The Philly Smashburger Power Rankings - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"The Rook has eight smashburgers on their menu, and you can get them at either the Manayunk or Fishtown location of the sandwich shop. And while they range from being drenched in marinara to topped with crispy onion rings, it’s the “O” Double that keeps us coming back again and again. It’s not super smashed, but the patties are squeezed enough to get a nice sear on them. Topped with american cheese, onions, and ketchup, it’s a timeless burger combination that reminds you why sometimes classic is best." - candis mclean

The 14 Best Bar & Restaurants In Manayunk - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"This house-like neighborhood bar has cozy wood interiors and a nice outdoor space where you can get a few small bites and drinks with friends. Located far enough up Main Street that you’re not in the middle of the action, the walls of TV’s, large bar space, and polished interiors don’t take away from the t-shirt-heavy atmosphere. Pair your beer with the melt-in-your-mouth cheesesteak and crispy wings before returning to a day of nearby bicycle and record shops." - candis mclean

The Rook On 4th - Review - Fishtown - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"You’ll hear the Phillies game or music coming from this Fishtown spot before you set foot on its large, outdoor patio (with tables but no chairs). The main events here are the smashburgers—all eight options on the menu are solid, but our favorite is The Rook, a messy mashup of melty american, bacon, creamy long hot mayo, and crispy shoestring onion rings. Pair it with an order of golden crinkle-cut fries, take in the sun, and don’t miss an inning while you do. FYI—there’s an outpost on The Rook in Manayunk, so you can chow down there, too. video credit: CANDIS R. MCLEAN photo credit: CANDIS R. MCLEAN Pause Unmute" - Candis R. McLean

I work around the corner and wanted to try their food. I ordered the chicken cheesesteak. It is bland, barely chicken and the condiments are little to none. The little guy who served me was rude and wouldn’t give me a bag. He told me to carry my sandwich in my hand. I made him give me a bag. I will not be back. Order at your own risk. This is half of the sandwich. I bit the other half already. It’s awful.

The single smash burger is only $5 plus 25cents for toppings. I added fried onions and pickles and it was bangin. Very hot, very fresh.

Stopped by on a whim tonight, classic steak was extremely good. The roll was solid (I think Sarcone’s). Meat was flavorful, juicy, and not fatty. Cooper and onions e were perfect. Excited to try some cutlets and the smash burgers.

Walked up to get a cheesesteak. Immediately I noticed the windows to order were sliding windows with screens (owner doesn’t like bugs around his customers food 💯) Inside was clean and organized. Loved the cheesesteak 💯💯

I ordered the fries with whiz and a cheesesteak through grubhub. It was ready for pickup super quick! The onions are .50 more even though on the menu posted to their IG they are included. The cheesesteak filling was absolutely delicious! The bread was decent, but was a little chewy, as if it had been warmed in a microwave. The filling was good enough to make up for it that I would happily order this again. The fries were pretty mushy and so hot that they melted the plastic of the cheese sauce container lid. The cheese sauce was not great. Even though I think the prices are pretty high for the neighborhood, I’m looking forward to trying some other sandwiches from this spot.

Great to have a new food place in the neighborhood. Food was crazy delicious. It’s a bit pricey unfortunately but you def get what you pay for if you want a speciality sandwich. Godfather cheesesteak was real tasty and flavor was on point. The bread they use for their sandwiches is really great too. Over all a great new food place in Olde Kensington.

I live in the area & wanted a quick bite for lunch,& was VERY pleased with this spot. I don’t eat meat & was able to order a regular menu burger with a plant-based patty with no issues. You order at the counter, your made is made to order,& they serve it to you in a brown paper bag. You can stay & eat at one of their stand-up tables as well. I stumbled across this place randomly & will be back many times in the future

Was so good I had to go on my other account to post the photos. Even after a night in the fridge, my sandwich stayed fresh, crispy and soft. Olive oil, and house dressing didn’t soggy the bread honestly enhanced the cuts. Shout out you guys. Peep my reaction 😭
