamed". I know that they used a cream reduction, but what I got just seemed like warm milk pooled at the bottom. I did ask if they could make the cream a bit thicker and the manager just quickly dropped what appeared to me to be the exact same thing on the table and walked away. He did not discuss with me what was done or what the chef did or said and then actually got defensive when I asked. I ended up not continuing with my meal and even further could not find the appropriate staff to wave down to ask for my check. The service here was not great from a lack of presence, putting personality to the Savoy grill, to clearing bread crumbs from the table. I think the only reason why I was able to get any anyone's attention was the sommelier helping the table next to me seeing I was very unhappy just waiting for someone to come by and then go find someone himself to help. The sommelier here seem to be the only staff on point. I can even say, I observed them helping each other and organizing quite closely. I hate to say this, but my experience at Miller and Lux in San Francisco, which is quite literally attached to a basketball stadium provided service, food, and a well prepared beef Wellington, the standard of what I was expecting here. I hate comparing a while. I would hope every fine dining establishment with strive to provide a standard of excellence. I think I was expecting more than what I had previously experienced in past. The standard here was not equal let alone superior, it felt more like a very pretty diner. This was incredibly disappointing. They receive two stars from me, one out of respect for Gordon Ramsay, and two out of respect for what I observed and experienced with their sommelier'. -3 stars for service, food quality, and one for my broken heart. Gordon Ramsay, your staff has let you down.

Twice in one year - I'm a lucky girl! The soufflé and beef Wellington were outstanding. I cannot find fault of any kind at this stunning restaurant. From the sommelier's recommendations, to the perfect service, this place is ridiculously amazing.

The food was excellent we had the Savoy tasters menu. The service was great as was the ambiance. The wine menu was not something we would usually have so the sommelier suggested ordering what we usually drink. He was very helpful no pressure.

Hit up many restraunts on this vacation and the river restraunt by Gordon ramsey at the savoy was one of them. Went with our two boys who are 10 and 9 and we all had a great time. We had a very attentive waitress from Italy and we all had beef wellingtons. The ambiance we love, with the white table cloths and views of the river. They have the caviar, the fancy mash potatoes and a great wine list. Definitely a reservation and the dress is nice, sport coats were worn

First time I ever had beef Wellington and it did not disappoint. Service was top-notch. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice restaurant in London and a spectacular beef Wellington.

High end Gordon Ramsey restaurant. We were dressed casual while others suit n tie. They didn't seem to care. Great food. Impeccable service.

Absolutely fantastic food and ambiance. Servers were polite and very helpful. Ramsey attention to detail was in everything served. We ordered steak and few other items. Really good experience. We finished with sample of desserts which were given to us free as my steak took longer than expected. Family was extremely pleased with the choice. Money well spent!

Where to start....this restaurant could not be in a better location - it reflects the very elegance of the Savoy Hotel. Service is exceptional and down right pampering!! Before we ordered warm, crusty, deliciously malty sourdough came to the table with a taurine of perfectly spreadable butter. We started with the veal sweetbread, and oysters from Northern Ireland. A happy mistake of Hackett soufflé also came to the table. Veal sweetbread is not bread at all.....it is made usually from the gullet - it does have the texture of bread....knowing what it is should not detour you from trying because it is outstanding, earthy and scrumptious. The oysters were sublime with a bloody mary sauce. A must try. It'a common in London to have Sunday Roast at many restaurants, and here was no exception. I had a expertly prepared roasted chicken with amazing vegetables and pom puree. My husband had a very delectable Dover sole. He said it was fabulous. I tried it Nd he was right. In fact he said "you can never go wrong at a Gordon Ramsey restaurant" The beat for me was the apple tar-tine for 2 with vanilla madascar ice cream. Yummy.

Dined at the Savoy Grill last night and was sadly disappointed given the "hype". While the beef Wellington was indeed very good, it was not worth the cost. The prime rib was incredibly disappointing and the salmon soufflé was unique, but again, nothing special given the cost. Service was adequate, but less than you would expect - less than stellar attitude as well. As others noted the menu selection was fairly limited. All in all, this is a pass - far more interesting options in London to choose from.

Our dinner at the Savoy Grill restaurant was a big success. We were staying in the Savoy hotel so it was really convenient to have dinner at the restaurant. We absolutely loved what we ordered- herring soufflé (!!!!) and Beef Wellington for myself and a green salad and ribeye for my husband. We've eaten in many great restaurants around the world but this place was really something special. Every dish was perfectly executed and cooked to perfection. The service was as great as the food itself and we enjoyed ourselves immensely.

We had a reservation for a month in advance, and was really looking forward to a lovely experience. Unfortunately, my partner came down with Covid on the flight over from the U.S., and I called as soon as they opened to cancel our reservation. Even providing the maximum amount of advance notice I could, and sparing their waitstaff and other patrons from Covid infection, they charged us 30 pounds a head for being sick. That's for nothing... no food, no offer of takeaway, just collecting their money. Thanks, we won't ever frequent your establishment or any other of Mr. Ramsay's.

What an experience. The Beef Wellington was to die for, the Lebanese wine (Mular 2001) recommend by our Sommelier was so incredibly good and the staff...the staff could not have been more amazing, especially as we were with our young kids and they not only prepared a meal that all of them loved, but made them special desserts not even on the menu. Magnificent!

We had not been here for several years and probably 2 renovations ago when it was green rather than red. The ambiance is great--nice soft music, some lighting (not totally dark but bring your readers or phone) and cozy two-tops for great date nights. We had an excellent somme who directed us to some great pairings with the fish souffle and gazpacho as well as the beef wellington we both enjoyed for our mains. The fish souffle is really rich--definitely shareable. The gazpacho is on the small side in terms of portion; between the bowl shape and the amount of soup, I struggled to get much more than 4 good sized bites. The wellington was lovely and I'd highly recommend medium rare for cook temperature. Anything more and this will dry out beyond the recovery powers of the excellent sauce, which they do leave at the table. The beans were an excellent side and cooked perfectly in the garlic butter. For the end of the meal we had the cheese and eclair. The cheese was huge and just the kind of soft, creamy and stinky cheese that we like. It would have been better if the balsamic was on the side rather than on top. The eclair was really nicely made but had a bit too much orange for me. That's a personal taste thing and clearly a lot of people like orange in their pastry (see Panera bread). We ended with the Manhattan Style cocktail which had a nice blend of several amaros and liquors and wasnt too sweet. Overall it's a solid spot

2.5/5 food 2/5 ambiance 3/5 service I'm not sure what the hype is. The food is decent, but overly priced. The beef Wellington is good, but not worth the money. The seating arrangement is odd in that you're facing other people as you're eating. There's so many great restaurants in London to try and this isn't one of them. On the plus side, the hotel lobby is beautifully decorated.

This review is actually for The River restaurant at the Savoy but I was unable to locate it. Although I have been to the Savoy Grill in the past and absolutely love it. This time we opted to try Gordon Ramsey's new restaurant The River at The Savoy. As you walk through the marble entry up and down the steps and through the grand tea room, you will enter The River Restaurant. The staff is impeccably professional and greeted and seated us immediately. We enjoyed two fantastic martinis along with some wonderful warm bread. We ordered champagne and wine before our spectacular food arrived. We had an amazing seafood tower filled with lobster, crab, scallops, muscles, oysters, octopus, about everything you could ever want. It was not only beautiful but marvelously tasty! We also chose the fresh fish special of the night, which was one of my favorite, the English Dover sole, which they filleted table side. The brown butter caper sauce was so delicate as well as the Sole. Delicious! We did not have time for dessert because we were off to the theater. But I'm sure that would've been spectacular as well. I want to add that the maître d' even escorted me across the foyer to the women's restroom because my back was acting up. That's perfection in service. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable evening. Please give them a try, it is their first year opening and you don't want to miss it.

Yes, this place is expensive and it's considered fine dining with restaurant staff loaded with attitude to intimidate you but don't let that hold you back to get the Savoy Grill Gordon Ramsay Beef Wellington experience. I came in 30 mins early and I plunked in comfortably in those soft chairs outside the American Bar. Listen, the hotel wants your money so they're going to be nice to you so don't worry! Next I checked out the awesome restrooms which had urinal splash guards so peepee doesn't get on your shoes, brilliant (real hand towels too). Then it was noon and I got seated quickly (had a reservation which I got the week before). There is NO bad spot in this restaurant, I sat against the wall but had a clear view of the restaurant. Initially I thought I should go for a starter, main and dessert plus a wine or cocktail but thought if I ate too much I might not be able to totally appreciate the purity of the Beef Wellington. So just a Negroni and a Beef Wellington. I did have to wait a little (20-25 mins) because I suppose they have to make it fresh and you get one slice of it as well as others who ordered same. I ordered it medium rare with mashed potatoes and broccoli on the side. I say it was pretty good but the sauce they pour over it is magnificent. Just having it on the mashed potatoes would be worth having as a meal! Now is it really the most fantastic dish you will ever eat in your life? Okay, the meat tasted like prime rib and to be honest, I'm not a big fan of solid meat cuts like prime rib minus the fat or filet mignon, and prefer ribeye or even the tastier skirt steak. Could the crust be flakier? Probably but I've flown across the Atlantic and I'm in this fancy hotel in a Gordon Ramsay restaurant with prices to match so I'm giving this sucker 5 stars because the taste met the anticipation and I finished the entire Beef Wellington!

Everything was good, but under Ramsay's name, I expected stellar. I had the beef Wellington as that is his signature dish. The meat was cooked perfectly, and it was tender, but the paid pastry was quite loose around the beef and separated so it was difficult to get everything in one bite. We had the green beans with garlic butter as a side, which for £8.50 was not very many green beans and not well seasoned. My husband had the halibut, which was good, but forgettable. The ambience has a classic steakhouse feel. It's in the beautiful Savoy hotel.

It was good but not great. I personally did not think the menu was creative enough. The menu seemed limited but don't get me wrong it all tasted good. The Wellington is a must and it expected to be ordered. The chicken and duck parfait was also a standout. There is a bar upstairs called American Bar which has phenomenal drinks. Truly out of this world. Now that place is a must.

My husband and I took my parents to dinner here a few nights ago. I have been wanting to try Ramsay's Beef Wellington for years now, and was SO excited to eat here. The restaurant is GORGEOUS, stunning! You feel like you've been dropped directly into the 1920s when you walk in. It also gave me a bit of a Vegas vibe. Our server, Clifford introduced himself right away and gave us our menus. After that, we waited quite awhile to have our orders taken. A different server came over to take our orders, we ordered everything we planned on eating/drinking (minus dessert) all at once. It then took a really long time to get our cocktails. I looked at my watch and we weren't served bread or cocktails until we had been seated for 30 minutes, which is longer than I expected. Once the cocktails came, they were definitely worth the wait! I got the Marilyn Monroe and it was so unique and delicious! We ordered steak tartare for a starter. I wasn't a huge fan of the crisps that were served with it, so I just ate it with a fork. I think the horseradish overpowered the meat a little, but all in all it was fabulous. The beef Wellington was all I had hoped for and more, and the mashed potatoes (pomme purée,) were out of this world!! I also have to give a shout-out to the server that recommended a white wine to pair with the Wellington, as I cannot drink reds. The wine was perfect!!! For dessert I got the vanilla rose cheesecake and it was HEAVENLY. The subtle rose flavor was perfect, and the whole thing just melted in your mouth. We were then given passion fruit truffles to end things, and Clifford was nice enough to box them up for us, as we were beyond stuffed! After we were finished we waited, and waited. I kept making eye contact with the server to try to signal that we were ready for the check, but we were kind of abandoned at this point. I hate flagging down servers because it makes me feel rude, but I was convinced that we would be there all night otherwise. Once I asked to pay, things moved very quickly. I would definitely give the food here 5 stars, but 3 for choppy service. I do wonder if they were maybe short staffed? Still a great experience!

Between the poor pours on the glasses of overpriced wine and the overly salted steak, despite requesting no salt, we won't return.

A Gordon Ramsey restaurant and fantastic ! One of the best restaurants in London .the savoy hotel is just magnificent. Walk though the ornate lobby to the restaurant where you'll be treated like a queen . I had 3 male servers that took care of me .. all were in white jackets and ties and all were super attentive . They have a full vegan menu and an amazing wine selection . Superb !!

When you go for lunch, they have a cart option. I called ahead and they had Beef Wellington on the cart which comes with roast vegetables so the supplement is quite the bargain. Everything was simply delicious and as the first customer through the door for lunch, service was completely over the top.

Wow Wow Wow The Vote is in, the Savoy Grill owned by Gordon Ramsey is the Best restaurant I have ever eaten at. His staff has set the bar for service. They are attentive without being pushy. Perhaps the best part of the service was that despite sitting down at 10:30, we were not rushed. Started with Lobster Bisque which was ok. I had his beef Wellington, which was truly special. We had mashed potatoes and they were spectacular. The desert was out of this world. I had the Marilyn Monroe was a vodka based drink in a chilled glass. It was unbelievable. If you are in London and you don't have a meal at the Savoy you will have made a terrible mistake.

Perfection It really doesn't get any better than this. It may be pricey but you get what you pay for. The Silver Grill is fabulous. Try to get a room with a river view. Right in the middle of town. Expensive but you get the quality you expect. The Dover Sole Meuniere is spectacular. Service is old school English. Discreet, no deference, just perfect service.

We booked the chefs experience, and while the food was very good, I took off a couple of stars bc the overall experience had some hiccups. First, our server was not unfriendly, but also want particularly personable. He greeted us in what felt like a rush, was reading off of a paper and making notes as if he was in a meeting, and often left us waiting for extended periods of time. So much so that the entire meal took about 4.5 hours, which was about an hour and a half past what we had been told to expect. We were also told we would get a tour of the kitchen, but that didn't happen. I think the most uncomfortable part, however, was how hot the private dining room was. It was so warm and stuffy, which was really unpleasant and made the long waits between courses even more irritating. This was all unfortunate because the dishes themselves were very nice. I particularly enjoyed the canapés of foie gras and salmon, the cod, the Wellington and the raspberry jam dessert. Presentation was beautiful and flavors yummy. I would go back to the restaurant, but definitely don't think the chefs experience is worthwhile to do again.

Great experience for lunch today! Service was impeccable, as you would expect from a restaurant like this, and food was outstanding. We came for the Wednesday lunch trolley special of beef Wellington. (It's been on my bucket list since our first trip to London). It was delicious. A perfectly cooked piece of meat with potatoes and cabbage. The mashed potatoes were so creamy and delicious. It was a lot of food, at one point I didn't think I'd finish my beef Wellington but it was so good I couldn't stop eating it. I'm really glad I came and if you're interested in trying their beef Wellington the Wednesday trolley special is the way to go. It was pretty busy so I'd suggested making a reservation. Total cost for two trolley specials, a glass of wine and an espresso martini £110.

Overall pretty disappointed in my food. I was super excited to dine at one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurant so I had pretty high expectations for the food. In particular, the infamous beef wellington... But dang, the beef wellington was soooo SALTY!! Like, spoiled in so much salt!!!? It was seriously inedible. Very annoyed to waste £88. Even my fiance loves salty food but this was WAY TOO SALTY. We spoke with the manager who claimed it was cooked as normal and no one else has complained... very, very disappointing. So, over half of the dish was left to toss. The manager offered us dessert on the house, but because we were one of the last ones dining, I'm sure they just gave us whatever leftovers they had. The food overall was very heavy and did not have any finesse. We made the mistake of booking two reservations here as guests of the Savoy, and a lot of restaurants were closed on Christmas day. We were hoping they would redeem themselves, but nope. Just average food. We couldn't cancel our reservations or they would charge our credit card on file. I really wish I could like the food here, but it was so boring as well. We were here twice in one week and dessert had the same ingredients (ie lemon and raspberry pastries). On Christmas day, we had dry turkey. Yuck. In the end, wasted TOO much money. Horrible place to eat. Save your money!

The remodel looks amazing. We had great service and the food was delicious. The Sommelier was amazing. He was so friendly and personable. He was the highlight of the evening. He suggested yummy drinks, wine and dessert. He stopped by many times to make sure we were enjoying our dinner and we got to know him a little more. Thanks for making our last evening in London a remarkable one.

Very upscale, fine dining experience. Totally worth the money. Ask your server who sat where because we found out mid-meal that our table was where Grace Kelly frequently sat, very cool! We had an excellent meal and the cocktails and wine were top-notch. My husband had the beef wellington and I had a filet. Would definitely go back, make sure to make a reservation because they are always packed!

We made a reservation a week before for 5:45pm on a Thursday thinking we'd both opt for the 3 course lunch prix fixe menu. However when we reached, I had changed my mind and my partner ended up ordering the 2 course prix fixe getting the white onion cider veloute and beef wellington. I opted for wild mushroom linguine. The linguine was good but extremely rich. It's a good dish if you like truffles. My partner really enjoyed his beef wellington and I also tried a bite. The side of broccoli and mashed potatoes were perfect and I wished I myself had ordered the beef wellington too. Overall the experience was nice, very Gordon Ramsay, and I hope to come by again and sample more of the menu.

It was a nice evening. My experience was mostly good food tempered by faulty service and miserable patrons next to us. The food was good. I ordered the filet mignon. It was a solid 8 of 10 (I'm a terrible steak snob). My wife ordered the lobster bisque which was very good and presented nicely as well. My son's order was completely forgotten about. He's ten and if someone's order had to get forgotten, I'd rather it be literally anyone else than his. The desserts were rather underwhelming. All in all, it was an evening. I'm glad to have gotten to eat in one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants and it was a big deal while we were in London to do so, but I won't be back.

Beautiful restaurant brimming with history. I booked it for a large group work dinner without fully appreciating the lienage of the hotel or the restaurant. We were seated in a beatiful, private room that was great for an intimate group gathering. The set menu, while relatively simple, had some good starters and protein options. Starters included butternut squash soup and salmon tartare. Steak is a good default here and the tender, juicy tenderloid did not disappoint. And there were decadent desserts to top it all off: sticky toffee pudding, dark chocolate mousse with polenta shortbread, and marinated pineapple carpaccio with chili, lime, and mango (what!). Everything else, from service to wines, was also tip top. Overall, a very good value for the ambiance and group experience.

What can really be said about this upscale eAtery. Everything we had was totally on point. All four of us got Beef Wellington. The dishes were amazing. Cooked to slightly medium rare the beef was buttery. It was surrounded by a mushrooms pate and pff pastry. It was fantastic. As a note it takes 45 minutes from the time you order until it arrives at your table. Totally worth it. The sides were just as good We got Cauliflower Cheese. If you love cheese and cauliflower don't pass this dish up. The mashed potatoes were great -- creamy and a perfect consistency. The Brocolini were perfectly steamed. Again it was great.

This is a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. And as someone who watches all his shows, it was a must when in London. I started with the haddock, cod, and salmon fish cake. It was on a bed of pea and lovage, and topped with whipped cod's roe. Really perfect appetizer. (What is lovage, though??) My entree was a play on Shepherd's Pie -- a beef cottage pie with a cheddar mash. So much flavor and depth. Literally. It was a deep dish. I also tried the grilled park rib-eye with apple ketchup and a side of buttered leeks. Not better than the pie but well worth it. These dishes were a part of a special menu in partnership with the Savoy Theatre which is a 10 second walk from the restaurant. This special menu is deliciously affordable. It also comes with a glass of bubbly. Water is not free. It's poured from an unmarked bottle. Because we ended up paying for it, I'm glad I drank several glasses. And lastly, service was NICE. My phone was dead from using it all day sightseeing and yelping, and our server offered to charge it for me at the host stand. And dinner was paced perfectly so we could get to the theatre on time. Really great pre-show experience.

Great spot located in the Savoy Hotel where I was staying, went here after theater as they were one of the few restaurants still serving. They almost got five stars but when we walked in no one greeted us and yes it was 10:45 and they did close at 11:30 and they acted like they really didn't want to serve us but they did Cetus and then things were smooth sailing. I really hate going to a restaurant late or right before they closed but they did just see two other tables before us so I didn't really feel badly and I mean come on you're open for business you had a shit ton of staff some of them a little clueless but hell isn't that this whole post Covid problem? Once seated and chatting, all of the staff were extremely friendly unhurried and professional and we truly enjoyed our very quick after theater meal. I found it funny they did tell us the beef Wellington would take 45 minutes so naturally we did not order that ha ha but we had a smattering of different dishes from farm Grau to a cheese sampler pee in mint soup, I had the mushroom linguine and others enjoyed the deck and some steaks and everybody was very happy with what they received and gave good comments. One of us in the group mentioned how it was a Gordon Ramsay restaurant and explained how he took it over and turned it around so kudos to you Gordon. You'll get five stars if you put somebody at the front to greet people when they come in, it was Thursday night after all and the city the streets in the hotel were bustling. Only other negative was concierge at Savoy didn't even suggest this great spot as an after theater choice, Super weird as most restaurants were already closed around the opera when the opera was finished:-)

Gordon Ramsay is the Chef I idolize, what I inspired to be in the future, one of the best chefs in the world. Had the most extraordinary, amazing culinary experience at their private chef table inside there kitchen. Every dish that came out was explained by the chef. Each dish was personalized, beautiful, with amazing flavors. Wish I had taken more photos but unfortunately the food was to amazing and wanted to eat it right away. LOL!! I totally recommend getting the chef experience at there Chef Table.

A beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous hotel! Gordon Ramsay never disappoints. To start we shared the steak tar tar appetizer and it was delicious. It did not give that raw texture like some do. It was a seasoned beautifully and the meat was top grade. If I could only say one thing it would be, get the Beef Wellington! The meat was cooked perfectly and melted in your mouth. If I ever find myself back in London I will be returning to Savoy for another great meal.

One of London's fine dining experience restaurants. The sort of place where they dextrously and unobtrusively whisk away all your silverware after each course, whether you used each piece or not, to replace it with a whole new set for the next course. I liked coming here because they have a pre- or post-theatre menu of 3 courses, none tremendously large, so perfect if you don't want to stuff yourself. For each course there are a few choices. I had a smooth and tasty onion soup, a Cumberland sausage (long and thin, it came rolled up on the plate), and a delicious creme caramel for dessert.

This place most definitely lived up to the hype. As Ramsay is one of my favorite social media personalities, I had to go ahead and try his flagship restaurant in London and I was not disappointed. Unlike many other fancy restaurants, Savoy does offer an exclusively vegetarian menu with several options which made things really easy. They start off everyone with bread and butter and the quality is quite high. I prefer the white bread over the whole wheat bread in terms of taste and found it a bit too hard to eat the crust of the bread. For the appetizer, I shared the Glazed Omelette with Comte and it was the best omelet I've ever had. Typically, when there is cheese in an omelet, it can be overwhelming, but in this dish, it was extremely subtle and rich enough, but not too creamy. I tried to eat it as slowly as possible because I wanted to savor and remember every bite. Usually, I need pepper and ketchup to make an omelet taste good, but this one is so so good on its own - just the right amount of flavor. For the main course, I had the mushroom and burrata vol-au-vent (had to look it up) and was very impressed. I was already pretty full and satisfied with the omelet and bread, but still enjoyed and wanted to eat all of this dish. The mushrooms are made very well - extremely juicy and full of flavor. The outside puff pastry is the flakiest I have ever seen for a puff - extremely crispy and not too buttery or sweet. The burrata could've been a little bit stronger but does blend well with the mushrooms and the cep ketchup. We didn't order dessert but they did bring us tiny macaroons which were absolutely heavenly. The inside chocolate was thick, creamy, and not too sweet. The service was very nice, helpful and quick and all the food ended up coming at a reasonable price. I will definitely need to come here again next time I'm in London.

We made our reservations long ago and were so looking forward to the Beef Wellington. We got it and it was delicious. Unfortunately, our evening was clouded by a very strange waitress. At seating, she was very demonstrative, arms flailing around, and speaking with a strong French accent, that just didn't sound authentic. A bit strange. There was enough of a miscommunication that after ordering her drink, my wife turned to me and asked if she had somehow made the order confusing. TBH, she did order an extra dirty gin martini with extra olives with a Texas accent. So, perfectly willing to overlook this oddity. They serve you as a team, and the next waitress who actually brought the drinks was delightful. The headwaiter stopped by several times and was also excellent. For appetizers, we ordered caviar and the pate. Both were delicious, but before we were finished with the caviar, the odd waitress swooped in and took only the little toasts for the caviar off the table and whisked them away. Strange. We flagged the headwaiter and asked for more, then saw him having what looked like an intense conversation with the waitress. Between appetizer and dinner, the odd waitress stopped by again and offered me a wine menu. Quite some time before, the head waiter had given my wine order to the sommelier who brought the bottle, opened it, offered a taste, and sat it on the table to breathe and await dinner. When I advised the odd waitress of this, she just looked shocked, looked down at the open wine bottle, and offered me a taste. I pointed to my wine glass which clearly already still had much of the taste I'd been given in it. Dinner was served without any drama, just excellent Beef Wellington. When dessert menus were brought out, we didn't see anything calling to us as there were no chocolate options. We told this waitress that and she brought out some small chocolates, which was very nice. Overall, a good evening, and we really wanted to relax and just enjoy it, but the experiences with the one waitress was off putting. This is unfortunate as every other staff member we encountered seemed to be on their game and very engaged in providing excellent service. We wondered if she was in training or something. This is probably nothing for you to worry about as I cannot imagine she is still employed there.

Our visit to the Savoy Grill was supposed to be the food highlight of our trip to London, but it turned out to be quite the opposite. We arrived right on time for our reservation and were told that our table wasn't ready and that it would be a while so we should go to the American Bar in the Savoy Hotel and have a drink. We're usually fine with a little pre-dinner drink (and don't get me wrong, the American Bar had INCREDIBLE cocktails), but it was a very pricey mistake on the Savoy's part, as we were left killing time in the American Bar drinking £25 cocktails that we didn't plan on, nor did we need. We've been to many upscale restaurants and whenever we've been left waiting by that, cocktails are compliments of the house as an apology gesture - PERIOD. So, £50+ and 2 cocktails later our table was ready. We were seated and immediately offered champagne by waiter #1 from the champagne cart, and since we had just killed time with cocktails we were pretty hungry and wanted to just get right down to ordering our meal - no frills, no extras. We came for the beef wellington, and that's what we wanted - not to mention after seeing the pricetag on the cocktails at American Bar we were a bit leery of ordering champagne from a cart with no price tag on it. It very well could have been £50 a glass the way things were going, and we didn't want or need it. Waiter #2 comes and offers us water, which we accept, and then she says something about a 9 course meal which we had signed up for (which we hadn't) and walks away before we could question it. Were we really getting forced into 9 courses at this point? I was honestly so confused and then had remembered it came up as an "offer" when booking on OpenTable. To be clear, I had not accepted this offer nor was it stated anywhere on my reservation, so we figured we'd just catch her when she came back around and tell her what we'd ACTUALLY like to order. Waiter #2 walked by several times but passively ignored us probably about 5 times, when waiter #3 came and took our order. We ordered beef wellington, as planned, as well as a side of truffle mashed potatoes. While seemingly inputting our order on the computer about 5 feet away from our table, waiter #2 is lurking behind waiter #3 scolding him for taking our order - because of course, we WANTED the 9 course special (wrong). She investigates the 9 course debacle and seems frustrated when she seems to find no record of it, as we tried to tell her (if only she had given us the time of day). She gives us a dirty look and proceeds to ignore us for most of the remainder of the evening. During the 45 minute waiting period for our beef wellington, not a single person stopped to ask if we needed anything, despite multiple tries to get their attention to bring more water to the table. We finally got the attention of waiter #4, who we hadn't seen before but seemed to work there and made eye contact with me so I asked. He accepted to bring us more water, but then never came back. Let me preface my review of our actual food by saying I've watched most of Chef Ramsay's shows and seen him cook beef wellington on TV many times. I had visions of grandeur - perfectly cooked, delicious, melt in your mouth goodness. Our actual meal was not a vision at all, in fact. It was bland, uninspired, and just not cooked to perfection at all. The meat was fine - not good, not bad. There wasn't enough puff pastry. The sauce they put on the meat tasted like store-bought au jus from a packet. And the truffle mashed potatoes were not only small, but they were essentially just mashed potatoes with a couple of tiny truffles sprinkled on top. While our entree was disappointing, we saw our neighboring table order a baked alaska and it looked good so we decided to order, and honestly it was the highlight of the meal. Without that, between the tardiness of our table, atrocious service (It's still absolutely appalling to me that we were passed off to FOUR different waiters and not one was even the slightest bit personable), and lackluster food, I wouldn't have had a single star to give the Savoy. Next time I'm in London, I will definitely go elsewhere - somewhere that values service more and doesn't discriminate against those who don't want a ton of extras with their meal. Sorry Savoy, not everyone needs a 9 course feast.
