Rookery Café is a cozy gem in Juneau, blending a laid-back vibe with a diverse breakfast menu that promises tasty comfort in a bustling spot.
"There’s an adobo loco moco at the Rookery Cafe, the sister restaurant of In Bocca al Lupo, that Barril added to the permanent menu during her tenure there. A mantle of caramelized onions blankets the hamburger patty, and edges of the egg are fried to a lacy frill. The adobo sauce that cascades down the glacial mound of rice may recall demi-glace at first, but a taste betrays a closer cousin. Faintly sweet and pricked with pepper, it’s just thick enough to coat the back of a spoon." - Jennifer Fergesen
"A favorite breakfast and lunch spot in downtown Juneau with excellent espresso, the Rookery Cafe offers breakfast bowls, fresh baked pastries, salads, sandwiches, and a very nice burger. Good bets on the menu: the adobo loco-moco and very outrageous toast specials, including ingredients like caramelized corn flakes and sweetened condensed milk. It’s a friendly place to bring kids and there’s some communal dining." - Julia O'Malley
"Check out this awesome pop-up event with chef Beau Schooler from the Rookery Cafe in Juneau, Alaska. The James Beard semifinalist chef is doing a dinner on Thursday, March 21 with a focus on super-fresh seafood." - Farley Elliott
