We came to STK for to have a celebratory birthday dinner for my husband. We were a party of 9, who they tried to stuff into a booth initially. As soon as I asked about changing to a bigger table, we were accommodated no questions asked.
Now that we're comfy in a bigger space, we started ordering drinks. Unfortunately my alcoholic beverage wasn't very alcoholic lol, however, we ended up with a free alcoholic drink since the server delivered one to the wrong table. They also missed delivering a coke for someone at our table for most of the dinner.
While I make mention of these things, I'm not saying we had a negative experience. Our server was phenomenal, he even massaged my mother's arm when she complained about her fingers locking up. His service really was everything.
Because the food... hmmm... Some of us started with a wedge salad which is easily enough for 2 people and very good. I shared a 28 oz ribeye with hubby, and it was decent, not great, but it didn't suck. Would a pay $115 for that again, no. We also ordered just about every type of potato on the menu, mashed, tater tots and hasbrowns. They were out of the hashbrowns which i was really looking forward to trying. The mashed were AMAZING!!! Even better than my own. Very buttery and smooth with hints of citrus (according to someone else, I didn't taste citrus). The tater tots, also very good. The sauce they came with was spicy, but a good accompaniment. In addition to most of the potatoes, we also ordered all the mac and cheese. Before I review this, I am admittedly hard on restaurant mac and cheese. It's almost always more of a mac soup with hints of cheese and cheese on top. These mac's are similar, except they are garlic heavy. Now while I understand the rest of the world loves garlic and wants it infused in everything, GARLIC DOES NOT GO IN EVERYTHING. Mac and cheese should carry a cheese flavor, be cheesy enough to get some cheese pulls and not be bland. The not bland part really only requires salt and pepper. IDC IDC, if you are making mac with onion, garlic or any other powder, it's not being done right.
They then finished us off with some chocolate cake and a piece of cheesecake to celebrate my husband, both were good. My only other issue, I can't help but compare this to Mastros. The prices are similar (STK is more expensive with some of the items) but the quality is not. One thing I missed that we get at Mastros is having all of our leftovers boxed up by the staff and brought to you in cute little bags. All in all though, it was a cool experience. I won't rush to do it again, but will probably be back. One last note, be sure to ask what comes on/in things if you have allergies or dislikes. They do not list out all ingredients on the menu.
