Tropical tiki bar with craft cocktails & rooftop views

"Sippin’ Santa, the tropical Christmas-themed pop-up, takes over this Belmont rooftop tiki bar with drinks like Frosty the Merman, Jingle Bird, the original Sippin’ Santa drink, and the Holiday on Ice. All holiday cocktails come in themed glassware, also available for purchase." - Shindy Chen
"Chelsea and Jimmy meet an ice sculptor on the rooftop of this upscale tiki bar in Belmont (the neighborhood, not suburb). While The Royal Tot’s bartenders and tropical drinks are fun, the cocktails taste only fine, and the bar snacks aren’t worth it. But you don’t go to a themed bar for five-star dining. You go because it’s entertaining and full of photo-ops, and The Royal Tot is just that. Cocktails are served in conch shell glasses garnished with banana-dolphins, and are sometimes set on fire. There’s also bird-of-paradise wallpaper, Pepto-pink booths, rattan lights, and—as the Love Is Blind production team no doubt knew—a rooftop patio with skyline views." - tess allen

"For a Christmas-themed tiki takeover, Sippin’ Santa lands at the Royal Tot with drinks like the Holiday on Ice, which combines vodka, cold brew, and chile liqueur." - Erin Perkins

"Built as a two-story tropical oasis soaked in beach cocktails, I learned the Royal Tot—ETA Group's latest project from the folks behind urban golf club Stroke—opens Friday, January 21 at 933 Louise Avenue in Charlotte’s Belmont neighborhood. CEO Ashleigh Gadd told me, "As soon as you arrive, you will feel as though you are somewhere else." Claiming the largest rum collection in Charlotte, the Royal Tot features over 100 different types of rum, and beverage director Larry Suggs has created a menu of almost two dozen lush cocktails, including Queen’s Park Swizzle, Sally Sells Seashells, Frozen Fog, and 1,610 Miles From Home. It will be open Wednesday through Sunday starting at 5 p.m." - Erin Perkins
