"The Rook has eight smashburgers on their menu, and you can get them at either the Manayunk or Fishtown location of the sandwich shop. And while they range from being drenched in marinara to topped with crispy onion rings, it’s the “O” Double that keeps us coming back again and again. It’s not super smashed, but the patties are squeezed enough to get a nice sear on them. Topped with american cheese, onions, and ketchup, it’s a timeless burger combination that reminds you why sometimes classic is best." - candis mclean

Located far enough up Main Street that you’re not in the middle of the action, the walls of TV’s, large bar space, and polished interiors don’t take away from the t-shirt-heavy atmosphere. "You’ll hear the Phillies game or music coming from this Fishtown spot before you set foot on its large, outdoor patio (with tables but no chairs). The main events here are the smashburgers—all eight options on the menu are solid, but our favorite is The Rook, a messy mashup of melty american, bacon, creamy long hot mayo, and crispy shoestring onion rings. Pair it with an order of golden crinkle-cut fries, take in the sun, and don’t miss an inning while you do.
