The Roxy - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Let’s not forget that Sunset was once home to the most important music scene in the country. While those days are behind us now, the holy trinity of The Whiskey, The Roxy, and The Viper remain, each with their own long and extremely infamous histories. The Roxy remains the best place to get whiskey-hammered and listen to live music. Nobody has a more consistent lineup and better sound than this enduring icon. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

A great place to catch a show, though security was a bit uptight when we attended. They just seemed to have no personality whatsoever, and despite the band signing autographs/taking pictures with fans after the show ended, the overzealous security team tried to push people out. Not really impressed by the entire security team. Everyone else that we came across seemed relatively pleasant. The sound and lighting are pretty decent here. I do appreciate the water bottles being actual bottles with lids to prevent spilling. There is limited seating and it seems it’s a first come first served type of seating. All this said, the pros outweigh the cons and I’m certain we will return for future events.

Was there for Burnout Syndromes. Parking nearby is tricky, nearly got my rental locked in some business offices across the street. Once Roxy opened their parking lot, it was all good. At a very intimate stage, an artist really can get up on your face. I would go again! Update: Attended the LiSA: Another Great Day North America Tour. It was amazing! The only difference was that I came way later than I would normally go to events like this. There were vip booths that weren't available online. I saw the vip and general admission line and I got bummed out. Until I kept getting harassed by the security to get in the back of the line. He told me three times. It wasn't until the third time that there was a lady who was selling the VIP boots, which happened to be in the vicinity. It cost me an extra $150, It was totally worth it! I got there around 3:00 in the evening and got charged $40. $20 is day parking, $20 is for evening parking which if you park at daytime for $20, I shouldn't have been charged for even though I'm parked throughout the evening, thoughts?

A great spot for live music. The sound system was great, the space wasn’t too cramped despite being smaller, and the Shirley temple we had was great, albeit a bit pricey. There was free popcorn at the bar, it was crazy salty, but it was free! There’s a photobooth in the lobby which is super cute but out of focus!

Saw Tycho here last week. Its cozy and decently clean. Liked being close to the stage even though I got there late and it was crowded. Music was not blow-your-ears-out loud but at a comfy level even at the front of the stage due to the fact the speakers were located above the crowd. Valet parking in lot next to club was $20 on a Thur night.

First time here for a show. Not much to look at from the outside but inside was nice, modern, updated. Very clean, AC working. Men's restroom very clean as well. Sound system decent 👌 paid $6 for bottle water but I get it. Places like these charge high for drinks.

Went to the Roxy Theatre for Hayla and her debut solo performance. I haven’t been to the ROXY for quite a while, but it still has it. Magical fun and a great location with a ton of history. I love it all, but I especially love the music and the people.

Google
I always love the shows there. But it’s nothing special. They threw out my gum I didn’t really care though. Just didn’t want my breath to stink. It’s not like it’s the worst place ever it’s just kinda mid compared to other venues I’ve been to.

Google
Small intimate venue! Went and saw Ruel with soundcheck vip. loved the show - Parking is right on its lot or across the street. Sign says $20 but charged $30 for the show. No barriers and can be up to the stage. - at first everyone lined up in one line then when it came to get all the vip, it was very disorganized. It was only one guy taking care of the vips and how the line goes. He would say instructions but to the front and not very much parts of the line. It's a lot to organize I understand but it could've been better and we wouldn't have to take up the sidewalk as people walked by. + everyone can see the artist, it's good small venue

Yelp
I am writing this on my way home. This is a wonderful intimate venue with the capacity to fit 500 people. That being said, it can get very hot. I highly recommend wearing very light clothing because even with the AC on, its still extremely hot. but there is a bar in the back and if you ask the bartender for a cup of water, she'll give you a nice cup of ice water for free. It was a nice respite from the heat. I also recommend going to the bathroom before entering. They only have 2 rest room stalls in the little restroom for women and it gets cramped. But apart from that, you can get a wonderful view of the band from anywhere you stand. The sound quality was epic, and the band performing was incredible. Highly recommend going if you get the chance, but keep this in mind Oh and get an uber, parking is terrible.

Yelp
I've been to the Roxy twice now and it has the throne for my least liked venue. If you think "small venue," there are some pros that come with that - fairly quick security - good views of the stage regardless of where you are - intimate setting to feel closer with the artist Well, you will potentially get none of this at the Roxy. Both shows I attended, the Roxy couldn't get everyone in (people who showed up on time, mind you) before the show started so a good amount of people missed beginning of the show. They have one metal detector and one bag checker so... even with a capacity of just 500, they're doing those 500 one. At. A. Time. Speaking of capacity, I want to know where that 500 entails. Both shows I attended were sold out. Most recently, a portion of the venue appeared to be closed off for VIP- maybe like 20 attendees and additional 5-10 staff seemed to be in that area that was wide open in the back. That leaves like 470 people for what looks like 3/4 of the venue. Staff are constantly yelling at you to move or squish in so they can clear a walkway which is fair- it's a safety hazard to not have one. BUT squishing in feels unsafe so if you MOVE you can end up like... in the hallway in front of the entrance where you get no view of the stage... and ofc if you're that far, there is no intimacy with the artist. You would get some fresh air though! And that's something that's sorely missing from the main venue area. I know we have to sound proof but that's the hottest, mustiest, sweatiest, least ventilated venue I've ever been to so plan accordingly. There were signs for $20 parking which would be its only plus but I'm sure it's super limited so I don't know how great a perk that is. All in all, probably not a bad place if the show isn't sold out. But if an artist I didn't LOVE played at the Roxy, the venue it self would make me reconsider attending.

Yelp
Groundbreaking history makes this theater special. Way before he was Neil Old, Neil Young opened the theater in 1973. A few years later Marley recorded Live at the Roxy there, though, let's be real, it wouldn't have made sense to record Live at The Roxy anywhere else. It hosted the original U.S. run of Rocky Horror and the first Pee Wee Herman show. Celebs like Lennon and Nicholson hung out there- I saw Colin Farrell the last time I was there. He was in crutches. I think he got beat up by a critic.

Yelp
Have seen some great acts here since 1995. The staff and security are top notch. Never have any incidents or issues at the Rox.

Yelp
It's the iconic Roxy, and that alone makes it cool. Yes, it's small. Yes, it's warm/hot inside. Yes, it's kinda funky... But it's THE Roxy! During my recent visit, I found parking across the street for $20 easy, the staff efficient and the facilities fine. In all, nothing particularly noteworthy good or bad. However, being close to the stage in this small venue was awesome! And the sound was thunderous - BIG sound for a small place. A few $15 24 ounce Sierra Nevada brews and I was off to the races. 4 stars for The Roxy, what a night!
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic venue - big enough for a sizable party but small enough that you can enjoy the performances close up! Came to a special event here and had a great time. You can see the stage from any seat in the house. Staff was courteous and attentive. Parking is a problem. Most close by lots charge $20; there are meter parking spaces on the street but they are hard to find! Waiting in line can take a while too. Security was tight. You may want to come early. But overall a great theater.

Yelp
Went to see Black Smurf and IdontknowJeffrey at the iconic Roxy! The good: Workers were all very nice! Scanned my ticket quickly and I was in. Bartender made my drink strong and was also chill. I was right next to the stage and the sound was great! Bathrooms were surprisingly really clean as well. The bad: $4 for a water??????? It was so hot in there I felt like I was gonna pass out. Parking is a mess but thankfully I just walked there from my hotel. All in all a pretty good experience.

Yelp
music production here sounds great! bartender JASON is awesome & we're sooo glad to be able to be served by him. honestly, the man was moving swiftly across the bar counter tending to every thirsty patrons from left to right. people who stood in line would have something nice to say about him. He works very hard, leaving no one disappointed. DEFINITELY one of the coolest bartenders EVER! Roxy Theater! PLEASE GIVE HIM A RAISE! will definitely come back!

Yelp
I generally love the Roxy but they late canceled our show last week. Rumor is that the roof fell in because of the excessive rain. Hope they get it fixed and reopen quickly.

Yelp
I've been here so many times in my life I can't believe I haven't written a review! The vibe is super fun and the architecture is beautiful. My whole family loves this place. I definitely recommend watching shows here

Yelp
If you can get past parking in Hollywood, you're golden. I paid $20 to park in the next lot over. Roxy also has a $20 lot. It's a small, intimate (read: hot) theater which imo somehow adds to the indie music vibes. If you're worried about catching a cold or the flu, you should stay out of the crowd. A good choice might be to stand by the bar which is next to the entrance. Bonus: direct access to an emergency exit. There are three emergency exits btw, which you'll notice if you're the anxious type like me. Drinks are going to be expensive. It's a concert venue after all. At least they make them strong :) Had a great time here two nights in a row and recommend visit here to watch your favorite rising star.

Yelp
The Roxy Theatre is cool. I have only been here a few times, and watched a couple of popular bands perform here like Guns n Roses, Metallica, Warrant, and many other older bands. Place has one of the safest venues to have fun. Lines are really long if you get here late. I don't have to tell you how bad parking can be. But its fun at the Roxy.

Yelp
The Roxy has come a long way since the 90's when I last made it out here. Ignore all the bad reviews. I went here on a Tuesday night and it might as well have been a weekend. But here's the deal: Park around the corner for $10 The drinks are $16 with tip so plan accordingly The sound and view are best at the bar. Have fun.

Yelp
Ridiculously hot. Even in December. Turn the air on kids. Sound for X show was horrible.

Yelp
I was super excited when my favorite band announced a show at the Roxy, their first west coast tour in many years soon after I moved to Cali from the east coast. This was my 118th time seeing this band alone; I've been to a LOT of concerts at a LOT of venues in my life. Add 30+ friends to the mix + two incredible sets of music and this should have been an amazing night. It turned out to be the worst. Unfortunately, the venue and staff completely ruined the experience. First of all, the venue was unbearably hot with zero ventilation. This was a dance show and we were sweating our t!t5 off - yet still did our best to have fun. Security, however, was aggressively awful and even got physical with more than a handful of people. One staff guy barged up to the front of the floor with his arms outstretched just to push an entire group of us towards the stage. We had been doing nothing but dancing together with huge smiles on our faces; nobody in the crowd was acting poorly or belligerently. Another staff guy poured two beers on someone's head. Why?? And despite the overcrowdedness, they were crazy hardcore about nobody stepping even a toe onto the rug* between the dance floor and VIP area, constantly pushing and yelling at everyone. We saw one of the staff eventually get sent home for being TOO aggressive, but the remaining staff weren't much better. To cap it all off, going outside to catch some air was fine throughout the show, until my last attempt when I took two steps out and then two security guys suddenly wouldn't let me back in despite saying NOTHING about the outdoor area having just closed. They just yelled at me as they moved aside to reveal a sign they'd been blocking entirely. My husband was still inside. All of the staff's behavior was completely uncalled-for and straight-up mean, even violent. And I cannot stress enough that we were a friendly, kind, and money-spending crowd doing absolutely nothing warranting concern. Bonus fun: the women's bathroom was flooded with an active leak. Oh, and the sound is pretty bad. I will never return to support this venue. *which one could not claim tied the room together

Yelp
I was attempting to go to a show here this evening , but there are 4 opening bands and I was simply tryimg to find out the headliner time for their set. Their phone number as provided by Google is disconnected . Also the website had no info as did their social media. Not a good look for a venue that has its big 50th anniversary coming up.
google avatar

Anna Y.

Yelp
The employees at this venue are some of the rudest, meanest employees I have ever encountered. Have you ever wondered where bullies who have 0 skills go to work after they peak in high school? It's here. The clear power rush that they got from belittling and degrading guests was pathetic. A simple question was open season for ridicule. And to the woman working the front, talking about how everyone probably thinks you're a b*tch - we do, and you are. Otherwise, the venue was okay and the ambiance was there once the concert started.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Hm. What to say. If there is someone you'd like to see and totally love, it's small. Probably houses 300 people or so. The bottled water was maybe $4 or something like that which is reasonable at a venue and for one who isn't drinking. The bathrooms were clean when I used them ahead of the show. It to me, is a decent small local venue. I flew in for a show. I wasn't a fan of the opening Dj chick. I felt she got way more stage time that necessary and may have helped pumped the show up if she had an hour but it was way too long. AAgain, it's tough to review because I'm uncertain as to how much was the venue and how much were the artists. Seemed a bit of a clusterf***, if I'm being honest. I was also right up against the stage which might be why the sound wasn't all that great from where I was standing. I did not like the inhalation of everyone's supply that was around me. Sober lady here, and the smell reminded me of some back alley 1990 reefer off some brick. Bleck. That could have maybe been monitored a but, but come on, California, I guess. I was also bummed when I approached the merchant booth stockers couldn't be purchased on their own but with purchase only. Again, not sure if that was a venue thing or artist thing. Although, I'd have likely bought Roxy stickers for $3-5 just for the experience and memorabilia but nope they just wanted my water purchase I guess. Lastly, I said, I flew in. So when the show abruptly ended at exactly midnight, my ride was about an hour out. Staff was adamant about "get out", I did my best to kind of blend in for as long as I could until I was pushed all the way out. I was by myself and I wasn't entirely thrilled at the idea of sitting out alone on the streets of LA lol fortunately, I really do a good job of blending right in, to backgrounds, stairways, appearing as a part of a group until they're gone. It was late, no traffic and my ride arrived about 30 minutes early. Thank goodness. Would I go back? Only if there was someone I absolutely had to see and couldn't live without seeing and it was the last/only show or something like that. I managed to catch the same group where I am in a lot in the back of an establishment a couple weeks later and the sound was crisp and clear comparatively.
google avatar

Yelp
The space here is small enough where any spot you pick will be decent. If you're short though, you might need to be a little more thoughtful on your spot. The place has an intimate feel as you're close to the performance. A nice place to see your favorite indy bands. I haven't used the parking lot. Instead, I was able to find free street parking at Doheny street. Careful when parking there, cause most spots are permit reserved. So I had to drive a few blocks south to find the free spots. The food and drinks are pricy, but that's expected from a Hollywood area. The real reason I'm giving this a 4/5 is because the sound mixing wasn't the best. I was watching this band called the Covet, and I wasn't able to hear the vocals of the lead guitarist. But the instrumental mixing was decent.
google avatar

Taylor O.

Yelp
I love this venue, it's small enough that no matter where you stand you have a good view, and the back area with the bar is elevated so everyone can see. The VIP area on the left is spacious and out of the way of the crowd. This is a classic venue, where the biggest issue is parking (Uber if you can, they TOW in West Hollywood)
google avatar

Shirley L.

Yelp
I went to a concert at ugh my friend here yesterday to see Cannons, super cool place! Honestly best concert I've been too everyone was having a blast. I do think they over crowded the place like it's maximum capacity should be less in order to leave room for people to breath and not get drinks spilled on others I feel like because there was so many people in such small venue we didn't get a chance to really enjoy. But overall we don't drink so not sure how the drinks are but we did buy none alcoholic beverages and the bartenders were all great! Super fun, I think the one that kept holding up a sign that said she couldn't talk should've just stayed home. They do sell food but it's super limited. 8/10

Yelp
I got to see one of my favorite artists (Victor Internet) perform at The Roxy! A nice spacious safe professional environment! And of course the outside sign looks astounding

Yelp
Really iconic place on sunset! Lots of history and great venue, my friends and I really enjoyed it here. We found a safe parking lot across the street located at 9026 sunset. Will definitely be back again for another venue

Yelp
Molly is an absolute angel. I always have so much fun here and the shows and staff always go above and beyond, but the last time we visited Molly went so far out of her way to make us feel special and valued that I needed to leave a review. She is so kind, warm, and professional!! Thank you!
google avatar

Dani M.

Yelp
Extremely unprofessional employee at the front door rolling her eyes and laughing in people's faces the manager and security guard were "just doing their jobs" and that's understandable but I ca hardly call enforcing bs and unclearly communicated rules a job.
google avatar

Larry K.

Yelp
Great venue with good sound. Was pretty crowded for reggae show. Could definitely have better ai circulation, especially during Covid Era, but a fun place.
google avatar

Yelp
I've got tons of memories from this place. I saw one of my most favorite bands play here back in 2004, and I kept coming back to this venue ever since. The venue is super small, the music is loud, the line at the bar is full, and sure, you might come out sweating, but if you're there to see a good band, you're most likely gonna walk out of there having a good night. Don't expect a high end venue as this place has no frills. Even the bathroom is older and a bit run down, but there's just so much history to this venue. I mean, come one - this venue is located on Sunset Strip and has been around for ages! Keep an eye out on their site as sometimes they have large acts playing secret shows here.
google avatar

Celine E.

Yelp
Went to see Weston Estate perform on a Monday night. It was pretty good. The venue is pretty small, and so was the crowd. It was just what we wanted for a chill monday night. We stood in the back by the bar and just vibed while ordering drinks. We also ordered some chicken strips and fries which was perfect to share for the 2 hr performance. If there's a small/local artist performing here I totally recommend going. Not so sure about bigger performers. Feels like it could get stuffy and gross in their quick. Parking sucks. Residential parking requires a permit or you risk getting towed. There was a very limited amount of coin parking, so we had to pay to park at a tiny lot across the street where they charged $20 till midnight. Hopefully next time we find a cheaper alternative for parking, but regardless super awesome venue for small performers!

Bill S.

Yelp
Staff is great. Venue is also great. Very prompt with the acts. Clean venue as well. The VIP seats are close but since they are low it's hard to see over people standing in front of you and I'm 6'4. I left my seats to stand in the crowd. Still had an amazing time and Cheif Adjuah and the opening acts were incredible.

Yelp
THE ROXY ON THE SUNSET STRIP IS NOT BAD ======================================= DETAILS: ======== Bought tickets spur of the moment for the Alt Nation Advanced Placement Tour for Hembree, Bloxx and Warbly Jets on Thursday, June 13, 2019. I read most of the Yelp reviews ahead of time because I had not been to The Roxy in a few decades at least. The reviews were mixed. Some people love it. Some people hate it. It's a smaller place and mostly standing room only, however my friend and I got there around an hour before the first band and we lucked out. A nice security guard named Quincy said we could sit at a little table in the VIP section because it wasn't reserved that night.. The view of the stage was perfect from there as well. BAND NOTES: ============ Hembree was my main reason for going. They sound great on their recordings, but live wasn't as good. Love all the guitars, but the lead singer's voice seemed a bit off. They're from Kansas City. Bloxx who are from the UK are o.k.. Their lead guitar player is really good, but I'm not really impressed with them. Warbly Jets was the headliner from L.A. After last night I am not a fan of them at all. Too much synthesizer and screaming for my taste. We listened to about three of their songs and bailed. PARKING: ========= Again, some people say there is a lot of parking. My motto is the early bird gets the worm. We got there a couple hours early and there are plenty of lots. There's a structure across the street for $10, but I didn't notice it until after we paid $15.00 for a nice little lot about a block northwest of The Roxy. DINING: ======= There are lots of restaurants within walking distance, so just get there a couple hours early and just walk around. We chose Dough Pizzeria & Bar about two blocks east of The Roxy. The service was good and they have a decent menu. Just bookmark some places before you go. I wouldn't recommend getting food at the The Roxy because you may end up standing while you are eating. RECOMMENDATION: ================= I'd go back again if it was a band I really wanted to see.

Yelp
Please, please, PLEASE improve the air flow of The Roxy. I felt especially bad for the performers, dripping and drenched with sweat on stage. Towards the end, I felt like I could barely breathe because it was so hot, stuffy, and poorly ventilated - hundreds of sticky, moving bodies crammed into a tiny space... not the most pleasant of experiences! Alas, sometimes sacrifices must be made for the things you love. :) While the show we saw was fantastic, the venue conditions were unfortunate. We took a Lyft to/from the venue instead of dealing with parking, which was very convenient for us - it seems like a rather busy area. There's a men's bathroom next to the stage, and a women's bathroom near the entrance. People started lining up outside before noon for the 8pm show. If you desire a good spot and are willing to wait for hours, be sure to bring some helpful provisions - there's minimal shade, especially in the summer. Some people came with umbrellas and lawn chairs, which was smart. If you bring a friend, you can also take shifts to take breaks / get food / use the bathroom. +2 stars for the sound quality and intimacy of this small venue (500 capacity). After waiting in line for hours, we squeezed into a nice position in front of the center of the stage, close enough to touch the vocalist (though we refrained from doing so) and watch his sweat pool onto the stage floor, which was amazing. I think even if we'd been farther back, it would've felt really intimate. The music was extremely crisp, and the instrumentation seemed well-balanced - I like being able to pick out backing notes and vocals. Anyway, that's all it really had going for it... Overall, would go again if I really liked the artist, but otherwise would avoid.

Daniel M.

Yelp
I came with a group of friends and they didn't let me friends because we had a drink and they didn't let us. So we finished the drink before we went in there and they said nope we can't go in because of the drink. I said no I finished it already and they said no still, unbelievable experience never coming again to this place I wish I can give -2 star. Do better Roxy and ur sercurity sucks can't do the job right.

Vanessa

Yelp
The lady at the front told me my tickets were for an 11 o clock show when in actuality they were for an 8pm show. She sabotaged me and my tickets. I drove almost three hours to arrive and be turned away and then let in at 10 because I insisted my tickets were for 8. We walk in and he is singing the last song and it's over. I wasted almost 300 for nothing. I want my money back Roxy

Ryan G.

Yelp
Came in with some issues with tickets. Molly, the director out front had so much patience in figuring out our issue. Everyone made us feel so welcome and valued. The Roxy is an old establishment and can tell it stay going with people like this.

Yelp
Maybe it's because we were in the VIP section, but I doubt it. The Roxy Theatre is very impressive and a damn good time when you are in LA. Located right off Sunset Blvd, parking can be a challenge, they have valet on the left side of the Theatre, shared with the restaurant next door. It's convenient but tricky to find if you aren't looking. So many musical legends have played here. If you do research before hand you will have a great understanding of what an honor it is to be in this iconic building. They all have photos of celebs who have played on the walls. The drinks are very reasonably priced and the bar tender gets to you pretty quickly despite how busy it can get. They also serve food but cut it off at a certain time of night. We went to see Anthony Ramos who is currently recording a new album. It was standing room only at that point on the main floor but that didn't stop anyone from having a blast. The VIP section has a few tables and booths as well as drink service and is elevated so you can see above the crowd. The sound is great in this venue! It's a smaller and more intimate venue (which is almost always better than huge), that being said, the bathrooms are smaller than expected and their can be quite the wait when it's crowded. Everyone was very welcoming and we had a great time. I would definitely go back to see another artist. Pro-tip. If VIP is available do it - its worth it to have drink service and be able to see above the crowds. If you want to get on the floor all you have to do it walk down and you can get back into VIP anytime. Second Pro-tip. The Roxy has the BEST website I have ever seen. Very informative and full of humor. Check it out before you go.

Yelp
This place was amazing. I went for the first time to see The Grouch and Eli perform. The places was packed so it did take forever to get a drink but that's part of the experience. It was well kept and the bathrooms were up to par. Great venue every area is a great seat but I was standing in the front. Will for sure come back!

Yelp
Great place. Great show. Bathrooms clean, staff nice. Parking was easy. Had a spot for smoking as well. Would go back again

Yelp
First of all- the parking is a total joke. The parking attendants were incredibly unprofessional and rude from beginning to end. Second, the venue needs some airflow. Everyone was so hot inside it was hard to enjoy the music.

Yelp
The venue is a nice place but be prepared to have a hard time looking for parking or youll need to pay for valet. I suggest doing a ride share if you can. Besides the venue being nice inside there is nothing else. The drinks ( at least the one I was served from the bartender who is an older woman with red hair) were decent. The same bartender was very rude and for no apparent reason. Maybe she was having a hectic night (no one was at the bar when I ordered) but that doesn't excuse for staff to be rude and lie to the security- then leave the scene when asked about the made up stories. The security needs better training as well. Not sure where the entitlement comes from but seriously there needs to be some form of management available at the venue to speak to when encountering problems. So if you want to come to possibly have a good time just eat and drink beforehand and stay away from the bar

Yelp
Saw Breathe Carolina... not a bad seat in the house! Parking all over the area for $10 flat. Drinks and food served. Great sound quality. Would love to come back for more shows!!

Yelp
A great positive experience! I got tix to see The Score for my son. I already anticipated the Hollywood scene and my biggest pet peeve and anxiety-inducer,, searching for parking. Fellow Yelper advised me that there's ample parking and to try next door at The Rainbow Bar & Grill. Just $10. The parking attendant led us to the back lot by walking ahead and directing us to a spot. Note, this area is narrow and tight. One way in and another way out but it's gated. You need to wait until The Roxy opens up after the show in order to exit. Regarding the venue, it's a smallish square space with a bar in the back and a typical stage up front with a black curtain. On one side is where Roxy and band merch is sold. The other side is a limited area to sit. Not VIP but first come, first serve. Hubs hung out at the railing with a great vantage point, just a few steps up while my teenaged son and I went to the standing room area. Security are stickers and monitor the areas that need to.stay clear for safety reasons. I didnt even know that under 21 was allowed here, but I guess it depends on the act. My kid had a great time. Two emerging bands with a following opened, Talker and Dead Poets' Society. The staff is friendly, low key. Non-alcoholic drinks $4 each. Fun night, I would definitely come back to this place that has such a long history.

Yelp
I went there recently to watch an artist play. I have to say the bartenders were really good super Kind and had this great enthusiastic vibe to them. The staff upon entering and also leaving was very kind too!

Yelp
Been here twice and every single time I've gone I end up getting some type of cold or sore throat. First time I came here 3 days later I ended up with strep throat. Idk if they don't wash their cups or it's a super small space but I always end up getting sick here. 2nd time I came here I ended up with a head cold with a fever that triggered my canker sores. Place is dirty and people are prone to getting sick here. Health inspectors should investigate quality of cleaning

Yelp
Incredible venue with an amazing history of rock greats where you feel like you're part of the show, but man does it get hot. Dress appropriately and come ready to make some memories.

Yelp
Attended the Roxy for a performance on 6/16/23, Golden Features was playing. Overall, I had a great time! The music was amazing as was the energy and the venue was great! I've been coming to the Roxy for a while now and never had an issue. My only complaint is one of the bartenders. I ordered my first two drinks without an issue and received great service. When I bought my third/final drink of the night, I had a different bartender who was extremely rude. I never got her name but she was a chubby girl with dark hair wearing a black face mask. She served people who were showing up after me but I just figured it was busy and easy to lose track of who arrived first. I ordered my drink and paid but before leaving the bar she told me "I recommend you start tipping more or else we won't serve you", I had been tipping the minimum all night but the other two bartenders didn't seem to have an issue. I thought I had missed seeing her pour the liquor into my drink which was odd but when I sipped on my drink I realized this girl served me juice with no alcohol!!! Why am I paying $13 for juice?! The Roxy is great but needs to be better about assuring they have competent bartenders at all times!

Yelp
My gf and I recently attended the In Real Life concert, lol. Yes, we are old and still like boy bands. But not in a gross way. This place is tiny, stinky, and REALLY HOT AND HUMID inside. Please turn up the A/C up more, or install more fans. We didn't eat any snacks, but the onion rings smelled good. Tickets were cheap though, ample parking across the street in the paid lot.

Yelp
They won't give you water at the bar and say you can only buy a water bottle for $4 which is a HORRIBLE business practice, especially for a CONCERT VENUE where everyone is drinking and dancing....My boyfriend has health issues so they were willing to give me a cup of water but you shouldn't have to ask for that... Otherwise a nice venue. But please please just give customers cups of water, people are drunk and dehydrated. It's DANGEROUS.

Yelp
We attended the Dwight Yoakam show last week and it was our first time at the Roxy. We had high hopes for this classic, smaller venue. If this review were for the staff only, I would give 5 stars, especially for the bar staff. Unfortunately, the rest of our experience was so bad that we will not be back until some changes happen. IT WAS SO HOT AND STUFFY as to be literally sickening. None of the 4 of us in our group are prone to claustrophobia but we all felt that way - it was hard to breathe. I asked several of the staff what was going on as this surely had to be an unusual occurrence, right? Wrong! This is the norm. By the time Dwight took the stage, we couldn't handle it anymore. We stayed for 4 songs and left. It was an unfortunate waste of time and money. I don't think you need to be a health code expert to know that these conditions are unsafe and unhealthy. Come on, Roxy, please do something about this. We really want to be able to see shows in your otherwise great venue.

Yelp
It had been a really long time since my last visit (25 years+) and my body and tolerances have changed quite a bit apparently. What used to seem like really good energy in a packed, hot environment, now seems like a packed, hit environment that drains me of my energy. Get a few fans already and hang them in the corners of the room for a few hundred bucks. It seems like these old clubs (like the Trubador) have only put money into sound equipment (possibly) and not the space. It's a great venue to get up close to a band but the sound levels were very off, especially the vocals, and there is very little crowd flow. We saw the Buzzcocks, who are still pretty good, but the whole experience could have been better.
