The Rooftop On 6th

They are discriminated against people that didn’t dress fancy. They did not let me enter their bar because I wrap my hair. Discrimination is not OK. You judge people the way they look they don’t know who I am because I’ll wrap my hair that discriminated against me that cannot enter their bar. Me and my family and friends so we never entered that bar again.

if you're interested in getting your phone stolen this is the place for you! the management of the bar has been aware of this for years and they have done nothing to help solve this issue. even if your phone is securely stored in your purse you are not safe. i have heard this happening to other people and now it happened to me.

Me and 5 other people got their phone stolen when I came, seems to be a common issue at this bar. Don't think they care much about it being a reoccurence.

Appearances can be deceiving. But if your walking down the sidewalk on Barton Springs rd, like I was, you will be tempted to go in there. I recommend it.

My daughter and her friends were here for a fun night and got her phones stolen. A few of them went back a second time with another group of friends and guess what? Phones were stolen again. This second time the phones had trackers and find-my-phone on. Where did the phones ping? First in a BestBuy in Houston. We called Houston police and, unlike lazy Austin Police, they did respond. Unfortunately, by the time they got to the BestBuy phones had been picked up. The girls followed the phones for a few days and the phones ended up in Miami!! Now, no one bothers to take just two phones cross country from Austin. That is basically organized crime and very likely the phones were with a shipment. Based on all the complains I see here of the same issue, this bar (and owners) have to know what’s going on and that it is organized crime. Even worse, I’m surprised Austin Police cannot see a pattern; thus they may be in it as well. So do yourself a favor and don’t go to this bar.

Thief den, My friend got her phone stolen, happens often to people here according to the reviews. They let minors in they don’t care about fake ids, Hard to even move it’s way too packed- no capacity management. Hard to breathe because of all the people way too hot inside as well. Also the poles don’t spin

Absolutely had the best time the drinks were good best vibes out of all the clubs will define returning and bringing more friends. The dj idk what's his name but you were definitely my fave part of the night he played songs that I wanted to hear with no fuss and literally got on my FaceTime call and woot woot with me😂😂😂 also kept the creepy dude away from me while I was in my own world dancing. Rooftop sounded like a cool spot to hang out from the outside. They have a DJ and dance floor. Was not feeling the club vibes they had. We weren't feeling the energy here, we got a drink and left. Jame & Ginger - $10

DO NOT GO HERE! My wallet got stolen out of my purse, girls in the bathroom had their phones stolen. Bartenders didn't seem to care and just shook their head when I asked if they had seen my wallet. Called the phone but every time the line was busy or broken.

Place is a total scam. Door guy will say cheap wells but they hit you with a minimum sur charge on your credit card. Basically price gouging you. Don't get scammed and avoid this place at all costs. Would give it 0 stars.

This place is honestly disgusting, and drinks are terrible. You enter onto sticky steps of stairs, where your shoes get stuck to the floor with each step. Once at the top, there's barely any room to navigate into the main room with poles. These poles aren't cleaned between uses or anything. The music is just alright.

We have been lots of places in austin, but i don't recommend this place to people who come. It is not a rooftop, and they charge an automatic 20% so watch out! Lots of college students, but don't recommend to people. If you are there make sure not to tip since they include it already.

I'm not going to say anything, but the fact that my 21 year old sister was at the door and I went to go get her. The bouncer pushed me on the floor 3 times. I don't know if he was drunk or high or racist, but it's just messed up to push someone down the floor 2 times for no reason. Hope it doesn't happen to anyone just be careful.

This is coool except their drinks kind of suck huge a$$. It's fine for everyone. Unless you like bars that are good, then probably not you. Three stars. .

I am confused why I stayed as long as I did. You ever go somewhere and say, "I should have stayed home and ordered-in"? Those were our literal feelings. Do not waste your time or money. Thank me later.

I don't know who Dj'd tonight but it was NOT good. They desperately need to expand their DJ budget and find someone who knows what they're doing. 4/10.

The 2nd floor bartender saw me but she was too busy talking. Never got serve so I walked away.

This establishment needs to be shut down. I would give it negative stars. My daughter and her friends were at this " establishment" last night. My daughter and her friend both had their phones stolen. They did not leave their phone" unattended", as the management said they must have. My daughters phone was taken out of her purse, and her friends phone was taken out her pocket. My daughter also said that she knew of others that had been there, and also got their phones stolen!! The management seems very unhelpful, and could care less! DO NOT GO HERE!!!

This place is interesting and smack dab in-between two of my usual frequents, Library and Aquarium ... There isn't anything particularly awesome about this place except that later at night it becomes super packed so the roof top feature no longer helps you escape the crowd and the heat. They are apparently owned by some younger people, and you can kind of tell. Everything is sort of messy, and people are forgetting drink orders and confusing bills etc. Drinks are cheap-ish, crowd is feisty and bartenders cannot keep up this late at night. Generally just another place to check out I suppose.

I got denied entry to this super sleazy bar because I had Jordans on. Mind you this was with nice jeans and a Gucci shirt. They literally have a sign saying no basketball shoes but there's people in shorts and flip flops walking in. Sad that they seem to be targeting a specific population.

BEWARE!!!! Pickpockets everywhere. iPhone stolen the other night and when we were looking for it, we found a sea of iPhone cases on the floor so obviously we weren't the only ones who got robbed. Low end dangerous place. Management probably in on it. BEWARE

Horrible place! DO NOT GO HERE! Left to go home, got halfway down the street to realize my friends wallet was gone. Immediately turned around to check the bar. The bouncer refused to let us in because it was about closing time and said we had to wait till everyone left the bar. Waited outside for 20 minutes just for him to close the door and lock it without letting us look for her wallet. Reviews about pick pockets and horrible management all true! Very unhelpful and rude! Probably in on the thieving!

If I could write a review with out having to handout a single star I would, they deserve 0/5. I paid $300 for a table at their NYE event and lasted 30 minutes at the event before being kicked out. Beings that it was hot inside I stepped out to grab some air when the bouncer/ticket taker decided it was in their best interest to ask me a silly questionnaire to let me back inside and when my answer did not meet their expectations they decided I was "too drunk" to be let back in. Wasn't drunk, just couldn't walk in high heels, thanks for robbing me of my money although I'll rob you of ever recommending your facility. 0/5 stars, don't waste your money or time here.

If you're into the college scene this place is definitely for you. Went twice while I was in Austin, first night was great, DJ played great music but the second night it was after a college football game and some of the students was just acting ridiculous. Still would recommend to check out if bar hopping. They do have a $10 card minimum FYI.

I was here last weekend for ACL... I made a couple different transactions while being here...An Employee wrote in tips on my bills after I already drew lines through the tip section. This is unacceptable I will be following up with management.

Yikes. If you like meat markets and overcrowded places, go here on a Saturday night. Not my scene - but other, more intoxicated, people seemed to really enjoy it.

This is a bar that seems more fitting for West 6th street but its actually a really nice fit for 6th street. The owners are young and hip. They come from the San Marcos area... so its pretty populated with good looking Texas State girls. The interior is beautiful wood and TVs. They have an indoor and outdoor patio with a retractable rooftop. Very modern and clean looking... a nice addition to the block. Best of luck to them!

Avoid this place. My daughter, along with about 10 others, had cell phones pick-pocketed and received zero assistance or concern from staff. Seems to be a regular occurrence at this bar.

Saturday 8/18 This is the first time I've been here. Since the city shut down my two favorite places, I had to scope out another place that played some awesome hip hop so my girls and I could get our dance on. Even though it was pouring rain outside, this place was packed, and got busier as the night went on. Lots of places to stand on and dance on (with the help of random poles). Excellent place to watch white-girl wasted train wrecks.

Disrespectful staff member touched me when I said don't touch me and started to grab me and I grabbed back. If your going to disrespect women like that then you need new staff team or no business will stay there period. On top of that I have a bruise now from him touching disrespectfully. So thanks

First time at this place was a Saturday night-- was a human circus + fire hazard. I have absolutely nothing against a good stripper-pole dance competition but after chatting with the locals I felt as if I needed to purell my entire body. I also do not suggest you call a bar "Rooftop" unless there is actually a rooftop area associated with it --I also really don't think if you can call it a "bar" if there is only two bartenders working on a Saturday night.... I think those are called "bistros." Contradictions aside, I'll probably go back. maybe the 2nd time will be the charm!

If you want to experience 6th street the way you're suppose to you have to stop by here! Drinks are great and the staff is even better. Just an all around fun place to be

Well, the name of the bar is a little misleading. Yes, I walked up a couple of flights of stairs, but not to a rooftop. I'm hoping that since it was a little chilly outside that there may have been some convertable roof contraption that just was not open when I went up there... Somehow I magically persuaded the door guy to give me a free drink token, then a few of my friends also got a free drink token, and I didn't feel as special. Either way, it got us to check out Rooftop. It's a typical bar on Dirty 6th that just opened and is trying to get anybody in the door. A couple of things that were cool were the photobooth and the MONEY BOOTH! Yes, I said MONEY BOOTH! Apparently if you are a hot girl turning 21, and the manager agrees that you are a hot girl turning 21, you can go into the money booth! I'm talking about those booths that blow money around and you grab as many bills as you can! While I didn't get to see the money booth in action, I'm sure it would add a lot of entertainment to the night. I don't know if I can see my friends and I going to Rooftop regularly, but then again, we go to some really crappy bars on 6th, so who knows!

Great Venue! Bartenders are cool, The dj is awesome! Live bands were a success! The 2 stars missing goes to the Bouncers... when someone leaves and tell them got to close out a tab, they push you out instead of understanding so it wont reported to the bank!

The Rooftop Bar, known for being the place where you or your friend's phone gets stolen. My phone was stolen last night and every girl I talked to wasn't surprised because either their phone was also stolen or their friend's was last week.

Not really a rooftop bar since it is not open to the air. Pro: Good area in the front if you are a smoker. Drinks are good and service fast. Good music but its DJ dependent. Con: Small, it is hard to move from your drinking area to the bar sometimes.

Young, mixed crowd. The front room is well lit compared to the extremely dim lighting in the back. Nothing too special about this bar but I don't have any complaints either.

Brought a group of out of town guests downtown and we ended up having an excellent time at Rooftop. The bottle service was more than reasonable and the atmosphere had something for everyone. Great time.

My phone was stolen from here lastnight. I tried to ask an employee for help once it went missing but he was very rude. This is the second time this has happened to me here. Multiple people have had their phones stolen as well at the same time. If you decide to go here i would be very careful with your belongings.

We were checking out bars and stumbled across this crap bar. The rooftop view is nice but that's about it. The bartender was rude and we paid for $12 glasses of cranberry. Total was $24 dollars on two of their crap drinks. We took some selfies on the rooftop and left. Avoid this place!!

I am creating a Yelp account specifically to give this place a HORRIBLE rating! During a weekend trip to Austin, I and several friends wandered down to 6th to have a good time. Before I get into things, a little backstory about me, I had lived in Texas most of my life but about 7 years ago moved to Arizona, and have since moved back here but my License is still an Arizona one where my parents live! Anyways, I was the last of my friends to arrive to the front of the line so as I watched them go inside I handed my ID to the entrance bouncer. He saw that it was out of state and asked me for my DOB, name, and address. I gave him my DOB, name, and stumbled slightly on the address... it had been awhile since I actually lived there, and by that time I was a bit faded too! He shoved me off to the side and told me to get out of there. I told him that I could show him more identification and other things with my name on it as well and he treated me like I didn't exist. There were two other bouncers at the exit door. Since my friends were long gone and inside by now I decided to see what they could do for me. I calmly told them the situation and that I was over 21 (23 years of age) and that I had merely not lived at the address listed on my ID for some time now but do have even more supporting identification to show them. The guy told me that it was a fake and tried to peel my ID! He said he was only trying to help me out by telling me it was obvious my ID was fake and that I got it the same place he got it....... where would that be? Official state licensing? Duh! He even asked me and people around us for a knife so he could start trying to peel whatever he thought was there, off!! By that time I had texted my friends and they were on their way down and out again. When they came out I told them what was going on and they all had a good laugh at these guys. When the 2nd bouncer saw how much of a joke he really was he threw a temper tantrum and threw my license on the ground and made me pick it up and walked inside. I nor my friends will ever be back. Your bouncers are your first impression of your bar. I understand the need for big tough guys in a situation like this but being a douchebag doesn't help anyone. There are so many other bars on 6th with more laid back, relaxed, polite yet professional bouncers these guys were just jokes.

Wow would give this 0 stars if I could. My boyfriend, who is 21 and from Connecticut, tried to come here and they would not accept his ID because it was out of state- they assumed it was fake. He pulled up multiple pictures of his car and license plate to prove he is from Connecticut and they refused to accept it. He also showed his entire wallet, provided credit cards, and other information that showed his birthday. This is outrageous and unacceptable. The bouncers were rude and failed to listen to logic reason and PROOF. Never coming here again. Awful service and would NOT recommend. Go to Aquarium next door! They can actually tell what a real ID is.

DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR. Bouncers DO NOT CARE if you're pick pocketed. Before I continue with my story I want you all to know that my friends and I were completely SOBER. I Went with a group of 8 girls for a bachelorette... my friends phone was stolen from her CLOSED purse... she felt a guy get really close to her and immediately realized what he had done.. bouncers were NO help at all.. they shrugged their shoulders and showed NO interest in helping us find it at all. My friends and I showed a lot of frustration and we're up and down the bar looking for the phone. Then miraculously the phone turned up at the bar... literally 2 minutes after this, a different girl in the group was pick pocketed as well... this time it was a wallet... again we got the same response from staff.. 2 minutes later it showed up at the bar ... the entire situation was sketchy and honestly makes me question the staff itself.

First time at this place. Over all it was ok, was pretty packed for a Thursday night. I would go back for sure, and hopefully next time another bartender, seemed to take a while as they only had a couple. Worth checking out for sure.

I love this place! I am not a huge fan of East 6th (dirty) but this is the one bar I love to go to! We go here to dance because they have great DJs that play music you don't get to hear on West 6th. I have always had a great time here!

I don't understand what this place is doing here?... and there is some campy money booth for people to get in and try to catch dollars? I'm confused? The bartenders were not the friendliest or fastest moving... even when there weren't many people in there. I don't think ill be back anytime soon.

I went to rooftop when they opened last year around Halloween. It was awesome. I describe it as a west sixth street bar on dirty sixth. The bartenders there were very fast in getting drinks to all the drunks, lol. I have been back there a few times since. They have a photo booth, money booth and 2 long bars. I'm sure about their prices for drinks cause everytime I go, i tend to forget that part. But overall, the drinks and atmosphere there are what i myself like. The Dawg

I just wanted to leave my .02 about this bar. During SXSW I came to The Rooftop Bar to see a scheduled performance by one of my friends. Well, I get to the door and the "bouncer" guy informs me that I can come in but the guy I am with cannot. Why can't he come in ? The bouncer said because of his shoes aka nike sneakers. I was wearings scuffed up combat boots, ripped jeans but my attire was deemed more acceptable than his. My friend told me I could go up to catch the show without him, but I didn't want to patronize this bar after the blatant discrimination. I don't know what type of establishment lets hip hop artist perform at their venue, then turn people away at the door DURING SXSW (of all times) for wearing hip hop gear. I frequent Austin often as well as attend SXSW every year but I will make it a point to not spend any of my drink money or time here.

Worst place on 6th street the bartender was RUDE!!!! We ordered 2drinks and didn't bother leaving a tip because we were planning on leaving a tip before we left with cash instead of credit card.as we were standing by the bar the bartender told us we had to move because that place was only for people that actually leave a tip my husband was upset by hearing this and said very loudly "wow seriously dumbass" the bartender heard him snatched the $8 drink we had just paid for and threw it before we could even take a sip and threatened to call security we were so shocked because we didn't feel like we did anything wrong first of all it's not mandatory to tip 2nd he shouldn't have been so rude what happened to the customer is always right ...worst experience ever

I went their last night with two pretty girls and my husband. He was told he could not get in because he was wearing a white shirt, but they let two other men in right after that were wearing white shirts. The guy at the door was very rude about it when I asked him why he let the other men in with white shirts and threw his hands in my face. My husband is a classy guy and we don't actually ever come out to dirty 6th, so I was very surprised he was turned away, especially with three girls that were dressed up. That incident validated why dirty 6th bars are sh*tty and we won't waste our time giving it another chance.

great music and atmosphere. plus the bar is so clean, especially for being a 6th street bar! drink specials would be nice but i love this place non the less.

this is an interesting bar. it had the best circulation so i opted to stay here haha. they have an interesting dance floor with a few raised areas where people gather around and dance on it. it was ratchet hahaha. and im sure lots of people fall...esp if their wearing hooker heels. haha its just not a good idea. music was okay here just okay.

So for a bachelorette party we decided to go bar hopping on sixth street. This was my first time in Austin and I had never heard about 6th street before this. I'm not a huge drinker or bar hopper or anything like that. But that doesn't mean I don't like to check them out occasionally. So this ended up being our last stop. It was a pretty cool idea to make the bar and dance area a roof top. Of course they had walls up there but the concept is cool. When you walk in you immediately have to go up some stairs to get to the "rooftop." It was cool. They had some poles that girls are dancing on. The DJ was okay, he played mostly good music. It wasn't that crowded when we first arrived but after about 45 minutes here they were packed. Prices for drinks I am unsure of because I was DD so I stopped drinking way before this place so I'm not exactly sure how much drinks were here. Overall, it was a fun bar.
